  • ruby on rails adding new route

    i have an RoR application Log, which similar to the book store app, my logs_controller has all default action: index, show, update, create, delete.. now i need to add new action :toCSV, i defined it in logs_controller, and add new route in the config/routes as: map.resources :logs, :collection = { :toCSV = :get }. from irb, i checked the routes and see the new routes added already: rs = ActionController::Routing::Routes puts rs.routes GET /logs/toCSV(.:format)? {:controller="logs", :action="toCSV"} then ran ‘rake routes’ command in shell, it returned: toCSV_logs GET /logs/toCSV(.:format) {:controller="logs", :action="toCSV"} everything seems working. finally in my views code, i added the following: link_to 'Export to CSV', toCSV_logs_path when access it in the brower 'http://localhost:3000/logs/toCSV', it complained: Couldn't find Log with ID=toCSV i checked in script/server, and saw this one: ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound (Couldn't find Log with ID=toCSV): app/controllers/logs_controller.rb:290:in `show' seems when i click that link, it direct it to the action 'show' instead of 'toCSV', thus it took 'toCSV' as an id...anyone know why would this happen? and to fix it?     I have an array of objects. The objects have a property called level that is a string which contains a number and is in consistent format. I am trying to find the highest number and return just that one but I seem to be blocked as far as how to proceed from my current code. The highest number may not always be in the last object in the array, but it will always be in the format of L#.

At times due to un-notified changes in JSON structure by back-end team; it breaks the front-end code. Is there any external library that we could use to compare a mock JSON (fixture) with servers JSON response. Basically it should assert the whole JSON object and should throw an error if there is any violation in servers JSON format. Additional info: App is built on JQuery consuming REST JSON services.

    In JavaScript: encodeURIComponent("©v") == "%C2%A9%E2%88%9A" Is there an equivalent for C# applications? For escaping HTML characters I used: txtOut.Text = Regex.Replace(txtIn.Text, @"[\u0080-\uFFFF]", m => @"&#" + ((int)m.Value[0]).ToString() + ";"); But I'm not sure how to convert the match to the correct hexadecimal format that JS uses. For example this code: txtOut.Text = Regex.Replace(txtIn.Text, @"[\u0080-\uFFFF]", m => @"%" + String.Format("{0:x}", ((int)m.Value[0]))); Returns "%a9%221a" for "©v" instead of "%C2%A9%E2%88%9A". It looks like I need to split the string up into bytes or something. Edit: This is for a windows app, the only items available in System.Web are: AspNetHostingPermission, AspNetHostingPermissionAttribute, and AspNetHostingPermissionLevel.

    Looking for best practice advice on what string substitution technique to use when using gettext(). Or do all techniques apply equally? I can think of at least 3 string techniques: Classic "%" based formatting: "My name is %(name)s" % locals() .format() based formatting: "My name is {name}".format( locals() ) string.Template.safe_substitute() import string template = string.Template( "My name is ${name}" ) template.safe_substitute( locals() ) The advantage of the string.Template technique is that a translated string with with an incorrectly spelled variable reference can still yield a usable string value while the other techniques unconditionally raise an exception. The downside of the string.Template technique appears to be the inability for one to customize how a variable is formatted (padding, justification, width, etc).

    Hello, Hoping to get some feedback from someone more experienced here. I haven't dealt with the dreaded floating-point calculation before... Is my understanding correct that with Ruby BigDecimal types (even with varying precision and scale lengths) should calculate accurately or should I anticipate floating point shenanigans? All my values within a Rails application are BigDecimal type and I'm seeing some errors (they do have different decimal lengths), hoping it's just my methods and not my object types... Thanks!

    So I have a FAT drive, lets say H: and a directory 'work' (full path 'H:\work'). I need to get the NUMBER of the first cluster of that directory. The number of the first cluster is 2-bytes value, that is stored in the 26th and 27th bytes of the folder enty (wich is 32 bytes). Lets say I am doing it with file, NOT a directory. The most desperate thing is that my tutor said smth like "You are going to obtain this or you wont pass this course". The true reason why he is so sure this is possible is because for 10 years (or may be more) he recieved the folder's first cluster number as a HASH of the folder's addres (and I was stupid enough to point this to him, so now I cant do it the same way) PS: This is the most spupid task I have ever had!!! This value is not really used anythere in program, it is only fcking pointless integer.

    Hi all, I'm currently using Microsoft CRM4 Mail merge function, which stores Word files as XML files inside CRM. My client has a requirement to prompt the user for more information (not found in CRM) upon mail merging. Previously, we used the Word 'FILLIN' commands, but it does not work with CRM mail merge as it only prompts the user before printing, not upon opening a Word file. I attempted using Macros, but can't seem to save macros to Microsoft Word 2003 XML file format. My questions: 1. Is there any way to get 'FILLIN' to prompt the user upon opening the mail merged file? 2. Can I store macros in Word 2003 XML file format? 3. Any other way around it, that involves merging CRM records with a Word file, and prompting the user for more information not already found in CRM? Many thanks for your help, AR

    So for this is what I've got: $(document).ready(function () { $("#div p").load("/update/temp.php"); function addOne() { var number = parseInt($("#div p").html()); return number + 1; } setInterval(function () { $("#div p").text(addOne()); }, 1000); setInterval(function () { $("#geupdate p").load("/update/temp.php");} ,10000); }); So this grabs a a UNIX timestamp from temp.php and puts into into #div p, and then adds 1 to it every second, and then every 10 seconds it will check the original file to keep it up to speed. My problem is that I need to format this UNIX timestamp into a format such as "1 day 3 hours 56 minutes and 3 seconds ago", while also doing all the incrementation and ajax calls. I'm not very experienced with jquery/javascript, so I might be missing something basic.

If I change the date format there in "Regional and Language Options", I see no effect in my application.

I have a "for" loop in the script, but it won't work unless I use only integers: #!/bin/bash for (( i=10; i<=100000; i+=100)) do ./hw3_2_2 $i done The variable $i is an input for the program hw3_2_2, and I have non-integer values I'd like to use. How could I loop through running the code with a list of decimal numbers?
