  • AutoFixture refactoring

    - by Thomas Jaskula
    I started to use AutoFixture http://autofixture.codeplex.com/ as my unit tests was bloated with a lot of data setup. I was spending more time on seting up the data than to write my unit test. Here's an example of how my initial unit test looks like (example taken from cargo application sample from DDD blue book) [Test] public void should_create_instance_with_correct_ctor_parameters() { var carrierMovements = new List<CarrierMovement>(); var deparureUnLocode1 = new UnLocode("AB44D"); var departureLocation1 = new Location(deparureUnLocode1, "HAMBOURG"); var arrivalUnLocode1 = new UnLocode("XX44D"); var arrivalLocation1 = new Location(arrivalUnLocode1, "TUNIS"); var departureDate1 = new DateTime(2010, 3, 15); var arrivalDate1 = new DateTime(2010, 5, 12); var carrierMovement1 = new CarrierMovement(departureLocation1, arrivalLocation1, departureDate1, arrivalDate1); var deparureUnLocode2 = new UnLocode("CXRET"); var departureLocation2 = new Location(deparureUnLocode2, "GDANSK"); var arrivalUnLocode2 = new UnLocode("ZEZD4"); var arrivalLocation2 = new Location(arrivalUnLocode2, "LE HAVRE"); var departureDate2 = new DateTime(2010, 3, 18); var arrivalDate2 = new DateTime(2010, 3, 31); var carrierMovement2 = new CarrierMovement(departureLocation2, arrivalLocation2, departureDate2, arrivalDate2); carrierMovements.Add(carrierMovement1); carrierMovements.Add(carrierMovement2); new Schedule(carrierMovements).ShouldNotBeNull(); } Here's how I tried to refactor it with AutoFixture [Test] public void should_create_instance_with_correct_ctor_parameters_AutoFixture() { var fixture = new Fixture(); fixture.Register(() => new UnLocode(UnLocodeString())); var departureLoc = fixture.CreateAnonymous<Location>(); var arrivalLoc = fixture.CreateAnonymous<Location>(); var departureDateTime = fixture.CreateAnonymous<DateTime>(); var arrivalDateTime = fixture.CreateAnonymous<DateTime>(); fixture.Register<Location, Location, DateTime, DateTime, CarrierMovement>( (departure, arrival, departureTime, arrivalTime) => new CarrierMovement(departureLoc, arrivalLoc, departureDateTime, arrivalDateTime)); var carrierMovements = fixture.CreateMany<CarrierMovement>(50).ToList(); fixture.Register<List<CarrierMovement>, Schedule>((carrierM) => new Schedule(carrierMovements)); var schedule = fixture.CreateAnonymous<Schedule>(); schedule.ShouldNotBeNull(); } private static string UnLocodeString() { var stringBuilder = new StringBuilder(); for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) stringBuilder.Append(GetRandomUpperCaseCharacter(i)); return stringBuilder.ToString(); } private static char GetRandomUpperCaseCharacter(int seed) { return ((char)((short)'A' + new Random(seed).Next(26))); } I would like to know if there's better way to refactor it. Would like to do it shorter and easier than that.

  • XCode sqlite3 - SELECT always return SQLITE_DONE

    - by user573633
    Hi developers.... a noob here asking for help after a day of head-banging.... I am working on an app with sqlite3 database with one database and two tables. I have now come to a step where I want to select from the table with an argument. The code is here: -(NSMutableArray*) getGroupsPeopleWhoseGroupName:(NSString*)gn;{ NSMutableArray *groupedPeopleArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; const char *sql = "SELECT * FROM Contacts WHERE groupName='?'"; @try { NSArray * paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory,NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *docsDir = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *theDBPath = [docsDir stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"ContactBook.sqlite"]; if (!(sqlite3_open([theDBPath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK)) { NSLog(@"An error opening database."); } sqlite3_stmt *st; NSLog(@"debug004 - sqlite3_stmt success."); if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sql, -1, &st, NULL) != SQLITE_OK) { NSLog(@"Error, failed to prepare statement."); } //DB is ready for accessing, now start getting all the info. while (sqlite3_step(st) == SQLITE_ROW) { MyContacts * aContact = [[MyContacts alloc] init]; //get contactID from DB. aContact.contactID = sqlite3_column_int(st, 0); if (sqlite3_column_text(st, 1) != NULL) { aContact.firstName = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *) sqlite3_column_text(st, 1)]; } else { aContact.firstName = @""; } // here retrieve other columns data .... //store these info retrieved into the newly created array. [groupedPeopleArray addObject:aContact]; [aContact release]; } if(sqlite3_finalize(st) != SQLITE_OK) { NSLog(@"Failed to finalize data statement."); } if (sqlite3_close(database) != SQLITE_OK) { NSLog(@"Failed to close database."); } } @catch (NSException *e) { NSLog(@"An exception occurred: %@", [e reason]); return nil; } return groupedPeopleArray;} MyContacts is the class where I put up all the record variables. My problem is sqlite3_step(st) always return SQLITE_DONE, so that it i can never get myContacts. (i verified this by checking the return value). What am I doing wrong here? Many thanks in advance!

  • Transparant pixels in a TPngimage object

    - by John Duinmeijer
    Is there anybody who can help me making pixels of an png picture transparant, such like: MakePixelTransparant(const png:TPngImage; x,y:integer; perc:integer); and what else do I have to do to makes thinks works (with values do i have to change to make the png object transparant, so i can use it in for example PhotoShop). Thanks, John Duinmeijer.

  • Is gethostbyname guaranteed to return hostent structures with IPv4 addresses?

    - by Robert
    I cannot use getaddrinfo(...) for resolving hostnames and therefore must stick to gethostbyname(...) Is the gethostbyname(...) function guaranteed to return hostent structures that contain only IPv4 (AF_INET) addresses on success, so that the following code would always lead to an IPv4 address: int resolve(const char *name, struct in_addr *addr) { struct hostent *he = gethostbyname(name); if (!he) return 1; memcpy(addr,he->h_addr_list[0],4); return 0; }

  • Custom byte size?

    - by thyrgle
    So, you know how the primitive of type char has the size of 1 byte? How would I make a primitive with a custom size? So like instead of an in int with the size of 4 bytes I make one with size of lets say 16. Is there a way to do this? Is there a way around it?

  • How to convert a character to key code?

    - by Murat
    Hello everyone, How can I convert backslash key ('\') to key code? On my keyboard backslash code is 220, but the method below (int)'\\' returns me 92. I need some generic conversion like int ConvertCharToKeyValue(char c) { // some code here... } Any ideas?

  • KEY_ENTER vs '\n'?

    - by wrongusername
    When I'm using PDcurses and I try to have a while loop exit when the enter key is pressed with while(key != KEY_ENTER), the while loop never exits. However, when I try to have the same loop exit with while((char)key != '\n'), it exits successfully whenever I pressed enter. What's the difference?

  • AudioConverterConvertBuffer problem with insz error

    - by Samuel
    Hi Codegurus, I have a problem with the this function AudioConverterConvertBuffer. Basically I want to convert from this format _ streamFormat.mFormatFlags = kLinearPCMFormatFlagIsSignedInteger | kLinearPCMFormatFlagIsPacked |0 ; _streamFormat.mBitsPerChannel = 16; _streamFormat.mChannelsPerFrame = 2; _streamFormat.mBytesPerPacket = 4; _streamFormat.mBytesPerFrame = 4; _streamFormat.mFramesPerPacket = 1; _streamFormat.mSampleRate = 44100; _streamFormat.mReserved = 0; to this format _streamFormatOutput.mFormatFlags = kLinearPCMFormatFlagIsSignedInteger | kLinearPCMFormatFlagIsPacked|0 ;//| kAudioFormatFlagIsNonInterleaved |0; _streamFormatOutput.mBitsPerChannel = 16; _streamFormatOutput.mChannelsPerFrame = 1; _streamFormatOutput.mBytesPerPacket = 2; _streamFormatOutput.mBytesPerFrame = 2; _streamFormatOutput.mFramesPerPacket = 1; _streamFormatOutput.mSampleRate = 44100; _streamFormatOutput.mReserved = 0; and what i want to do is to extract an audio channel(Left channel or right channel) from an LPCM buffer based on the input format to make it mono in the output format. Some logic code to convert is as follows This is to set the channel map for PCM output file SInt32 channelMap[1] = {0}; status = AudioConverterSetProperty(converter, kAudioConverterChannelMap, sizeof(channelMap), channelMap); and this is to convert the buffer in a while loop AudioBufferList audioBufferList; CMBlockBufferRef blockBuffer; CMSampleBufferGetAudioBufferListWithRetainedBlockBuffer(sampBuffer, NULL, &audioBufferList, sizeof(audioBufferList), NULL, NULL, 0, &blockBuffer); for (int y=0; y<audioBufferList.mNumberBuffers; y++) { AudioBuffer audioBuffer = audioBufferList.mBuffers[y]; //frames = audioBuffer.mData; NSLog(@"the number of channel for buffer number %d is %d",y,audioBuffer.mNumberChannels); NSLog(@"The buffer size is %d",audioBuffer.mDataByteSize); numBytesIO = audioBuffer.mDataByteSize; convertedBuf = malloc(sizeof(char)*numBytesIO); status = AudioConverterConvertBuffer(converter, audioBuffer.mDataByteSize, audioBuffer.mData, &numBytesIO, convertedBuf); char errchar[10]; NSLog(@"status audio converter convert %d",status); if (status != 0) { NSLog(@"Fail conversion"); assert(0); } NSLog(@"Bytes converted %d",numBytesIO); status = AudioFileWriteBytes(mRecordFile, YES, countByteBuf, &numBytesIO, convertedBuf); NSLog(@"status for writebyte %d, bytes written %d",status,numBytesIO); free(convertedBuf); if (numBytesIO != audioBuffer.mDataByteSize) { NSLog(@"Something wrong in writing"); assert(0); } countByteBuf = countByteBuf + numBytesIO; But the insz problem is there... so it cant convert. I would appreciate any input Thanks in advance

  • Idiomatic use of auto_ptr to transfer ownership to a container

    - by heycam
    I'm refreshing my C++ knowledge after not having used it in anger for a number of years. In writing some code to implement some data structure for practice, I wanted to make sure that my code was exception safe. So I've tried to use std::auto_ptrs in what I think is an appropriate way. Simplifying somewhat, this is what I have: class Tree { public: ~Tree() { /* delete all Node*s in the tree */ } void insert(const string& to_insert); ... private: struct Node { ... vector<Node*> m_children; }; Node* m_root; }; template<T> void push_back(vector<T*>& v, auto_ptr<T> x) { v.push_back(x.get()); x.release(); } void Tree::insert(const string& to_insert) { Node* n = ...; // find where to insert the new node ... push_back(n->m_children, auto_ptr<Node>(new Node(to_insert)); ... } So I'm wrapping the function that would put the pointer into the container, vector::push_back, and relying on the by-value auto_ptr argument to ensure that the Node* is deleted if the vector resize fails. Is this an idiomatic use of auto_ptr to save a bit of boilerplate in my Tree::insert? Any improvements you can suggest? Otherwise I'd have to have something like: Node* n = ...; // find where to insert the new node auto_ptr<Node> new_node(new Node(to_insert)); n->m_children.push_back(new_node.get()); new_node.release(); which kind of clutters up what would have been a single line of code if I wasn't worrying about exception safety and a memory leak. (Actually I was wondering if I could post my whole code sample (about 300 lines) and ask people to critique it for idiomatic C++ usage in general, but I'm not sure whether that kind of question is appropriate on stackoverflow.)

  • IF Statement has strange behavior

    - by BSchlinker
    I've developed a 'custom' cout, so that I can display text to console and also print it to a log file. This cout class is passed a different integer on initialization, with the integer representing the verbosity level of the message. If the current verbosity level is greater then or equal to the verbosity level of the message, the message should print. The problem is, I have messages printing even when the current verbosity level is too low. I went ahead and debugged it, expecting to find the problem. Instead, I found multiple scenarios where my if statements are not working as expected. The statement if(ilralevel_passed <= ilralevel_set) will sometimes proceed even if ilralevel_set is LESS then ilralevel_passed. You can see this behavior in the following picture (my apologizes for using Twitpic) http://twitpic.com/1xtx4g/full. Notice how ilralevel_set is equal to zero, and ilralevel_passed is equal to one. Yet, the if statement has returned true and is now moving forward to pass the line to cout. I've never seen this type of behavior before and I'm not exactly sure how to proceed debugging it. I'm not able to isolate the behavior either -- it only occurs in certain parts of my program. Any suggestions are appreciated as always. // Here is an example use of the function: // ilra_status << setfill('0') << setw(2) << dispatchtime.tm_sec << endl; // ilra_warning << "Dispatch time (seconds): " << mktime(&dispatchtime) << endl; // Here is the 'custom' cout function: #ifndef ILRA_H_ #define ILRA_H_ // System libraries #include <iostream> #include <ostream> #include <sstream> #include <iomanip> // Definitions #define ilra_talk ilra(__FUNCTION__,0) #define ilra_update ilra(__FUNCTION__,0) #define ilra_error ilra(__FUNCTION__,1) #define ilra_warning ilra(__FUNCTION__,2) #define ilra_status ilra(__FUNCTION__,3) // Statics static int ilralevel_set = 0; static int ilralevel_passed; // Classes class ilra { public: // constructor / destructor ilra(const std::string &funcName, int toset) { ilralevel_passed = toset; } ~ilra(){}; // enable / disable irla functions static void ilra_verbose_level(int toset){ ilralevel_set = toset; } // output template <class T> ilra &operator<<(const T &v) { if(ilralevel_passed <= ilralevel_set) std::cout << v; return *this; } ilra &operator<<(std::ostream&(*f)(std::ostream&)) { if(ilralevel_passed <= ilralevel_set) std::cout << *f; return *this; } }; // end of the class #endif /* ILRA_H_ */

  • Insane CPU usage in QT 5.0

    - by GravityScore
    I'm having trouble using the QT framework, particularly with the paintEvent of QWidget. I have a QWidget set up, and am overriding the paintEvent of it. I need to render a bunch of rectangles (grid system), 51 by 19, leading to 969 rectangles being drawn. This is done in a for loop. Then I also need to draw an image on each on of these grids. The QWidget is added to a QMainWindow, which is shown. This works nicely, but it's using up 47% of CPU per window open! And I want to allow the user to open multiple windows like this, likey having 3-4 open at a time, which puts the CPU close to 150%. Why does this happen? Here is the paintEvent contents. The JNI calls don't cause the CPU usage, commenting them out doesn't lower it, but commenting out the p.fillRect and Renderer::renderString (which draws the image) lowers the CPU to about 5%. // Background QPainter p(this); p.fillRect(0, 0, this->width(), this->height(), QBrush(QColor(0, 0, 0))); // Lines for (int y = 0; y < Global::terminalHeight; y++) { // Line and color method ID jmethodID lineid = Manager::jenv->GetMethodID(this->javaClass, "getLine", "(I)Ljava/lang/String;"); error(); jmethodID colorid = Manager::jenv->GetMethodID(this->javaClass, "getColorLine", "(I)Ljava/lang/String;"); error(); // Values jstring jl = (jstring) Manager::jenv->CallObjectMethod(this->javaObject, lineid, jint(y)); error(); jstring cjl = (jstring) Manager::jenv->CallObjectMethod(this->javaObject, colorid, jint(y)); error(); // Convert to C values const char *l = Manager::jenv->GetStringUTFChars(jl, 0); const char *cl = Manager::jenv->GetStringUTFChars(cjl, 0); QString line = QString(l); QString color = QString(cl); // Render line for (int x = 0; x < Global::terminalWidth; x++) { QColor bg = Renderer::colorForHex(color.mid(x + color.length() / 2, 1)); // Cell location on widget int cellx = x * Global::cellWidth + Global::xoffset; int celly = y * Global::cellHeight + Global::yoffset; // Background p.fillRect(cellx, celly, Global::cellWidth, Global::cellHeight, QBrush(bg)); // String // Renders the image to the grid Renderer::renderString(p, tc, text, cellx, celly); } // Release Manager::jenv->ReleaseStringUTFChars(jl, l); Manager::jenv->ReleaseStringUTFChars(cjl, cl); }

  • Denormalization of large text?

    - by tesmar
    If I have large articles that need to be stored in a database, each associated with many tables would a NoSQL option help? Should I copy the 1000 char articles over multiple "buckets", duplicating them each time they are related to a bucket or should I use a normalized MySQL DB with lots of Memcache?

  • Check for a string format...

    - by ThePower
    I need an simple way to check whether a string that is sent to my function is of the form: (x + n)(x + m) //the +'s can be minus' //n and m represent a double //x represents the char 'x' Is there a simple string format that I can use to check that this is the form. As opposed to checking each character singularly. The whitespace will be removed to save any confusion. Regards Lloyd

  • Remove first and last characters from a string in Lisp

    - by powerj1984
    I am passing in command line arguments to my Lisp program and they are formatted like this when they hit my main function: ("1 1 1" "dot" "2 2 2") I have a dot function and would like to call it directly from the argument, but first I must strip the " characters. I tried variations of this function: (defun remove-quotes (s) (setf (aref s 0) '"")) to no avail, Lisp complains that "" is not a member of base-char. Thanks!
