We feel because of demand and comments that we should now consider the web to sell our art. How do we start? We already have a registered domain name. We have talked to many people that say they are experts in the design and hosting of webs.   This came up recently when a friend of mine left her current job. She really wanted to make a very low profile exit, but the news leaked and there really was too much noise -- some bad, some downright embarrassing not to mention management foul mouthing her. All of this, despite her contribution to the team being very substantial. So here's my question: How do you make a real low profile exit from a company? Is something like that even a reality given that a fair number of people will know you in office, not to mention your linkedin and facebook.

  Hi, an upstart question (I think I have read all relevant man pages but could not find the answer there): What is the sense of using a "stop on ..." stanza in the definition of a job which is a task? The manuals tell us that such a job, after being started, just waits until its script (or exec stanza) is executed completely, and then stops automatically. Given that, what is the point in using "stop on ..." stanzas in such job definitions? For example, this is the job definition for Upstart's (very important) rc job in Natty 11.04 (leaving out comments and empty lines): start on runlevel [0123456] stop on runlevel [!$RUNLEVEL] export RUNLEVEL export PREVLEVEL console output env INIT_VERBOSE task exec /etc/init.d/rc $RUNLEVEL IMHO, the job, after being started by a runlevel event, will be stopped automatically as soon as /etc/init.d/rc $RUNLEVEL has finished. • Failed Update & Mouse Issues

  I`m using my gfs computer - but I do have Ubuntu 11.10 up and running well to some degree. Still need to work out some bugs but not quite sure how to do that. My mouse is only somewhat responsive - cursor moves, and able to click on things but still unable to do a double click function. Left mouse button still not working at all. Tried running updates but it keeps coming up synaptic error. Not sure what that means. I have read that some people have done reinstalls of Ubuntu and it corrected the problems - not sure if that could work. Comments would be appreciated. Installed Ubuntu 11.10 but thinking of trying to wipe the system to do a fresh install can someone tell me how I get back to the Ubuntu installation menu. Wondering if gnome may need to be reset but not sure.

• Who makes laptops for Ubuntu?

  I'm looking for a laptop and would like to avoid the whole 'is this [specific configuration of hardware] compatible with Ubuntu?' process by finding a laptop manufactured with Ubuntu in mind. I know of system76, but are there any other manufacturers making laptops built to run a standard build of Ubuntu? I'm not counting Dell, as - from my experience - their 'Ubuntu' laptops/netbooks require their build, and because of that have their own set of compatibility issues. UPDATE: And as mentioned in the comments, Dell is no longer selling systems with Ubuntu to consumers.

  I am looking to create a job post to get a satisfactory assistant programmer / templater. Specifically, a php & web programmer. I am, however, afraid of forgetting important things. So, are there resources you can suggest for templates for things to ask and things to tell in a job post for a programmer? Surprisingly, I wasn't able to find similar questions on this site, so there may be duplicate questions out there that I could use but just didn't find. Right now I know that my -requirements- are so generic that they're going to get me in trouble with a spam of applications. e.g. the candidate must know php, must be able to seperate php from html. So I'm looking for criteria that are must-haves, must-mentions, or a general template to try to avoid a "lemon". • Camera placement sphere for an always fully visible object

  Given an object: With the bounds [x, y, z, width, height, depth] And an orthographic projection [left, right, bottom, top, near, far] I want to determine the radius of a sphere which allows me to randomly place my camera on so that: The object is fully visible from all positions on this sphere The sphere radius is the smallest possible value while still satisfying 1. Assume the object is centered around the origin. How can I find this radius? I'm currently using sqrt(width^2 + height^2 + depth^2) but I'm not sure that's the correct value, as it doesn't take the camera into account. Thanks for any advice. I'm sorry for confusing a few things here. My comments below should clarify what I'm trying to do actually.

• Blog: Search results prefer index page over content pages.

  I have a typical blog that has recent posts on the main page, and each post's title links to a page that only shows that one article and comments and such. I was looking through some of the keywords used to get to my site and I was noticing that some of the searches would only show my main page, and not the page for the article. If users have to find the article by scrolling through the main page, it just makes it more difficult. Is there some way that I can tell search engines to rank the content page higher than my index page? Or can I do something else like not display the full text of the posts on the main page?

• Remove a bad/erroneous WebPart from a SharePoint page

  If you've added a poorly written webpart to your 'default.aspx' page, the consequence of this action will be that you won't be able to load the page anymore... Don't be sad, there is still a way to remove the webpart from the page :) (Yes, even removing the webpart from the webpart gallery would not solve this issue).Steps to fix this:1. Append the following query string to your URL: ?Contents=1.Once you've added Contents=1 as a query string to the webpart page's URL it will display the Webpart Maintenance Page. Example: http://mysharepointserver/default.aspx?contents=12. On that page you can now see the webparts added to the page, delete the problematic webpart.Now try reloading the default.aspx page... Tadaaa!!! you can view your page again :)3. Leave a thank you note @ comments section :)

I have listed the company in Google Business so it shows in the SERP and I have a Facebook and Twitter account linked, that I update regularly. I know keeping content fresh is important but nothing much changes so I am unsure what options I have? Should I create a blog and talk about the cars, weddings etc? I am totally unsure where to go with this website, the site currently has a few images and a small amount of text. Things I am considering, but would like advice on: A Mobile version of the website A Blog on the website A gallery page with pictures and descriptions Asking local companies to link to my website Essentially I have a small business website but not much content, because really there isnt! • Rsyslog problem after ubuntu upgrade 10.4 to 12.4

  I was using Ubuntu 10.4 until last week for storing the log informations of a external device with rsyslog. After upgrading to ubuntu 12.4 the logging of TCP doesn't works anymore. (There are just no pakets visible - not even with tcpdump - aold ubuntu machine still sees the pakets.) UDP works with the identical configuration on the ubuntu machine and a "use UDP" on the external device. Are there any changes in rsyslog, that could explain this? • Print to file in Black and White [not printer specific]

  Hi all, I have these pdf files of c++code and they are colored which would be cool, except that the network printer here is b&w and the printed out codes come in various shades of pale grey which makes them essentially unreadable (specially the comments). I would like everything (text, codes, commands,...) to be printed in the same (black) color. i've tried fuddling with the printer's properties, but the closest thing i see is the 'level of grey' tab, and there i have the choice between 'enhanced' and 'normal' (and it doesn't make a difference in my case). i've tried 'print to file', but i don't see any options there to print to b&w, I've tried installing the 'generic cups printer', but again no options to print to b&w. any idea ? (i'm on 10.10)
