can I set the default GW to be the Link Local address of the next hop router. I understand this is a strange thing to do, I'm mostly wondering it is possible?
Others have asked about this issue but had intermittent access to their HD, therefore their results did not apply to this situation. I have tried reseating the HD to no effect. I also tried booting from the Internal HD to no effect. Next step get a connector cable and move the data to a different HD, or send in for HD recovery? Any suggestions?

On CentOS 5.7, when open up a vncconfig, a tray icon shows on the taskbar. Hit close or the x button to close the vncconfig doesn't exit the vncconfig, the tray icon is still there. Next time, if I open up another vncconfig rather than clicking the one on taskbar. There will be another vncconfig tray icon added to the taskbar. Except using kill $pid to remove the tray icon, is there any other way to exit the vncconfig process properly? See screenshot below:
I used a turnkeylinux.org otrs installation and I'm trying to configure the default domain of 'yourhost.example.com'. I tried the following:
sed -ri 's/yourhost.example.com/mydomain.com/' /usr/share/otrs/Kernel/Config/Defaults.pm
sudo shutdown -r now
The next time I logged and tried to create a user, the default domain was still there.
How can I change default doamin in an OTRS installation?
I'm gathering specs to build a highly reliable file server, somewhat future proof for the next 3-5 years. The component I'm starting with is the motherboard.
Are there motherboards that have been shown to support ECC RAM (and which particular models?) and also USB 3.0? I've read that there are such chipsets with ECC support, but motherboard manufacturers won't guarantee they work, or won't even offer the required BIOS options.
Can anyone help me with this VBS script? Thanks in advance.
User logs in to a XP computer and a PowerPoint presentations or web page starts
They read through the presentation and then click a links that says: “Click here to complete presentation”.
When they click the link it will send their username and time/date stamp to a text file on a server.
The next time they log in they will not get the PowerPoint or web page presentation.
It is very expensive always to use most modern hardware especially buying new mainboard if only a new CPU is desired. It would be much better if one knows whether and when major CPU producers plan to change CPU sockets. Do you know when it is planed to change sockets the next time? I am particularly interested in not buying Intel i7 CPU if a new CPU will be released soon with not compatible pins.
To delete a file in Finder you have to press CMD+Delete. It then moves the current selection to the root folder of the file you've just deleted. Is there any way to have the selection select the next file in the same directory instead, ala Windows Explorer?
Hi,
I've just installed Windows 7 RTM and setup Windows VPN to work office. It all works fine except, when the VPN is connected, regular web access stops working eg: local web browser can't connect to anything. Disconnect VPN and web works again.
I've tried re-ordering the priorities of network adaptors with no luck. I'm not sure where to look next. Any ideas?
Brad
Hello,
I have a /96 block of IPV6 addresses and i'm wondering how i could some how find the next address (Since ipv6 addresses can contain numbers and letters). I know the first address could be in numbers but i've yet to find out how i could really find in some kind of order for that amount of addresses
E.G: What technique could i use to make sure i'll actually be able to use all of the addresses
I have an Apache web server that has a sub folder for images.
For some reason, a few of the .png files are returned as text/html and not as image/png.
There is nothing indicating a permission problem and the files return with code 200 and with full size.
I made sure that image/png is set and even tried forcing it with .htaccess
Any idea where to look next?
Edit: looks like an .htaccess configuration problem on a parent directory.
First of all sorry if my question would be not relevant, I'm quite beginner. In short:
I have 2 physical machines - first(Windows Server 2007, Apache 2.2) on the second machine esxi installed to host virtual machines . I have been converted my physical machine(1) on esxi(2) and in the next step I would like to deploy a load balancer between the physical and virtual machine. Would be this workaround appropriate? If yes what are the steps to follow?
I have a tmpfs mount defined in my /etc/fstab with a size of 1024m, but when I restart the server it sizes itself to 5.9G. If I run mount -o remount /dev/shm, the size will correct itself to 1G. But it'll revert the next time the server is restarted.
The entry in fstab is:
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs size=1024m 0 0
Could there another file that mount could be calling during startup? How might I find that file?
I have a full sized ATX case with several fans, including one on the door/removable side. This fan makes the "door" rattle or vibrate loudly when the fan runs at full speed, such as at startup. I can stop the rattle temporarily by placing my hand on the "door", or pushing an object next to it.
Do you have any suggestions for a permanent solution?
Note: The "door" in question is a slide out panel with two twist screws at the back to hold it in.
I recently purchased a Apple MacBook Pro 17" online. It costs me $2299 plus shipping. If the unit should have an issue over the next few years I want to be fully covered so I will be purchasing the Consumer Priority Service extended warranty as well. The online dealer offers a 2 year or a 3 year for about $100 more, Is it worth the extra money for the 3 year warranty?
Hello,
I am testing MS exchange 2010 SP1 for our firm. It's new exchnage installation as we don't have any previous versions. I installed Exchange 2010 with SP1 on Windows server 2008 SP2 (64-bit) with typical settings which has 3 server roles: hub transport, mailbox server, client access. But now I got stuck how to finish basic configuaration to get email flow from/to my server. I really appreciate any response to help me with the next steps..
Thank you in advance for any replies,
Hemal
I'm noticing on MS Network Monitor a ton of NetBios Name Service broadcasts coming from a particular workstation. When I run netmon on that desktop it cannot resolve the application producing them (but does log them).
First question, is this bad?
Next question, what could be causing this so we can either move it to a server or stop it entirely?
I have a number of scheduled tasks which simply open a web page in Windows Server 2008 R2. They used to run and end without abending, but now they open and stay open and I have to setup the task to quit them by force before their next scheduled run. I've thought about installing CURL or WGET, but is there a way to do this with R2 without going to that step?
Regards.
I'm trying to create a very simple Windows-XP batch file:
Program1.exe
Sleep 3
Program2.exe
Sleep 5
Program3.exe
Sleep 11
Of course, I don't want to have to exit each program, before the next 1 starts.
The default for batch-files seems to be "stop until the previous program exists".
How do I get this script to run as expected?
Edit: The 3 executables listed above are more like "notepad" type programs. They open and run and don't just "open, run, close".
If I have a Photoshop Document containing an image for example.
How can I break it into a grid ?
Similar to doing:
- Select a rectangle
- new Layer Via Cut
- move to the next rectangle vertically
repeat ?
Any scripts/plugins that automate/parameterize that ?
GNU Emacs 23.1, Windows XP.
I usually split a frame to four windows. How can I save this arrangement and restore at my next session?
Commands desktop-save and desktop-change-dir don't remember what I want.
Thanks.
A friend of mine has been asked to start experimenting with migrating VMs from Vmware Lab Manager to vCloud. We know the machines/labs have to be undeployed and consolidated, which is done for this testing lab. However, what should be the next steps to make this as efficient as possible, as we have a large number of labs to migrate. Also, the dependencies tree is huge and the consolidation process is a big thing, but we know we cannot avoid this.
Thanks :-)
I have 20 PCs (Windows XP) in remote locations connecting to the same server (Windows Server 2003) using Remote Desktop over a VPN. On just one of the PCs the remote desktop screen flashes (redraws) multiple times after connecting, the others don't. The screen resolution is the same: local is 800x600 32bit; RDP file is set to full screen, 256 color; remote when connected is 800x600 8bit color.
Any suggestions what the problem might be, or what to investigate next?
