• Setting ModerationInformation.Status from Approved back to pending removes

  Seeing if anyone else has had this problem and a resolution to it. I have a visual studio sequential workflow on a list (not a library) which does NOT use tasks, the approval process is done through the Approve/Reject OOTB buttons on the list item. The approval is a 2 stage approval, whereby if the 1st stage is completed (via clicking the Approve OOTB button), i reset the ModerationInformation.Status from Approved back to pending then send an email to the 2nd stage approver. My problem is, when i set the the ModerationInformation.Status back to Pending from Approved so there is never an approved version, the Creator loses permissions to view the item, and i get the "cannot find item" error from SharePoint for the person who created the item. The 1st and 2nd level approvers and anyone with approve rights CAN still see the item. Some more background information. the code i am using to update the moderationinformation is I get the properties from the workflow event and get a hook into the listitem properties.Item.ModerationInformation.Status = SPModerationStatusType.Pending; properties.Item.Update(); can anyone help.

• va_arg with pointers

It also notes instantiated form at (struct structure *) and struct structure *. This, what seems to be getting assigned to s is int (struct structure *). It compiles fine when parentheses are removed from (struct structure *), but the structures that are supposed to be initialized are inaccessible. Why is int assumed when parentheses are around the type argument passed to va_arg? How can I fix this?

• How to keep form items selected after post request?

  I have a simple html form. On php page. A simple list is placed on form. I submit this form (selected list items) to this page so it gives me page refresh. I want items which were POSTED to be selected after form was submited. How to do such thing? • Initialize listitem with blanks?

  Say I have a list made up of a listitem which contains three strings. I add a new listitem, and try to assign the values of said strings from an outside source. If one of those items is unassigned, the value in the listitem remains as null (unassigned). As a result I get an error if I try to assign that value to a field on my page. I can do a check on isNullOrEmpty for each field on the page, but that seems inefficient. I'd rather initialize the values to "" (Empty string) in the codebehind and send valid data. I can do it manually: ClaimPwk emptyNode = new ClaimPwk(); emptyNode.cdeAttachmentControl = ""; emptyNode.cdeRptTransmission = ""; emptyNode.cdeRptType = ""; headerKeys.Add(emptyNode); But I have some BIG list items, and writing that for those will get tedious. So is there a command, or just plain an easier way to initialize a listitem to empty string as opposed to null? Or has anyone got a better idea?

• Disable ARC with Xcode 5

So, in the previous versions of Xcode, we can disable ARC (Automatic Reference Counting) in the project settings when we create the project. Not now with Xcode 5 and ARC to pose me a problem: with an property list file, for the reading step, Xcode send me an error: "implicit conversion of 'int' to 'id' is disallowed with ARC". I had not the problem with the same code with Xcode 4. In my property list file, The keys are numbers and also in my viewController.m . NIKOS M.: No problem, but I don't see how I can add compiler flag with the 5th version of Xcode. Basically, all it does is swaps pronoun etc. perspectives. This is fine when I throw a string like "I love you" at it, it returns "you love me" but when I throw something like: you love your version of my couch because I love you, and you're a couch-lover. I get: I love your versyouon of your couch because I love I, and I'm a couch-lover. I'm confused as to why this is happening. I explicitly split the string into a list to avoid this. Why would it be able to detect it as being a part of a list item, rather than just an exact match? Also, slightly deviating to avoid having to post another question so similar; if a solution to this breaks this function, what will happen to commas, full stops, other punctuation? It made some very surprising mistakes. My expected output is: I love my version of your couch because you love I, and I'm a couch-lover. The reason I formatted it like this, is because I eventually hope to be able to replace the item.replace(x, y) variables with words in a database.

  I have a KML file which is a list of places around the world with coordinates and some other attributes. It looks like this for one place: <Placemark> <name>Albania - Durrës</name> <open>0</open> <visibility>1</visibility> <description>(Spot ID: 275801) show <![CDATA[<a href="http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?go=1&vs=1&sc=275801">forecast</a>]]></description> <styleUrl>#wgStyle001</styleUrl><Point> <coordinates>19.489747,41.277806,0</coordinates> </Point> <LookAt><range>200000</range><longitude>19.489747</longitude><latitude>41.277806</latitude></LookAt> </Placemark> I would like to remove everything except the name of the place. So in this case that would mean I would like to remove everything except <name>Albania - Durrës</name> The problem is, this KML file includes more than 1000 of these places. Doing this manually obviously isn't an option, so then how can I remove all tags except for the name tags for all of the items in the list? Can I use some kind of program for that?

I need to find all possible matches for the searchword with a single letter addition or deletion. so ex. 'raqd' would have an option to be 'rad', and 'poted' could be 'posted' or 'potted'. • SharePoint 2010 Center and Fixed Width of all content on page including the ribbon

  All, I am trying to make the width of the sharepoint 2010 web site to be within a fixed width and centered across the screen. I would like for it to be 800px and centered. When i do this, it seems like it starts to work until the ribbion bar renters. • Compile error with initializer_list when trying to use it to initialize member value of class

  I am trying to make a class initializable from an initialization_list in a class constructor's constructor's initialization list. It works for a std::map, but not for my custom class.   I ran into an error message in SharePoint 2010 that took me a few minutes to figure out.  I was working on a demo of SharePoint 2010’s managed metadata and getting an error when I was adding a Managed Metadata column to a library.  A little Google research turned up this blog post: The Taxonomy feature (Feature ID "73EF14B1-13A9-416b-A9B5-ECECA2B0604C") has not been activated. As Michal Pisarek pointed out last June, you get the error because the Taxonomy feature isn’t activated.  Like Michal, I’m not sure how this happened to my installation, but the fix he documented works. (Activating the feature using STSADM)

  One of the New User Interface Platforms in SharePoint 2010 is ‘The Dialog Platform’ A dialog is essentially a <div> which gets visible on demand and renders the HTML using a background overlay creating a modal dialog like user experience. We can show an existing div from within the page or a different page using a URL inside the dialogs. When we pass the URL to the dialog it looks for the Querystring parameter “IsDlg=1”. If this parameters exists than it would dynamically load the "/_layouts/styles/dlgframe.css” file. This file overrides the “s4-notdlg” class items as “display:none”, which means that all items with this class would not get displayed in Dialog Mode.  So if we go to the v4.master page we can see that this class is used by the Ribbon control to hide the ribbon when in dialog mode: How to open the Edit Form Dialog for List Item: In SharePoint 2010 The URL for opening the Edit Form of any list item looks like something like this : http://intranet.contoso.com/<SiteName>/Lists/<ListName>/EditForm.aspx?ID=1&IsDlg=1 ID is the list item row identifier and as discussed above the IsDlg is for the dialog mode. • AutoCompleteTextView with custom list: how to set up onClick Listeners and getting the selected item

  Hi everyone, I am working on an app which uses tags. Accessing those should be as simple as possible. Working with an AutoCompleteTextView seems appropriate to me. What I want: existing tags should be displayed in a selectable list with a CheckBox on each item's side existing tags should be displayed UPON FOCUS of AutoCompleteTextView (i.e. not after typing a letter) What I've done so far is storing tags in a dedicated sqlite3 table. Tags are queried resulting in a Cursor.   SPFileVersionCollection and SPListItemVersionCollection versioning seems inconsistent to me. Inconsistency wouldn't be a problem to me, but sort order is. SPListItemVersionCollection I can understand versioning of ListItems as they are stored in descending order: SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions.Count -> 5 SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions[0].VersionId -> 1026 (2.2 latest version) SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions[1].VersionId -> 1025 (2.1) SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions[2].VersionId -> 1024 (2.0) ... [4].VersionId -> (oldest version) SPFileVersionCollection However I can't understand how version numbers are saved for a document library item: SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions.Count -> 4 SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[0].ID -> 512 (1.0 oldest one) SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[1].ID -> 513 (1.1) SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[2].ID -> 1025 (2.1 latest version) SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[3].ID -> 1024 (2.0 (EDIT: IsCurrentVersion = True)) They are nor in ascending order, nor descending, but something mixed. • How to populate a generic list of objects in C# from SQL database

  I am just learning ASP.NET c# and trying to incorporate best practices into my applications. Everything that I read says to layer my applications into DAL, BLL, UI, etc based on separation of concerns. Instead of passing datatables around, I am thinking about using custom objects so that I am loosely coupled to my data layer and can take advantage of intellisense in VS. I assume these objects would be considered DTOs? First, where do these objects reside in my layers? BLL, DAL, other? Second, when populating from SQL, should I loop through a data reader to populate the list or first fill a data table, then loop through the table to populate the list? I know you should close the database connection as soon as possible, but it seems like even more overhead to populate the data table and then loop through that for the list. Third, everything I see these days says use Linq2SQL. I am planning to learn Linq2SQL, but at this time I am working with a legacy database that doesn't have foreign keys setup and I do not have the ability to fix it atm. Also, I want to learn more about c# before I start getting into ORM solutions like nHibernate. At the same time I don't want to type out all the connection and SQL plumbing for every query. Is it ok to use the Enterprise DAAB for now?

• VS2010 RC: Add new domain service class wizard entities list is empty

  Greetings! I am going through Brad Abrams' SL4 + RIA Services series. Right now I am here: http://blogs.msdn.com/brada/archive/2010/03/15/silverlight-4-ria-services-ready-for-business-exposing-data-from-entity-framework.aspx. When I get to the "add domain service" step and the wizard asks you what entities you want to expose, the list is empty. The dropdown that let's me choose my Entity data context is there and the "DishViewEntities" is selected but it is not showing the "Restaurant" and "Plate" entities in the list below like it does in the picture. I found this thread here: http://forums.silverlight.net/forums/t/168724.aspx. The poster has the same problem as me. I have restarted VS, rebooted, regenerated the EDMX, tried creating it in different folders. Still the list is empty. When it is empty, it will not allow me to select individual entities or generate the class. Any ideas from the community? Thanks!
