  • When do I need to use, or not use, .datum when appending an svg element

    - by Bobby Gifford
    svg = d3.select("#viz").append("svg").datum(data) //I often see .datum when an area chart is used. Are there any rules of thumb for when .datum is needed? var area = d3.svg.area() .x(function(d) { return x(d.x); }) .y0(height) .y1(function(d) { return y(d.y); }); var svg = d3.select("body").append("svg") .attr("width", width) .attr("height", height); svg.append("path") .datum(data) .attr("d", area);

  • Using a Resource as an Attribute to a HTML Element in ASP.net

    - by Michael Stum
I would like to have this piece of code in my .aspx file: <input class="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" type="button" name="BtnOK" id="Button2" value="Close" onclick="javascript:HandleOKButtonClick()" accesskey="<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>" /> Unfortunately, ASP.net doesn't seem to like that: An error occurred during the processing of /_layouts/MyPage/Info.aspx. Literal expressions like '<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>' are not allowed. Use <asp:Literal runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>" /> instead That doesn't work in this situation as that would mean nesting the Literal between the quotes of the accesskey attribute, which causes a "The tag contains duplicate 'ID' attributes" error. Is there a way to use a string from a resource without having to change the input to an asp:Button? I guess there has to be a way using <%=, but I don't know how I would address the resource itself?

  • Conversion of DOM element selection code to jQuery

    - by Tom McDonnell
I have a large Javascript codebase to convert to jQuery. The code is structured such that DOM elements are created in Javascript (using a library called DomBuilder), and saved to variables if they will be needed later, before being added to the DOM. Eg. var inputs = { submitConfirm: INPUT({type: 'button', value: 'Submit'}), submitCancel : INPUT({type: 'button', value: 'Cancel'}) }; document.appendChild(inputs.submitConfirm); Then later for example... inputs.submitCancel.style.display = 'none'; inputs.submitCancel.addEventListener('click', onClickSubmitCancel, false); My problem is that jQuery seems to lack a way of manipulating DOM elements directly, as opposed to selecting them first (with for example $('#submitCancel'). Can anyone suggest a way to directly translate the last two Javascript lines given above to use jQuery, given that the DOM elements are already available, and so do not need to be selected?

  • Rails 3 : Can't get form_for to work as a 'delete' following the RESTful achitecture => always giving a ROUTING ERROR

    - by Alex
I have a very simple render that goes as follow: <%= form_for(:relationships, :url => relationships_path, :html => {:method => 'delete'}) do |f| %> <div><%= f.hidden_field :user_id_to_unfollow, :value => @user.id %></div> <div class="actions"><%= f.submit "Unfollow" %></div> <% end %> When I submit this form it will always give me a Routing Error No route matches "/relationships" on my page. In my relationships controller, I have created all the propers methods: def create ... end def destroy ... end def update ... end def show ... end And in my routes config I have made sure to allow all routes for the relationships controller resources :relationships But I can't seem to get into the destroy method of the controller :( However if I remove the :html => {:method => 'delete'} method parameter in the form_for then I get to the create method of the controller no pb. I don't get it.... Alex

  • file_field is not sticky in my Rails form

    - by Tony
    I have a pretty standard Rails form: <div> <h1>Create a New Listing</h1> <%- form_for @listing, :html => {:multipart => true} do |f| -%> <div><%= f.label :title, "Title:"%> <%= f.text_field :title %></div> <div> <%= f.label :image, "Image:" %> <%= f.file_field :image </div> <div> <%= f.label :sound, "Sound Clip:"%> <%= f.file_field :sound %><br /> </div> <div class="submit"><%= f.submit 'Post Listing' %></div> <%- end -%> </div> When a user chooses a file, but the form fails for validation purposes, he must always re-select the file. It is not sticky. Any suggestion on how to fix this? Thanks!

  • Make element visible on ajax in JSF2

    - by amorfis
I have dataTable in my page. Initially I want it to be hidden, and show after fetching data by AJAX request. I know how to fetch data and put into table, but I don't know how to show table if it is hidden. Here is the code: <h:commandButton value="aa"> <f:ajax execute="from to validTo" render="transportOffers"/> </h:commandButton> <p:dataTable id="transportOffers" value="${cargoOffer.transportsForCargo}" var="transport"> <p:column> <h:outputText value="${transport.company}"/> </p:column> </p:dataTable> Table is visible initially, even if it is empty. If I set rendered="false" it is invisible, and remains invisible also after AJAX request. How can I make it hidden initially, and to show up after populating with data?

  • Best way to make a WYSIWYG in Flex?

    - by hngry4powr
Hello, I have a client that wants a WYSIWYG form that behaves like MS word. It will have some section labels in it, with users expected to enter notes for each section, and it needs a place holder for a chart. The trick is that the user needs to know where page breaks are going to fall when printed. The customer agrees to fixed size paper with fixed sized margins. How should I approach this challenge? Thank you very much for your suggestions. Here is an example: Section 1: Explain Idea Here { As user types in this section, the space between this section and the next section expands, but I as the user can't delete the lines that say Section 1 or 2, or the place holder for the chart. However if I type a lot of text, I need to display where the page breaks are with a dashed line or something, so the user can make sure the content enters appears on the desired page. If I type a lot here for example, section 2 will get pushed onto the next page} Section 2: State why this is a Good Idea [ PLACE HOLDER FOR CHART . . . ] Section 3: Additional Remarks:

  • Automatically minifying attribute/element names when using XmlSerializer

    - by frou
When serializing a C# class using XmlSerializer, the attributes/elements representing the properties of the class will have the same names as they do in the source code. I know you can override this by doing like so: [XmlAttribute("num")] public int NumberOfThingsThatAbcXyz { get; set; } I'd like the generated XML for my classes to be as compact as possible, but obviously still capable of being automatically deserialized on the other side. Is there a way to have these names minified as much as possible without having to manually think of and annotate everything with a short string? The resultant XML being easily human readable isn't a concern.

  • Testing if a UI element is hidden in an OCUnit test

    - by Logan Serman
I have a button that is hidden under certain circumstances that I wish to test. The button is hidden with [theButton setHidden: YES] in the viewDidLoad method if it is appropriate. For simplicity, lets say that the button is hidden when the buttonIsHidden property is set to true in the view controller. Right now I am trying the following: self.viewController = [[ViewController alloc] init]; self.viewController.buttonIsHidden = YES; [self.viewController loadView]; UIButton *theButton = [...] // function I wrote to retrieve the button based on it's touch up inside action if (theButton) { NSLog(@"%c", theButton.hidden); return (theButton.hidden == true) } return NO; It looks like the hidden property is not what it should be, the NSLog lines from the above code are blank. But, if I output another property like the height, it outputs the correct value so I know it is getting the right button. How do I access the hidden property of the button in this case?

  • jQuery click event still firing on filtered element

    - by Phil.Wheeler
I'm trying to filter button events based on whether they have a CSS class assigned to them or not. Assume I have a button like this: <button id="save-button" class="ui-state-default ui-corner-all">Save</button> I want to get jQuery to select all buttons that currently do not have a class of "ui-state-disabled". The selector I'm using looks like this: $('#save-button:not(.ui-state-disabled)').click(function() { ... }); When the button is clicked, I'll call a different function, do some stuff and then add the class 'ui-state-disabled' to the button. However the button still continues to accept click events. I'm guessing this is because of two possible causes: The event binder looks only at the initial state when binding the click event and doesn't recognise that a new class has been added later on My filter ['... :not(.ui-state-disabled)] is not correct Any observations?

  • JQuery: Run animations on the element's contents

    - by BHare
I have a div that has some padding, border, and style applied to it. Inside the div I have just some plain text. Something like this: <div id=test style="border: 2px solid black; background-color: blue;"> The text I would like to animate </div> Normally to animate the contents I would do something like this: $('#test > *').hide(1000); But apparently the > * only selects child elements, and not non-elements (text for example) So my current work around is: <div id=test style="border: 2px solid black; background-color: blue;"> <span>The text I would like to animate</span> </div> Making a span that is not really needed.

  • Split number and put each digit to separate html element

    - by Seven
The problem is that I do not know how to break the loop for the first number and start again for the next one. Currently, one span.nNumber has a total digits of the two numbers (123456) and the next span.nNumber contains digits only from another number (456). Goal is to create sequence 123 and 456: <span class='nNumber'> <span>1</span> <span>2</span> <span>3</span> </span> and <span class='nNumber'> <span>4</span> <span>5</span> <span>6</span> </span> Example script: http://jsfiddle.net/PZ8Pt/2/

  • Windows 7/Outlook 2010 cut off controls on form windows

    - by D..
I am running windows 7 with multiple monitors. 2 at 1920 x 1200 and 1 at 1600x900 resolution. Controls are cut off and I cannot view the entire content of the window. As far as I can tell I only have the issue with Outlook 2010, it may be present in other applications but I haven't noticed it. For example to get to the more settings button I have to use tab and then click enter. The more settings button is never visible. I have used applications that allow you to force windows to be resizable, however the anchoring is such that it remains cut off. This has been present over multiple clean installs on the system. My DPI is set to 100% unlike this issue.

  • Animate rotating SVG element on webpage

    - by Zarkonnen
So I have an SVG file created in Inkscape embedded in a webpage, and I'd like it to rotate slowly. I've tried using Javascript and inserting animation commands directly into the SVG, but nothing works. I don't want to load in an entire JS library for this one task. This is what I have so far: <html> <body bgcolor="#333333"> <embed src="gear.svg" id="gear" width="1000" height="1000" style="position: absolute; top: -500px; left: -500px;" /> <script type="text/javascript"> var gear = document.getElementById("gear"); window.setInterval(function() { // Somehow animate the gear. }, 10); </script> </body> </html>

  • Applying JQuery UI css to a textarea element

    - by Felix Guerrero
Hi. I'm using JQuery UI for a web based development at the University. I got some forms that I put into a dialog, so I got elements like <label for="name">ID user</label><input type="text" name="iduser" size="15" id="iduser" class="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" maxlength=12 /> But I got some textarea elements like <label for="name">Description</label><textarea name="description" id="description" class="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" value=""></textarea> The issue: textarea is not taking the css as inputs does, I mean, I got corner rounder textarea as input texts but the font size and font family don't.

  • Applying the Decorator Pattern to Forms

    - by devoured elysium
I am trying to apply the Decorator Design Pattern to the following situation: I have 3 different kind of forms: Green, Yellow, Red. Now, each of those forms can have different set of attributes. They can have a minimize box disabled, a maximized box disabled and they can be always on top. I tried to model this the following way: Form <---------------------------------------FormDecorator /\ /\ |---------|-----------| |----------------------|-----------------| GreenForm YellowForm RedForm MinimizeButtonDisabled MaximizedButtonDisabled AlwaysOnTop Here is my GreenForm code: public class GreenForm : Form { public GreenForm() { this.BackColor = Color.GreenYellow; } public override sealed Color BackColor { get { return base.BackColor; } set { base.BackColor = value; } } } FormDecorator: public abstract class FormDecorator : Form { private Form _decoratorForm; protected FormDecorator(Form decoratorForm) { this._decoratorForm = decoratorForm; } } and finally NoMaximizeDecorator: public class NoMaximizeDecorator : FormDecorator { public NoMaximizeDecorator(Form decoratorForm) : base(decoratorForm) { this.MaximizeBox = false; } } So here is the running code: static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Application.Run(CreateForm()); } static Form CreateForm() { Form form = new GreenForm(); form = new NoMaximizeDecorator(form); form = new NoMinimizeDecorator(form); return form; } The problem is that I get a form that isn't green and that still allows me to maximize it. It is only taking in consideration the NoMinimizeDecorator form. I do comprehend why this happens but I'm having trouble understanding how to make this work with this Pattern. I know probably there are better ways of achieving what I want. I made this example as an attempt to apply the Decorator Pattern to something. Maybe this wasn't the best pattern I could have used(if one, at all) to this kind of scenario. Is there any other pattern more suitable than the Decorator to accomplish this? Am I doing something wrong when trying to implement the Decorator Pattern? Thanks
