What i intend to do is get z.php to read a text file called 'sites.txt' which has a list of sites: site1.com/a.php site2.com/b.php site3.com/c.php to execute the urls in the sites in 'sites.txt' i want it to go through siteA.com/z.php?ip=xxx.xxx.xx.xxx&location=UK (z.php will then read 'sites.txt') All sites in the 'sites.txt' file will be executed as site1.com/a.php?ip=xxx.xxx.xx.xxx&location=UK site2.com/b.php?ip=xxx.xxx.xx.xxx&location=UK I hope that makes more sense, i have tried looking around but couldnt find what i was looking for.   I know very well about the traditional arguments about why Interface Inheritance is prefered to multiple inheritance, there has been already a post here : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/191691/should-c-include-multiple-inheritance But according to Stroustrup the real reason why Microsoft and Sun decided to get rid off multiple inheritance is that they have vested interest to do so: instead of putting features in the languages, they put in frameworks so that people then become tied to their platform instead of people having the same capability at a language standard level. What do you think ? Why Sun and Microsoft consider developers too immature to just make the choice themselves ?

• Image links work but show "broken image" in IE.

  I have a problem. I have made some image files for a menu. They work fine in Firefox, but IE (8, haven't tested with others) and Chrome show a broken image.. Image, on top. Even though the images work. The page is here: http://www.silkeborgmuseum.dk/udvikling/index.php This is a very old page of mine but I need to make it work. I have tried searching google and stackoverflow, but have not so far been able to find anyone else having this problem or what is causing it. Can anyone help? As a parting comment, I will say that I have only been developing websites for a few months, but wow, i already hate IE with a fiery passion.

• Working with Japanese filenames in PHP 5.3 and Windows Vista?

  I'm currently trying to write a simple script that looks in a folder, and returns a list of all the file names in an RSS feed. However I've hit a major wall... Whenever I try to read filenames with Japanese characters in them, it shows them as ?'s. I've tried the solutions mentioned here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/482342/php-readdir-problem-with-japanese-language-file-name - however they do not work for some reason, even with: header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8'); setlocale(LC_ALL, 'en_US.UTF8'); mb_internal_encoding("UTF-8"); At the top (Exporting as plain text until I can sort this out). What can I do? I need this to work and I don't have much time.

• Why does the assignment operator return a value and not a reference?

  I saw the example below explained on this site and thought both answers would be 20 and not the 10 that is returned. He wrote that both the comma and assignment returns a value, not a reference. I don't quite understand what that means. I understand it in relation to passing variables into functions or methods i.e primitive types are passed in by value and objects by reference but I'm not sure how it applies in this case. I also understand about context and the value of 'this' (after help from stackoverflow) but I thought in both cases I would still be invoking it as a method, foo.bar() which would mean foo is the context but it seems both result in a function call bar().   I know this is quite a vague question -- sorry about that. If I have a forum, shoutbox or something similar where users enter and submit data, running on PHP and MySQL, what is the best way to have the newly submitted content automatically display on the page for all users when it is submitted? Much like a live newsfeed, if you like... The effect sort-of works here at stackoverflow, when you are answering a question you are told when new answer is submitted. I want to test for newly submitted content and then display it automatically. Any suggestions? Many thanks :)

  Hi, I'm new to Android, I've followed the hello world tutorial through and have a basic idea of what's going on. I'm particularly interested in the touch screen of my T-Mobile Pulse so just to get me started I want to be able to write the co-ordinates of a tocuh event on the screen, so say the user touched the co-ordinate 5,2 - a textview on the screen would display that. At present I have a simple program that just loads an xml file which contains the textview I intend to write the co-ordinates in. • How can I measure distance with tastypie and geodjango?

  Using Tastypie and GeoDjango, I'm trying to return results of buildings located within 1 mile of a point. The TastyPie documentation states that distance lookups are not yet supported, but I am finding examples of people getting it work, such as this discussion and this discussion on StackOverflow, but no working code examples that can be applied. The idea that I am trying to work with is if I append a GET command to the end of a URL, then nearby locations are returned, for example: http://website.com/api/?format=json&building_point__distance_lte=[{"type": "Point", "coordinates": [153.09537, -27.52618]},{"type": "D", "m" : 1}] But when I try that, all I get back is: {"error": "Invalid resource lookup data provided (mismatched type)."} I've been pouring over the Tastypie document for days now and just can't figure out how to implement this. I'd provide more examples, but I know they'd be all terrible. All advice is appreciated, thank you!

  Hi, i would like to know, what is the best way to send files between python and C# and vice versa. I have my own protocol which work on socket level, and i can send string and numbers in both ways. Loops works too. With this i can send pretty much anything, like package of users id, if it is simple data. But soon i will start sending whole files, maybe xml or executables. Simple server with files is no an option because i want sending files from client too. • Python: How to quit CLI when stuck in blocking raw_input?

  I have a GUI program which should also be controllable via CLI (for monitoring). The CLI is implemented in a while loop using raw_input. If I quit the program via a GUI close button, it hangs in raw_input and does not quit until it gets an input. How can I immediately abort raw_input without entering an input? I run it on WinXP but I want it to be platform independent, it should also work within Eclipse since it is a developer tool. Python version is 2.6. I searched stackoverflow for hours and I know there are many answers to that topic, but is there really no platform independent solution to have a non-blocking CLI reader? If not, what would be the best way to overcome this problem? Thanks

I want to know if it is possible to create a search feature (search box) on an HTML webpage that will query a database and return the results? Basically I have a database of products and their related categories.   What are the legalities of letting someone borrow a book that you have purchased that so happens to be in PDF format with no DRM? I know that I can lend a printed book to someone and this not infringe copyright, but a pdf?
