  I need to draw thick textured line segments in OpenGL. Actually I need curves made out of short line segments. Here is what I have: In the upper left is an example of two connected line segments. The second image shows once the lines are given width, they overlap. If I apply a texture that uses translucency, the overlap looks terrible. The third image shows that both lines are shortened by half the amount necessary to make the thick line corners just touch. This way I can fill the space between the lines with a triangle. On the right you can see this works well (ignore the horizontal line when the crappy texture repeats). But it doesn't always work well. In the bottom left the curve is made of many short line segments. Note the incorrect texture application. My program is written in Java, making use of the LWJGL OpenGL binding (and minor use of Slick, a 2D helper framework). I've made a zip file that contains an executable JAR so you can easily see the problem. It also has the Java code (there is only one source file) and an Eclipse project, so you can instantly run it through Eclipse and hack at it if you like. Here she is: http://n4te.com/temp/lines.zip To run, execute "java -jar lines.jar". You may need "-Djava.library.path=." before -jar if you are not on Windows. Press space to toggle texture/wireframe. The wireframe only shows the line segments, the triangle between them isn't drawn. I don't need to draw arbitrary lines, just bezier curves similar to what you see in the program. Sorry the code is a bit messy, once I have a solution I will refactor. I have investigated using GLUtessellator. It greatly simplified construction of the line, but I found that applying the texture was perfect. It worked most of the time (top image below), but long vertical curves would have severe texture distortion (bottom image below): This turned out to be much easier to code, but in the end worse than my approach. I believe what I'm trying to do is called "line tessellation" or "stroke tessellation". I assume this has been solved already? Is there standard code I can leverage? Otherwise, how can I fix my code so that the texture does not freak out on short, vertical curves?

• Visual Studio Code Analysis: CA0001 Error Running Code Analysis - object reference not set to an instance of an object

  For a WPF application being developed in VS 2012 (Ultimate), the application runs fine when a particular project's code analysis is disabled. Enabling it results in the error above. This was working fine until recently (i.e. running with code analysis enabled for the particular project) and the only recent change I can think of is removing NHibernate Profiler (using NuGet). Will be grateful for any pointers on how to debug this, or to see a more detailed log/error message.

• CFBundleVersion error even though new version is higher

  When trying to upload an upgrade binary to iTunes Connect, I am getting this error message even though I have updated CFBundleVersion in my info.plist file to a higher value (and checked the package contents after building it to be sure it copied over). I have already successfully submitted a different app upgrade by doing this same method, but for whatever reason it won't work this time. Any insights or is this an iTunes bug? The binary you uploaded was invalid. The key CFBundleVersion in the Info.plist file must contain a higher version than that of the previously uploaded version.

  Is it possible programmatically to discover the exported names (globals, entry points, whatever) in a Windows DLL file without implementing a parser for the binary executable file format itself? I know there are tools to do this (though no open source ones I've found), but I'm curious whether there is a Windows API to accomplish the same thing or whether such tools operate merely by examining the binary file directly. I suspect there is an API for .NET libraries: if that's the case then is there a similar one for native DLLs? Edit: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1128150 is basically an exact duplicate. The answer there is roughly "there is no API, but you can hack it using LoadLibraryEx() and navigating a few resulting data structures". Edit: I was able to use the accepted answer at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1128150 to create a quick DLL dumper with Python and ctypes that works.

• OpenXML SDK: Make Excel recalculate formula

  I update some cells of an Excel spreadsheet through the Microsoft Office OpenXML SDK 2.0. Changing the values makes all cells containing formula that depend on the changed cells invalid. However, due to the cached values Excel does not recalculate the formular, even if the user clicks on "Calculate now". What is the best way to invalidate all dependent cells of the whole workbook through the SDK? • Windows Workflow Foundation 4 (WF4) Bookmark

  I'm working with Visual Studio 2010 and have a workflow where I'm trying to resume a bookmark. The bookmark appears to be getting set just fine, but when I try to run the code below to resume it, I get an entry in the InstancesTable in the persistence database with the SurrogateLockOwnerID field set to an integer, usually this field is null, and I can no longer do anything with the workflow. I think this is indicating that I have some kind of blocking lock going on, but I can't find any references anywhere to the SurrogateLockOwnerID. Does anyone know what is causing this, and how to fix it? • glm matrix conversion for DirectX

  For on of the coursework specification I need to work with DirectX, so I tried to implement a DirectX Renderer in my small cross-platform framework (to have it optionally available for Windows). Since I want to stick to my dependencies I want use glm for vector/matrix/quaternions math. The vectors seem to be fully compatible with DirectX, but the glm::mat4 is not working properly in DirectX Effects Framework. I assumed the reason is that DirectX uses row majors layouts and OpenGL column majors (although if I remember right internally in HLSL DX uses column major as well), so I transposed the matrix, but I still get no proper results compared to using XNA-Math. XNA-Version of the code (works): XMMATRIX world = XMMatrixIdentity(); XMMATRIX view = XMMatrixLookAtLH(XMVectorSet(5.0, 5.0, 5.0, 1.0f), XMVectorZero(), XMVectorSet(0.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f)); XMMATRIX proj = XMMatrixPerspectiveFovLH(0.25f*3.14f, 1.25f, 1.0f, 1000.0f); XMMATRIX worldViewProj = world*view*proj; m_fxWorldViewProj->SetMatrix(reinterpret_cast<float*>(&worldViewProj)); This works flawlessly and displays the expected colored cube. I want to be able to both serialize and deserialize the XML between XML and C# objects, however, using the objects generated by xsd.exe, the C# serialization includes the xmlns:xsi..., xsi:... etc XML attributes on the root element of the document that gets generated. Is there anyway to disable this so that absolutely no XML attribute nodes get put out in the resulting XML ? The XML document should be elements only. Duplicate? • Silverlight ItemsControl vertical scrollbar, using a wrappanel as ControlTemplate

  I have a collection of elements, each one with a name and a subcollection of image blobs. I want to display an Accordion, with each item representing each of the MainElements. inside each element, I display the images in the subcollecion of said MainElement. The Accordion gets resized by the user, so I use a wrappanel for presenting the images. When the accordion is wide enough, the images reorder themselves fitting as many as posible in each row. the problem comes when the wrappanel only displays one image per row (because there's no space enough for more), the image list continues, but I can't see all the images, because they don't fit inside the control's height. I need a vertical scrollbar to be displayed inside the AccordionItem so I can scroll down the image list. • C# ThreadPool QueueUserWorkItem Synchronization

  Greetings, I am employing ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem to play some sound files and not hanging up the GUI while doing so. It is working but has an undesirable side effect. While the QueueUserWorkItem CallBack Proc is being executed there is nothing to stop it from starting a new thread. This causes the samples in the threads to overlap. How can I make it so that it waits for the already running thread to finish running and only then run the next request? Thanks in advance :)

  Hi, I am currently struggling to call a non python program from a python script. I have a ~1000 files that when passed through this C++ program will generate ~1000 outputs. Each output file must have a distinct name. The command I wish to run is of the form: program_name -input -output -o1 -o2 -o3 To date I have tried: import os cwd = os.getcwd() files = os.listdir(cwd) required_files = [] for i in file: if i.endswith('.ttp'): required_files.append(i) So, I have an array of the neccesary files. My problem - how do I iterate over the array and for each entry, pass it to the above command (program_name) as an argument and specify a unique output id for each file? Much appreciated, S :-)

  I've tried disabling it by inserting: into my HTML string, and a dozen variations of the above in the vain hope that I just screwed up the tag syntax... but nothing seems to stop UIWebView from scrolling horizontally. And yet there are apps that manage to do this (like MobileRSS), and presumably, since they haven't gotten rejected, they're not using private APIs.

• Visual Studio 2008 doesn't create *.refresh files for external DLL references... what am I missing?

  Hi all-- I've got a question about something that's just been irritating me. A colleague and I are building a support framework for our current client that we want to reference in other projects. The DLL we want as a reference in our project would be an external reference. We're adding it by doing "Add Reference...", then browsing to the location of the .dll. What I want Visual Studio to do is only add the .xml, .pdb, and a .dll.refresh file, but instead it copies the actual .dll (and .xml and .pdb) into the bin. When we rebuild the framework project, the other project that uses its .dll gets all out of whack until we drop and re-add the reference. Everything I've read online says that VS2008 is supposed to create the .dll.refresh files for you, but it never does. Any ideas? Am I missing something or doing something wrong? At this point I'm ready to add a pre-build event to simply copy the framework .dll into my bin, but the .refresh file seems like less of a hassle if it would just work. Thanks, Cory

Within the partial view there is a delete button which calls my controller to delete the item. However, i do a check to make sure the item can be deleted, if the item cant be deleted then i wish a pop-up to appear back on the edit form telling the user they cant delete this record.   I'm using JSF 1.2 with Richfaces, and for every ajax request, the server is sending back the response, whichi is good, but it also contains all the links to the javascript files. I want to improve the performance so I just want the <body> to be returned, because all the javascript files are already loaded in the browser when the user logs in (my app is not restful). How can i do that? • iPhone and HTML5 Cache Manifest

  I am trying to build an iPhone web application using ASP.NET. The page is dynamically rendered once for each visitor. At this point the page can be bookmarked and it will never change again for that visitor. For this reason it should be cached locally from that point on so the application will run if referenced from the bookmark even if no network connection is available. No matter what I try the phone continues to request the page from the server forcing a re-render or it fails if the phone is offline. Louis Gerbarg suggested in this post that I use HTML5 Cache Manifest to get this working however following the w3.org docs does not appear to work for the iPhone. Does anyone have a good example where application cache is working?
