  • Using \b in C# regular expressions doesn't work?

    I am wondering why the following regex does not match. string query = "\"1 2\" 3"; string pattern = string.Format(@"\b{0}\b", Regex.Escape("\"1 2\"")); string repl = Regex.Replace(query, pattern, "", RegexOptions.CultureInvariant); Note that if I remove the word boundary characters (\b) from pattern, it matches fine. Is there something about '\b' that might be tripping this up?

  • more ruby way of gsub from array

    My goal is to let there be x so that x("? world. what ? you say...", ['hello', 'do']) returns "hello world. what do you say...". I have something that works, but seems far from the "Ruby way": def x(str, arr, rep='?') i = 0 query.gsub(rep) { i+=1; arr[i-1] } end Is there a more idiomatic way of doing this? (Let me note that speed is the most important factor, of course.)

  • MYSQL: How do I set a date (makedate?) with month, day, and year

    Hi? I have three columns, y, m, and d (year, month, and day) and want to store this as a date. What function would I use on mySQL to do this? Apparently makedate uses year and day of year (see below), but I have month. I know I can use STR_TO_DATE(str,format), by constructing the string from (y,m,d), but I would guess there is an easier way to do it. REFERENCES MAKEDATE(year,dayofyear) Returns a date, given year and day-of-year values. dayofyear must be greater than 0 or the result is NULL.

    Are there any repercussions using Negative Primary Keys for tables (Identity Increment -1, Identity Seed -1 in SQL Server 2005)? The reason for this is we're creating a new database to replace an existing one. There are similar tables between the two databases and we'd like the "source" of the information to be transparent to our applications. The approach is to create views that unions tables from both databases. Negative PKs ensures the identities don't overlap.

    I have an ets with the next items: [at, {other_place}, me], [other_place, {place}, {other_place}]], [at, {place}, me], [on, {surface}, {object}], [small, {object}] And I have the list [[at, door, me],[on, floor, chair],[small, bannanas]] I need to compare every item in the ets table to an item in the list and if the first one is the same atom, replace the items in round brackets. So if I have [at, door, me], it matches with [at, {other_place}, me], I have to change {other_place} for the atom door in all the ets table.

  • Make a Button Appear Focused When Not

    The Find and Replace dialog in Visual Studio is a perfect example of what im trying to accomplish. Notice how the "Find what" text field has keyboard focus but the "Find Next" button appears bluish as if it has keyboard focus also even though it does not. How can I accomplish this myself? I've tried messing with FocusManager and Focus Scopes without much luck. I suspect i may be barking up the wrong tree? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks

    Need some compact code for counting how many lines in a string. It should be Java Code. And the string is separated by \r or \n will be considered as a separate line. For example, "Hello\nWorld\nThis\nIs\t" should return 4. The prototype is private static int countLines(String str) {...} Can someone provide a compact code?     I am new to TDI. I have a TDI assembly line that calls a web service (ibmdi.InvokeSoapWS) which returns the result as a string in the work attribute 'xmlString'. I then have an AttributeMap that attempts to parse the xml and extract a value (the node it seeks is a few nodes deep). var parser = system.getParser('ibmdi.SOAP'); var xmlString = work.getString('xmlString'); var entity = parser.parseRequest(xmlString); task.dump(entity); The trouble is, the parsed object does not contain an accurate representation of the XML. It contains only two attributes, the first is correctly the first node following the soap body (e.g., ns0:SomeNodeReply), the second being a node inside the first (e.g., ns0:DetailCount). And as far as I can determine, both attributes are just strings so I cannot recurse into the object graph.     I'm using iphone cookbook code to prompt a user for text in a UIAlertView. The cookbook code is available at http://github.com/erica/iphone-3.0-cookbook-/tree/master/C10-Alerts/03-Soliciting%20Text/ In my AppDelegate, applicationDidFinishLaunching(), I invoke as below NSString *str = [ModalAlert ask:@"what is your name?" withTextPrompt:@"ATTUID"]; But my app does not finish loading at all. I get a black screen indefinitely. There are no messages in the console. I tried creating just a UIAlertView with UITextField in the above function and it displays properly. (commenting out her code) Commenting out "CFRunLoopRun()" also loads the app. I'm probably doing something stupid but can't seem to figure it out.

    So I installed a trial of SQL Server 2008 enterprise edition while waiting for MSDN licenses to come through - I now want to uninstall the trial and replace it with a developer edition installation. However, I'd like to first know how long I have left on the trial. Is there a way to do this programmatically with SQL? I looked at create_date in sys.databases, but these give dates that are in 2003 (which is, I guess, when master and model were originally created).
