• Mixing application modules between Silverlight and ASP.NET

  Background: I work in a suite of ASP.NET applications that have several different "modules". The applications all share a main menu, so they all link to one-another. The modules are the high-level areas of the application. So, for example, it might be Payments, Orders, Customers, Products, etc. And Payments and Orders are in one app and Products and Customers are in another. Some of these menu links are "deep links", for example it might be a link to a particular page within the Customers module, such as Create New Customer. The issue: We are about to start a project that will add several more modules to this suite, probably as a new .NET application. I'm thinking about doing these new modules in Silverlight (for various reasons that are not material to the question). If I were to do that, I need to make the menu look the same as the menu in ASP.NET, as the users still need to feel like they are inside one "application". My questions: How should I organize the Silverlight project(s) so that I can "deep link" from ASP.NET pages into particular modules in the Silverlight app? What is even the best idea for creating these different Silverlight "modules"? If I had something that would've been a page in ASP.NET (for example - Create Customer), should each one of those be a separate Silverlight app? Or should it be a separate User Control? Or something else? Should I reuse our shared ASP.NET menu, and deep link to different Silverlight "modules" even within the new application? Or should I reimplement the menu in Silverlight for navigation within the app? Are there menu controls for Silverlight that look similar to ASP.NET menus (with flyout submenus in this case)? Could I maybe even share a SiteMap XML file between them? Edit: After looking around a bit more, it seems like PRISM might be the answer for some of my issues. It would allow me to modularize the different chunks of Silverlight that I have. And it would allow me to define a "master page" in Silverlight where I could host the menu. Do I have this right?

• css table column width not set

  Hello, I'm trying to set the width of table column to a minimum value. The header row (th) was set white-space:nowrap to prevent wrapping. Now all the columns (including td rows) set to a width that of th. I tried to expand the size of smaller columns by setting it in the html as <th style="width:200px;"> and <td style="width:200px;">, but it has no effect. In firebug, in the style section, the width setting is active element.style { width:200px; } Still, the computed tab shows the width is less than 200px.   I want to track the mouse click events on a set of UI components on a set of pages. If I change 'aysnc' to 'false', then the ajax call succeeds. Also, click events which do not take to a new page succeed. Only the click events taking to new page are being canceled. I do not want to make the call synchronous. Any ideas, what could be the issue? How can I guarantee that the asynchronous call before is finished when the click event takes to a new page?

• Parsing tables, cells with Html agility in C#

  I need to parse Html code. More specifically, parse each cell of every rows in all tables. Each row represent a single object and each cell represent different properties. I want to parse these to be able to write an XML file with every data inside (without the useless HTML code). • quicktime movie layering issues

  I have a site (link below) where the clients work displays on a long horizontal page. The menu is fixed on the left hand side and the images disappear under the menu when scrolling across. The client has now uploaded quicktime movies which do not go under the menu like the images but scroll over the menu. http://www.calebchurchill.com/projects/horny_dog/ I have tried to sort this using z-index but am so far been unsuccessful. Any ideas?

• Windows XP error message: "Windows cannot find 'explorer.exe'"

  In Windows XP I can open "My Computer" and see all the hard drives. I can also see the explorer.exe process running among other processes in Task Manager. But after opening "My Computer", when I double click on one of the drives to open it, I get the following error message: Windows cannot find 'explorer.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click search. Although I could detect and remove several suspicious files using Malwarebytes & Microsoft Security Essentials, the problem still remains. The interesting point is that if I right click on one folder and select Open or Explore from the menu bar, I can open the folder! but if I double click on the folder, it does not open and I get the above error message. How can I fix this problem? Any advice would be appreciated! Update: I formatted the C: drive (NTFS), a deep format, and installed a fresh Windows XP on it. I am not getting this error when I double click on C drive icon anymore. But the same error appears when I double click on other drive names. Maybe I should format them too!

  I have a functioning jquery accordion using pure unordered lists. I'm trying to incorporate 2 pieces of functionality. • IE is ignoring Z-Index on positioned elements

  IE yet again is proving to be the bane of my existence. The top of a site I'm working on has a horizontal menu, an item of which triggers a pure-CSS menu that is positioned absolute within the parent menu DIV (positioned relative). This places the menu perfectly in both IE and the W3C compliant browsers. The problem arises when I have more positioned elements further down on the page. These are also positioned relative, because there is data inside them that needs to be positioned absolute... again, this displays properly in all browsers I've tested it on. The problem is, that then the top menu is opened, part is obscured by the positioned elements further down the page - in effect, it's positioned BELOW these elements even though there are z-index properties defined on all. (in both the CSS file and inline). The only way to get IE to display this properly is to place the actual HTML for the menu at the bottom of the page, below (in DOM terms) the positioned elements elsewhere on the page. I would only do this as an absolute last resort. All Elements are the same type (div). But the picture differs a bit: Things I've tried to investigate the issue: PyPy. The curve is ok. Disabled the GC using the gc module. Wrong guess. Debug output showed that it doesn't even run until the end of the test. Memory profiling using meliae - nothing special or suspicious. ` I had another implementation (a recursive one using the same merge function), it acts the similar way. The more full test cycles I create - the more "jumps" there are in the curve. So how can this behaviour be explained and - hopefully - fixed? UPD: changed lists to collections.deque UPD2: added the full test code UPD3: I use Python 2.7.1 on a Ubuntu 11.04 OS, using a quad-core 2Hz notebook. I tried to turn of most of all other processes: the number of spikes went down but at least one of them was still there.

The clickable area is a Silverlight Grid control. Currently: When you first click, I am: Dropping a marker at the click point. Creating an ellipse and parenting it to the Grid. Creating and setting an AngleTransform on the ellipse. As you move the mouse, I am: Calculating the distance to the first click point. Setting the Width of the ellipse to this length. Calculating the angle of a line to the click point and the Grid's X-Axis. Setting the Ellipse's AngleTransform Angle to this angle. So far, so good. The ellipse is displayed, and its length and angle of rotation follow the mouse as it moves. However, the major axis of the ellipse is offset from the click point. How do I position the Ellipse so its major axis starts at the click point and ends at the current mouse position?

  Hi everyone. i had just started to learn VB and VS2008 and im doing some system due to my homework. i made a WELCOME form with a timer, 5s to pass to the next form which called Select. After passed to next form, itll me.visible = false. Theres 3 buttons on the Select form which call Customer, Staff and Exit. As i had just start, the button Customer will pass to a MDI menu call Customer Menu with a menu strip button called Quotation. Same, Select will me.visible = false when done. Then a problem occured, i made a Quotation inside the Customer Menu, such as the mdiparent of Quotation is Customer. I expected that the Quotation button will disenable to press after i pressed that button. But i fail to do that. • Google Maps API and "rightclick" events on Macs

  Using the Google Maps API (v3), I can create a map and handle normal click events just fine, but when I want to handle rightclick events, it doesn't work on Macs. I assume this is because a rightclick on a Mac is actually converted to a ctrl-click, but the Google Maps API MouseEvent doesn't provide information about modifier keys, so I can't check for the ctrl key. I tried adding an "capture" event listener to the document that converts the click event to a rightclick event. function convertClick(e) { if (e.ctrlKey) { e.button = 2; } } document.addEventListener("click", convertClick, true) I added an alert to verify that the condition is correct, but modifying the event in this way didn't work. So, I decided to have my event handler set a global flag that my click handler could check. If the flag is set, it means ctrl was pressed, so the click handler just invokes the rightclick handler. var ctrl; function captureCtrl(e) { ctrl = e.ctrlKey; } This approach worked great, except for one thing. The ctrl flag gets set for the click after the one that occured when ctrl was pressed. That means the event handler is be called during the bubble phase rather than the capture phase. Could explain why the event modification approach didn't work. So, my question is how can you detect "rightclick" events from Macs with the Google Maps API? I can't be the first person to want to do this. That said, when I right-click on the map on http://maps.google.com from a Windows or Linux machine, I get a popup box with options like "Directions from here...", etc. On a Mac, nothing happens. So, not even the main Google Maps page has solved this problem. ...maybe I am the first person to want to do this.

  Hi, I'm not sure when this happened but when I was trying to edit a menustrip in my program (in the VS designer), I noticed that the menu items had be grouped or merged. Like: File Edit Format Insert ... Instead of being able to click each menu item and add sub-items to them in the designer, they all were grouped together so I couldn't edit the menu items separately, it's quite painful. I couldn't find any properties related to this, so how could I ungroup the menu items in the designer?

• Fix single entry from mbr

  I use EasyBCD to manage my tripleboot of (1) Windows Server 2008 R2, (2) Windows 7 Professional and (3) Ubuntu Linux. While trying to change the order of my boot menu I ended up losing the Windows Server entry. Luckily I had a boot menu backup (.bcd file) that allowed me to restore my boot menu using EasyBCD. However, when I now select the Windows Server option in my boot menu the Windows Server Recovery Environment starts up. So I have to select language/keyboard layout/etc. and then I have 3 options as shown in the image below. . My goal is to fix the one corrupted Windows Server entry from my boot menu without messing up or losing the two other ones. I'm guessing the Recovery Console (Command Prompt) is the next step and that I will be needing bootrec.exe. But when consulting this page: Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows (about half way down there's a link that shows the bootrec.exe options) I'm getting uncertain. The page lists 4 options for bootrec.exe : /FixMbr /FixBoot /ScanOs /RebuildBcd What option do I need to fix just the server entry of my boot menu? Thanks in advance, Sander P.S.
