  • Setup a https client in Java

    I'm very new to HTTPS/SSL so excuse my lack of knowledge. Right now I'm trying to setup a simple Java client in which it connects to a web server through HTTPS. I've seen some example code online but can't seem to really make sense of it. Also I was wondering if there is a difference between setting it up on a Windows machine compared to another type of OS. If anybody knows a good tutorial on this or can head me towards the right direction it would be appreciated.

    I need a Java RegEx to split, or find something in a string, but exclude stuff that's between double quotes. What I do now is this: String withoutQuotes = str.replaceAll("\\\".*?\\\"", "placeholder"); withoutQuotes = withoutQuotes.replaceAll(" ",""); but this doesn't work nice with indexOf, and I also need to be able to split, for example: String str = "hello;world;how;\"are;you?\"" String[] strArray = str.split(/*some regex*/); // strArray now contains: ["hello", "world", "how", "\"are you?\"] quotes are always balanced quotes can be escaped with \" Any help is appreciated

    Is there a Java convention to refer to methods, static and otherwise, any specific one or the whole overload, etc? e.g. String.valueOf - referring to all overloads of static valueOf String.valueOf(char) - specific overload, formal parameter name omittable? String.split - looks like a static method, but actually an instance method Maybe aString.split is the convention? String#split - I've seen this HTML anchor form too, which I guess is javadoc-influenced Is there an authoritative recommendation on how to clearly refer to these things?

    I am using PBE encryption to encrypt and decrypt some text on an Android application but I get the BadPaddingException: with the "pad block corrupted" message when I use the wrong private key to decrypt the text. My question, since I am not well versed with encryption in Java, is if this is the normal behavior of the encryption API, because I need to do some logic in the case when the wrong key is entered, but I do not know the private key, nor do I store it anywhere (storing just the encrypted and decrypted check text).     I have written a crawler in Perl awhile back and it was super simple giving the high-level capability of libwww-perl. It is so straight forward in fact, it can take the raw HTML response of one request, and create the next HTTP request for you from the FORMs on that page (as in it will parse the HTML for you). Does anyone know any library like this on .NET or Java? Selenium is out of question because it requires the browser to be open, which we cannot accommodate in our implementation)

    Hi, When I try to call a method from a local ejb I have this error : java.lang.VerifyError: com/pwc/lu/ejb/hcfollowup/staff/HCFStaffManagerLocal.getPersonById(Ljava/lang/Integer;)Lcom/pwc/lu/mapping/hcfollowup/hibernate/global/Person; HCFStaffManagerLocal is my local interface and getPersonById an ejb method. Person, the result type. I can get my ejb but error occurs when trying to call getPersonById method. I don't understand why it get an exception for Person class... Any ideas ?

We are using custom GUI text i/o components inherited from Component class using e.g. Drawstring, how well is arabic supported within Component class ? The keyboard input is done with KeyListener getKeyChar, getKeyCode etc.
