  • How to deal with configuration style warnings occuring from TexLive 2012 installation?

    I followed the advice of izx on how to install TexLive 2012 using the texlive-backports PPA. Before I started I removed all TexLive-related packages. The installation finished and everything seems to work fine. The only thing I noticed are some warnings in the output of the installer.     What encoding are the elements of sys.argv in, in Python? are they encoded with the sys.getdefaultencoding() encoding? sys.getdefaultencoding(): Return the name of the current default string encoding used by the Unicode implementation. PS: As pointed out in some of the answers, sys.stdin.encoding would indeed be a better guess. I would love to see a definitive answer to this question, though, with pointers to solid sources! PPS: As Wim pointed out, Python 3 solves this issue by putting str objects in sys.argv (if I understand correctly). The question remains open for Python 2.x, though. Under Unix, the LC_CTYPE environment variable seems to be the correct thing to check, no? What should be done with Windows (so that sys.argv elements are correctly interpreted whatever the console)?

    I recently(A couple of weeks ago) read an article about the future of processing and how quantum-processors and DNA-processors(DNA-computing) are the future competitors of computing since both will completely outperform the computers of this era. In terms of processing speeds, what do we expect from these two different processing techniques ? Personally I believe that DNA-processing will be a major step towards AI. For labs and office work I think quantum-processing which will be more logical. I'm quite excited that i'm still so young - to see what the future of technology holds! Then again my parents will soon find out what the after-life holds... just as bloody exciting, if not more..

    I have made a steganography program to encrypt/Decrypt some text under image audio and video. I used image as bmp(54 byte header) file, audio as wav(44 byte header) file and video as avi(56 byte header) file formats. When I tries to encrypt text under all these file then it gets encrypted successfully and are also getting decrypted correctly. But it is creating a problem with audio and video i.e these files are not being played after encrypted result. What can be the problem. I am working on Turbo C++ compiler. I know it is super outdated compiler but I have to do it in this only.   • Google Analytics - Unable to get GA Tracking

    We've been using GA for a few years with no probs. About 2-3 weeks ago we tried to clean up some of our tracking and on one of our profiles, it's not working anymore (since oct 10.) First, some context then some GA Debugging code. 1. Context. We have the following setup: different root domains AND different sub-domains on one of the root domains. www.website.com www.website.com.au www.anotherWebsite.com foo.website.com baa.website.com So what we're doing is the following: each root domain and each sub-domain get their own tracking code. This way we can allow separate people (from outside our company) to access only their own data. Eg. a manager for foo.website.com can only see data related to that domain .. and see data on the other domains. Have a last account which is the SUM of all the domains. this is for us. so we can see total numbers. So to do this, we have two trackers that fire off, on the page. the individual accounts all work fine - they seem to be tracking data ok. the 'global' account is not working and this gives us the = Tracking Not Installed error. This has been going on since oct 10. So the wait 24/48/72 hours thing is waaaaay over. 2. GA Debug code. Installing GA Debug chrome extension gives the following output. I've tried to hide anything that could be considered secret. UA-XXXXX34-1 == Global account (which isn't working any more).     I've been having a problem with the package manager. I seemed to have installed gforge, partially, but it keeps giving me errors whenever I install something. (Note that the thing I'm trying to install actually does get installed, but there is always an error returned).     I have a method, which takes much time to execute first time. But after several invocations, it takes about 30 times less time. So, to make my application respond to user interaction faster, I "warm-up" this method (5 times) with some sample data on initialization of application. But this increases app start-up time. I read, that JVM's can optimize and compile my java code to native, thus speeding things up. I wanted to know - maybe there is some way to explicitly tell JVM that I want this method to be compiled on startup of application?
