• How to deal with configuration style warnings occuring from TexLive 2012 installation?

  I followed the advice of izx on how to install TexLive 2012 using the texlive-backports PPA. Before I started I removed all TexLive-related packages. The installation finished and everything seems to work fine. The only thing I noticed are some warnings in the output of the installer. • Settings for multiple monitors are not stored

  I am running Ubuntu 12.04. on a Lenovo Thinkpad T400. I connected an external monitor as a second display. The laptop stands under the external screen. The laptop has a native resolution of 1440x900 (16:10), the external monitor 1280x1024 (5:4). There are two graphic adapters: one internal Intel GMA 4500 MHD and an discrete ATI card. Currently, the integrated Intel is enabled. I use the Display application to arrange the position of the monitors so it look like this: The problem: Whenever I restart my computer the configuration gets lost. First, the displays are mirrored instead of extended. I have to press Fn + F7 two times to switch to extended mode. Second, the Display settings still look like this: I know this worked once when I was running Ubuntu 10.10. I cannot tell since when it does not work. Do you know how I can permanently store the settings?

• Unity: Nautilus folder opens in background

  I am used to open a folder from the keyboard with a shortcut. The alternatives are: Use Unity Dash with the shortcut SUPER + F to open the Dash File Lens Open Kupfer with the configured shortcut (CTRL + ALT + SPACE, in my case) Then I type the name of the folder and press ENTER if it is selected. However, the window that opens up is not active but in the background. I have to press ALT + TAB to bring it into foreground. I use Ubuntu Precise (12.04.). Question: How can I configure Ubuntu, Unity, Nautilus so newly opened windows become foreground immediately? Edit: This behavior only happens when another application is already open such as GEdit. It does not happen when the only other selectable entity is the Desktop.

  I installed Redmine on MacOSX Server 10.6.8 according to this installation description. So far everything works fine: When I start webrick the server serves the Redmine pages. The gems and redmine are installed under the user "redmine". After that I aimed configuring apache2 with passenger as described here. As suggested by the description I also installed the passenger-pane which stores its virtual host configuration files in /private/etc/apache2/passenger_pane_vhosts. This is what I came up with after a lot of manual try and error. At least, now I can reach a passenger error page. // redmine.vhost.conf <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName host ServerAlias localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/redmine/Sites/redmine" # RackEnv production # RackBaseURI / RailsEnv production RailsBaseURI / # PassengerUser www-data # PassengerGroup www-data <Directory "/Users/redmine/Sites/redmine"> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> However, the passenger module still runs into the following errors. Error message: No such file or directory - config/environment.rb The /var/log/apache2/error_log of the web server stated the following. [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts [notice] Apache/2.2.21 (Unix) Phusion_Passenger/3.0.12 configured -- resuming normal operations [ pid=21824 thr=2151905620 file=utils.rb:176 time=2012-06-01 18:22:07.126 ]: *** Exception Errno::ENOENT in PhusionPassenger::ClassicRails::ApplicationSpawner (No such file or directory - config/environment.rb) (process 21824, thread #<Thread:0x0000010086f2a8>): I experimented with the user switch functionality of passenger as described in the documentation - as you can tell from my configuration file. • 'send' button error 401

Meantime 'like' button works fine. The application front-end is built with JSF2+Primefaces. Any ideas would be appreciated Thanks
