    This error Thu Apr 8 20:24:15 iPod-touch appname[947] <Error>: Error: Embedded profile header length is greater than data length.\n Thu Apr 8 20:24:16 iPod-touch appname[947] <Error>: Error: Embedded profile header length is greater than data length.\n is logged when a UIImageView is loaded. The view isn't huge but it has a few other UIImageViews as subviews and it might be related to memory, but I can't find anything on this message. Any ideas?

  • iPhone contacts app styled indexed table view implementation

    My Requirement: I have this straight forward requirement of listing names of people in alphabetical order in a Indexed table view with index titles being the starting letter of alphabets (additionally a search icon at the top and # to display misc values which start with a number and other special characters). What I have done so far: 1. I am using core data for storage and "last_name" is modelled as a String property in the Contacts entity 2.I am using a NSFetchedResultsController to display the sorted indexed table view. Issues accomplishing my requirement: 1. First up, I couldn't get the section index titles to be the first letter of alphabets. Dave's suggestion in the following post, helped me achieve the same: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1112521/nsfetchedresultscontroller-with-sections-created-by-first-letter-of-a-string The only issue I encountered with Dave' suggestion is that I couldn't get the misc named grouped under "#" index. What I have tried: 1. I tried adding a custom compare method to NSString (category) to check how the comparison and section is made but that custom method doesn't get called when specified in the NSSortDescriptor selector.     I'm writing an application that will use plugins. In the plugin I want to include a widget that allows the options for that plugin to be setup. The plugin will also include methods to operate on the data. What is is the best way to include a widget in a plugin? Below is pseudo code for what I've tried to do. My original plan was to make the options widget: class myOptionsWidget(QWidget): “”” create widget for plug in options “”” …. Next I planned on including the widget in my plugin: class myPlugin def __init__(self): self.optionWidget = myOptionsWidget() self.pluginNum = 1 …. def getOptionWidget(self): return(self.optionWidget) Then at the top level I'd do something like a = myPlugin() form = createForm(option=a.getOptionWidget()) … where createForm would create the form and include my plugin options widget. But when I try "a = myPlugin()" I get the error "QWidget: Must construct a QApplication before a QpaintDevice" so this method won't work. I know I would store the widget as a string and call eval on it but I'd rather not do that in case later on I want to convert the program to C++. What is the best way to write a plugin that includes a widget that has the options? Brian

  • NO-SQL reliable for small bussines app?

    I'm deciding between go for a NON-SQL engine or a regular SQL one for a document managment system for small bussines. I have experience with firebird/sql server and found a good track of reliability (specially with firebird). This market is full of crappy "servers" (clon-made PC, the mayority), cheap harddisk, rarely use of RAID or anything like that, some are in locations where a power-off is normal, some not have a UPS, etc... (I will include off-site auto-backup to external servers, but that no change the internal setup). (I know about end-user education about such proper setups, but is stupid depend on that, so stick to te point) From the desing point of view, a schema-less database is the way to go for my system, but, I worry if any of the actual solutions (MongoDb, Tokyo Cabinet, etc) are like firebird and survice crash, malfunctions & abuse so data corruption is very rare. The plan is store the office documents there & provide a central repository.

    My earlier question and comments are at "What is ADO.NET". This shows my level of knowledge about c# database apps. Can someone point me to tutorials and/or primers that can help me proceed from where I am (also stated in other question)? I've looked and all I've found are tutorials that talk about general db basics (ie, not helping with VS/C#), or talk about connecting to existing SQL db's. I need help setting one up and configuring it, as well as help on how to create and use queries to test the db schema.

    I've got a vertical market Dot Net Framework 1.1 C#/WinForms/SQL Server 2000 application. Currently it uses ADO.Net and Microsoft's SQLHelper for CRUD operations. I've successfully converted it to Dot Net Framework 4 C#/WinForms/ SQL Server 2008. What I'd like to do is also offer my customers the ability to use SQL Azure as a backend storage for their data instead of local/LAN SQL Server. If I know SQL Azure is in my application's future, should I: A. Switch to LINQ to SQL B. Swith to Entity Framework C. Stick with ADO.Net and SQLHelper Thanks !

  • VB6 app not executing as scheduled task unless user is logged on

    Hi Would greatly apprechiate some help on this one! It may be a tricky one. :) Problem I have an VB6 application which is set up as scheduled task. It starts every time, but when executing CreateObject it fails if user is not logged on to computer. I am looking for information on what could cause this. Primary suspicion is that some Windows API fails. Key points Behaviour confirmed on Windows 2000, 2003, 2008 and Vista. The application executes as user X at scheduled time, executed by Windows Task Scheduler. It executes every time. Application does start! -- If user X is logged on via RDP it runs perfectly. (Note that user doesn't need to be connected, only logged on) -- If user X is not logged on to computer the application fails. Failure point Application fails when using CreateObject() to instansiate a DCOM object which is also part of the application. The DCOM objects declare .dll-references at startup (globally/on top of .bas-file) and run a small startup function. Failure must be during startup, possibly in one of the .dll-declarations. Thoughts After some Googling my initial suspicion was directed at MAPI. From what I could see MAPI required user to be logged on. The application has MAPI references. But even with all MAPI references removed it still does not work. What is the difference if an user is logged on? Registry mapping? Environment? explorer.exe is running. Isn't the user logged on when application executes as the user? What info would help? A definitive answer would be truly great. Any information regarding any VB6 feature/Windows API that could act differently depending on wether user is logged on or not would definitively help. Similar experiences may lead me in the right direction. Tips on debuggin this. Thanks! :)

    I am able to create a new application profile targeted for my iPad, however, when I convert from iPhone to "Universal" device, I am getting an error in signing. [BEROR]Code Sign error: a valid provisioning profile matching the application's Identifier 'rfc1034identifier' could not be found Also note: I am able to run it in the simulator (which does not require signing). It is a very old application ~OS version 2.x or 3.1 that had SDK problems which required more manual process to get the signing code into the build settings, so I would not be surprised if there is some residual foo in the build settings.

After reading it, I added the reference to web service but can`t find a way to make this work. And if it's possible, explain how images are downloaded from wiki (link or image itself).

    I have a CruiseControl.Net project set up to build an ASP.Net project, using an <svn task to pull the latest code from source control. On a successful build, I use a <buildpublisher to copy the site to a deployment folder. My problem is that the buildpublisher is copying everything to the destination folder, including every .svn folder and its contents. What is the easiest way to strip out the .svn folders before copying to the deployment folder?

This started when I put the threading code. Could I have some rogue threads out there? what is the best way to zero in a threading problem? The issue can't be recreated on my machine...I know I must be missing something on how to dispose of a backgroundworker properly. Any thoughts are appreciated, Thanks, Jose

I've been looking around for other projects that people have started specifically for publishing in Django... Are there any publishing specific Django apps you'd recommend? At the moment the only thing I can find is django-newsroom which looks interesting. This is something like what Digg.com does when it is visited by a smartphone. I have found a few tutorials for PHP but none for ASPX, and all I have is windows servers.
