  • Drawing text to <canvas> with @font-face does not work at the first time

    - by lemonedo
Hi all, First try the test case please: http://lemon-factory.net/test/font-face-and-canvas.html I'm not good at English, so I made the test case to be self-explanatory. On the first click to the DRAW button, it will not draw text, or will draw with an incorrect typeface instead of the specified "PressStart", according to your browser. After then it works as expected. At the first time the text does not appear correctly in all browsers I've tested (Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera). Is it the standard behavior or something? Thank you. PS: Following is the code of the test case <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html;charset=utf-8"> <title>@font-face and canvas</title> <style> @font-face { font-family: 'PressStart'; src: url('http://lemon-factory.net/css/fonts/prstart.ttf'); } canvas, pre { border: 1px solid #666; } pre { float: left; margin: .5em; padding: .5em; } </style> </head> <body> <div> <canvas id=canvas width=250 height=250> Your browser does not support the CANVAS element. Try the latest Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari or Opera. </canvas> <button>DRAW</button> </div> <pre id=style></pre> <pre id=script></pre> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script> var canvas = document.getElementById('canvas') var ctx = canvas.getContext('2d') var x = 30 var y = 10 function draw() { ctx.font = '12px PressStart' ctx.fillStyle = '#000' ctx.fillText('Hello, world!', x, y += 20) ctx.fillRect(x - 20, y - 10, 10, 10) } $('button').click(draw) $('pre#style').text($('style').text()) $('pre#script').text($('script').text()) </script> </body> </html>

  • is @font-face server dependant

    - by samquo
Not sure if this has something to do the live host I'm working with, but I'm using @font-face in the following format, @font-face { font-family: 'UbuntuTitle'; src: url('Ubuntu-Title-webfont.eot'); src: local('?'), url('Ubuntu-Title-webfont.woff') format('woff'), url('Ubuntu-Title-webfont.ttf') format('truetype'), url('Ubuntu-Title-webfont.svg') format('svg'); font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; } I'm finding though that I can't save the document because of the strange character in () in local local('?') so I save it as UTF-8, but that changes the character to this local('☺'). Could that be the reason why it's not being picked up on the server? Any other possibilities?

  • Face detection in 100% pure PHP

    - by Yogi Yang 007
I am looking for PHP script that will detect face in a uploaded photo and automatically crop it accordingly. The code should be in pure PHP without depending on any third party API's or Libs. This code will be a part of our existing code for processing images. In fact this is the only part that is missing! I would prefer to have code in PHP version 5.x not PHP 6.x.

  • Activation Function, Initializer function, etc, effects on neural networks for face detection

    - by harry
There's various activation functions: sigmoid, tanh, etc. And there's also a few initializer functions: Nguyen and Widrow, random, normalized, constant, zero, etc. So do these have much effect on the outcome of a neural network specialising in face detection? Right now I'm using the Tanh activation function and just randomising all the weights from -0.5 to 0.5. I have no idea if this is the best approach though, and with 4 hours to train the network each time, I'd rather ask on here than experiment!

  • Is @font-face usable now?

    - by Nimbuz
I have to use a fancy font in a project but I'd really like to avoid sifr and other ugly alternatives so I'm looking at @font-face. However, I'm really confused with several blog/sites offering different views on its usability. Is is ready yet? Which browsers support it today? Thanks

  • Wrong bbox or descent with @font-face and opentype font

    - by wowpatrick
Hey all, I embedded a opentype font with @font-face. Works fine, but the bbox or descent (or baseline/descent line?) is wrong on certain browsers/OSs. The problem is e.g. on a Mac the bbox is not right, that means to center the text in it's bbox I have to set a padding to the paragraph. I guess the font was created on Windows and was not tested on Linux and OS X, and the font rendering engines in these OSs work diffrently. Any idea how to solve withs problem? Screenshot of the font in Windows, Linux and Mac. Form left to right: Ubuntu Firefox 3, Chromium, Windows XP Firefox 3/Chrome, Mac OS X Safari 5/Firefox 4 Beta 8. Screenshot of the fonts

  • @font-face and CSS3 working locally but not on hosting

    - by iamfriendly
Hello chaps and chapettes, I've got a bit of a strange one for you (so to speak). I've devised a little 'coming soon' page for my site which, locally, (on a WAMP setup) is working flawlessly - in capable browsers (i.e. Chrome and Safari), the page looks fine and has a nice little CSS3 transition effect upon hover. And in other browsers, the page visibly looks (practically) identical and the hover effect still works, just without the transition. After uploading to my hosting, the site still looks fine and works fine in Chrome and Safari, but for some reason in Firefox, the @font-face declarations don't seem to have worked and in IE the layout is slightly different. I'm massively puzzled! The files are identical on my hosting to what I have locally. The URL is http://iamfriendly.com/ The CSS Files are visible at: http://iamfriendly.com/wp-content/themes/iamfriendly_comingsoon/css/screen.css and http://iamfriendly.com/wp-content/themes/iamfriendly_comingsoon/css/typography.css Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Richard

  • Canvas - @font-face doesn't work on IE9+

    - by iMoses
I've created a widget which allows the user to locate free-text over an image using a textarea. When saving the image a background canvas application reads the text and calculates its position, then it draws the text to the canvas over the image and saves a new image file. The font I use for this widget is league-gothic which I am importing using the @font-face method. This seems to work great and without any issues on all browsers except (of-course) for IE9 and IE10. When using internet explorer you can clearly see that the font was indeed loaded since the textarea uses the same font, but when trying to draw the text onto the canvas the font-family reverts to one of its fallback, in this case Arial. I've searched quite a bit and found nothing. Unlike most font issues I found that concern the canvas element, I am completely sure that the font has indeed loaded as I am viewing it before saving the result. Anything at all will help me at the moment. If you have any insight, experience with similar bugs or whatever, please share :) Thanks in advance. P.S. I can't expose a code example at the moment, but if it becomes a problem I'll do my best to provide one.

  • Font-face, Raphael and IE8

    - by Sucrenoir
I am desesperatly trying to get some google font faces to work with Raphael (SVG / VML rendering JavaScript library) on IE8. At first i tried the google fonts code. My second try has been to download and convert the fonts to host my own more complete css. Now the fonts show in the html part of the page (inside a modified bootstrap nav dropdown), but it does not work in the VML canvas (generated by Raphael). Example here : http://beta.yetiprint.com/fr/etiquettes-autocollantes/4-etiquettes-couleur-ronde.html Is it possible to get that working in iE8? Any clue?

  • How to gain accurate results with Painter's algorithm?

    - by pimvdb
A while ago I asked how to determine when a face is overlapping another. The advice was to use a Z-buffer. However, I cannot use a Z-buffer in my current project and hence I would like to use the Painter's algorithm. I have no good clue as to when a surface is behind or in front of another, though. I've tried numerous methods but they all fail in edge cases, or they fail even in general cases. This is a list of sorting methods I've tried so far: Distance to midpoint of each face Average distance to each vertex of each face Average z value of each vertex Higest z value of vertices of each face and draw those first Lowest z value of vertices of each face and draw those last The problem is that a face might have a closer distance but is still further away. All these methods seem unreliable. Edit: For example, in the following image the surface with the blue point as midpoint is painted over the surface with the red point as midpoint, because the blue point is closer. However, this is because the surface of the red point is larger and the midpoint is further away. The surface with the red point should be painted over the blue one, because it is closer, whilst the midpoint distance says the opposite. What exactly is used in the Painter's algorithm to determine the order in which objects should be drawn?

  • AABB - AABB Collision, which face do I hit?

    - by PeeS
To allow my objects to slide when they collide, I need to : Know which face of the AABB they collide with. Calculate the normal to that face. Return the normal and calculate the impulse that to apply to the player's velocity. Question How can I calculate which face of the AABB I collided with, knowing that I have two AABB's colliding? One is the player and the other is a world object. Here's what that looks like (problem collision circled in white): Thank you for your help.

  • Where do I input a piece of code in Emacs?

    - by Vivi
Hi there, I have just started using Emacs for the specific purpose of editing latex documents. I was attracted to Emacs because I want to be able to customize syntax highlighting even to the point of defining the colors of specific words. I am new to Emacs and not a programmer, so I having an extreme difficulty in doing what I want to do because most help I find assume too much knowledge for my level (it took me days just to be able to install emacs + auctex and change the first face color). I found something that I think will help me but I don't know how to do it. The post below is what I want to do, but what I am supposed to do with this code? Where should I insert it or where should I type it? I am using GNU Emacs in Windows. Thank you so much for you help :) M-x what-face will print the face found at the current point. And the code for that is: (defun what-face (pos) (interactive "d") (let ((face (or (get-char-property (point) 'read-face-name) (get-char-property (point) 'face)))) (if face (message "Face: %s" face) (message "No face at %d" pos)))) By the way, I found this in another post that can be found here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1242352/get-font-face-under-cursor-in-emacs

  • Adding my face to my web-site in Google's search result

    - by Roman Matveev
I'm trying to accomplish the rich snippet to the template of my future web-site. The data format is review and I used the microdata formatting to add all necessary information to the web-page. The Structured Data Testing Tool delivered rating, author information and review date: However there is no my face image and the sections related to authorship are empty: I made all that recommended to link my Google+ profile to the web-site: I did something wrong? Or I will not be able to see my face in the test tools ever and it will be in the real SERP?

  • Unity: Render 2D textures on a 3D object's face

    - by www.Sillitoy.com
I am not familiar with 3D graphics and I'd like to know what is the right way to render some 2D figures on different points of a wider face of a 3D object. My 3D object is just a cube representing a poker table. I have 2D png for players placeholders and I'd like to render these figures on the 3D object where needed. An alternative solution would be to render the whole face with a big picture containing all the placeholders figures. However it would be a waste of memory and thus less efficient. What do you suggest me?

  • Finding the normal of OBB face with an OBB penetrating

    - by Milo
Below is an illustration: I have an OBB in an OBB (see below for OBB2D code if needed). What I need to determine is, what face it is in, and what direction do I point the normal? The goal is to get the OBB out of the OBB so the normal needs to face outward of the OBB. How could I go about: Finding what face the line is penetrating given the 4 corners of the OBB and the class below: if we define dx=x2-x1 and dy=y2-y1, then the normals are (-dy, dx) and (dy, -dx). Which normal points outward of the OBB?
