    I have these models: class Bill < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :calls has_many :text_messages end class Call < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :bill end class TextMessage < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :bill end Now, in my domain calls and text messages are both "the same kind of thing" -- i.e., they're both "bill items". So I'd like some_bill.bill_items to return all calls and text messages associated with that bill. What's the best way to do this?

    I don't understand: how are webserver and trackers like Google Analytics able to track referrals? Is it part of HTTP? Is it some (un)specified behavior of the browsers? Apparently every time you click on a link on a web page, the original web page is passed along the request. What is the exact mechanism behind that? Is it specified by some spec? I've read a few docs and I've played with my own Tomcat server and my own Google Analytics account, but I don't understand how the "magic" happens. Bonus (totally related) question: if, on my own website (served by Tomcat), I put a link to another site, does the other site see my website as the "referrer" without me doing anything special in Tomcat?

The error is returned that DelivCount is an invalid column name. Is there a better way to do this or am I missign something?   • Can Spring access-denied-handler refer to popup?

    I am working with Spring Security 3.1.x and have implemented method annotation securities. As I want, when I perform a certain action while being logged in as a used that doesn't have the rights, I get a 403 acces is denied in my console! Perfect! Now I would like to catch this 403, and give the user a popup with a custom message. I don't want to redirect users to a page saying that they have no rights. Is there any way the access-denied-handler of Spring can take care of a popup? Or can it only redirect to another page? Maybe there are other options for me? Thanks in advance!

For example lol = [[1, 2, 4], [6, 7, 8], [9, 10, 14]] If I just want to print the first item in one of the lists, eg the 1, 6 or 9, how would I do that? I can only find ways to refer to each of the lists seperately eg lol[0] but not to then refer to an item within that list. Thank you in advance for your help! Cheers

  • How do I use long names to refer to Group Managed Service Accounts (gMSA)?

    Commonly domain user accounts are used as service accounts. With domain user accounts, the username can easily be as long as 64 characters as long as the User Principal Name (UPN) is used to refer to the account, eg [email protected]. If you still use the legacy pre-Windows 2000 names (SAM) you have to truncate it to ~20 characters, eg mydomain\truncname. When using the New-ADServiceAccount PowerShell cmdlet to create a new Group Managed Service Account (gMSA) and a name longer than 15 characters is specified, an error is returned. To specify a longer name, the SAM name must be specified separately, eg: New-ADServiceAccount -Name longname -SamAccountName truncname ... To configure a service to run as the new gMSA, I can use the legacy username format mydomain\truncname$ but using usernames with a maximum of 15 characters in 2013 is a smell. How do I refer to a gMSA using the UPN-style format instead? I tried the longname$@domainfqdn approach but that didn't work. It also seems that the gMSA object in AD doesn't have a userPrincipalName attribute value specified.

For example one owns the username "CoolCompany" on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other websites. Should they provide a URL for each profile? for example: Facebook.com/CoolCompany Twitter.com/CoolCompany ... I often notice that in videos or on TV people may only use the logos but I believe it is not very useful, specially in case that the audience are unfamiliar with a social network...     Wikipedia's definition of software rot focuses on the performance of the software. This is a different usage than I am used to; I had thought of it much more in terms of the cleanliness and design of the code—in terms of the code's having all the standard quality characteristics: readability, maintainability, etc. Now, performance is likely to go down when the code becomes unreadable, because no one knows what is going on. But does the term software rot have special reference to performance? or am I right in thinking it refers to the cleanliness of the code? or is this perhaps a case of multiple senses of the term being in common usage—from the user's perspective, it has do with performance; but for the software craftsman, it has to do more specifically with how the code reads?

  • Is it correct to refer to a performing programming assignments as a "computer labs"?

    Can we say that developing an algorithm is a "laboration"? Are these "labs"? At engineering performing an exercise or an assignement is refered to as "labs" but are those "labs" when in fact it is mainly software problem solving pretty much like numeric methods in math which are not "labs". When studying engineering such as electrical engineering or physics you might do a "laser lab" or a "chemical laboration" if you study chemical engineering for instance. How do you define "lab"? Just performing something experimental? This is sort of double meaning also the physical environment at universities which we call "computer labs" that in fact are just rooms with computers.

Note that the admin user isn't necessarily real admin, they can be just an ordinary user given rights to edit other users.

    If you ask a DB2/zOS engine DBA a question about DB2's behavior, the DBA will refer to the DB2 engine as "he" much the way a sailor uses "she" to refer to his ship. For example: "Once you fill the freespace, DB2 still wants to keep those rows in cluster order in the tablespace. That's why he'll split that page in half, and you end up with lots of half-empty pages. That is, unless the cluster key of the row you've just inserted is the highest in the table, in which case he makes a new empty page, and he puts just your new row into that page. So I wouldn't have to do this REORG if you would just sort your input like I suggested." Does anyone know where this tradition comes from?

    Since you apparently can't create a Silverlight DataTemplate in C#, I'm trying to create one in XAML. I have a converter that I need to refer to, that I have defined in C# in another namespace. I've tried doing this: <UserControl.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="PriceTemplate"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Price, Converter={Converters:PriceConverter}}" /> </DataTemplate> </UserControl.Resources> Where Converters is an xmlns that points to the correct namespace. However, I get a compilation error that says: Type 'Converters:PriceConverter' is used like a markup extension but does not derive from MarkupExtension. I tried adding System.Windows.Markup.MarkupExtension as a parent to my converter, but it apparently doesn't exist in Silverlight. How can I refer to my converter in XAML, without having to rewrite it in XAML?
