• PHP Composer Not Working On Mac

  I have installed a bitnami mac stack mainly because I require at least PHP 5.4.7 version for my project. However, I have run into an issue with composer.   Hi, I trying to create some dirs like this: @mkdir("photos/$cat/$sku", 0777, true) it creates the first directory with 0777 permissions, but when it creates the second is uses 000 as it's perms, so it fails to create the third. A workaround this please? Thanks, Richard.

  Hi, I'm working on visual studio in an x86. I would like to build my application for both x32 and x64. But i need to use the sqlite .net connector wich has a dll for x86 apps and another dll for x64 apps. How do i configure my visual studio to load a reference when my configuration is x64 and another when my configuration is x86? Thanks, Richard.

• How to print a web page that contains flash

  I am using the chromium browser to display the following web page: http://www.primaryworksheets.co.uk/multiws/multi23.html I want to print off this maths worksheet for my son, but all I ever get out of my printer is a blank page. The web page appears to be produced using flash. I have been to the software centre and re-installed the flash plugin, but that did not help. I don't seem to have problems printing anything else. Firefox isn't any better. Can anyone tell me what else I might try? I'm using '11.04'. Thanks, Richard

• Wecam not detected

  after much research ang googling, my web cam is still not recognized. In the time of Ubuntu 11.04 it was working fine. I did a fresh install of 11.10 and not more web cam. All the cheese and camera monotor and V4L tests and all failes with "cannot connect to /dev/video0" or equivalent. The output of 'lsusb' shows the webcam Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05a9:2640 OmniVision Technologies, Inc. OV2640 Webcam What I noticed is that neither /dev/v4l nor /dev/video* exists. If I re-install the v4l package all the /dev/video* are created, but no /dev/v4l If I reboot the /dev/video* are NOT created. I think the trouble is that the device are not created at boot time. I have a DELL Inspiron 1525 and until this fresh install the web cam worked fine. Can somebody help ? Thanks a lot Richard

• Unable to boot Ubuntu 13.10 (nVidia GTX 770m and Intel HD 4600)

  Ever since I bought this laptop I've been trying to install Ubuntu on it. It came with W8 preinstalled. Up to this point, I've been able to boot in UEFI mode with a black screen. I can tell it's trying to use the nVidia card (there's a led on the computer, depending on the color you can tell which GPU is using) and if I press crtl+alt+F1 I can go to console mode. Taking this advantage I tried to install bumblebee and after a successful install the led that indicates which GPU is being used change, indicating that it switched to the Intel HD 4600 graphics. After the installation I tried to initiate the graphic interface (startx) with no success. I also saved the dsmeg output to see if it can be of any help. In order to be able to get to this stage I had to boot with nomodeset option and removed quiet and splash. Anyone got this same error? Any guidance? I've tried other linux distros and so far the only one that is able to boot is Opensuse 12.3 without any issues (but only when I switch to legacy mode instead of UEFI).

• USB Bose speakers with ubuntu 12.04

  On a fresh install of ubuntu 12.04 my Bose USB weren't working at all. I read through a large number of posts here and elsewehre on Bose or USB speakers. I tried many things (modifying a number of different files, etc.). This worked... sort of: USB Audio on 0 volume on startup The AlsaMixer works after I turn up the volume, but the sound crackles a lot. Also, having to use a term mixer to change sound isn't ideal. Any other ideas? Thank you, Richard

• Ubuntu 12.04 freezes when booting

  Translated I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS from the LiveCD, after finalizing the installation process and booting correctly, I applied the pending updates, which asked me to reboot. After rebooting, an error appeared saying "Out of Range". I pressed CTRL+ALT+F1, login to the tty1 terminal and edit the xorg.conf file and add VertRefresh 50.0 - 60.0 to it, which would solve the "Out of Range" problem that was mentioned before. After applying the changed and rebooting again, the following boot screen is all I see now: It freezes there. I even waited 2 hours and nothing happened. Can anybody help? Thank you! Original Instale Ubuntu 12.04 LTS desde el Live CD, al finalizar la instalación inicio el sistema operativo e inicia correctamente, después de aplicar actualizaciones me solicita reiniciar en lo cual acepto. Al volver a iniciar me daba un erro de "Fuera de rango", aprieto CTRL + ALT + F1, me logueo y edito el archivo xorg.conf en la sección Screen y agrego "VertRefresh 50.0 - 60.0", lo cual solucionaría el problema de "Fuera de rango", al aplicar los cambios, vuelvo a iniciar y solamente me aparece la pantalla de inicio (Véase imagen: http://t.bb/fH) y queda colgado, lo deje por lo menos 2 horas así y nada sucedió. ¿Alguien puede ayudarme? • Chrome + Touchscreen + Unity (14.04)

  I've got a Dell 14R with touchscreen with Ubuntu 14.04. When I start Google Chrome by clicking the launcher with the TouchPad or with the Super+ combination, touch support in Chrome doesn't work. When I touch some element, it only gets focus, but doesn't activate the element (button, field, etc). And touch gestures don't work. In the other hand, if I start Chrome by touching the launcher button, touch scroll works in Chrome, even flicking to left does back to the previous page, etc. It doesn't makes sense to me, but is always like this, even across reboots. Anyone can confirm this? Any idea on how to fix?

  which is better for a new Linux user, Linux Mint or Alinux i had trouble getting Alinux to run after install Mint ran fine. We are also with the Tucson Refugee ministry and we have computers given to us all the time then we reload the OS clean it up then we give them to the refugee families. We need something that will run on older computers with 256 or 512m of ram, and i do not want to use Micro Soft Please help. PS is there any other Linux OS you would recommend?????? • How to use a local Leopard Server Mail server acting "like" an Exchange mail server

  We have a local Exchange 2003 server (company .local) who is collecting POP3 mail accounts on a distant (company .com) mailserver. The mails are collected by the Exchange server every 5-10 minutes and stored locally (on company .local), so the users can read them without going on the "real" mail server (company.com) What was explaned to me is that the mail collection is made with POP Now we are migrating on Snow Leopard Server. We have chosen to use a new extension for our local domain: .leo So our mailserver's FQDN is mail.company.leo, and the users have a user [email protected] formated mail address. A) All works fine except that I can't find how to tell the mail.company.leo that he must retreive the mails from the "real" public server (mail.company.com) I'm hoping to use IMAP and not POP. I can send mail using SMTP relay from mail.company.leo but (I know it's trivial) answering is not possible, even if I specify the reply-to as [email protected] (this seems to be related to A) ) I don't know if it's very complicated (I suspect not, but...) to achieve what I want to do, and I'm not a genius. But as I'm a little bit lost, I hopesomebody can or will help me. Solving this will allow us to use iCal invitations too, so a lot of services depends of these mailserver settings Some of you discuss the fact thta we choose to use a "new" tld with the .leo extension. We have no problem for that, we could use .local. no problem ;) We used .leo instead of .local just to differentiate the two systems (Exchange and SnowLeopardServer). The question was not about that, it was just to know if we can set a SnowLeopard mail server to act like an Exchange Server. • Twitter API Voting System

  So I blatantly got this idea from the MIX 10 event. At MIX they held a rockband talent competition type thing (I’m not quite sure of all the details).    But the interesting part for me is how they collected votes. They used Twitter (what else, when you have a few thousand geeks available to you). The basic idea was that you tweeted your vote with a # tag, i.e #ROCKBANDVOTE vote Richard How cool….    So the question is how do you write something to collate and count all the votes?   Time to press the magic Visual Studio new Project button… Twitter has a really nice API that can be invoked from .NET.   This is the snippet of code that will search for any given phrase i.e #ROCKBANDVOTE   public static XmlDocument GetSearchResults(string searchfor) { return GetSearchResults(searchfor, ""); }   public static XmlDocument GetSearchResults(string searchfor, string sinceid) { XmlDocument retdoc = new XmlDocument();   try { string url = "http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?&q=" + searchfor; if (sinceid.Length > 0) url += "since_id=" + sinceid; HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); request.Method = "POST"; request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; WebResponse res = request.GetResponse(); retdoc.Load(res.GetResponseStream()); res.Close();   } catch { } return retdoc; } } I’ve got two overloads, that optionally let you pass in the last ID to look for as well as what you want to search for. Note that Twitter rate limits the amount of requests you can send,  see http://apiwiki.twitter.com/Rate-limiting So realistically I wanted my app to run every hour or so and only pull out results that haven’t been received before (hence the overload to pass in the sinceid parameter). I’ll post the code when finished that parses the returned XML.

• Big Success for the 2012 edition of the Oracle EMEA Cloud CRM Partner Community Forum!

  The 2012 edition of the Oracle EMEA Cloud Partner Community Forum took place on march 28&29 in Madrid. 100 participants from all over Europe had a chance to interact with the Oracle Cloud CRM Product Management team about multiple subjects such as Oracle Cloud CRM and Social Network solutions strategy, RightNow acquisition, Fusion CRM Business opportunities for partners, etc. During his opening keynote, Anthony Lye (Oracle Senior Vice-President and head of Oracle CRM) presented the current Fusion CRM business status, disclosed the overall Oracle CRM product strategy and responded to many questions from the audience. Later on that day, 8 Oracle ISV's presented their Oracle Cloud CRM add-on's and highlighted the value that System Integrators can benefit from as part of a Cloud CRM project. After a very friendly networking diner in a Spanish restaurant, the second day was dedicated to Fusion CRM, with a deeper dive into its major components (Sales, Sales Planning, Marketing) including the Fusion Composers. Briefings on Oracle Consulting Services Fusion CRM dedicated offerings and Fusion CRM Partner Programs concluded the day and the event. All participants rated the event as "good" to "Excellent" and mentioned that it was meaningful for them to plan their Oracle Cloud CRM based business in the near future. • Ubuntu 12.10 stopped during booting

  Good morning, I'm very new to Ubuntu. I decided to change to Ububtu (12.10) for my old laptop (Compaq Presario R3000 with AMD Athlon XP 2800+) that previously used Windows XP. After the installation, the PC restarted but, after a certain activity of the HDD stopped. Menwhile, no information from the screen (blank). Then I retried in recovery mode and the activity stopped at a certain point. I write the last two lines: [ 11.020922] pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket0: cs: IO port probe 0x3000-0x7fff: [ 11.021676] excluding 0x3000-0x30ff 0x3400-0x34ff 0x3800-0x38ff 0x3c00-0x3cff I don't know how to solve the problem. • Problems installing Ubuntu on a vaio with SSD, GRUB installation failure

  I have installed and used Ubuntu in several computers. But now I have a problem that I don't know how to solve. I have a Vaio (Product name: vpcz13c5e), it has a SSD 128gb. I decided to install Ubuntu (12.04, but I have tried older versions as well). Firstly, I tested with live USB, and everything was fine, so I decided go for the complete installation. Then everything went as follows: I chose to use the whole disk (first option, formatting everything). I got a message Executing 'grub-install' /deb/sdb failed. This is a fatal error After clicking ok I got another window with 3 options: the first offers different devices to install the bootloader on (I tried all of them and none works). Second option: Continue without a bootloader. In that case I got You will need to manually install a bootloader in order to start Ubuntu The third option is Cancel the installation. So, I chose Continue without a bootloader. Then I restart the computer (with the Live cd) and in a terminal type sudo fdisk -l but I obtain fdisk: unable to seek on /dev/sda: Invalid argument What can I do? any help will be appreciated.

• Execure a random command from .txt file?

  I have a Ubuntu server, and I'm trying to print a Twitter quote using the app "twidge". So I made a list of tweets on a .txt file. I want to print one tweet (per line) from that file and send it to Twitter via twidge (or what ever other method was possible). I can print a random phrase with shuf: shuf -n 1 /var/www/tweets.txt and it works. It sends me back one of the tweets, but, it does not send it to Twitter, even if the "in line" phrase is a command. i.e: twidge update "bla bla bla" It just prints on the screen, but don't send it to Twitter. I tried turning the .txt to .sh, but don't work... any idea? by the way, i want to use it with crontab, something like this: 15 * * * * shuf -n 1 /var/www/tweets.txt

• Stream sound card output to icecast2 via darkice

  I want to stream to icecast server via darkice, the default .cfg comes with /dev/dsp, witch is OSS, but there is no /dev/dsp in Ubuntu 12.10, so I tried hw:0,0, but it's just the microphone, and I would like to stream all of the sound-card output.
