  • http/html/ajax: show result before site is completely processed

    - by chris
hi! I am looking for a way to show in a webapp in front of a task a wait-message and after it hide the message. The task is running a longer time. I dont know if it is possible at all. The problem is, so far I can see, that the site will be returned to the users browser AFTER the task is completed because the task is part of the site as a inline code replaces by the webserver interpreter (no matter if php, perl or whatever). The only solution I can imagine is to parallel the task with threads or processes and requery the state with ajax in the website. Any idea to do it less complex? Thanks for help! regards chris

  • BlogEngine - Mangling of HTML Anchor Links in TinyMCE Editor

    - by IrishChieftain
When I create the following link: <a href="~/Contact.aspx" runat="server">Contact us</a> The editor strips out the runat attribute, breaking the link. It's also inserting "/page" into the URL which I do not want to happen. Is there some editor setting to prevent this from happening? I've checked here and couldn't find an answer. UPDATE I've added the following to tinyMCE.acsx to allow the addition of the runat attribute to anchor links: tinyMCE.init({ ... extended_valid_elements : "a[href|runat=server]" ... }); This solves the problem with the runat attribute being stripped out. My only remaining problem is the automatic insertion of "page" in the URL. Anybody?

  • HTML Calendar form and input arrays

    - by Christopher Ickes
    Hello. Looking for the best practice here... Have a form that consists of a calendar. Each day of the calendar has 2 text input fields - customer and check-in. What would be the best & most efficient way to send this form to PHP for processing? <form action="post"> <div class="day"> Day 1<br /> <label for="customer['.$current['date'].']">Customer</label> <input type="text" name="customer['.$current['date'].']" value="" size="20" /> <label for="check-in['.$current['date'].']">Check-In</label> <input type="text" name="check-in['.$current['date'].']" value="" size="20" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Update" /> </day> <div class="day"> Day 2<br /> <label for="customer['.$current['date'].']">Customer</label> <input type="text" name="customer['.$current['date'].']" value="" size="20" /> <label for="check-in['.$current['date'].']">Check-In</label> <input type="text" name="check-in['.$current['date'].']" value="" size="20" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Update" /> </day> </form> Is my current setup good? I feel there has to be a better option. My concern involves processing a whole year at once (which can happen) and adding additional text input fields.

  • How can I access attributes of Html elements in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Richard77
With ASP.NET Webforms, I could drag and drop a control on a form and be able to access its properties: if (number == 0) AddButton.Enabled = false; Although I cannot drag and drop a control on a ASP.NET MVC View template, can I change its attributes? For instance: disable a button in some conditions and be able to enable it if conditions change. Be able to change the text of a button from "Next-" to "Finish" etc.

  • How to create expandable FAQ page in HTML?

    - by CSharperWithJava
I'd like to create an FAQ page for my website that lists all of the questions as hyperlinks. When the link is clicked, the answer for that question should expand out beneath it. The answers need to be hidden by default, and preferably clicking the link toggles the answers' visibility. Any thoughts?

    - by Iggyhopper
I guess I need some regex help. I want to find all tags like <?abc?> so that I can replace it with whatever the results are for the code ran inside. I just need help regexing the tag/code string, not parsing the code inside :p. <b><?abc print 'test' ?></b> would result in <b>test</b> Edit: Not specifically but in general, matching (<?[chars] (code group) ?>)

  • How do I check for a css value using jQuery?

    - by zeckdude
After the user clicks on a table row, I want it to check if the table row's background-color is white, and if so, it will change the color to light blue. The code I am using is not working. Here it is: $("#tracker_table tr#master").click(function(){ if($(this).css("background-color") == "#FFFFFF") { $(this).css("background-color", "#C2DAEF"); } }); I think there is something wrong with my if statement. How do I check for a css value using jQuery?

Hey folks, I'm currently developing a site in Joomla, and one of the components I'm using makes use of a PHP file to administer the language. • HTML File upload field style

    - by Steven1350
I am trying to create a file upload field that has a little bit of style to it, but I seem to be having problems finding examples of this. I know part of the reason is that the field itself varies from browser to browser. Any ideas how to do this? Or is there a way to do this without using a file element of a form that can be styled?

  • Python: using a regular expression to match one line of HTML

    - by skylarking
This simple Python method I put together just checks to see if Tomcat is running on one of our servers. import urllib2 import re import sys def tomcat_check(): tomcat_status = urllib2.urlopen('http://10.1.1.20:7880') results = tomcat_status.read() pattern = re.compile('<body>Tomcat is running...</body>',re.M|re.DOTALL) q = pattern.search(results) if q == []: notify_us() else: print ("Tomcat appears to be running") sys.exit() If this line is not found : <body>Tomcat is running...</body> It calls : notify_us() Which uses SMTP to send an email message to myself and another admin that Tomcat is no longer runnning on the server... I have not used the re module in Python before...so I am assuming there is a better way to do this... I am also open to a more graceful solution with Beautiful Soup ... but haven't used that either.. Just trying to keep this as simple as possible...

  • measure rendered html in javascript without affecting the measurement

    - by drawnonward
I am doing pagination in javascript. This is typographic pagination, not chopping up database results. For the most part it works, but I have run into a heisenberg issue where I cannot quite measure text without affecting it. I am not trying to measure text before it is rendered. I want the actual position it shows up at on screen, so I can paginate to where it is naturally wrapped. I am measuring the vertical position of characters, not the horizontal width of strings. The way I do this is similar to this answer in that I am applying a style to a block of text, then measuring the position of the newly created span. If the span does not reach the end of the page, I clear it and make a new span in a linear search. The problem is that the anti-aliased sub-pixel text layout is different when the span is applied. In rare cases, this causes the text to wrap differently when I measure it. I have only seen this when wrapping at a hyphen, and I assume it would not happen when wrapping at white space. As a concrete example, "prepared-he" is the string I am having trouble with. When I measure up to "prepare" it appears, as expected, to be within the current page. When I measure "prepared" the whole phrase wraps down to the next line, moving it to the next page, so it looks like the "d" is the character to break at. I break the text between "prepare" and "d-he" and that is wrong. Trying to evaluate individual characters opens a whole can of worms I would rather avoid. The wrapping changes because, with the new span, the line is 1 pixel wider. A solution to my problem could either be a better way to measure text using javascript, or a way to wrap text in a new element without affecting layout. I have tried setting margin-right:-1px for the class of the span being created to wrap the text. This had no noticeable effect. I am doing this in a UIWebView on the iPhone. There are some measurement related calls that are available in normal WebKit that are not available here. For example, Range does not have getBoundingClientRect or support setting an offset other than 0 in setStart or setEnd. Thank you

  • using OOoWrite, i would like to add custom html elements

    - by romunov
I have 35 pages list of scientific references. In order to upload them to a webpage, I would like to add custom fields before and after each reference. I would also like to find italicized text and add around it. For instance, I would like this paragraph Alouf N., 1973. Biotope et description de Niphargus altagahizi n. sp., Amphipode Gammaridé souterrain du Liban, International Journal of Speleology 5: 49-61. to look like: <p class="cite">Alouf N., 1973. Biotope et description de <em>Niphargus altagahizi</em> n. sp., Amphipode Gammaridé souterrain du Liban, International Journal of Speleology 5: 49-61.</p> Any suggestions how to do this in OOoWriter macros perhaps, or any other application?

  • Html combo box to database record Id

    - by LanguaFlash
I'm fairly sure there has to be a simple solution to my problem, but I am a new web developer and can't quite figure it out. On my page I have a combo box whose values are filled from my database. When the user submits the form, how to I go about converting those values back to the record numbers in the database? Up to now I have been just doing a sort of reversed lookup in my database to try to get the record's ID. This has quite a few obvious flaws and I am sure that there has to be a better way. I am used to MS Forms combo boxes where the record data and ID are never separated. But in the case of a web form, I have no way to do multiple columns in the combo box like I am used to. Thanks! Jeff

  • Print a JavaScript array to HTML, square brackets and quotation marks intact

    - by Mark Gia Bao Nguyen
I'd like to set the attribute of an input form with an array of values (to use for autocomplete search). I have a JS array that looks a little something like this: var suggestions = ["value1", "value2", "value3"]; Using jQuery, I did this: $("#search-input").attr("data-source", suggestions); Desired output: <input type='search' data-source='["value1", "value2", "value3"]' /> Actual output: <input type='search' data-source='value1, value2, value3' /> This breaks the autocomplete as it requires an array (or at least something that looks like a JavaScript array).
