• Strange Bug in iPhone SDK

  Hi all, I found a strange bug in iphone sdk. I try to explain it: I have a number of uibuttons in a view. They are all just images. Every buttons has a title but that is not displayed so you just see the images (all 80x80). I made it all in IB. In my code I position those buttons. Here's a snippet of that code: for(NSString *iconObject in iconArray){ //retrieve UIButtons from dictionary iconButton = [allIconsDictionary objectForKey:iconObject]; iconButton.hidden = NO; //position and resize icon Buttons iconButton.frame = CGRectMake((79 * col) + 28, (70 * row) + 70, 80 ,80); col++; //five buttons in a row if(col%5 == 0){ row++; col = 0; } } That works like it should. But for all buttons that title starts with a 't' the title displays in the simulator (also on the device). The title of the other buttons are not shown just those where the title starts with a 't'. I have no clue what this could be?! I hope I could describe the problem.

• Sharepoint alerts not working when multiple people are in an item

  We use Sharepoint Services 3.0 as a project tracking tool. We have a list set up that contains your basic information (description, etc.) plus we have a "assigned person" column that is of type Person or Group that we use to associate list items with individuals. This column supports multiple selections. We would like to set up alerts such that each person gets an alert email only if they are assigned to a list item. The approach we have taken is to set up a view on this list that is filtered to show list items where the assigned person equals [Me], and then to create an alert on this list that is set to send an email when someone changes an items that appears in the view. This works well when there is only one person in the assigned person column. It does not work when there is more than one person in the assigned person column. Does anybody know why this wouldn't work, or what I can do to troubleshoot? Is there a better way to achieve the end result? We could make several "assigned person" columns and not allow multiple selections, but that seems kind of kludgy.

• NHibernate mapping with two special cases

  I am using NHibernate to map a class to a database table. The Part table has an ID column (primary key) and a ParentPart column (along with a few others). class Part { public virtual long ID{ get; set; } public virtual Part ParentPart { get; set; } } The ParentPart is normally another valid part in the part table but I have two special cases. I have a case where the ParentPart column can be 0 (zero) and another case where it can be -1. Neither of these cases currently represent another valid Part object. I was thinking I could make 2 subclasses of Part (ZeroPart and NegativeOnePart) that would never persist. I want the zero and -1 values to be entered in the column but not persist the entire ZeroPart or NegativeOnePart objects. I am unsure how to map this (I'm using hbm files) or if this even the correct approach. How can I map this so that normal valid parts are persisted but I can also handle the special cases? As an aside: My current hbm file has the Part.ID's unsaved value as zero but I think I can just change this in the mapping to something different and default it in the class.

• How to keep the CPU usage down while running an SDL program?

However, 80 ms seemed to be the highest value I could use to keep the program running smoothly and even then the CPU usage is about 15-20%. Is this the best way to do this and do I have to just live with the fact that it eats this much CPU already on this point?

  I'm entirely new at SQL, but let's say that on the StackExchange Data Explorer, I just want to list the top 15 users by reputation, and I wrote something like this: SELECT TOP 15 DisplayName, Id, Reputation, Reputation/1000 As RepInK FROM Users WHERE RepInK > 10 ORDER BY Reputation DESC Currently this gives an Error: Invalid column name 'RepInK', which makes sense, I think, because RepInK is not a column in Users. I can easily fix this by saying WHERE Reputation/1000 > 10, essentially repeating the formula. So the questions are: Can I actually use the RepInK "column" in the WHERE clause? Do I perhaps need to create a virtual table/view with this column, and then do a SELECT/WHERE query on it? Can I name an expression, e.g. Reputation/1000, so I only have to repeat the names in a few places instead of the formula? What do you call this? A substitution macro? A function? A stored procedure? Is there an SQL quicksheet, glossary of terms, language specification, anything I can use to quickly pick up the syntax and semantics of the language? I understand that there are different "flavors"?

• Devexpress Repository ComboBoxEdit loosing cursor position. Edit.SelectionStart Not being assigned

  I am having an issue with my comboBoxEdit in a gridcontrol. I am using Winforms Devepress 11.2. I clicked in the text of an existing Repository comboBoxEdit, and typed in "appear backwards", however, it displayed as "sdrawkcab raeppa" like it would in a mirror. There are some posts about this topic but none of the solutions seem to work The reason for this is the following foreach (GridColumn column in this.gvNotes.Columns) { var columnEdit = column.ColumnEdit; if (columnEdit != null) { column.ColumnEdit.EditValueChanged += this.PostEditValueChanged; } } private void PostEditValueChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.gvNotes.PostEditor(); } This PostEditor ensures the save button is enabled when the user is still in the current cell. The user does not need to leave the cell or change column for the changes to be posted to the grid. Edit.SelectionStart is not being assinged to the len value.Even though len changes to 1 edit.SelectionStart remains at 0 Does anyone know what event needs to be handled to not loose the cursor position?

• nHibernate storage of an object with self referencing many children and many parents

  I have an object called MyItem that references children in the same item. How do I set up an nhibernate mapping file to store this item. public class MyItem { public virtual string Id {get;set;} public virtual string Name {get;set;} public virtual string Version {get;set;} public virtual IList<MyItem> Children {get;set;} } So roughly the hbm.xml would be: <class name="MyItem" table="tb_myitem"> <id name="Id" column="id" type="String" length="32"> <generator class="uuid.hex" /> </id> <property name="Name" column="name" /> <property name="Version" column="version" /> <bag name="Children" cascade="all-delete-orphan" lazy="false"> <key column="children_id" /> <one-to-many class="MyItem" not-found="ignore"/> </bag> </class> This wouldn't work I don't think. Perhaps I need to create another class, say MyItemChildren and use that as the Children member and then do the mapping in that class? This would mean having two tables. One table holds the MyItem and the other table holds references from my item. NOTE: A child item could have many parents.

Also, if anyone happens to be familiar with this hack, any information on how it works, and where the backdoor and other components of the hack may be hidden would be super helpful and greatly appreciated. • Determine an elements position in a variable length grid of elements

  I have a grid of a variable number of elements. Say 5 images per row and a variable number of images. I need to determine which column (for lack of a better word) each image is in... i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. In this grid, images 1, 6, 12 and 17 would be in column 1 while 4, 9 and 15 would be in column 4. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 What I am trying to do is apply a background image to each element based on it's column position. • Is a control's OnInit called even when attaching it during parent's OnPreRender?

  My original understanding was that the asp.net page lifecycle is run once for all pages and controls under normal circumstances. When I attached a control during a container's OnPreRender, I encountered a situation where the control's OnInit was not called. OK, I considered that a bug in my code and fixed as such, by attaching the control earlier. But just today, I encountered a situation where OnInit for a control seems to be called after the normal OnInit has been done for everyone else. See stack below. It seems that during the page's PreRender, the control's OnInit is called as it is being dynamically added. So I just want to confirm exactly what ASP.NET's behavior is? Does it actually keep track of the stage of each control's lifecycle, and upon adding a new control, it will run from the very beginning?   Dear Everyone, I am trying to sqlalchemy to correctly map my data. Note that a unified group is basically a group of groups. (One unifiedGroup maps to many groups but each group can only map to one ug). So basically this is the definition of my unifiedGroups: CREATE TABLE `unifiedGroups` ( `ugID` INT AUTO_INCREMENT, `gID` INT NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY(`ugID`, `gID`), KEY( `gID`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 ; Note that each row is a ugID, gID tuple. ( I do not know before hand how many gID is per ugID so this is probably the most sensible and simplest method). Anybody know how to fix this. EDIT2 Id is unique cause its an auto incremental value.Ya i have some real duplicates in city column like: Delhi and Delhi. Right.. Now when i am trying to fetch data from it, I am getting Delhi two times. How can i make query like this: select DISTINCT rec.city where state="xyz"; Cause this will give me the proper output. EDIT3: Anybody who can tell me how to figure out this query..???

• C++ Initialize array in constructor EXC_BAD_ACCESS

  I'm creating a simple constructor and initializing an array: // Construtor Cinema::Cinema(){ // Initalize reservations for(int i = 0; i < 18; i++){ for(int j = 0; j < 12; j++){ setReservation(i, j, 0); } } // Set default name setMovieName("N/A"); // Set default price setPrice(8); } The setReservation function: void Cinema::setReservation(int row, int column, int reservation){ this->reservations[row][column] = reservation; } The setMovieName function: void Cinema::setMovieName(std::string movieName){ this->movieName = movieName; } For some odd reason when I run the program, the setMovieName function gives the following error: "Program Received Signal: EXC_BAD_ACCESS" If I take out the for-loop that initializes the array of reservations, the problem goes away and the movie name is set without any problems. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? • While loop in foreach loop not looping correctly

  I'm trying to make a very basic php ORM as for a school project. I have got almost everything working, but I'm trying to map results to an array. Here's a snippet of code to hopefully assist my explanation. $results = array(); foreach($this->columns as $column){ $current = array(); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($this->results)){ $current[] = $row[$column]; print_r($current); echo '<br><br>'; } $results[$column] = $current; } print_r($results); return mysql_fetch_array($this->results); This works, but the while loop only works on the first column. The print_r($results); shows the following: Array ( [testID] => Array ( [0] => 1 [1] => 2 ) [testName] => Array ( ) [testData] => Array ( ) ) Can anybody shed some light? Thanks in advance!

• Is there any reason why jQuery Sortable would work in IE/Chrome but not Firefox?

  I have a fairly straightforward list of horizontally floated items, like this: <div class="my-widget-container"> <div class="my-widget-column">...</div> ... </div> Both the container and each column have a fixed width, set using jQuery's .width(). The container is position: relative and the column is float: left and overflow: hidden. Not sure if any other styles/properties are relevant. When I apply a jQuery-UI sortable to this, the result is exactly what I'd expect in Chome 8 and IE 8; the columns can be dragged around to change their order. But in Firefox 3.6 I can click an item and drag to create a new sort-helper, yet the actual sort never happens; the real item's position in the DOM never changes. I dug around a little in Sortable, and added a debug print to _intersectsWithPointer. Whenever the drag helper moves, Sortable runs through its list of elements and uses this method to determine whether the drag helper has passed over one. What I saw was that item.left had the same value for all my columns, which is obviously not correct, and probably the source of the problem. It looks like all columns had a left position corresponding to that of the first column. I'm using jQuery 1.4.3 and jQuery UI Sortable 1.8. Those aren't the very latest versions, but they're pretty recent, and I don't see anything in the Sortable release notes that indicates any such problem has been fixed. Does anyone know what might be happening here, or have any ideas for further debugging?

• NHibernate many-to-many relationship does not update join-table

  I'm having trouble saving a many-to-many relationship with nhibernate. I searched and looked at almost every same question in SO and google but nothing works. The single classes are update correctly but nothing is inserted in the join-table. I have 2 classes: Event and Category. The mapping is this: Event: <bag name="Categories" access="field.camelcase-underscore" table="EventCategories" inverse="true" cascade="all-delete-orphan" lazy="true"> <key column="Event"/> <many-to-many class="Category" column="Category"/> </bag> Category: <bag name="Events" table="EventCategories" access="field.camelcase-underscore" cascade="all-delete-orphan" lazy="true" > <key column="Category"/> <many-to-many class="Event" column="Event"/> </bag> I tried to swap every parameter in both mappings but nothing works... Do you know what I'm doing wrong or have a right mapping for this case? Thank you very much!

• Loading views dynamically

  Case 1: I have created View-based sample application and tried execute below code. When I press on "Job List" button it should load another view having "Back Btn" on it. In test function, if I use [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; nothing gets loaded, but if I use [self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it loads another view haveing "Back Btn" on it. Case 2: I did create another Navigation Based Applicaton and used [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it worked as I wanted. Can someone please explain why it was not working in Case 1.
