  • Website Reviewing Application/Interface

    - by Eric Di Bari
I am the technology director at a small nonprofit, and we are in the process of making a new website. We have several proposed mock-ups of different homepage designs, and need to receive input from our board members. Is there an online application/program/framework that will receive and organize user comments? I'm looking for something that will allow commenting while viewing the page, rather than just a message board or wiki.

  • Optimizing list comprehension to find pairs of co-prime numbers

    - by user3685422
Given A,B print the number of pairs (a,b) such that GCD(a,b)=1 and 1<=a<=A and 1<=b<=B. Here is my answer: return len([(x,y) for x in range(1,A+1) for y in range(1,B+1) if gcd(x,y) == 1]) My answer works fine for small ranges but takes enough time if the range is increased. such as 1 <= A <= 10^5 1 <= B <= 10^5 is there a better way to write this or can this be optimized?

  • OpenSSL Ignore Self-signed certificate error

    - by Ramsey
I'm writing a small program with the OpenSSL library that is suppose to establish a connection with an SSLv3 server. This server dispenses a self-signed certificate, which causes the handshake to fail with this message: "sslv3 alert handshake failure, self signed certificate in certificate chain." Is there a way I can force the connection to proceed? I've tried calling SSL_CTX_set_verify like so: SSL_CTX_set_verify(ctx, SSL_VERIFY_NONE, NULL); But it does not seem to change anything. Any suggestions?

  • Continuous Integration of Git on Windows

    - by Duncan
Hey All, assuming I'm running a small shop (3 devs) and using a Windows 7 machine as a centralised Git and IIS server what is the easiest way to get CI up and running? This must be locally hosted CI (no github, no remote servers). I'm doing C# .Net development with Visual Studio 2008. Any help on getting this running with the minimum of effort and the nicest possible UI would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

  • How to map non-REST URLS to REST ones?

    - by Krzysztof Luks
I have a small rails app that has default scaffold generated routes eg. /stadia/1.xml. However I have to support legacy client app that can't construct such URLs correctly. What I need to do is to map URL in the form: /stadia?id=1?format=xml to /stadia/1.xml Or even something like: /myApp?model=<model_name>?id=<id>?format=xml to /<model_name/<id>.xml Is it possible to craft appropriate route in Rails?

  • What are the most popular version control softwares and why?

    - by gnucom
Hey Everyone, I'm an employee at a small company that is going to be launching a version control system soon and I'm trying to consider which software would best serve this company for version control. I wanted to get as many opinions as possible. Right now, I'm experimenting with Trac and Indefero running atop a SVN server. So my question is, what is the most popular/favorite version control software and why? ??t??!

  • What video encoder services do you use with s3?

    - by Trip
We were using FFmpeg which is free. And when a bug occurred that broke the system, a previous developer installed PandaStream. My question is, what do you recommend for quality video encoders? Is it best to stick with ffmpeg and keep it free, or does a small website really need a heavy duty service like Panda?

  • What is some good software for designing MySQL databases?

    - by franzferdinand
As above. Usually at work someone else does the database design, and when I do personal projects they're small enough to not really require more than five or six tables, but I'm about to start a personal project that I think will probably require around eleven or twelve tables and I'd like something to help me design it neatly and keep track of it.

  • Python: When passing variables between methods, is it necessary to assign it a new name?

    - by Anthony
I'm thinking that the answer is probably 'no' if the program is small and there are a lot of methods, but what about in a larger program? If I am going to be using one variable in multiple methods throughout the program, is it smarter to: Come up with a different phrasing for each method (to eliminate naming conflicts). Use the same name for each method (to eliminate confusion) Just use a global variable (to eliminate both) This is more of a stylistic question than anything else. What naming convention do YOU use when passing variables?

  • Cross platform millisecond timer lasting more than 49 days?

    - by Cetra
Hey guys, I'm going to be developing a small dedicated server in C/C++ that will require uptime of forever. I've been looking into some time functions as millisecond timing is required for calculations. I have 2 problems that I'm facing: Using a 32bit integer to store the number of milliseconds since the operation began will wrap around at about the 49 days mark resetting to zero. There doesn't seem to be any standard system calls for getting elapsed milliseconds that are platform independant What should I do to resolve both these issues?

  • Python for statement giving an Invalid Syntax error with list

    - by Cold Diamondz
I have some code in which is throwing an error (I'm using repl.it) import random students = ['s1:0','s2:0','s3:0'] while True: print'\n'*50 print'Ticket Machine'.center(80) print'-'*80 print'1. Clear Student Ticket Values'.center(80) print'2. Draw Tickets'.center(80) menu = raw_input('-'*80+'\nChoose an Option: ') if menu == '1': print'\n'*50 print'CLEARED!' students = ['s1:0','s2:0','s3:0'] raw_input('Press enter to return to the main menu!') elif menu == '2': tickets = [] print'\n'*50 times = int(raw_input('How many tickets to draw? ') for a in students: for i in range(a.split(':')[1]): tickets.append(a.split(':')[0]) for b in range(1,times+1): print str(b) + '. ' + random.choice(tickets) else: print'\n'*50 print'That was not an option!' raw_input('Press enter to return to the main menu!') But it is throwing this error: File "<stdin>", line 19 for a in students: ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax I am planning on using this in a class, but I can't use it until the bug is fixed, also, student names have been removed for privacy reasons.

  • Enforce link in Team foundation server bug work item for duplicates

    - by Tewr
We have just started out with Team Foundation Server 2008 / Visual Studio Team System and we are pleased to find how we can export and modify work items to our needs. However, this last thing that would make the setup perfect for us has proved somewhat difficult: We have exported the Bug work item type and have made modifications to it to appear differently to different groups of users. We do, however, see a potential problem in non-developers reporting bugs which turn out to be duplicates. We would like to enforce that users who close a ticket with resolved reason:duplicate also creates a link to the bug which is perceived as the first bug report. I have looked at System.RelatedLinkCount, and put the rule <FIELD type="Integer" name="RelatedLinkCount" refname="System.RelatedLinkCount"> <WHEN field="Microsoft.VSTS.Common.ResolvedReason" value="duplicate"> <PROHIBITEDVALUES> <LISTITEM value="0" /> </PROHIBITEDVALUES> </WHEN> </FIELD> However, when I try to put anything in that scope, the importer tells me that System.RelatedLinkCount does not accept the rule, no matter what I put, but the rule above shows what I am trying to do (even though the most preferable rule would also check that the bug that I link to is not a duplicate as well, though this is overkill :P) Has anyone else tried to enforce rules like this in work items? Is there another approach to solving the same issue? I am thankful for any thoughts on the matter.
