  • Ruby Actions: How to avoid a bunch of returns to halt execution?

    - by Alexandre
How can I DRY the code below? Do I have to setup a bunch of ELSEs ? I usually find the "if this is met, stop", "if this is met, stop", rather than a bunch of nested ifs. I discovered that redirect_to and render don't stop the action execution... def payment_confirmed confirm_payment do |confirmation| @purchase = Purchase.find(confirmation.order_id) unless @purchase.products_match_order_products?(confirmation.products) # TODO notify the buyer of problems return end if confirmation.status == :completed @purchase.paid! # TODO notify the user of completed purchase redirect_to purchase_path(@purchase) else # TODO notify the user somehow that thigns are pending end return end unless session[:last_purchase_id] flash[:notice] = 'Unable to identify purchase from session data.' redirect_to user_path(current_user) return end @purchase = Purchase.find(session[:last_purchase_id]) if @purchase.paid? redirect_to purchase_path(@purchase) return end # going to show message about pending payment end

  • How to intercept and apply effects to Firefox audio/sound output

Im struggling to find any good resources to help me. I think the effects bit will be ok but I need to find a way of intercepting the audio stream output. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks, Tom

  • Rails I18n accepts_nested_attributes_for and error_messages_for

    - by Mike
I've got two models class SurveyResponse has_many :answers, :class_name => SurveyResponseAnswer.name accepts_nested_attributes_for :answers end class SurveyResponseAnswer belongs_to :survey_response validates_presence_of :answer_text end In my nested form if validation fails I get this error displayed on the screen: "answers answer text can't be blank" I've customized my attribute names somewhat successfully using rails I18n. It doesn't behave exactly how I would expect though. The yml file below doesn't affect how the attribute name is printed in error_messages_for en: activerecord: models: survey_response: answers: "Response" But if from script/console I try SurveyResponse.human_attribute_name("answers") I get the expected result of "Response". What I'd like to do is have the validation error message say: "Response answer text can't be blank". Any ideas what I need to fix?

  • Qt Plugins Not Working

    - by Austin
I've created a custom widget plugin. The plugin integrates fine with Qt Creator but when I compile the program, I'm getting this error: "test.h: No such file or directory" Where test.h is the name of the custom widget. What am I doing wrong? • Proper way to setup a UISegmentedControll on UINavigationController UINavigationBar all inside UITab

    - by Kaspa
The title pretty much describes it all. The problem being the handling of the UISegmentedControll callbacks (button presses). If the content type of all of the nested views was the same (i.e. some UITableViewControllers) then I could just switch dataSource'es and reload the tables. However this is not the case, I have 3 very different views in there that allow further drilldown / interaction based on the NavigationControllers. So the way I have this set up ATM is that there is a "container" class that I put all of the UINavigationControllers in. They all share the same and one UISegmentedController and I redirect the callbacks to the container view controller. This does not feel too good at all. Additionally there is a problem when the user taps on the tab bar icon, the navigation controller pops to root which is ... the empty container view. Here's a picture of what I want to achieve:

  • Double associative array or indexed + associative array

    - by clover
I'm undecided what's the best-practice approach for what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to enter data into an array where the data will look like this: apple color: red price: 2 orange color: orange price: 3 banana color: yellow price: 2 pineapple color: yellow price: 5 When I get input, let's say green apple (notice it's a combo of color + name of fruit), I'm going to check if the name of fruit part exists in the array and display its data (if it exists). What's the right way to compose those arrays? How would I do an indexed array containing an associative array? (or would this be better as 2 nested associative arrays, I'm guessing not)

  • math syntax checker written in python

    - by neurino
All I need is to check, using python, if a string is a valid math expression or not. For simplicity let's say I just need + - * / operators (+ - as unary too) with numbers and nested parenthesis. I add also simple variable names for completeness. So I can test this way: test("-3 * (2 + 1)") #valid test("-3 * ") #NOT valid test("v1 + v2") #valid test("v2 - 2v") #NOT valid ("2v" not a valid variable name) I tried pyparsing but just trying the example: "simple algebraic expression parser, that performs +,-,*,/ and ^ arithmetic operations" I get passed invalid code and also trying to fix it I always get wrong syntaxes being parsed without raising Exceptions just try: >>>test('9', 9) 9 qwerty = 9.0 ['9'] => ['9'] >>>test('9 qwerty', 9) 9 qwerty = 9.0 ['9'] => ['9'] both test pass... o_O Any advice?

  • How can I bind a instance of a custom class to a WPF TreeListView without bugs?

    - by user327104
First, from : http://blogs.msdn.com/atc_avalon_team/archive/2006/03/01/541206.aspx I get a nice TreeListView. I left the original classes (TreeListView, TreeListItemView, and LevelToIndentConverter) intact, the only code y have Added is on the XAML, here is it: <Style TargetType="{x:Type l:TreeListViewItem}"> .... </ControlTemplate.Triggers> <ControlTemplate.Resources> <HierarchicalDataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:FileInfo}" ItemsSource="{Binding Childs}"> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> </ControlTemplate.Resources> </ControlTemplate> ... here is my custom class public class FileInfo { private List<FileInfo> childs; public FileInfo() { childs = new List<FileInfo>(); } public bool IsExpanded { get; set; } public bool IsSelected { get; set; } public List<FileInfo> Childs { get { return childs; } set { } } public string FileName { get; set; } public string Size { get; set; } } And before I use my custom class I remove all the items inside the treeListView1: <l:TreeListView> <l:TreeListView.Columns> <GridViewColumn Header="Name" CellTemplate="{StaticResource CellTemplate_Name}" /> <GridViewColumn Header="IsAbstract" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding IsAbstract}" Width="60" /> <GridViewColumn Header="Namespace" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Namespace}" /> </l:TreeListView.Columns> </l:TreeListView> So finaly I add this code to bind a Instance of my class to the TreeListView: private void Window_Loaded(object sender,RoutedEventArgs e) { FileInfo root = new FileInfo() { FileName = "mis hojos", Size="asdf" }; root.Childs.Add(new FileInfo(){FileName="sub", Size="123456" }); treeListView1.Items.Add(root); root.Childs[0].Childs.Add(new FileInfo() { FileName = "asdf" }); root.Childs[0].IsExpanded = true; } So the bug is that the button to expand the elementes dont appear and when a node is expanded by doble click the child nodes dont look like child nodes. • Guidelines to an Iterator Class

    - by isurulucky
Hi, I have a Red Black tree implemented in c++. It supports the functionality of a STL map. Tree nodes contain keys and the values mapped. I want to write an iterator class for this, but I'm stuck with how to do it. Should I make it an inner class of the Tree class? Can anyone give me some guidelines on how to write it + some resources?? Thank You!!

  • How to learn about Threads, Especially in Java.

    - by Javed Ahamed
I have always been kind of confused by threads, and my class right now makes heavy use of them. We are using java.util.concurrent but I don't even really get the basics. UpDownLatch, Futures, Executors; these words just fly over my head. Can you guys suggest any resources to help learn what I need from the ground up? Thanks a lot in advance!

  • How do I clone over HTTP a repository that has no info/refs?

    - by gbacon
Given a repository served over HTTP whose owner forgot to chmod +x hooks/post-update, is there a workaround for cloning it? I tried running wget --mirror url, but rather than fetching the subtree only, it tried to mirror the entire site—which I assume happened due to the parent-directory links in the autogenerated index.html resources.

  • Is this scenario in compliance with GPLv3?

    - by Sean Kinsey
For arguments sake, say that we create a web application , that depends on a GPLv3 licensed component, lets say Ext JS. Based on Section 0 of the license, the common notion is that the entire web application (the client side javascript) falls under the definition of a covered work: A “covered work” means either the unmodified Program or a work based on the Program. and that it will therefor have to be distributed under the same license Ok, so here comes the fun part: This is a short 'program' that is based on Ext JS var myPanel = new Ext.Panel(); The question that arises is: Have I now violated the GPL by not including the source of Ext JS and its license? Ok, so lets take another example <!doctype html> <html> <head> <title>my title</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://extjs.cachefly.net/ext-3.2.1/ext-all.js"> </script> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://extjs.cachefly.net/ext-3.2.1/resources/css/ext-all.css" /> <script type="text/javascript"> var myPanel = new Ext.Panel(); </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> Have I now violated the terms of the GPL? The code conveyed by me to you is in a non-functional state - it will have to be combined with the actual source of Ext JS, which you(your browser) will have to retrieve, from a source made public by someone else to be usable. Now, if the answer to the above is no, how does me conveying this code in visible form differ from the 'invisible' form conveyed by my web server? As a side note, a very similar thing is done in Linux with many projects that depends on less permissive licenses - the user has to retrieve these on its own and make these available for the primary lib/executable. How is this not the same if the user is informed on beforehand that he (the browser) will have to retrieve the needed resources from a different source? Just to make it clear, I'm pro FLOSS, and I have also published a number of projects licensed under more permissive licenses. The reason I'm asking this is that I still haven't found anyone offering a definitive answer to this.

  • How to convert closed bezier curves to Bitmaps?

    - by Sorush Rabiee
I need an algorithm to convert a closed bezier curve (perhaps self-crossing) to a binary bitmap: 0 for inside pixels and 1 for outside. I'm writing a code that needs to implement some operations on bezier curves, could anybody give me some resources or tutorials about beziere? Wikipedia and others didn't say anything about optimization, subtracting, union, knot insertion and deletion and other operations :-)

  • How to configure VTK on windows for C++ programming?

    - by Rasoul
I am new to windows C/C++ programming. I am trying to get a binary program (.exe) to run which needs VTK library. I have installed VTK from http://vtk.org/VTK/resources/software.html on 64-bit windows 7. When I run the binary program, it generates an error in a window saying that "vtkCommon.dll is missing from your computer". Should I add the folder in which VTK has been installed to the windows PATH?

  • Contact Bubble EditText

    - by toobsco42
I am trying to create contact bubbles in the MultiAutoCompleteTextView similiar to how it is implemented in the Google+ app. Below is a screen shot: . I have tried to extend the DynamicDrawableSpan class in order to get a spannable drawable in the background of a span of text public class BubbleSpan extends DynamicDrawableSpan { private Context c; public BubbleSpan(Context context) { super(); c = context; } @Override public Drawable getDrawable() { Resources res = c.getResources(); Drawable d = res.getDrawable(R.drawable.oval); d.setBounds(0, 0, 100, 20); return d; } } Where my oval.xml drawable is defined as so: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:shape="oval"> <solid android:color="#00000000"/> <stroke android:width="4dp" android:color="#99000000" android:dashWidth="4dp" android:dashGap="2dp" /> <padding android:left="7dp" android:top="7dp" android:right="7dp" android:bottom="7dp" /> <corners android:radius="4dp" /> </shape> In my Activity class that has the MulitAutoCompleteTextView, I set the bubble span like so: final Editable e = tv.getEditableText(); final SpannableStringBuilder sb = new SpannableStringBuilder(); sb.append("some sample text"); sb.setSpan(new BubbleSpan(getApplicationContext()), 0, 6, Spannable.SPAN_EXCLUSIVE_EXCLUSIVE); e.append(sb); However, instead of the oval shape displaying behind the first 6 characters in the string, the characters are not visible and there is no oval drawable in the background. If i change the BubbleSpan's getDrawable() method to use a .png instead of a shape drawable: public Drawable getDrawable() { Resources res = c.getResources(); Drawable d = res.getDrawable(android.R.drawable.bottom_bar); d.setBounds(0, 0, 100, 20); return d; } Then the .png will show up but the characters in the string that are a part of the span will not show up. How can I make it so that the characters in the span are displayed in the foreground, meanwhile a custom shape drawable gets displayed in the background? I attempted to also use an ImageSpan instead of subclassing DynamicDrawableSpan but was unsuccessful.

  • in-memory database in Python

    - by Claudiu
I'm doing some queries in Python on a large database to get some stats out of the database. I want these stats to be in-memory so other programs can use them without going to a database. I was thinking of how to structure them, and after trying to set up some complicated nested dictionaries, I realized that a good representation would be an SQL table. I don't want to store the data back into the persistent database, though. Are there any in-memory implementations of an SQL database that supports querying the data with SQL syntax?

  • Convert XCode view-based app to navigation-based app?

    - by Wally
Newbie question: is there an easy way to convert a view-based app to a navigation-based app? I have an existing app sample that was created as a view-based app, and need to be able to create additional viewcontrollers that can be nested. The app is currently using presentModalViewController calls and nibs to display windows. Trying to change these to pushViewController calls results in the views not being displayed. So I'm assuming it's because the pushViewController needs to use a Navigation view. Thanks in advance!

  • Shift+Tab not working in TreeView control

    - by Christian
    I cannot get backwards navigation using Shift+Tab to work in a TreeView that contains TextBoxs, forward navigation using Tab works fine and jump from TextBox to TextBox inside the TreeView. Anytime Shift+Tab is used when one of the TextBoxes inside the TreeView, then the focus is move to the previous control outside the TreeView, instead of the previous control inside the TreeView. Also its only Shift+Tab navigation that are not working correctly, Ctrl+Shift+Tab work as expected and in the correct order. Any suggestions to what I'm doing wrong? Example code: <Window x:Class="TestTabTreeView.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <Window.Resources> <Style TargetType="TreeViewItem"> <Setter Property="KeyboardNavigation.TabNavigation" Value="Continue" /> </Style> </Window.Resources> <Grid> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> <RowDefinition Height="*" /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <TextBox Text="First Line" Grid.Row="0" /> <TreeView Grid.Row="1" KeyboardNavigation.TabNavigation="Continue" IsTabStop="False"> <TreeViewItem IsExpanded="True"><TreeViewItem.Header><TextBox Text="Popular Words"/></TreeViewItem.Header> <TreeViewItem><TreeViewItem.Header><TextBox Text="Foo"/></TreeViewItem.Header></TreeViewItem> <TreeViewItem><TreeViewItem.Header><TextBox Text="Bar"/></TreeViewItem.Header></TreeViewItem> <TreeViewItem><TreeViewItem.Header><TextBox Text="Hello"/></TreeViewItem.Header></TreeViewItem> </TreeViewItem> <TreeViewItem IsExpanded="True"><TreeViewItem.Header><TextBox Text="Unpopular Words"/></TreeViewItem.Header> <TreeViewItem><TreeViewItem.Header><TextBox Text="Work"/></TreeViewItem.Header></TreeViewItem> <TreeViewItem><TreeViewItem.Header><TextBox Text="Duplication"/></TreeViewItem.Header></TreeViewItem> </TreeViewItem> </TreeView> <TextBox Text="Last Line" Grid.Row="2" /> </Grid>

  • Ruby: Is there a better way to iterate over multiple (big) files?

    - by zxcvbnm
Here's what I'm doing (sorry for the variable names, I'm not using those in my code): File.open("out_file_1.txt", "w") do |out_1| File.open("out_file_2.txt", "w") do |out_2| File.open_and_process("in_file_1.txt", "r") do |in_1| File.open_and_process("in_file_2.txt", "r") do |in_2| while line_1 = in_1.gets do line_2 = in_2.gets #input files have the same number of lines #process data and output to files end end end end end The open_and_process method is just to open the file and close it once it's done. It's taken from the pickaxe book. Anyway, the main problem is that the code is nested too deeply. I can't load all the files' contents into memory, so I have to iterate line by line. Is there a better way to do this? Or at least prettify it?

  • Creating a custom ribbon button in VS 2008 Standard

    - by Kevin L.
I want to create a custom ribbon button within Outlook 2007 using Visual Studio 2008 Standard, but am unsure how to proceed. Most of the resources I've found mention VS 2008 Pro, and this SO answer mentions that VSTO is not even included in Standard. Is creating custom ribbon buttons possible using Visual Studio 2008 Standard? If so, where should I start?
