  • Embedding ASPX in ASP page

    Hi all, I have an ASPX based component which I'd need to inlude into a plain ASP based script. Scenario is, that I'm working within an LMS system (Angel to be exact) and I wan't to create a new nugget within that framework. An Angel nugget is pretty much what a portlet is in the Java world. Now, the nugget spec. states that my starting point has to be a file called default.asp. What I'd like to do is: read relevant data from ASP session pass data to ASPX component have ASPX do it's job and display the results My problem is that I fail to run / display my ASPX component without using an iframe, which I want to avoid since that crushes the layout / design of my nugget. Is there a way to get this done properly or do I have to rewrite my component in ASP to get this going? Note: the component performs web service queries and such and I'd like to avoid rewriting that. thanks for your thoughts! K

    I have a DevXpress ASPXGridview, and I am using ObjectDataSource for custom paging. This is my objectDataSource code on aspx page. <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="ObjectDataSource1" runat="server" SelectMethod="GetItems" EnablePaging="true" TypeName="BLL.Item" StartRowIndexParameterName="startIndex" MaximumRowsParameterName="pageSize" SelectCountMethod="GetTotalItems" > <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="hfNumber" Name="number" Type="string" /> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="hfDesc" Name="description" Type="string" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:ObjectDataSource> When I put breakpoints in BLL code, I see that it always executes with startIndex and pageSize as 0. It does pass the other two selectparameters correctly. Also the SelectCountMethod (GetTotalItems) never gets executed.

  • Classic ASP Session not working in IIS 7 Windows Server 2008 R2 x64

    Hi, I've been googleing and searching here info about this but so far couldn't find anything relevant to my problem. We have a website currently working on II6 and Windows Server 2003 (x86) without any problem. Now we want to migrate our server to a Virtual Machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) and IIS7. Out current app is built in Classic ASP and SQL Server (This one located on a 2nd Server but this is staying the way it is now). The website is configured as a WebSite, not a virtual directory. Using DefaultAppPool with 4 applications.   • Can not call web service with basic authentication using WCF

    I've been given a web service written in Java that I'm not able to make any changes to. It requires the user authenticate with basic authentication to access any of the methods. The suggested way to interact with this service in .NET is by using Visual Studio 2005 with WSE 3.0 installed. This is an issue, since the project is already using Visual Studio 2008 (targeting .NET 2.0). I could do it in VS2005, however I do not want to tie the project to VS2005 or do it by creating an assembly in VS2005 and including that in the VS2008 solution (which basically ties the project to 2005 anyway for any future changes to the assembly). I think that either of these options would make things complicated for new developers by forcing them to install WSE 3.0 and keep the project from being able to use 2008 and features in .NET 3.5 in the future... ie, I truly believe using WCF is the way to go. I've been looking into using WCF for this, however I'm unsure how to get the WCF service to understand that it needs to send the authentication headers along with each request. I'm getting 401 errors when I attempt to do anything with the web service. This is what my code looks like: WebHttpBinding webBinding = new WebHttpBinding(); ChannelFactory<MyService> factory = new ChannelFactory<MyService>(webBinding, new EndpointAddress( "http://127.0.0.1:80/Service/Service/")); factory.Endpoint.Behaviors.Add(new WebHttpBehavior()); factory.Credentials.UserName.UserName = "username"; factory.Credentials.UserName.Password = "password"; MyService proxy = factory.CreateChannel(); proxy.postSubmission(_postSubmission); This will run and throw the following exception: "The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Anonymous'. The authentication header received from the server was 'Basic realm=realm'." And this has an inner exception of: "The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized." Any thoughts about what might be causing this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • Web service SSL handshake fails in production environment unless SSL debugging enabled

    Scenario: calling a client web service over SSL (https) with mutual SSL authentication. Different service endpoint URLs and certs (both keystore and truststore) for test vs. production environments. Both test and production environments run tomcat / JBoss clustered. Production environment has load balancing / BigIP, runs Blade and non-Blade machines. Truststore is set (using -Djavax.net.ssl.trustStore=value) at startup. Keystore is set using System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", "value") in Java code. Web service call made using Axis2. All works fine in test environment, but when we moved to production environment (6 servers), it appears certs are not being forwarded for the handshake. Here's what we've done: in test environment, handshake using test versions of certs has been working all along, with no ssl debugging enabled confirmed in test environment that handshake with client production endpoint succeeds (production certs, both ours and theirs, are fine) -- this was done using -Djavax.net.debug=handshake,ssl confirmed that the error condition occurs on all 6 production servers took one server out of the cluster, turned on ssl debugging for just that one (with a restart), hit it directly, handshake works! switched to a different server without the debugging turned on, handshake error condition occurs turned debugging on on that second server (with a restart), hit it directly, handshake works! From the evidence, it seems like somehow the debugging being enabled causes the certificates to be properly retrieved/conveyed, although that makes no sense! I wonder whether somehow the enabled debugging makes the system pay attention to the System.setProperty call, and ignore it otherwise. However, in local and test environments, handshake worked without debugging enabled. Do I maybe need to be setting keystore on server startup like I'm setting truststore? Have been avoiding that because the keystore will differ for each of our test environments (16 of them).

It feels like something in ASP.NET is overriding my model values from updating the text boxes and they are just displaying the same old values. I found this issue while trying to learn EditorFor with an IEnumerable.

  • Workflow Service host not publishing Metadata.

    Still hacking away with extreme persistence at WF services hosted outside of IIS. I'm now having issues with my WF service publishing metadata. Can someone take a look at my code and see what step I'm missing? The few tutorials that I've stumbled across for my scenario make it look so easy, and I know it is. I'm just missing something ridiculously simple. Here's my current trial code: const string serviceUri = "http://localhost:9009/Subscribe"; WorkflowServiceHost host = new WorkflowServiceHost( new Subscribe(), new Uri(serviceUri) ); SubscriberSvcHost.AddDefaultEndpoints( ); SubscriberSvcHost.Open(); Subscribe() is an activity that is coded in an xaml file and contains simple receive and sendreply activities to test out my hosted workflow service. It is NOT a xamlx (WF service) file. Seems like this should be simple enough to work but when I start the application and the service fires I get this message in my browser when navigating to the URI: "Metadata publishing for this service is currently disabled." Shouldn't adding the default endpoints provide enough metadata and description to satisfy the service init and then go into its wait for message state?

  • How to make dynamically generated .net service client read configuration from another location than

    Hi, I've currently written code to use the ServiceContractGenerator to generate web service client code based on a wsdl, and then compile it into an assembly in memory using the code dom. I'm then using reflection to set up the binding, endpoint, service values/types, and then ultimately invoke the web service method based on xml configuration that can be altered at run time. This all currently works fine. However, the problem I'm currently running into, is that I'm hitting several exotic web services that require lots of custom binding/security settings. This is forcing me to add more and more configuration into my custom xml configurations, as well as the corresponding updates to my code to interpret and set those binding/security settings in code. Ultimately, this makes adding these 'exotic' services slower, and I can see myself eventually reimplementing the 'system.serviceModel' section of the web or app.config file, which is never a good thing. My question is, and this is where my lack of experience .net and C# shows, is there a way to define the configuration normally found in the web.config or app.config 'system.serviceModel' section somewhere else, and at run time supply this to configuration to the web service client? Is there a way to attach an app.config directly to an assembly as a resource or any other way to supply this configuration to the client? Basically, I'd like attach an app.config only containing a 'system.serviceModel' to the assembly containing a web service client so that it can use its configuration. This way I wouldn't need to handle every configuration under the sun, I could let .net do it for me. Fyi, it's not an option for me to put the configuration for every service in the app.config for the running application. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Bryan

  • IIS error hosting WCF Data Service on shared web host

    My client has a website hosted on a shared web server. I don't have access to IIS. I am trying to deploy a WCF Data Service onto his site. I am getting this error: IIS specified authentication schemes 'IntegratedWindowsAuthentication, Anonymous', but the binding only supports specification of exactly one authentication scheme. Valid authentication schemes are Digest, Negotiate, NTLM, Basic, or Anonymous. Change the IIS settings so that only a single authentication scheme is used. I have searched SO and other sites quite a bit but can't seem to find someone with my exact situation. I cannot change the IIS settings because this is a third party's server and it is a shared web server. So my only option is to change things in code or in the service config.     Greetings, I have 2 textboxs, 2 checkboxs and 2 labels. first textbox, checkbox, and label related to each other and the same for the rest. textbox should accept valid phone number based on jquery validation plugin and when the chackbox check the validation rule would change and in both option the error message would disply inside the label. A bit of explanation first (without Asp.net MVC) Is it possible to integrate the two? Is it possible to write an application that would share at least credential information with MOSS? I have to write a MOSS application that has to do with these technologies: MOSS 2010 Personal client certificates authentication (most probably on USB keys) Active Directory Federation Services Separate SQL DB that would serve application specific data (separate as not being part of MOSS DB) How should it work? Users should authenticate using personal certificates into MOSS 2010 There would be a certain part of MOSS that would be related to my custom application This application should only authorize certain users via AD FS - I guess these users should have a certain security claim attached to them This application should manage users (that have access to this app) with additional (app specific) security claims related to this application (as additional application level authorization rights for individual application parts) This application should use custom SQL 2008 DB heavily with its own data This application should have the possibility to integrate with external systems as well (Exchange for instance to inject calendar entries, ERP systems etc) This application should be able to export its data (from its DB) to files. I don't know if it's possible, but it would be nice if the app could add these files to MOSS and attach authorization info to them so only users with sufficient rights would be able to view/open these files. Why Asp.net MVC then?     Greetings, My asp.net mvc application calls WCF service. Everything is ok on my localhost (WinXP, IIS6). When I moved on production server where Win2008 Server and IIS7 are used my application gets authorization error while connecting to WCF service. ASP.NET MVC works ok but when it calls some methods on my WCF Service an error is thrown. The funny thing is that when I calls the same WCF Production service from the same ASP.NET MVC application hosted on my localhost it works ok. Can someone please help me with this. I think it's authorization problem which can be fixed on IIS7. Am I right?

    Recently we upgrade our web server to windows server 2012 with IIS8. We have this issue when users try to connect the asp.net state service to this web server remotely. It always popup Unable to make the session state request to the session state server. Please ensure that the ASP.NET State service is started and that the client and server ports are the same. If the server is on a remote machine, please ensure that it accepts remote requests by checking the value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\aspnet_state\Parameters\AllowRemoteConnection. If the server is on the local machine, and if the before mentioned registry value does not exist or is set to 0, then the state server connection string must use either 'localhost' or '127.0.0.1' as the server name. In IIS7 / 7.5 we use the same way and it works fine. As long as the state service is running and firewall is set properly, we don't have any problem. However, in IIS8 it doesn't work. (We even turn off firewall to test it) Thanks for helping.

Any cast or conversion I trry to do tells me I'm dealing with an empty or null System Object. There doesn't seem to be any sort of syntax to get/set the cookie collection. With COM+ I've seesn soem articles that indcate a switch for Access to ASP Intrinsic Objects -- that seesm to describe my issue, but I'd rather not use COM+. There are also some articles that indicate if I was using ASP.NET I could use HttpContext and HttpRequest/Response, but that's a completely different set of data objects that don't seem to be available with classic ASP. I've been stuck on this fopr a few days. Any help appreciated.

    I want to be able to use the .html extension to render ASP pages. I am using Windows CE 6 at the moment with the default web server, ASP is turned on. I have attempted to add the "ScriptMap" (via) key to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\HTTPD\ScriptMap subkey with the value ".html"="\Windows\asp.dll" but this doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

    Like happens to all of us sometimes, I inherited some crappy code I have to fix. We need to center our pages on widescreen machines, so we have a master page layout div like so: .MasterLayout { width:1100px; height: 100%; position:absolute; left:50%; margin-left:-550px; vertical-align:top; } I removed most of the detailed attributes for readability here, but here's how the table for the master page is laid out: <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width: 100%;"> <tr> <td style="width: 100%" align="center" colspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" style="height: 20px; background-color: #333;"> <asp:SiteMapPath/> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="width: 86px; height: 650px; background-color: #B5C7DE; margin: 6px;" valign="top"> <asp:Menu /> <asp:SiteMapDataSource /> </td> <td style="background-color:#ffffff; margin:5px; width:1000px;" valign="top"> <asp:contentplaceholder id="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server"/> </td> </tr> </table> When resizing the browser window, the horizontal scrollbar only reaches as far as the left edge of the <asp:contentplaceholder/> control, and the <asp:menu/> that's in the 86px wide <td> is hidden.
