Hi,
I would like to know if its possible to deploy java class files without restarting JBoss server. I am using jboss v4.2.2.
Also, when I try to deploy jsp files, it works fine and server picks up the changes almost instantly.
Thanks a lot in advance :)
I have created a Java Swing application. It works fine.
I have created application file (.app) for that application using jar bundler.
But the main problem is that my application does not open if I click it on the Dock. I am using Mac OS. How I can launch my application by clicking on Dock
Thanks

How to/What is a good library, to create a fading indicator message in Java like that of Outlook when you get a message, or Ubuntu/Gnome when you've connected to a network?
Hi,
I would like to open a webpage and run a javascript function from within a java app.
For example I would like to open the page www.mytestpage.com and run the following javascript code:document.getElementById("txtEmail").value="[email protected]";submit();void(0);
This works in a browser...how can I do it programatically?
Thanks!
Hi,
I have a lot of experience in C and Python, but I'd like to pick up some Java. I was curious if there was a "quick and dirty" guide tailored for people with previous CS background. I'd prefer free online resources but appreciate any suggestion.
Thanks,
Brian
Hi i'm working in task queue concept.... First i struggled to program using task queue and i asked many doubts in stack overflow and Google app engine java. After a search i got a sample program for task queue. http://gaejexperiments.wordpress.com/2009/11/24/episode-10-using-the-task-queue-service/ It will very useful for beginners Like me.

Hello.
I develop application with Java.
I need to store some initial configuration data in some kind of file.
I want my app to be able to read this data, but I don't want user to do so.
Example : application loads IP from encrypted file. User sees like "dsda@#21da@" so he won't bother doing anything :)
How should I do such a thing?
Thanx!
Hi there,
is it possible to access a shadowed field of an enclosing class from the enclosed one in Java?
public class Inherit {
public int a = 3;
private int b = 5;
public class Inheriting {
public int a = 23;
private int d = 8;
public void f() {
System.out.println("Here I want to get a = 3");
...
}
}
}
Cheers!
I've looked around for a good example of this, but I haven't run into one yet. I want to pass a custom string array from java to oracle and back, using the IBATIS framework. Does anyone have a good link to an example? I'm calling stored procs from IBATIS.
Thanks
I've found that java.lang.Ingteger implementation of compareTo method looks as follows:
public int compareTo(Integer anotherInteger) {
int thisVal = this.value;
int anotherVal = anotherInteger.value;
return (thisVal<anotherVal ? -1 : (thisVal==anotherVal ? 0 : 1));
}
The question is why use comparison instead of subtraction:
return thisVal - anotherVal;

Hi,
I am developing an application in Netbeans, and it is using JavaDB. I can connect to it and execute queries without issues, but for some reason, the "Output - JavaDB Database Process" pane within Netbeans keeps displaying
Security manager installed using the Basic server security policy.
Could not listen on port 1527 on host localhost:
java.net.BindException: Address already in use
How do I find out what process is already using, or bound to, that port number?
This is simply for fun. This will not be used for any actual encryption. I'm only first year comp sci student and love cryptography.
This took a long time to get working. At approximately N = 18, it begins breaking down. It won't encrypt messages properly after that point. I'm not sure why. Any insights? I'd also appreciate any links you could provide me to tutorials or interesting reading about Cryptography.

I want to show a box in 3d on my website, and I was thinking to do it in Flash. How I can show a 3d model?
I need something very simple, it's a textured cube, no interaction required, just let the user pan and zoom.
There is a 3ds viewer in flash or something like that?
Java is also ok (but flash is preferred)
More of a wiki list/collection, I'm looking for a list of good Java desktop apps. I've added a couple below to get started. Please list the framework/widget toolkit being used if it's know as well.
In my understanding a singleton object will destroy only when the application is about to terminate. So in C++ I write a Singleton class to log my application and in that Singleton logger's destructor I log the time when my application was terminated. Things worked perfectly in C++.
Now I want to have that same logger in Java, as in java there is no destructor so I implemented the finalize method for that singleton logger. But it seem that finalize method actually never get called.
So, I add that System.runFinalizersOnExit(true); line, somewhere in my code (though I know it is deprecated) and that finalize method get called every time before termination of the app. But still there is a problem! If I try to write anything on file in that finalize method, It does not work, though System.out work without any problem! :(
Can you guys help me on this problem? Here is a sample code of what I am try to do:
Singleton Logger Class:
public class MyLogger {
FileWriter writer;
private MyLogger() {
try {
this.writer = new FileWriter("log.txt");
}
catch (IOException ex) {
}
}
public static MyLogger getInstance() {
return MyLoggerHolder.INSTANCE;
}
private static class MyLoggerHolder {
private static final MyLogger INSTANCE = new MyLogger();
}
@Override
protected void finalize () {
try {
super.finalize();
System.out.println("Here"); //worked correctly.
this.writer.write(new Date().toString()+System.getProperty("line.separator"));
this.writer.write("End");
this.writer.flush(); //does not work!
this.writer.close();
}
catch (Throwable ex) {
}
}
public synchronized void log(String str) {
try {
this.writer.write(new Date().toString()+System.getProperty("line.separator"));
this.writer.write(str+"\n");
this.writer.flush();
}
catch (IOException ex) {
}
}
}
Main:
public class Main {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.runFinalizersOnExit(true);
MyLogger logger = MyLogger.getInstance();
logger.log("test");
}
}
Please advise me the difference between two ways of declaration of java constructor
public class A{
private static A instance = new A();
public static A getInstance() { return instance;
}
public static void main(String[] args) {
A a= A.getInstance();
}
}
AND
public class B{
public B(){};
public static void main(String[] args) {
B b= new B();
}
}
Thanks
I'm writing an application which monitors the person’s mouse and keyboard. If they have not used the keyboard or mouse for 1 minute, it should pops up a message which says “You have not used the mouse or keyboard for 1 minute” and an OK button.
How do I do this in Java?
Hello,
In which case should you use primitive types(int) or complex types(Integer)?
Ex:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2508918/why-java-compiler-does-not-like-integer-as-type-for-values-in-hashmap this example works with Integer type. Should we always use Integer as a complex type?
I have Java Applet(J2EE), I want to make it accessible only to a certain set of users,by authenticating them using username and password.What is the the best way of doing this?
What JAVA library should I be using to Hash passwords for storage in a database?
I was hoping to just take the plain text password, add a random salt, then store the salt and the hashed password in the database.
Then when a user wanted to log in, I could just take their submitted password, add the random salt from their account information, hash it and see if it equates to the stored hash password with their account information.
