  • iPhone paging UI

    - by Comma
I have an app that displays a large amount of information. For paging I'd like to use the "Home Screen" style scrolling/paging instead of the one used in pdf documents (smooth scrolling). How what should I use? also can that UI support more than 20 pages? or is there a better solution?

  • Portrait vs Landscape Launch Images

    - by andrewx
An iPad app can support inclusion of launch images in both orientations; presumably, if your app supports auto-rotation, then this would suggest to me that if the user launches an app while the device is in Landscape mode, then the Landscape launch image is used. But in all the apps I've built and released, this has never been the case. Never once has the Landscape launch image appeared, only the Portrait. After loading, the app will auto-rotate to whatever orientation the device is in, but at launch, it assumes you are in Portrait. Always. Why? I have seen many other apps in the store that behave this way, but then there are some seem to always automatically know immediately at first launch, from that first launch image, that you are in Landscape, if that's the case. How is this done?

  • CALayer Position Contents to Bottom Left

    - by Louis
I am attempting to draw an image onto a CALayer. I only need an image, so I have created my later as follows: CALayer *layer = [CALayer layer]; I add my image as follows: NSImage *img = [[NSImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:@"path/to/img.png"]; [layer setContents:img]; This works, however it draws my images to fill the entire parent frame (stretching my image in the process). Reading the docs, I found the following: [layer setContentsGravity:@"kCAGravityBottomLeft"]; I am attempting to draw my image in the bottom left of the parent frame, however no matter what I do it draws my icon in the bottom center. Is there anyway to specify the bottom left?

  • Iphone SDK- How to insert a banner in my app

    - by Dave
I have a tableview that my app shows when it loads, I would like to somehow put a banner at the bottom that if connceted to the internet will check my server for any new image files and if there are it will replace the current one and if not it will just leave it. That way I can constantly display messages to my users - sort of like in Doodle Jump. How could I achieve this? Thanks

  • AppDelegate, RootViewController, and UIApplication

    - by guy8214
Hi Guys I am trying to figure out the relationship between the appdelegate, RootViewControoler, and UIApplication. Here is what I kinda have figured out so far: When starting your application up, main.m gets loaded. From here, your MainWindow.xib gets loaded. In your MainWindow.xib, your File's Owner is of type UIApplication. You set your UIApplication's delegate to your AppDelegate. In your AppDelegate's source code, you can set your RootViewController to be the first view shown. Is this right? What prompts AppDelegate to initially run it's - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { } method?

  • Rendering CALayer in context uses large amounts of memory

    - by Otium
    I am taking a snapshot of a UIWebView layer, but when I render the webview's layer in the current context my app uses 10mb more memory, and I don't think that should be right. Here is my current code: CGSize imageSize = self.bounds.size; UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions(imageSize, YES, 0); CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); [self.layer renderInContext:context]; _snapshot = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext();

  • Highlight table view cells when user drags across rows

    - by chronos
I have a grouped table view that does not need to scroll. I'd like each cell to highlight as the user moves their finger down the screen and call didSelectRowAtIndexPath on release. This behaviour can be seen done by apple in 'settings mail add account'? I can't seem to replicate it myself, all I can get is the default, where the cell deselects as soon as the user moves their finger.

  • Incorrect rotation of a view controller in iOS 6

    - by XenElement
In my app I've been using the now deprecated shouldAutoRotateToFace method. Now when using the iOS 6 simulator, all of my subviews are rotated to portrait orientation while the device is in landscape. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? I've already tried replacing should autorotate in my main view controller with the supportedOrientations method (or whatever it is that you're now supposed to use instead).

I'm just not sure how to encode the screen contents/animation to video? The problem with using something like ffmpeg is that its LGPL which can lead to licensing issues, is there a better option?

  • Can we use (id) in if- else condition ?

    - by srikanth rongali
I have written my code in following way in cocos2d. id actionTo = [CCFadeOut actionWithDuration:4.0f]; id actionTo0 = [CCSequence actionWithDuration:2.0f]; if (m < enemyNumber) id actionTo1 = [CCCallFunc actionWithTarget:self selector:@selector(goToNextScene)]; else id actionTo1 = [CCCallFunc actionWithTarget:self selector:@selector(goToEndScene)]; id actionSeq = [CCSequence actions:actionTo, actionTo0, actionTo1, nil]; [targetE runAction: [CCSequence actions:actionSeq, nil]]; error: expected expression before 'id' I am getting the above error. Should not we use (id) in if condition ? I want to get called two selectors by using the if- else condition. How can I make it ? Thank You.

  • Starting a SKProductsRequest gives -[_NSCFArray length] invalid selector error a moment later. LoadMicroPaymentsProductsOperation error.

    - by quantumpotato
    I'm fetching a list of identifiers from my server, then passing them off in a products request to Apple. Here's my code, and below is the error I'm getting. The iPhone 4 is not crashing when this happens. -(void)didReceiveData:(NSArray *)data { NSLog(@"Received Identifiers: %@",data); NSSet *productIdentifiers = [NSSet setWithArray:data]; SKProductsRequest *productsRequest = [[SKProductsRequest alloc] initWithProductIdentifiers:productIdentifiers]; productsRequest.delegate = self; [productsRequest start]; NSLog(@"productsRequest should have started by now"); } Wed Dec 29 09:42:14 iPhone XXXX-iphone[6363] <Warning>: Received Identifiers: ( ( 1, 10, "com.XXXX.XXXX.10" ) ) Wed Dec 29 09:42:14 iPhone XXXX-iphone[6363] <Warning>: productsRequest should have started by now Wed Dec 29 09:42:18 iPhone itunesstored[6367] : -[__NSCFArray length]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x119070 Wed Dec 29 09:42:18 iPhone itunesstored[6367] : caught -[__NSCFArray length]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x119070 exception with stack trace: (0x33ac0975 0x3347b49d 0x33ac2133 0x33a69aa9 0x33a69860 0x2717b 0x27515 0x31469651 0x314693ed 0x31469e39 0x3362795f 0x336276c3 0x3363c4eb 0x33c32680 0x33c32ba0 0x33bd7251 0x33bcf978)

  • TableView Background image going over cell textLabel

    - by Alex Trott
Currently my tableview looks like this: as you can see, cell.textLabel and cell.detailTextLable both load this background, and i can't work out how to get them to stop loading the background, and for it only to be the backing on the cell. Here's my current code to change the cell: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView willDisplayCell:(UITableViewCell *)cell forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { [cell setBackgroundColor:[UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"tableCell.png"]]]; } How can i get round this problem? Thanks in advance.

  • Unsure how i load the right data into a tableview, chosen from a previous tableview.

    - by Bob
I currently have two TableViewControllers. The first has seven objects, each day-name listed. Weekdays *mandag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Mandag" daylist:mondayArray]; Weekdays *tirsdag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Tirsdag" daylist:tuesdayArray]; Weekdays *onsdag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Onsdag" daylist:wedensdayArray]; Weekdays *torsdag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Torsdag" daylist:thursdayArray]; Weekdays *fredag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Fredag" daylist:fridayArray]; Weekdays *lordag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Lørdag" daylist:saturdayArray]; Weekdays *sondag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Søndag" daylist:sundayArray]; daylist being a NSMutableArray. The idea is: The name of the day is displayed on table-1. And the array (daylist) of each day is displayed on table-2 - when tabbed one a day. The first table, displaying the names is working fine: VisueltSkemaAppDelegate *appDelegate = (VisueltSkemaAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Weekdays *ugeDag = (Weekdays *)[appDelegate.ugeDage objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = ugeDag.name; return cell; However i thought i could do the same, for the second table - but i have been strugling with it for hours now. This is what i got: VisueltSkemaAppDelegate *appDelegate = (VisueltSkemaAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Weekdays *ugeDag = (Weekdays *)[appDelegate.ugeDage objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [ugeDag.daylist objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; return cell; Abit more of the code: http://pastebin.com/iW5AAJXt

  • Arrays and application data

    - by s0mmer
Hello everyone, At the moment i'm making an application where it is possible to make profiles with different settings. Which datatypes would you recommend me saving these information in? I have a table which is showing the profile name and the version number. But for each profile there need to be stored more information. Therefore the idea i'm working on have 2 arrays. 1 for all the profile information and 1 who is being made when loading the information. The second array is the one going to be showed in the table. Because the table doesnt show all the stored information. .. but this seems kinda stupid. Is there a more suitable method for saving the information in like 1 array, and just pass part of the data to the tableview?
