  • ASP.Net WebSite Membership AND C# Windows Form Membership

    This is not real, it's just a project i'm working on I've created a Hotel Management system in C# WindowsForm, it allows staff members to Add/Edit/Update Rooms,Reservation and Customers etc. Along side this Windows-form i'm creating an ASP.net WebSite where customers should be able to register and reserve rooms online. I've come to the point where i need to create some-type of membership method for this website which should correspond to the membership of the windows form. However i'm not sure what method of membership would be best suited for this, i have looked into the asp.net membership, it's what i want however it creates it's own schema and i don't know how i can relate the information to my customers table and c#windows form. I would ideally like it to resemble a real-life situation as much as possible anyway, am i going about this the wrong way? in terms of the c# windows-form what other technology would a business use to manage a system like this where they can add/edit/update there system and have a website which relates. What are my options here?

    I was given the following pseudo code in order to get the form that has focus and only allow the form I want to be submitted: <script> var currentForm = document.forms[0];</script> <form ...><input onfocus="currentForm = this.form;"/></form> <form ...><input onfocus="currentForm = this.form;"/></form> function globalKeyPressed(event) { if (event.keyCode == ENTER) { // This is pseudo-code, check how to really do it currentForm.submit(); } } How would I do this for VB.net because VB.net doesn't accept System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs. I also wanted to add that I can't have multiple forms on my website as it disrupts the loginview. So my 2 seperate 'forms' are really just a loginview and then an asp:textbox and asp:button by themselves without a form.

  • What is the .NET attribuet to not compile a method is release mode

    I know that if I have a block of code I don't want compiled when in release mode I can wrap that code block in: #if DEBUG while(true) { Console.WriteLine("StackOverflow rules"); } #endif This will keep this code block from compiling in any mode other than DEBUG. I know there is an attribute that can be placed on an entire method that will do that same, but for the life of me I can't remember what that attribute is. I believe that it’s down the System.Diagnostics namespace, but I'm not really sure. BTW: I'm using .NET 4, but I know this attribute existed in .NET 2 because I have used in in old projects. Thanks

    I know I'll get into all kinds of trouble for bringing this up on SO, but considering that nearly all of us programmers depend on the Internet to get our jobs done, I really think it's worth looking into today's failure of our right to use the Internet by way of Lobbying ISPs. Although something tells me there will be retribution for the actions of the ISPs/tel cos/cable and their lobbyist since, lets face it...ISPs/Telcos didn't invent the Internet. I'm not going to be the one to do it, but um I think somebody already has...as everybody I talked to was having Internet connection problems today at work. Just thought this might be relevant to all of our jobs...in the U.S.A. at least. If you work at an Big evil ISPs, by all means...try and close this question.     Hello everybody, I am on a project where I have multiple users of a portal and they are connected to other users of the portal, now we are asked to draw a "Social Network" relationship graph to see the relationships.     hello, i created a project to search textfiles with lucene.net. [asp.net/vs08] these textfiles are in a VSS server. i'm looking for a way how to "check out" or "copy" a Document (later on the whole vss structure with documents) and put it on in a folder on an IIS Server. how can i do that? -- copy a document from vss TO Folder on IIS Server [ Later all documents in the original strucutre] bye the way, its important that the documents keep their original creationdate. thanks in advance

    So here's the deal I'm working on a project that I had originally focused on Zend Framework, But now I want to get into ASP.NET MVC and boy lets just say it's good and a great start though i'm still at the beginning stage of it. But I am having issues with passing Data From My Controller to the Master / Layout Page. Now in Zend I am able to determine which controller and which action I am in through a helper I created. Now I want to implement the same functionality in this ASP.NET MVC application. So my Master Layout Page knows which Controller I am in and hence highilighting the navigation for it. I am using a straight custom html li a structure navigation. Any help on this specific topic would be greatly appreciated.

  • Continuous Deployment with an ASP.NET website?

    I have a website in C#/ASP.NET that is currently in development. When we are in production, I would like to do releases frequently over the course of the day, as we fix bugs and add features (like this: http://toni.org/2010/05/19/in-praise-of-continuous-deployment-the-wordpress-com-story/). If you upload a new version of the site or even change a single file, it kicks out the users that are currently logged in and makes them start over any forms and such. Is there a secret to being able to do deployments without interfering with users for .NET sites?

I have a domain model in a class library, my repositories in another class library, and an asp.net mvc 2 application.   • Debugging ASP.NET with IIS

    I've set up debugging in Visual Studio 2008 to IIS instead of the built in server so I can run url rewriting while developing (using IIRF). It took a while to get to work (changing permissions, reinstalling the .NET framework) but it was working. I turned off my machine, and now that it's back on the debugger won't start. I'm using Parallels with WinXP on an iMac. "Unable to start debugging on the web server. Could not start ASP.NET debugging. More information may be available by starting the project without debugging" I read a whole bunch of posts on SO as well as googled the subject but none seem to provide a working answer. Has anyone encountered this and knows how to get it to work? Thanks.

    A 3rd party site sends its notifications after my web application has completed some action in order to notify me of its succes. Receiving a notification item requires a response back to the 3rd party server (URL) with the a containing the value "accepted". I have never user SOAP and with the basic info found I'm a bit lost for the case of asp.net mvc. Are there any good links showing the principle of receiving and sending SOAP responses? Tutorials / information may be presented in other languages such as java, asp.net (classic) or something. I need to get a general idea since googling on SOAP is not giving me anything for the past few hours. thanks in advance.

I need make a join between tables. from a in A join b in B on a.? equal b.? where condition select new { Name = a.Name, Domain = b.Domain }; I cant do that follow the reference in entity bu when the problem grows can be a problem.     I have a Windows server that is intermittently losing the ability to lookup DNS information. I'm trying to get to the root cause of the problem but in the mean time I'd like to be able to monitor whether the server can perform lookups. Basically, it should attempt to lookup some common hostnames and the display 'Success' if the lookups are successful. I see lots of examples of doing this with third party components in ASP.NET but I would prefer to be able to do this with a single ASP.Net script that would be portable and not require anything additional be installed.

  • DLL configuration file in asp.net site

    Hi, I've made a .net 2.0 librabry project, that results in a dll. I've made an app.config file in my project, with settings used in the dll, with the intention that they can be changed later. I'm attempting to use the dll in an asp.net web application now, so I made the reference to my other project's output, and I see that the dll is copied over to the site's bin folder, and everything works. However, the configuration file is not copied. When I manually copy the app.config and rename it to myDll.config, it has no influence.
