  • Merge replication server side foreign key violation from unpublished table

    - by Reiste
We are using SQL Server 2005 Merge Replication with SQL CE 3.5 clients. We are using partitions with filtering for the separate subscriptions, and nHibernate for the ORM mapping. There is automatic ID range management from SQL Server for the subscriptions. We have a table, Item, and a table with a foreign key to Item - ItemHistory. Both of these are replicated down, filtered according to the subscription. Item has a column called UserId, and is filtered per subscription with this filter: WHERE UserId IN (SELECT... [complicated subselect]...) ItemHistory hangs off Item in the publication filter articles. On the server, we have a table ItemHistoryExport, which has a foreign key to ItemHistory. ItemHistoryExport is not published. Entries in the Item and ItemHistory tables are never deleted, on the server or the client. However, the "ownership" of items (and hence their ItemHistories) MAY change, which causes them to be moved from one client subscription/partition to another from time to time. When we sync, we occasionally get the following error: A row delete at '48269404 - 4108383dbb11' could not be propagated to 'MyServer\MyInstance.MyDatabase'. This failure can be caused by a constraint violation. The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "FK_ItemHistoryExport_ItemHistory". The conflict occurred in database "MyDatabase", table "dbo.ItemHistoryExport", column 'ItemHistoryId'. Can anyone help us understand why this happens? There shouldn't ever be a delete happening on the server side.

  • window.onload seems to trigger before the DOM is loaded (JavaScript)

    - by Dr. Monkey
I am having trouble with the window.onload and document.onload events. Everything I read tells me these will not trigger until the DOM is fully loaded with all its resources, it seems like this isn't happening for me: I tried the following simple page in Chrome 4.1.249.1036 (41514) and IE 8.0.7600.16385 with the same result: both displayed the message "It failed!", indicating that myParagraph is not loaded (and so the DOM seems incomplete). <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = doThis(); // document.onload gives the same result function doThis() { if (document.getElementById("myParagraph")) { alert("It worked!"); } else { alert("It failed!"); } } </script> </head> <body> <p id="myParagraph">Nothing is here.</p> </body> </html> I am using more complex scripts than this, in an external .js file, but this illustrates the problem. I can get it working by having window.onload set a timer for half a second to run doThis(), but this seems like an inelegant solution, and doesn't answer the question of why window.onload doesn't seem to do what everyone says it does. Another solution would be to set a timer that will check if the DOM is loaded, and if not it will just call itself half a second later (so it will keep checking until the DOM is loaded), but this seems overly complex to me. Is there a more appropriate event to use?

  • (jQuery) javascript setTimeout clearTimeout

    - by Tillebeck
Hi I try to make a page to go to the startpage after eg. 10sec of inactivity (user not clicking anywhere). I use jQuery for the rest but the set/clear in my test function are pure javascript. In my frustation I ended up with something like this function that I hoped I could call on any click on the page. The timer starts fine, but is not reset on a click. If the function is called 5 times within the first 10 seconds, then 5 alerts will apear... no clearTimeout... function endAndStartTimer() { window.clearTimeout(timer); var timer; //var millisecBeforeRedirect = 10000; timer = window.setTimeout(function(){alert('Hello!');},10000); } Any one got some lines of code that will do the trick? - on any click stop, reset and start the timer. - When timer hits eg. 10sec do something. • Parsing Line Breaks in PHP/JavaScript

    - by Matt G
I have a text area in my PHP application where users can enter notes in a project. Sometimes this is displayed on the page via PHP and sometimes it is displayed via javascript. The problem is, if the note is across multiple lines (i.e. the user presses enter while entering notes in the text area), it causes the JS to fail. It's fine when it's being done by the PHP. The line of code in question is: var editnotes='<textarea class="desc_text" style="width:20em;" id="notes_editor"><?php print $notes; ?></textarea>'; So, if the note is over multiple lines, the PHP builds the pager as: var editnotes='<textarea class="desc_text" style="width:20em;" id="notes_editor">This is a test note over multiple lines </textarea>'; And this obviously causes problems for the js. So my question is, what can I do to prevent this? As the code is being built by PHP before it even gets to the browser, I'm thinking that the best approach may be to parse it in the PHP so that the output is something more like this: var editnotes='<textarea class="desc_text" style="width:20em;" id="notes_editor">This is<br/>a test note<br/>over multiple lines<br/></textarea>'; Will this work? How would I do it? Thanks

  • javascript RegEx hashtag matching #foo and #foo-fåäö but not http://this.is/no#hashtag

    - by Simon B.
Currently we're using javascript new RegExp('#[^,#=!\s][^,#=!\s]*') (see [1]) and it mostly works, except that it also matches URLs with anchors like http://this.is/no#hashtag and also we'd rather avoid matching foo#bar Some attempts have been made with look-ahead but it doesn't seem to work, or that I just don't get it. With the below source text: #public #writable #kommentarer-till-beta -- all these should be matched Verkligen #bra jobbat! T ex #kommentarer till #artiklar och #blogginlägg, kool. -- mixed within text http://this.is/no#hashtag -- problem xxy#bar -- We'd prefer not matching this one, and... #foo=bar =foo#bar -- we probably shouldn't match any of those either. #foo, bar #foo;bar #foo-bar #foo:bar -- We're flexible on whether these get matched in part or in full . We'd like to get below output: (showing $ instead of <a class=tag href=.....>...</a> for readability reasons) $ $ $ -- all these should be matched Verkligen $ jobbat! T ex $ till $ och $, kool. -- mixed within text http://this.is/no$ -- problem xxy$ -- We'd prefer not matching this one, and... $=bar =foo$ -- we probably shouldn't match any of those either. $,bar $ $ $ -- We're flexible on whether these get matched in part or in full [1] http://github.com/ether/pad/blob/master/etherpad/src/plugins/twitterStyleTags/hooks.js

  • JavaScript and JQuery - Encoding HTML

    - by user70192
Hello, I have a web page that has a textarea defined on it like so: <textarea id="myTextArea" rows="6" cols="75"></textarea> There is a chance that a user may enter single and double quotes in this field. For instance, I have been testing with the following string: Just testin' using single and double "quotes". I'm hoping the end of this task is comin'. Additionally, the user may enter HTML code, which I would prefer to prevent. Regardless, I am passing the contents of this textarea onto web service. I must encode the contents of the textarea in JavaScript before I can send it on. Currently, I'm trying the following: var contents $('<div/>').text($("#myTextArea).val()).html(); alert(contents); I was expecting contents to display Just testin&#39; using single and double &#34;quotes&#34;. I&#39;m hoping the end of this task is comin&#39;. Instead, the original string is printed out. Beyond just double-and-single quotes, there are a variety of entities to consider. Because of this, I was assuming there would be a way to encode HTML before passing it on. Can someone please tell me how to do this? Thank you,

  • Exclude debug javascript code during minification

    - by Tauren
I looking into different ways to minify my javascript code including the regular JSMin, Packer, and YUI solutions. I'm really interested in the new Google Closure Compiler, as it looks exceptionally powerful. I noticed that Dean Edwards packer has a feature to exclude lines of code that start with three semicolons. This is handy to exclude debug code. For instance: ;;; console.log("Starting process"); I'm spending some time cleaning up my codebase and would like to add hints like this to easily exclude debug code. In preparation for this, I'd like to figure out if this is the best solution, or if there are other techniques. Because I haven't chosen how to minify yet, I'd like to clean the code in a way that is compatible with whatever minifier I end up going with. So my questions are these: Is using the semicolons a standard technique, or are there other ways to do it? Is Packer the only solution that provides this feature? Can the other solutions be adapted to work this way as well, or do they have alternative ways of accomplishing this? I will probably start using Closure Compiler eventually. Is there anything I should do now that would prepare for it?

  • jQuery / javascript and nested if statements

    - by rayne
I have a multi-lingual page where I want to display form validation error in the user's language. I use a hidden input to determine which language version the user is browsing like this: <input type="hidden" name="lang" id="lang" value="<?php echo $lang; ?>" /> The PHP side of the script works, but jQuery doesn't seem to realize which language is passed on. It displays the English error message no matter on which language site I am. Here's the code (I removed the other form fields for length): $(document).ready(function(){ $('#contact').submit(function() { $(".form_message").hide(); var emailReg = /^([\w-\.]+@([\w-]+\.)+[\w-]{2,4})?$/; var lang = $("#lang").val(); var name = $("#name").val(); var dataString = { 'lang': lang, 'name': name } if (name == '') { if (lang == 'de') { $("#posted").after('<div class="form_message"><p><span class="error">Fehler:</span> Bitte gib deinen Namen an!</p></div>'); } else { $("#posted").after('<div class="form_message"><p><span class="error">Error:</span> Please enter your name!</p></div>'); } $("#name").focus(); $("#name").addClass('req'); } else { $("#loading").show(); $("#loading").fadeIn(400).html('<img src="/img/loading.gif" />Loading...'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/contact-post.php", data: dataString, cache: false, success: function(html){ $("#loading").hide(); $("#posted").after('<div class="form_message"><p>Thank you! Your contact request has been sent.</p></div>'); $("#contact input:submit").attr("disabled", "disabled").val("Success!"); } }); }return false; }); }); The problem seems to be somewhere in the nested if statement. Does jQuery / javascript even recognize nested ifs? And if yes, why is it not working?

  • Concatenate javascript to a string/parameter in a function

    - by Gerry S
I am using kottke.org's old JAH example to return some html to a div in a webpage. The code works fine if I use static text. However I need to get the value of a field to add to the string that is getting passed as the parameter to the function. var xmlhttp=false; /*@cc_on @*/ /*@if (@_jscript_version >= 5) try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch (E) { xmlhttp = false; } } @end @*/ if (!xmlhttp && typeof XMLHttpRequest != 'undefined') { xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } function getMyHTML(serverPage, objID) { var obj = document.getElementById(objID); xmlhttp.open("GET", serverPage); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange = function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState == 4 && xmlhttp.status == 200) { obj.innerHTML = xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.send(null); } And on the page.... <a href="javascript://" onclick="getMyHTML('/WStepsDE?open&category="+document.getElementById('Employee').value;+"','goeshere')">Change it!</a></p> <div id ="goeshere">Hey, this text will be replaced.</div> It fails (with the help of Firebug) with the getMyHTML call where I try to get the value of Employee to include in the first parameter. The error is "Unterminated string literal". Thx in advance for your help.

  • Issue Calculating from Rows and Columns(Summing two columns with the third of a different row)

  • Javascript break breaks Firefox

    - by Maxime
    Hi, I'm working on this Javascript script that works nice in Safari and Chome but for some reason it doesn't work at all in Firefox. I identified the line that caused this: it's "break;". How do I fix this? playListConfig( index ); $("#jquery_jplayer").jPlayer("play"); song_num = myPlayList[index].song_id; if(!o[song_num]) { o[song_num] = 1;} $.get("http://www.ratemysong.net/includes/getnote.php?song_id="+song_num+"&s"+Math.random(), function(data){ if(data == "") { $('#rating ul li a').each(function() { $(this).attr('href', '#'); $(this).css("color","#FFF"); }); $('#rating ul li a').click(function(e) { ++o[song_num]; if(o[song_num]==2) { $(this).css({color:'#59B'}); var url = "http://www.ratemysong.net/boxes/voted.php?note="; url = url + $(this).attr('id'); $.get(url, function(data){ $('#basic-modal-content').html(data); $("#basic-modal-content").modal(); }); rating[song_num] = $(this).attr('id'); } else { $("#already_voted").modal(); } break; }); } else { $('#rating ul li a').each(function() { $(this).removeAttr('href'); $(this).css("color","#000"); var id_value = $(this).attr("id"); $(this).css("color","#FFF"); if(id_value == data) { $(this).css("color","#59B"); } }); } }); }

  • Javascript won't execute in iPhone Safari

    - by Stuart Meyer
I'm running into this issue only because I recently purchased an iPhone. The javascript for a picture carousel on my website (http://www.stuartmeyerphotography.com) won't execute in Safari for iPhone. I thought it worked on Mac Safari last I checked with a friend who had a Mac (a year ago), but now I need to go back and check that too to make sure it works on the Mac. "View source" on my website would show the entire html page, but I've pulled the code from the body section to show here: carousel({id:'Photos', border:'', size_mode:'image', width:120, height:120, sides:8, steps:75, speed:4, direction:'left', images:['mainthumbs/babiesthumb.jpg','mainthumbs/engagementsthumb.jpg','mainthumbs/dancethumb1.jpg','mainthumbs/artistthumb.jpg','mainthumbs/portraitsthumb1.jpg','mainthumbs/seniorsthumb1.jpg','mainthumbs/wedthumb1.jpg'], links:['babies/babies.html','engagements/engagemainshow/engagementpictures.html','dance/dancepictures.html','artists/artists.html','portraits/portraits.html','seniors/highschoolseniors.html','weddings/weddings.html'], lnk_base:'', lnk_targets:['_iframe1', '_iframe1', '_iframe1', '_iframe1', '_iframe1', '_iframe1', '_iframe1' ], lnk_attr:['width=200,height=300,top=200,menubar=yes', 'width=300,height=200,left=400,scrollbars=yes', 'width=150,height=250,left=200,top=100', ''], titles:['Babies', 'Engagements', 'Dance', 'Artists', 'Portraits', 'HS Seniors', 'Weddings'], image_border_width:1, image_border_color:'#E3F0A1' });   </div> Any thoughts? -Stuart

  • Javascript/PHP and timezones

    - by James
Hi, I'd like to be able to guess the user's timezone offset and whether or not daylight savings is being applied. Currently, the most definitive code that I've found for this is here: http://www.michaelapproved.com/articles/daylight-saving-time-dst-detect/ So this gives me the offset along with the DST indicator. Now, I want to use these in my PHP scripts in order to ouput the local date/time for the user....but what's best for this? I figure I have 2 options: a) Pick a random timezone which has the same offset and DST setting from the output of timezone_abbreviations_list(). Then call date_timezone_set() with this in order to apply the correct treatment to the time. b) Continue treating the date as UTC but just do some timestamp addition to add the appropriate number of hours on. My feeling is that option B is the best way. The reason for this is that with A, I could be using a timezone which although correct in terms of offset/dst, may have some obscur rules in place behind the scene that could give surprising results (I don't know of any but nonetheless I don't think I can rule it out). I'd then re-check the timezone using Javascript at the start of each session in order to capture when either the user's timezone changes (very unlikely) or they pass in to the DST period. Sorry for the brain dump - I'm really just after some sort of reassurance that the approaches above are valid. Thanks, James.

  • What objects would get defined in a Bridge scoring app (Javascript)

    - by Alex Mcp
I'm writing a Bridge (card game) scoring application as practice in javascript, and am looking for suggestions on how to set up my objects. I'm pretty new to OO in general, and would love a survey of how and why people would structure a program to do this (the "survey" begets the CW mark. Additionally, I'll happily close this if it's out of range of typical SO discussion). The platform is going to be a web-app for webkit on the iPhone, so local storage is an option. My basic structure is like this: var Team = { player1: , player2: , vulnerable: , //this is a flag for whether or //not you've lost a game yet, affects scoring scoreAboveLine: , scoreBelowLine: gamesWon: }; var Game = { init: ,//function to get old scores and teams from DB currentBid: , score: , //function to accept whether bid was made and apply to Teams{} save: //auto-run that is called after each game to commit to DB }; So basically I'll instantiate two teams, and then run loops of game.currentBid() and game.score. Functionally the scoring is working fine, but I'm wondering if this is how someone else would choose to break down the scoring of Bridge, and if there are any oversights I've made with regards to OO-ness and how I've abstracted the game. Thanks!

  • playing a flash movie using javascript in Internet Explorer 8

    Hi guys, I´m having a problem trying to play a flashMovie(swf file)... Here is my code: <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" .....> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" /> <param name="movie" value="nyauto_pageflip4.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="play" value="true"/> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <embed swLiveConnect="true" src="file.swf" quality="high" name="flash_flip" id="flash_flip" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /> Then, I have a javascript function with the play line: $('flash_flip').Play(); I have jQuery, but I already tryed with document.GetElementById =) So, when this line executes, the flash movie plays. This works in FF and Chrome, but not in ie8... Is there any way to fix that? Thanks!

  • How to access CSS generated content with JavaScript

    - by Boldewyn
I generate the numbering of my headers and figures with CSS's counter and content properties: img.figure:after { counter-increment: figure; content: "Fig. " counter(section) "." counter(figure); } This (appropriate browser assumed) gives a nice labelling "Fig. 1.1", "Fig. 1.2" and so on following any image. Question: How can I access this from Javascript? The question is twofold in that I'd like to access either the current value of a certain counter (at a certain DOM node) or the value of the CSS generated content (at a certain DOM node) or, obviously, both information. Background: I'd like to append to links back-referencing to figures the appropriate number, like this: <a href="#fig1">see here</h> ------------------------^ " (Fig 1.1)" inserted via JS As far as I can see, it boils down to this problem: I could access content or counter via getComputedStyle: var fig_content = window.getComputedStyle( document.getElementById('fig-a'), ':after').content; However, this is not the live value, but the one declared in the stylesheet. I cannot find any interface to access the real live value.
