  • jQuery Block UI: node is undefined

    I'm close to finishing an app that uses quite a bit of JS. Recently Firebug started throwing an error that says "node is undefined", referring to data.parent = node.parentNode; on line 209 of jQuery blockUI plugin Version 2.31 (06-JAN-2010) @requires jQuery v1.2.3 or later. I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 When I remove the code from my page that triggers the Block UI action, the error is still there. So it does not seem to be an issue in my code but an "error" in the file itself, or perhaps some kind of conflict with another file? For info my code is below. My IDE is highlighting some syntax errors in here but it does that even when there are none.   • How to correctly calculate FPS in XNA?

    I wrote a component to display current FPS. By strange things I mean that sometimes FPS drasticly decreases, this is obvious, but displayed FPS changes more often than once a second. If I understand this code FPS can't change more often than once a second. Can someone explain me what's going on?

    I'm looking for a fast, embeddable key/value store with cursor semantics over key collections (or a simple embeddable DB) that I can use in .NET and mono. Need it to be open-source, would prefer an MIT or Apache style license over a GPL license. Not opposed to a library that needs bindings to be written, as long as binaries are available for both windows and linux. Options considered: SQLite - has bindings and native implementation, but single-threaded and not all that fast Embedded InnoDB - no .NET bindings i can find and it's GPLv2 Berkley DB - no .NET bindings i can find Tokyo Cabinet - no .NET bindings i can find and problematic to build on windows MadCow Memory-mapped data structures - GPLv2 Is there an option better than the above that i'm missing, or bindings for the above i don't know about?

  • Parsing concatenated, non-delimited XML messages from TCP-stream using C#

    I am trying to parse XML messages which are send to my C# application over TCP. Unfortunately, the protocol can not be changed and the XML messages are not delimited and no length prefix is used. Moreover the character encoding is not fixed but each message starts with an XML declaration <?xml>. The question is, how can i read one XML message at a time, using C#. Up to now, I tried to read the data from the TCP stream into a byte array and use it through a MemoryStream. The problem is, the buffer might contain more than one XML messages or the first message may be incomplete. In these cases, I get an exception when trying to parse it with XmlReader.Read or XmlDocument.Load, but unfortunately the XmlException does not really allow me to distinguish the problem (except parsing the localized error string). I tried using XmlReader.Read and count the number of Element and EndElement nodes. That way I know when I am finished reading the first, entire XML message. However, there are several problems. If the buffer does not yet contain the entire message, how can I distinguish the XmlException from an actually invalid, non-well-formed message? In other words, if an exception is thrown before reading the first root EndElement, how can I decide whether to abort the connection with error, or to collect more bytes from the TCP stream? If no exception occurs, the XmlReader is positioned at the start of the root EndElement. Casting the XmlReader to IXmlLineInfo gives me the current LineNumber and LinePosition, however it is not straight forward to get the byte position where the EndElement really ends. In order to do that, I would have to convert the byte array into a string (with the encoding specified in the XML declaration), seek to LineNumber,LinePosition and convert that back to the byte offset. I try to do that with StreamReader.ReadLine, but the stream reader gives no public access to the current byte position. All this seams very inelegant and non robust. I wonder if you have ideas for a better solution. Thank you. EDIT: I looked around and think that the situation is as follows (I might be wrong, corrections are welcome): I found no method so that the XmlReader can continue parsing a second XML message (at least not, if the second message has an XmlDeclaration). XmlTextReader.ResetState could do something similar, but for that I would have to assume the same encoding for all messages. Therefor I could not connect the XmlReader directly to the TcpStream. After closing the XmlReader, the buffer is not positioned at the readers last position. So it is not possible to close the reader and use a new one to continue with the next message. I guess the reason for this is, that the reader could not successfully seek on every possible input stream. When XmlReader throws an exception it can not be determined whether it happened because of an premature EOF or because of a non-wellformed XML. XmlReader.EOF is not set in case of an exception. As workaround I derived my own MemoryBuffer, which returns the very last byte as a single byte. This way I know that the XmlReader was really interested in the last byte and the following exception is likely due to a truncated message (this is kinda sloppy, in that it might not detect every non-wellformed message. However, after appending more bytes to the buffer, sooner or later the error will be detected. I could cast my XmlReader to the IXmlLineInfo interface, which gives access to the LineNumber and the LinePosition of the current node. So after reading the first message I remember these positions and use it to truncate the buffer. Here comes the really sloppy part, because I have to use the character encoding to get the byte position. I am sure you could find test cases for the code below where it breaks (e.g. internal elements with mixed encoding). But up to now it worked for all my tests.   • What do these MS DTC Exceptions mean?

    I wrote a program to demonstrate the behavior of DTC timeouts with multiple threads. I'm getting several exceptions, seemingly at random. Are all of these simple Timeouts, or are some of them indicative of deeper problems (connection pool interactions, etc)? The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) has cancelled the distributed transaction. Distributed transaction completed. Either enlist this session in a new transaction or the NULL transaction. The transaction associated with the current connection has completed but has not been disposed. The transaction must be disposed before the connection can be used to execute SQL statements. The operation is not valid for the state of the transaction. ExecuteReader requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed.   • Creating ViewResults outside of Controllers in ASP.NET MVC

    Several of my controller actions have a standard set of failure-handling behavior. In general, I want to: Load an object based on the Route Data (IDs and the like) If the Route Data does not point to a valid object (ex: through URL hacking) then inform the user of the problem and return an HTTP 404 Not Found Validate that the current user has the proper permissions on the object If the user doesn't have permission, inform the user of the problem and return an HTTP 403 Forbidden If the above is successful, then do something with that object that's action-specific (ie: render it in a view). These steps are so standardized that I want to have reusable code to implement the behavior. I've looked at creating a new ViewResult instance explicitly, but there's enough properties to set that I'm wary about doing so without knowing the pitfalls first. What's the best way to create a ViewResult from outside a particular Controller?

I had a few thoughts, but nothing worked in my testing: attempting to clear the onbeforeunload event via onbeforeonload = null had no effect adding an alert() stopped the process let the user know it was happening, but did not interfere with the code in any way; clicking OK lets the busting continue as normal I can't think of any way to clear the setInterval() timer I'm not much of a JavaScript programmer, so here's my challenge to you: hey buster, can you bust the frame-busting buster?

The problem is when a external method tries to set cbxJobPosition. cbxJobPosition is databinded with a list of objects of type JobPosition: JobPositionID: 1, JobPositionName: Manager JobPositionID: 2, JobPositionName: Employee JobPositionID: 3, JobPositionName: Third party Here's the XAML: <ComboBox Cursor="Hand" DataContext="{Binding}" ItemsSource="{Binding}" FontSize="13" Name="cbxJobPosition" SelectedValuePath="JobPositionID" DisplayMemberPath="JobPositionName" SelectedIndex="0" Width="233" Height="23" SelectionChanged="cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged" /> On UserControl_Loaded method, it reads from database the list of jobs and try to set the specific job position "Third party": //calls cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged and passes the correct SelectedValue within cbxJobPosition.SelectedIndex = 3; //calls cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged and but won't pass the correct SelectedValue within cbxJobPosition.SelectedValue = "3"; As you can notice, when the processing is automatically redirected to cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged, the SelectedValue attribute will have different values for each statement above when you're debugging within cbxJobPosition_SelectionChanged event. Does anyone know if this difference is expected, am I missing something or it could be a bug?

  • Unable to debug XBAP with Visual Studio 2010

    Just migrated my project to Visual Studio 2010, but target framework was left 3.5. Project contains an XBAP app in partial trust and a bunch of WCF services. Debugging is configured to start PresentationHost.exe with -debug and -debugSecurityZoneUrl parameters. Under VS2008 everything works fine, and in VS2010 Beta2 (don't sure about RC), but under VS2010 RTM debugging is for some reason doesn't working. Application runs, but doesn't hit any breakpoint. And if for example exception occurs, message box appears "Do you wish to debug or close..." and after I choose "debug" option new weird message box appears: --------------------------- Warning --------------------------- A debugger is attached to PresentationHost.exe but not configured to debug this unhandled exception. To debug this exception, detach the current debugger. An unhandled exception was raised from Microsoft .NET Framework v 1.0, 1.1, or 2.0, but the current debugger is configured to debug Microsoft .NET Framework v4.0 code. Examine the exception using the SOS tool. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- And where is the vaunted multitargeting? Did anyone have already bumped into same issue? UPDATE: Tried to debug with "Start browser with URL" option. Debugging is working, but I get SecurityException. So it is possible, just need to figure out how to make it work with "Start external program" option. UPDATE2: Checked what PresentationHost is actually loads in both scenarios: "Start external program" - Latest version (4.0.31106.0) from C:\Windows\System32\ "Start browser with URL" - Old version (3.0.6920.4902) from C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_wpf-presentationhostexe_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_6fca8974817173aa

  • Emacs: selective c-auto-newline

    When c-auto-newline is set to non-nil, it re-indents the current line and inserts a carriage return and then indents the new line. However. I'm using 1TBS indent-style, which means if/else statements are made like this: if (n == 1) { exit(EXIT_SUCCESS); } else { perror("n"); } Also, I write do/while write loops like this: do { printf("%d\n", n++); } while (n < 64); As such, while I do want a newline automatically inserted after every opening brace and semicolon, I don't want newlines to be automatically inserted after an if statement or do loop is concluded with a closing brace. How can I have GNU Emacs (23.2.1, *nix) selectively insert newlines like that? Along the same lines, can I have Emacs insert an opening brace, a newline, and a closing brace on another newline, while putting the cursor in the middle of the two braces after closing parentheses following an if statement, function declaration, and the like?

  • How to insert inline content from one FlowDocument into another?

    I'm building an application that needs to allow a user to insert text from one RichTextBox at the current caret position in another one. I spent a lot of time screwing around with the FlowDocument's object model before running across this technique - source and target are both FlowDocuments: using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream()) { TextRange tr = new TextRange(source.ContentStart, source.ContentEnd); tr.Save(ms, DataFormats.Xaml); ms.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin); tr = new TextRange(target.CaretPosition, target.CaretPosition); tr.Load(ms, DataFormats.Xaml); } This works remarkably well. The only problem I'm having with it now is that it always inserts the source as a new paragraph. It breaks the current run (or whatever) at the caret, inserts the source, and ends the paragraph. That's appropriate if the source actually is a paragraph (or more than one paragraph), but not if it's just (say) a line of text. I think it's likely that the answer to this is going to end up being checking the target to see if it consists entirely of a single block, and if it does, setting the TextRange to point at the beginning and end of the block's content before saving it to the stream. The entire world of the FlowDocument is a roiling sea of dark mysteries to me. I can become an expert at it if I have to (per Dostoevsky: "Man is the animal who can get used to anything."), but if someone has already figured this out and can tell me how to do this it would make my life far easier.

    It's crunch time, deadline for my most recent contract is coming in two days and almost everything is complete and working fine (knock on wood) except for one issue. In one of my stored procedures, I'm needing to return a result set as follows. group_id | name A101 | Craig A102 | Craig Z101 | Craig Z102 | Craig A101 | Jim A102 | Jim Z101 | Jim Z102 | Jim B101 | Andy B102 | Andy Z101 | Andy Z102 | Andy The names need to be sorted by the first character of the group id and also include the Z101/Z102 entries. By sorting strictly by the group id, I get a result set as follows: A101 | Craig A102 | Craig A101 | Jim A102 | Jim B101 | Andy B102 | Andy Z101 | Andy Z102 | Andy Z101 | Jim Z102 | Jim I really can't think of a solution that doesn't involve me making a cursor and bloating the stored procedure up more than it already is. I'm sure a great mind out there has an elegant solution and I'm eager to see what the community can come up with. Thanks a ton in advance.

What I'm seeing is that when run on the dev machine (Win7), a HTTP session id is available inside the service operation (HttpContext.Current.Session is non-null). But when deployed to the server (Win2k8R2), I get "No session". On both machines the app is configured to use the classic app pool, and the app pools themselves are configured identically as far as I can tell. The only differences I can discern between the two applications is that on the dev box, under "Handler Mappings", ISAPI-dll is disabled (not on the server), and on the server there's a spurious handler called "AboMapperCustom-7105160" (does not exist on the dev box). What should I be looking at next? Am I missing something head-slappingly simple?   • Filter Dynamically Calendar View SharePoint

    Hello world I'm using SP wss 3.0 wondering if anybody knows how to filter a calendar view in SharePoint dynamically based upon the current user. It's not the simple question of using [ME] because this will not work with single line text fields. Also users do not add the items, they are being imported. So filtering on the basis of Created by, Modified by, Assigned to, or People picking data is not a option. Already managed to get to the current user in a jScript variable, now I would like to filter it in the calendar view. Been searching for a long time now, but can't seem to find anything. Altough filtering with a all items view is possible, yet I can't seem to find a way to dynamically filter a calendar view. Already tried modifing allitems.aspx view page in Designer Fooling around with CAML jScript (as far as I know) Calculated views Google (find more other cool things then a solution) Ofcourse I don't expect a solution on a silver platter (ofcourse would be nice ;) ), but if somebody can point me into a direction I already would be quite happy.

    I've been trying to use sIFR to change some text in my webpage. It works fine until I try to get it to use a transparent canvas. The code I'm using is as follow. I have no idea to fix it. I've seen a lot of people make this questions about wmode: 'transparent' and it all seems to work but mine. Can someone give me a hand??? Without the wmode: 'transparent' property it works fine.     I know MS T-SQL does not support regular expression, but I need similar functionality. Here's what I'm trying to do: I have a varchar table field which stores a breadcrumb, like this: /ID1:Category1/ID2:Category2/ID3:Category3/ Each Category name is preceded by its Category ID, separated by a colon. I'd like to select and display these breadcrumbs but I want to remove the Category IDs and colons, like this: /Category1/Category2/Category3/ Everything between the leading slash (/) up to and including the colon (:) should be stripped out. I don't have the option of extracting the data, manipulating it externally, and re-inserting back into the table; so I'm trying to accomplish this in a SELECT statement. I also can't resort to using a cursor to loop through each row and clean each field with a nested loop, due to the number of rows returned in the SELECT. Can this be done? Thanks all - Jay

    All, I'm working on a class project to build a little Connect4 game in Java. My current thinking is to have a class of Columns that have as instance variable a few integers (index, max. length, isFull?) and one ArrayList to receive both the integers above and the plays of each players (e.g., 1's and 0's standing for X's and O's). This is probably going to be split between 2 classes but the question remains the same. My current attempt looks like this: import java.util.ArrayList; public class Conn4Col { public int hMax; public int index; public final int initialSize = 0; public final int fullCol = 0; public ArrayList<Integer>; (...)} Unfortunately, this doesn't compile. The compiler says an is missing where my ArrayList declaration stands. We're just starting objects and we haven't really looked into other instance variables than the basic types.     I have a selfhosted WCF service application which I want to deploy by a msi installer package. The endpoint uses http port 8888. In order to startup the project under windows 2008 after installation I have to either run the program as administrator or have to edit the http settings with netsh: "netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:8888/ user=\Everyone" I want to edit the http settings from my installer class. I have also tried to use Environment.UserName to allow access at least for the current logged on user. But this does also not work, because the installer class is run by the msi service which runs under the user SYSTEM. Hence Enviroment.UserName returns SYSTEM and that is not what I want. Is there a way to grant access to all (or at least for the current logged on) user to my selfhosted WCF service from a msi installer class?

  • Tips on implementing a custom UITextView interface on the iPhone?

    I am trying to implement a control to edit text that will display the text in multiple colors. None of the solutions I have attempted yet have been good enough. UITextView cannot accomplish this. All of the text must be the same color. Using CoreGraphics to draw the text does not allow the text to be selected. Using a UIWebView, DIV and PRE tags cannot be set to contentEditable on Mobile Safari. Currently playing with using an off-screen TEXTAREA and an on-screen DIV to show the rendered text. This works pretty well, except supporting all of these at the same time seems impossible: click-to-type, click-to-move-cursor, click-and-hold-select/copy/paste. Anyone have any tips on this predicament? I've been trying to find any preexisting library out there that will accomplish this in a good way, to no luck. I'm open to any ideas!

    I'm trying to build a Google map application but keep receiving this in my LogCat. I have all the permissions and meta-data set in my manifest, but am still dumbfounded by this error. Have looked everywhere on SO for this specific error but found nothing relating to com.google.android.gms.checkin A little bit about my structural hierarchy. MainActivity extends ActionBarActivity with three tabs underneath actionbar. Each tab has it's own fragment. On the gMapFragment I create a GPSTrack object from my GPSTrack class which extends Service and implements LocationListener. The problem is that when I start the application I get this message: I have all my libraries imported properly and I even added the google-play-services.jar into my libs folder. I also installed Google Play Services APKs through CMD onto my emulator. Furthermore the LocationManager lm = = (LocationManager) mContext.getSystemService(LOCATION_SERVICE); in my GPSTrack class always returns null. Why is this and how can I fix these issues?   • how can i make a link in XML

    I have this flash website that comes with XML. The website is predefined in such a way that when I hoover the mouse cursor over some pictures or text, it will show the pointing hand, thus meaning it's a clickable link. Originally, it would look like so: After I changed the link part, it becomes: However, this seems not to be working (google link is just an example). The pointing hand is still showing, but when I click on it, nothing happens. So my question is quite simple, how do I link in XML (sorry if all this sounded rather stupid, I'm a noob)
