  • background semitransparent div

    - by plasticrabbit
I want to show some dialog (absolute positioned div), and I want to show it above semitransparent 100% div, so everything on background will be dimmed. I have managed it by <div class='transpBox'></div> .transparentBox { position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; background-color: #white; opacity: 0.9; z-index: 499; } This is all right, but when dialog height is more than browser height and you scroll down, you see that transparent div is not in full screen. What is proper way to make such thing?

  • Border-radius bug on <a> in IE9

    - by adamyonk
Seeing that <div> elements render border/border-radius correctly, but any <a> or <button> that has a background, border and border-radius set shows the background color or image as a square, and only the border is round. Tried setting <a> & <button> to display: block or display: inline-block but that didn't work. Is there a known workaround? Here is a link to the computed style from Webkit: https://gist.github.com/773719 Here is the computed style from IE9 dev tools:

  • IE font size decrease does not cause select box height to decrease

    - by leaf dev
I have a font resize function on my page which increases the font size via javascript for the entire page. This works fine in most browsers except IE. When decreasing the font size after increasing it, the select boxes new height does not decrease, even though the font size is decreasing on it. Instead the smaller font appears to be padded with white space. Any ideas as to what IE is doing here, and a work around?

  • How to make a div expand vertically to wrpa the content within it?

    - by MalcomTucker
I have a div which wraps a number of images that are generated dynamically. I don't know how high the list of images is. My problem is the div that contains the dynamically generated images doesn't behave like it is housing any content - I want it to extend to the height of the list of images. Each image is itself wrapped in a div. This is the wrapper div: .block { padding:10px; margin-top:10px; height:auto; background-color:#f9f9f9; } This is the markup dynamically generated for (one of) the images: <div class="block"> <div style="float: left; padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px;"><IMG SRC="45.jpg" BORDER="0"/></div> ..... How do I get the block div to extend down with the images? Thanks

  • How do i make the text in this div expand vertically and not horizontally?

    - by Shripad K
Here is something that has bogged me down for quite sometime. I have created two fiddles so you can test live: Fiddle #1: http://www.jsfiddle.net/Jdk9R/2/ Fiddle #2: http://www.jsfiddle.net/d5PEu/ Looking at the Fiddle #1 you can make out that if the text is not formatted properly with spaces, the text overflows the border. How do i make this function similar to fiddle #2? Or is this unavoidable?

  • vertical align img

    - by JK36
I have a div called "images" which has a width of 277px. Within that div I have 9 images in it, just stored as tags. I've got the images to float left and line up quite nicely within my div, but I would like the images to align vertically, as some are portrait and others are landscape. I know I can do this if I enclose each image in a div, but the plugin I use to launch the gallery won't recognise which image is being fired, so i need to enclose them as just within the tags. This is the code I have, if someone can help me just align the images horizontally and vertically. I don't want the images to be skewed. #images_box a { float:left; padding:9px; width: 70px; height: 70px; text-align: center; vertical-align: middle; display: table-cell; } my data <div id="images"> <a class="fancybox" rel="gallery1" href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7069/7060779347_fbee5aae15_b.jpg" title="morning after[explored] (mariosworld343)"> <img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7069/7060779347_fbee5aae15_m.jpg" alt="" /> </a> <a class="fancybox" rel="gallery1" href="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7234/7047458501_46a2203733_b.jpg" title="Self confined... • Put text directly to the left of an <LI>

    - by Horace Loeb
I have a list of songs, and I want to put the word "New!" to the left of the new songs like this: How can I do this so that all the songs line up? I.e., I want the names of songs that aren't new to line up with the names of songs that are new, not with the start of the word "New" Note that this is trivial if "New!" is an image. I.e., I set the image as the background-image of the <li> and give it some padding-left

There are images displayed inside a HTML table in a PHP code : The code of this table is : for ($i = 0; $i < $data['list']['cnt']; $i++) { $tabRows[$i][1]['width'] = "45%"; $tabRows[$i][1]['align'] = "center"; $tabRows[$i][1]['value'] = '<img src="'.HTTP_FIGURES.$data['list'][$i]['fig_image'].'" />'; } As you can see the background of the images are seen and they make the page dirty. • test php disabled caching

    - by user1691389
My site had a problem in that certain browsers (especially opera and gecko) were "over-caching" (caching far too much for my taste). I've just added the following PHP snippet to hopefully disable caching in all browsers: <?php header("Expires: Tue, 01 Jan 2000 00:00:00 GMT"); header("Last-Modified: " . gmdate("D, d M Y H:i:s") . " GMT"); header("Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, max-age=0"); header("Cache-Control: post-check=0, pre-check=0", false); header("Pragma: no-cache"); ?> Question: How would you test this out, to make sure it actually works?

  • Problems with viewing site in Internet Exploder

    - by Kevin
I built a site and I'm just about finished. It displays properly in all the browsers I have (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) but my client is not computer savvy at all and still uses Internet Explorer, so that's all he's using to view the site. I don't have IE to test the site so I've been using BrowserStack.com and I see in IE that the site is broken. The navigation bar has a white background and is pushed down a line, and the logo isn't appearing. Could anybody please assist me with figuring out why the site isn't displaying properly in IE, and how to fix it? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Site: WebuildCAhomes dot com

  • How to override "inherited" z-indexes?

    - by Earlz
    I am needing to override the notion of inherited z-indexes. For instance in this code <style> div{ background-color:white; top: 0px; bottom: 0px; left: 0px; right: 0px; } </style> <div style="position: fixed; z-index: 2;"> div 1 <div style="position: fixed; z-index: 3;"> div 2 </div> </div> <div style="position: fixed; z-index: 2;"> div 3 </div> http://jsbin.com/epoqo3/3 I want for div 2 to be displayed, but instead div 3 is displayed. How can I change this behavior without changing my structure.

  • How to reference input elements within a specific scope when there are multiple input elements of same kind?

    - by Will Merydith
How do I select data for input elements within a specific scope? I have the same form multiple times (class "foo-form), and want to ensure I get the values for the hidden inputs within the scope of the form being submitted. Is the scope "this" implied? If not, what is the syntax for selecting input class "foo-text" within the scope of this? Feel free to point me to examples in the jquery docs - I could not find what I was looking for. $('.foo-form').submit(function() { // Store a reference to this form var $thisForm = $(this); }); <form class="foo-form"> <input type="hidden" class="foo-text"/> <input type="submit" class="button" /> </form> <form class="foo-form"> <input type="hidden" class="foo-text"/> <input type="submit" class="button" /> </form> <form class="foo-form"> <input type="hidden" class="foo-text"/> <input type="submit" class="button" /> // user clicks this submit button </form>

  • How to align all fields as label width grows

    - by TheCloudlessSky
I have a form where the labels are on the left and the fields on the right. This layout works great when the labels have small amounts of text. I can easily set a min-width on the labels to ensure they all have the same distance to the fields. In the first picture below, this works as expected. A problem arises when the label's text becomes too long, it'll either overflow to the next line or push the field on the same line over to the left (as seen in picture 2). This doesn't push the other labels so it is left with a "jagged" look. Ideally, it should like to style it as picture 3 with something like the following markup: <fieldset> <label>Name</label><input type="text" /><br /> <label>Username</label><input type="text" /> </fieldset> I created a jsFiddle to show the issue. Of course, the easy cross-browser way to solve this would be to use tables. That just creates tag-hell for something that should be so simple. Note: this does not need to support IE6.

  • IE6 Overflow Issue

    - by Nimbuz
<div style="float:left; width:50%;"> div 1 <div style="position:absolute; width:105%">nested element</div> </div> <div style="float:left; width:50%;"> div 2 </div If an element exceeds the width of its floated parent element, the next element is pushed down unless I apply overflow:hidden on both floated elements, which defeats the purpose because I DO NOT want to hide the overflowing content. Is there any fix for it?
