  • Django: get count of ForeignKey item in template?

    - by AP257
Straightforward question - apologies if it is a duplicate, but I can't find the answer if so. I have a User model and a Submission model, like this: class Submission(models.Model): uploaded_by = models.ForeignKey('User') class User(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=250 ) How can I show the number of Submissions made by each user in the template? I've tried {{ user.submission.count }}, like this: for user in users: {{ user.name }} ({{ user.submission.count }} submissions) but no luck...

  • What are All the Ways a Programmer Could use PHP to Send an Email?

    - by Alan Storm
I'm looking for a list of built in PHP functions that a programmer could use to send an email. The obvious answer here is mail(), but I'm also looking for a list of functions someone might use to manually open a connection to an MTA, or spawn a process on the local machine which might in turn send an email using sendmail, postfix, etc. The context here is I want to scan a large, unknown codebase for code that's sending out email (because we already located a call to mail(), and that's not doing it)

  • How to remove control chars from UTF8 string

    - by Mimefilt
Hi there, i have a VB.NET program that handles the content of documents. The programm handles high volumes of documents as "batch"(2Million documents;total 1TB volume) Some of this documents may contain control chars or chars like f0e8(http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/f0e8/browsertest.htm). Is there a easy and especially fast way to remove that chars?(except space,newline,tab,...) If the answer is regex: Has anyone a complete regex for me? Thanks!

  • Linux foxboard network monitor

    - by het.oosten
I want to use a Foxboard a simple network monitor for multiple routers (all routers are connected to the internet). Foxboard is a mini pc with an embedded version of Debian. My idea is to use multiple virtual network devices like this: eth0 192.168.2.10 eth0:1 192.168.3.10 eth0:2 192.168.4.10 I found a nice Python script to ping an external host here (the solution from Ryan Cox): http://stackoverflow.com/questions/316866/ping-a-site-in-python Is it possible to configure Debian to use eth0 when I ping www.site-a.com and eth0:1 when I ping www.site-b.com?

  • Escape SQL "LIKE" value for Postgres with psycopg2

    - by Evgeny
Does psycopg2 have a function for escaping the value of a LIKE operand for Postgres? For example I may want to match strings that start with the string "20% of all", so I want to write something like this: sql = '... WHERE ... LIKE %(myvalue)s' cursor.fetchall(sql, { 'myvalue': escape_sql_like('20% of all') + '%' } Is there an existing escape_sql_like function that I could plug in here? (Similar question to How to quote a string value explicitly (Python DB API/Psycopg2), but I couldn't find an answer there.)

  • Project Euler #18 - how to brute force all possible paths in tree-like structure using Python?

    - by euler user
    Am trying to learn Python the Atlantic way and am stuck on Project Euler #18. All of the stuff I can find on the web (and there's a LOT more googling that happened beyond that) is some variation on 'well you COULD brute force it, but here's a more elegant solution'... I get it, I totally do. There are really neat solutions out there, and I look forward to the day where the phrase 'acyclic graph' conjures up something more than a hazy, 1 megapixel resolution in my head. But I need to walk before I run here, see the state, and toy around with the brute force answer. So, question: how do I generate (enumerate?) all valid paths for the triangle in Project Euler #18 and store them in an appropriate python data structure? (A list of lists is my initial inclination?). I don't want the answer - I want to know how to brute force all the paths and store them into a data structure. Here's what I've got. I'm definitely looping over the data set wrong. The desired behavior would be to go 'depth first(?)' rather than just looping over each row ineffectually.. I read ch. 3 of Norvig's book but couldn't translate the psuedo-code. Tried reading over the AIMA python library for ch. 3 but it makes too many leaps. triangle = [ [75], [95, 64], [17, 47, 82], [18, 35, 87, 10], [20, 4, 82, 47, 65], [19, 1, 23, 75, 3, 34], [88, 2, 77, 73, 7, 63, 67], [99, 65, 4, 28, 6, 16, 70, 92], [41, 41, 26, 56, 83, 40, 80, 70, 33], [41, 48, 72, 33, 47, 32, 37, 16, 94, 29], [53, 71, 44, 65, 25, 43, 91, 52, 97, 51, 14], [70, 11, 33, 28, 77, 73, 17, 78, 39, 68, 17, 57], [91, 71, 52, 38, 17, 14, 91, 43, 58, 50, 27, 29, 48], [63, 66, 4, 68, 89, 53, 67, 30, 73, 16, 69, 87, 40, 31], [04, 62, 98, 27, 23, 9, 70, 98, 73, 93, 38, 53, 60, 4, 23], ] def expand_node(r, c): return [[r+1,c+0],[r+1,c+1]] all_paths = [] my_path = [] for i in xrange(0, len(triangle)): for j in xrange(0, len(triangle[i])): print 'row ', i, ' and col ', j, ' value is ', triangle[i][j] ??my_path = somehow chain these together??? if my_path not in all_paths all_paths.append(my_path) Answers that avoid external libraries (like itertools) preferred.

  • Disadvantages of using a swap file/partition on an SSD, even when swappiness is set to 0

    - by pjv
What are the disadvantages of using a swap file/partition on an SSD, even when swappiness is set to 0 I'm particularly interested in the /proc/sys/vm/swappiness=0 case. How much writes are still done, in practice, to that swap file, and does it have a negative impact to the SSD or any other disadvantage? Or would it nearly compare to not having a swap file? I am pretty aware of what swappiness=0 means, just not of what it amounts to in practice. My question stems from a problem I am experiencing without a swap: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4567972/error-executing-aapt-all-of-the-sudden. There are similar questions regarding SSD and swap but they don't go in-depth into the swappiness=0: Disadvantages of not having a swap partition, Should I keep my swap file on an SSD drive?

    - by Matt
I'm new to java and i'm trying to find a way of incrementing through an user input IP address range. For example from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.255. However the way my application works at the moment is the take the from and to ip addresses as a String. Is there a way I can increment through all the ip addresses the user input from and to? Hope this makes sense and please dont flame me, I have looked for an answer!

  • Nginx (for static files) and Apache (for dynamic content)?

    - by matthewsteiner
So, my entire application runs on apache just fine. However, I want to test how much the requests per second increases if I put all static files through nginx instead. I found this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/869001/how-to-serve-all-existing-static-files-directly-with-nginx-but-proxy-to-apache-t But I have a couple problems. I'm completely new to nginx, so I'm not sure where to put the configuration. (The file is at /etc/nginx/nginx.conf, but I don't know if I just add the code to the bottom or what?) Also, how can I have both servers running at the same time? Is it because they both listen on port 80? Right now I have to stop one to start the other, and that's as far as I've gotten. Thanks for any help.

  • How is animation accomplished in these apps?

    - by android noob
Most of the Android users use the GO SMS app, and the iPhone users use their normal messaging app (Android rocks). Now, whenever a user types a message and presses the send button, the message's edit text field sets a glossy green background, also the green colored background comes floating at the back of the edit text field. How do they do it? (I have been searching this for a while, but was unable to find an answer.)

  • How Do I Delete Misnamed Tagged Directory Already Committed?

    - by Teno
I'm new to using the SVN system and having hard time figuring out how to delete files uploaded mistakenly. What I've done: Committed the trunk folder with right clicking on "SVN Commit" Right clicked and choose "TortoiseSVN" - "Branch/Tag" In the section of "To path:" in the "Branch/Tag - Tortoise" window, I typed /*mydirectory*/tags/*1.0.11* where 1.0.11 was supposed to be 1.0.1.1 After realizing 1.0.11 was a mistake, to remove the directory, I right clicked on the 1.0.11 folder in Windows and selected "TortoiseSVN" - "Delete" It deleted the folder in Windows but does not delete the folder in the remote server. According to this page,http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2092344/how-do-i-delete-a-wrongly-tagged-directory-in-svn, a command can be used and I tried to type svn in the command prompt window but it gives svn is not recognized as an internal or external command. This should be a very basic question but I could not find relevant pages. Some pages suggest to use revert but I've already committed 1.0.1.1 so I'm afraid doing revert causes the newest one to be deleted. Thanks for your information.

  • What kind of cost does Symbian require?

    - by httpinterpret
Quoted from this answer: Cost of tools: JavaME would be cheapest, followed by Symbian, Android then iPhone. I want to get started with mobile phone programing, but I don't see where Symbian does cost, as its SDK is available for free. Anyone knows? BTW,many people say Symbian only supports Symbian C++, but after reading its document, it seems it also support Java, is this feature newly added?

  • Change a select list display value upon selecting description

    - by eli
Hello, I would like a select list that does the following: When the select list is open, display the list of descriptions. When the user selects an item, the select list will close an only the value will be displayed. The reason for this is to conserve space as the values will be much shorter. I'm hoping that there's an answer in jQuery. Thanks.
