Hi Guys, I'm really new to apache mod_rewrite module. I have a page called http://abc in my company intranet. I want users to be redirected to http://abc.somecompanyname.com whenever they type http://abc to the URL bar. Could someone please provide and example or point me in the right direction. • How to specify or add directory to Python.h search path during setup.py build/install

    - by ca2longoria
I'm running Linux, and have downloaded a python module I must install without access to any but my particular /home/user directory (I have no root privileges nor the option to pursue them). This of course requires the Python source. This I've downloaded and have laying around in said user directory. While asking the admin to copy the proper files into /usr/include/python2.7 is the easiest way to go about this, I am hoping for a more general and portable solution to this kind of problem. Changing only data in the module source (MANIFEST.in, README.txt, setup.py, etc.), how might I add an arbitrary directory to the search path for Python.h and friends? (Without a solution, "python setup.py build" will continue returning with the "Python.h: No such file or directory" error) Thank you very much. (Additionally, is it acceptable to post this both here and on StackOverflow?)

  • Is it possible to have more than P2P on iPhone with Bluetooth

    - by Ricardo Ferreira
Hi all, This seems like a straightforward google search answer, but after a while, I still can't be 100% sure of this. I've found Z2Live (http://www.z2live.com/), which is basically a layer above GameKit and they too use only P2P with Bluetooth. So I just want to be sure if I can only have P2P with Bluetooth or if I can have like 4 iPhones all connected to a server (who will also be a client) using Bluetooth. Thanks in advance.

  • Django - Can you use property as the field in an aggregation function?

    - by orokusaki
I know the short answer because I tried it. Is there any way to accomplish this though (even if only on account of a hack)? class Ticket(models.Model): account = modelfields.AccountField() uuid = models.CharField(max_length=36, unique=True) created = models.DateTimeField(auto_now_add=True) class Meta: ordering = ['created'] @property def repair_cost(self): # cost is a @property of LineItem(models.Model) return self.lineitem_set.aggregate(models.Sum('cost'))

  • Project Euler #9 (Pythagorean triplets) in Clojure

    - by dbyrne
    My answer to this problem feels too much like these solutions in C. Does anyone have any advice to make this more lispy? (use 'clojure.test) (:import 'java.lang.Math) (with-test (defn find-triplet-product ([target] (find-triplet-product 1 1 target)) ([a b target] (let [c (Math/sqrt (+ (* a a) (* b b)))] (let [sum (+ a b c)] (cond (> a target) "ERROR" (= sum target) (reduce * (list a b (int c))) (> sum target) (recur (inc a) 1 target) (< sum target) (recur a (inc b) target)))))) (is (= (find-triplet-product 1000) 31875000)))

  • Why isn't LISP more widely used?

    - by Chris
I've heard a lot of people espouse the capabilities of LISP and its omnipotent macros. If LISP is such a great language, why isn't it being adopted more? What problems is LISP facing that is holding it back from (re)emerging as popular language? Is it something about LISP itself ("those brackets!" isn't the answer, is it?!), or its competitors (e.g. the dominance of Java, .NET)?

  • Qt C++ XML, validating against a DTD?

    - by Airjoe
Is there a way to validate an XML file against a DTD with Qt's XML handling? I've tried googling around but can't seem to get a straight answer. If Qt doesn't include support for validating an XML file, what might be the process of implementing validation myself? Any good reference to start with in regards to validating XML against a spec? Thanks for the help!

  • Heroku in real life apps

    - by Victor P
What is your experience using Ruby on Rails on Heroku in production mode? Apart of the issue of the expensive https, do you see any drawback in the way it manages processes, memory and storage? The people at Heroku is quite nice and I'm sure they are willing to answer my questions, but I would like some opinions in the customer side.

  • What are some good usability guidelines an average developer should follow?

    - by Allain Lalonde
I'm not a usability specialist, and I really don't care to be one. I just want a small set of rules of thumb that I can follow while coding my User Interfaces so that my product has decent usability. At first I thought that this question would be easy to answer "Use your common sense", but if it's so common among us developers we wouldn't, as a group, have a reputation for our horrible interfaces. Any Suggestions?

  • Can processor cores thrash each other's caches?

    - by Jørgen Fogh
If more than one core on a processor is accessing the same memory address, will they thrash each other's caches or will some snooping protocol allow each to keep the data in L1-cache? I am interested in a general answer as well as answers for specific processors. How many layers of cache are invalidated? Will accessing another address within the same cache-line invalidate the entire line? What can you do to alleviate these problems?

  • Calculating volume for sphere in c++

    - by Crystal
    This is probably an easy one, but is the right way to calculate volume for a sphere in c++. My getArea() seems to be right, but when I call getVolume() it doesn't output the right amount. With a sphere of radius = 1, it gives me the answer of pi, which is incorrect: double Sphere::getArea() const { return 4 * Shape::pi * pow(getZ(), 2); } double Sphere::getVolume() const { return (4 / 3) * Shape::pi * pow(getZ(), 3); }

  • What is the best credit card processing service?

    - by JerSchneid
We're looking to add credit card payments to our system (and it needs to be fairly custom, handling variable "per use" charges each month). We would like the integration to be simple and secure (i.e. no storing of credit card data on our system). What, in your opinion, is the best credit card processing provider to offer this kind of security and flexibility. List only one provider per answer to let the voting system do it's thing.

  • lwjgl 101: How can I use VBOs?

    - by Vuntic
How can I draw anything in lwjgl using VBOs? When I follow the tutorial, it just breaks. I've also tried running this example (with the byteorder fix) but it just displays a blank window. SO hasn't been helpful to me yet, but this is the last place I can think of that might have an answer...
