  • Java Web Server with Jetty - TCP Connections Taking Long

    - by daysleeper
I have an application with fairly high traffic (20K req/min) running on the JVM with a Jetty servlet container on Ubuntu. Below is my Jetty configuration: 10 20 2000 2 When I analyze the network traffic, I realize that sometimes it is taking long to establish TCP connections on the port that Jetty is running. The long connections are varying between 3.0s and 9.0s. The port is configured to accept MAX number of TCP connections. Do you know what might be causing the delay in accepting connections? Thanks

  • Are there any Visual Studio add-ins for true 'smart tabs'?

    - by Eye of Hell
Hello. 'Smart Tabs' concept allows to automatically insert tab character for block indentation and space characters for in-block formatting. It's described here. Unfortunately, Visual Studio's 'smart tabs' option in text editor settings just indents text on enter press. Same name, completely different and near useless thing :). So, maybe someone knows of a visual studio addin that can change how 'tab' key work so it will insert tab characters and space characters according to rules mentioned above? Any hints are welcome. Update: I need it for C++. According to comments, ReSharper can do something like this, but only for Basic and C#.

  • Lighttpd + fastcgi + python (for django) slow on first request

    - by EagleOne
I'm having a problem with a django website I host with lighttpd + fastcgi. It works great but it seems that the first request always takes up to 3seconds. Subsequent requests are much faster (<1s). I activated access logs in lighttpd in order to track the issue. But I'm kind of stuck. • Socket connection to a telnet-based server hangs on read

    - by mixwhit
I'm trying to write a simple socket-based client in Python that will connect to a telnet server. I can test the server by telnetting to its port (5007), and entering text. It responds with a NAK (error) or an AK (success), sometimes accompanied by other text. Seems very simple. I wrote a client to connect and communicate with the server, but it hangs on the first attempt to read the response. The connection is successful. Queries like getsockname and getpeername are successful. The send command returns a value that equals the number of characters I'm sending, so it seems to be sending correctly. But in the end, it always hangs when I try to read the response. I've tried using both file-based objects like readline and write (via socket.makefile), as well as using send and recv. With the file object I tried making it with "rw" and reading and writing via that object, and later tried one object for "r" and another for "w" to separate them. None of these worked. I used a packet sniffer to watch what's going on. I'm not versed in all that I'm seeing, but during a telnet session I can see my typed text and the server's text coming back. During my Python socket connection, I can see my text going to the server, but packets back don't seem to have any text in them. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong, or any strategies to try? Here's the code I'm using (in this case, it's with send and recv): #!/usr/bin/python host = "localhost" port = 5007 msg = "HELLO EMC 1 1" msg2 = "HELLO" import socket import sys try: skt = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM) except socket.error, e: print("Error creating socket: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) try: skt.connect((host, port)) except socket.gaierror, e: print("Address-related error connecting to server: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) except socket.error, e: print("Error connecting to socket: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) try: print(skt.send(msg)) print("SEND: %s" % msg) except socket.error, e: print("Error sending data: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) while 1: try: buf = skt.recv(1024) print("RECV: %s" % buf) except socket.error, e: print("Error receiving data: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) if not len(buf): break sys.stdout.write(buf)

  • (C++) If statement not effective

void spriteput(int x,int y, int stype) { char sprite1[5]="OOOO"; char sprite2[5]="OOOO"; char sprite3[5]="OOOO"; char sprite4[5]="OOOO"; if (stype == 1) { char sprite1[5] = " OO "; char sprite2[5] = "OOOO"; char sprite3[5] = "OOOO"; char sprite4[5] = " OO "; mvprintw(2,y,"%s \n",sprite1); } mvprintw(x+1,y,"%s \n",sprite2); mvprintw(x+2,y,"%s \n",sprite3); mvprintw(x+3,y,"%s \n",sprite4); } If I'm correct that block of code should print out on a NCURSES screen OO OOOO OOOO OO Instead however, it prints out the default text (the first char statements). Can anyone tell me why this is? The "printw" statement inside the If-block prints out the proper text, so it's being assigned correctly. Thank you in advance.

  • Ruby: having callbacks on 'attr' objects

    - by JP
    Essentially I'm wondering how to place callbacks on objects in ruby, so that when an object is changed in anyway I can automatically trigger other changes: class MyClass attr_reader :proxy def proxy=(string_proxy = "") begin @proxy = URI.parse("http://"+((string_proxy.empty?) ? ENV['HTTP_PROXY'] : string_proxy)) @http = Net::HTTP::Proxy.new(@proxy.host,@proxy.port) rescue @http = Net::HTTP end end end m = MyClass.new m.proxy = "myproxy.com:8080" p m.proxy # => <URI: @host="myproxy.com" @port=8080> # However changing m.proxy will not change the @http variable, as proxy= is not being called. # Desired functionality: m.proxy = nil # Now @http.class is Net::HTTP, not Net::HTTP::Proxy

  • Out of Memory Matlab Error

    - by Hani
Dears. I am using Matlab 2009b and having an out of memory error. I read other posted sol but they are not useful for me. I am sure that i am doing things right but i must use very huge amount of array sizes. I think that the problem lies beyond the fact that Matlab does not enable an array to be in more than one OS block. I am using Windows 7. Is there a way to get rid of this problem. For example can i increase the array block that Matlab uses in Windows 7? Thanks...Hani Almousli

  • Using pthread condition variable with rwlock

    - by Doomsday
Hello, I'm looking for a way to use pthread rwlock structure with conditions routines in C++. I have two questions: First: How is it possible and if we can't, why ? Second: Why current POSIX pthread have not implemented this behaviour ? To understand my purpose, I explain what will be my use: I've a producer-consumer model dealing with one shared array. The consumer will cond_wait when the array is empty, but rdlock when reading some elems. The producer will wrlock when adding(+signal) or removing elems from the array. The benefit of using rdlock instead of mutex_lock is to improve performance: when using mutex_lock, several readers would block, whereas using rdlock several readers would not block.

  • Programatically determining file "size on disk" in advance

    - by porkchop
I need to know how big a given in-memory buffer will be as an on-disk (usb stick) file before I write it. I know that unless the size falls on the block size boundary, its likely to get rounded up, e.g. a 1 byte file takes up 4096 bytes on-disk. I'm currently doing this using GetDiskFreeSpace() to work out the disk block size, then using this to calculate the on-disk size like this: GetDiskFreeSpace(szDrive, &dwSectorsPerCluster, &dwBytesPerSector, NULL, NULL); dwBlockSize = dwSectorsPerCuster * dwBytesPerSector; if (dwInMemorySize % dwBlockSize != 0) { dwSizeOnDisk = ((dwInMemorySize / dwBlockSize) * dwBlockSize) + dwBlockSize; } else { dwSizeOnDisk = dwInMemorySize; } Which seems to work fine, BUT GetDiskFreeSpace() only works on disks up to 2GB according to MSDN. GetDiskFreeSpaceEx() doesn't return the same information, so my question is, how else can I calculate this information for drives 2GB? Is there an API call I've missed? Can I assume some hard values depending on the overall disk size?

  • how to customize the filter when following a stream in wireshark?

    - by jim
when selecting a packet and choosing to follow the stream, wireshark automatically sets a filter that looks something like this: (ip.addr eq 10.2.3.8 and ip.addr eq 10.2.255.255) and (udp.port eq 999 and udp.port eq 899). i'd like to be able to set that myself when following the stream, but have not been able to identify where to do that. setting the display filter has no effect. in fact, after following the stream, whatever display filter is currently set will be replaced by the follow stream formatted filter. is customizing the follow stream filter even possible? thanks

  • How can I ensure that JavaScript inserted via AJAX will be executed after the accompanying HTML (als

    - by RenderIn
I've got portions of pages being replaced with HTML retrieved via AJAX calls. Some of the HTML coming back has JavaScript that needs to be run once in order to initialize the accompanying HTML (setting up event handlers). Since the document has already been loaded, when I replace chunks of HTML using jQuery's .html function, having jQuery(document).ready(function() {...}); doesn't execute since the page loaded long before and this is just a snippet of HTML being replaced. What's the best way to attach event handlers whose code is packaged along with the HTML it's interested in, when that content is loaded via AJAX? Should I just put a procedural block of javascript after the HTML , so that when I insert the new HTML block, jQuery will execute the javascript immediately? Is the HTML definitely in the DOM and ready to be acted upon by JavaScript which is in the same .html call?

  • MySQL does not work on localhost without Local Area Connection

    - by user985171
I use WampServer(Apache, PHP, MySQL) and have no problems when some kind of network adapter(wireless or lan) is connected(i-e Local Area Connection has status connected) 'even if i am not connected to the internet'(for example when i am connected to the router but that is not connected to the internet). When there is no network connection, i get a php error like MySQL could not connect to 127.0.0.1 on port 3306. Interestingly, 'telnet 127.0.0.1 3306' says that it could not connect to the port, even when the server and MySQL are running fine(i-e when some kind of local area connection is connected). So i turned off all kinds of firewall(antivirus and windows) but still no difference in anything. And that is why this issue is quite puzzling. Things i have already tried(will update this list along the way):- -The skip-networking directive in my.ini.

  • Force memcached to write to all servers in pool

    - by Industrial
Hi everyone, I have thought a bit on how to make sure that a particular key is distributed to ALL memcached servers in a pool. My current, untested solution is to make another instance of memcached, something like this: $cluster['local'] = array('host' => '192.168.1.1', 'port' => '11211', 'weight' => 50); foreach ($this->cluster() as $cluster) { @$this->tempMemcache = new Memcache; @$this->tempMemcache->connect($cluster['host'], $cluster['port']); @$this->tempMemcache->set($key, $value, $this->compress, $expireTime); @$this->tempMemcache->close(); } What is common sense to do in this case, when certain keys need to be stored on ALL servers for reliability?

  • How to check whether iterators form a contiguous memory zone?

As we read directly a block of memory, it will only work if the memory block from first to last is contiguous in memory. How to check that ?

But when it enters the "if" block, it shows the old content.

  • Php security question

    - by Camran
I have a linux server, and I am about to upload a classifieds website to it. The website is php based. That means php code adds/removes classifieds, with the help of the users offcourse. The php-code then adds/removes a classified to a database index called Solr (like MySql). Problem is that anybody can currently access the database, but I only want the website to access the database (solr). Solr is on port 8983 as standard btw. My Q is, if I add a rule in my firewall (iptables), to only allow connections coming from the servers IP to the Solr port nr, would this solve my issue? Thanks
