  • Generic JSON parser in .NET / WPF?

    I've read lots of tutorials on how to deserialize a JSON object to an object of a particular using DataContractJsonSerializer. However, I'd like to deserialize my object to a Dictionary consisting of either Strings, Arrays or Dictionaries, such as System.Json does with SilverLight when I say JsonObject.Parse(myJSONstring). Is there an equivalent to System.Json that I can use in my WPF project? (just a short background: I'm fetching JSON objects that have way to much info, and I just want to use a little bit to fill out a String array) Cheers Nik

  • Working with the IE cache from C# & WPF

    I'm writing a program in C# using the WPF framework. I need to display images, and I'd like to cache them to avoid downloading them constantly. I can code my own cache, however, IE already has a caching system. I can find code to read entries out of the IE cache, however I've found nothing dealing with the issue of adding items to the cache. Is there a good way to do it, or should I just implement a separate cache?

    I followed the advice of izx on how to install TexLive 2012 using the texlive-backports PPA. Before I started I removed all TexLive-related packages. The installation finished and everything seems to work fine. The only thing I noticed are some warnings in the output of the installer.   • input / output error, drives randomly refusing to read / write

    I have an issue with one of our servers running Ubuntu 10.04, it is running BackupPC and collects backups from various machines / servers around the building. On the 8th minute (12:08, 12:18, 12:28 etc) the backups are transferred to an external hard drive, we have three and rotate one drive for another everyday. The problem we are having is we are randomly experiencing input / output errors, when this happens you cannot read / write to the drive, it hasn't unmounted so I can cd to the mount point /media/backup1. You see we have three drives all formatted to ext2, on two of them we were getting I/O errors frequently, I cam back to Quamis' answer and discovered the fsck command, so ran it against the problems drives: fsck /dev/sdb1 This found and fixed a load of problems on the drive, most probably caused by power outages / unsafe removal of drives etc, as the drives are in the xt2 format they aren't journalled and thus aren't protected against such issues. Drives are now working beautifully, thanks all! :D

  • What is the rationale behind snazzy Window Managers/Composers?

    This is more of a generic question, based on trying out Window Managers like Awesome, Mate and others. To me looks like that other Window Managers like Gnome3 and/or Unity are heavy and pointless. I do understand that having all the composed UIs is more pleasant for the eye, but apart that, what are the other major benefits? To make an example, when I run the game Heroes of Newerth (using nVidia drivers) under: Unity : the FPS drops sharply Gnome3 : FPS is ok, but X and other processes use 15~20% of CPU and quite some additional memory Awesome : FPS is ok, and other processes use very little memory and CPU Below some numbers regarding what I'm saying (please note my system is 64 bit, AMD Phenom II X4, 8 GB RAM, nd nVidia 470 GTX, SSD disk). All data is sorted by mem usage (watch -d -n 10 "ps -e -o pcpu,pmem,pid,user,cmd --sort=-pmem | head -20"); again note that CPU time of ./hon-x86_64 might be different due to the fact I can't take the snapshot of the system during exactly same time. However, trying to rsync to a host which allows only sftp logins, but not ssh logins, provides the following error: rsync -av /source ssh user@remotehost:/target/ protocol version mismatch -- is your shell clean? (see the rsync man page for an explanation) rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at compat.c(171) [sender=3.0.6] Here's the relevant section from the rsync man page: This message is usually caused by your startup scripts or remote shell facility producing unwanted garbage on the stream that rsync is using for its transport. The way to diagnose this problem is to run your remote shell like this: ssh remotehost /bin/true > out.dat then look at out.dat. If everything is working correctly then out.dat should be a zero length file. If you are getting the above error from rsync then you will probably find that out.dat contains some text or data. Look at the contents and try to work out what is producing it. The most com- mon cause is incorrectly configured shell startup scripts (such as .cshrc or .profile) that contain output statements for non-interactive logins. Trying this on my system produced the following in out.dat: ssh-dummy-shell: Command not allowed. As I thought, the host is not allowing ssh logins. The following link shows that it is possible to accomplish this task using fuse with sshfs - however it is extremely slow, and not fit for production use.     Hi, unfortunately im REALLY stuck on this and was wondering in anyone knows how to work around this. I have some html text which i want displayed in a WPF RichTextBox. At the moment, i'm using some helper APIs found http://blogs.msdn.com/wpfsdk/archive/2006/05/25/606317.aspx to convert HTML to XAML. So at the moment i have a xaml data string, but i cant see to find a way to display this correctly within the richtextbox :s i have been trying the following: string xamlData = HTMLConverter.HtmlToXamlConverter.ConvertHtmlToXaml(sBody,true); FlowDocument result = XamlReader.Load(new System.Xml.XmlTextReader(new StringReader(xamlData))) as FlowDocument; but this is crashing on the XamlReader.. Any other way will do, i just need to display an HTML string in this RichTextBox or something else! Please Help!

    We have a Continuous Integration environment setup with TeamCity and subversion. TeamCity gets the latest source from svn and does a build (Visual Studio) on every commit. Sometimes we get the following TeamCity error when the build runs. Doing a couple of force builds gets TeamCity running succesfully.     Hi, I'm trying to Convert a Bitmap (SystemIcons.Question) to a BitmapImage so I can use it in a WPF Image control. I have the following method to convert it to a BitmapSource, but it returns an InteropBitmapImage, now the problem is how to convert it to a BitmapImage. A direct cast does not seem to work. Does anybody know how to do it?
