  • how to get rid of light desktop manager entry in ubuntu greeter

    Got "light desktop manager" entry in ubuntu greeter for some strange reason and can't get rid of it. As the current OS is Ubunu 13.10 the way to configure the lightdm greeter is rather strange, can't find any solution in greeter configs. More annoying thing is that Mr.LDM seems to have password very hard to guess so I can't login to this "account". Can you help me to find source of this problem and find the solution?

    Learn how to incorporate Custom Pricing Attributes into Landed Cost Management through a new whitepaper.  The new application, Landed Cost Management (LCM), enables exact shipment charges to be applied to incoming receipts. These charges are calculated using the Freight and Special Charges functionality from Advanced Pricing within the Pricing Transaction Entity of “Purchasing”.Advanced Pricing is very flexible in that custom attributes can be defined to derive specific charges.   • Creating a shared library that might be used with desktop applications and web projects

    I have been involved in a number of MVC.NET and c# desktop projects in our company over the last year or so while also managing to kept my nose poked into other projects (in a read-only learning capacity of course). From this I've noticed that across the various projects and teams there is a-lot of functionality that has been well designed against good interfaces and abstractions. Because we tend to like our own work at times, I noticed a couple of projects had the exact same class, method copied into it as it had obviously worked on one and so was easily moved to a new project (probably by the same developer who originally wrote it) I mentioned this fact in one of our programmer meetings we have occasionally and suggested we pull some of this functionality into a core company library that we can build up over time and use across multiple projects. Everyone agreed and I started looking into this possibility. However, I've come across a stumbling block pretty early on. Our team primarily focuses on MVC at the moment and we have projects mainly in 2.0 but are starting to branch to 3.0. We also have a number of desktop applications that might benefit from some shared classes and basic helper methods. Initially when creating this DLL I included some shared classes that could be used across any project type (Web, Client etc) but then I started looking at adding some shared modules that would be useful in our MVC applications only. However this meant I had to include a reference to some Microsoft Web DLL's in order to leverage some of the classes I was creating (at this stage MVC 2.0). Now my issue is that we have a shared DLL that has references to web specific libraries that could also possibly be used in a client application. Not only that, our DLL referenced initially MVC 2.0 and we will eventually move onto MVC 3.0 for all projects. But alot of the classes in this library I expect to still be relevant to MVC 3 etc Our code within this DLL is separated into it's own namespaces such as: CompanyDLL.Primitives CompanyDLL.Web.Mvc CompanyDLL.Helpers etc etc So, my questions are: Is it OK to do a shared library like this, or if we have web specific features in it should we create a separate web DLL only targeted at a specific framework or MVC version? If it's OK, what kind of issues might we face when using the library that references MVC 2 in a MVC 3 project for example. I would be thinking that we might run into some sort of compatibility issue, or even issues where the developers using the library doesn't realize they need MVC 2.0 libraries. They might only want to use some of the generic classes etc The concept seemed like a good idea at the time, but I'm starting to think maybe it's not really a practical solution. But the number of times I've seen copied classes and methods across projects because they are proven tested code is a bit unnerving to be perfectly honest!

  • The MDM Journey: From the Customer Perspective

    Master Data Management is more than just about a single version of  the truth or providing a 360 degree view of the customer.  It spans multiple domains ranging from customers to suppliers to products and beyond.  MDM is pivotal to providing a solid customer experience - one that results in repeat business, continued loyalty and last but not least - high customer satisfaction.  Customer experience is not only defined as accurate information about the customer for the enterprise, but also presenting the customer with the right information about products, orders, product availability, etc.   Let's take a look at a couple of customer use cases with Oracle MDM. Below is a picture from a recent customer panel: Oracle MDM is a key platform for increasing upsell/cross-sell opportunities, improve targeting of customers and uncover new sales opportunies, reduce inaccuracies in mailing marketing materials to prospects, as well as to tap into and uncover the full value of a customer across business units more accurately.  A leading investment and private bank leverages Oracle MDM to do a better job of identifying clients, their levels of investment as well as consistently manage them through a series of areas such as credit, risk, new accounts, etc. Ultimately, they are looking to understand client investments and touchpoints across the company's offerings.  Another use case for Oracle MDM is with a major financial and insurance services company with clients worldwide, looking to resolve customer data inaccuracies and client information stored differently across mulitiple systems.  For more information on Oracle Master Data Management, click here.

  • How to Add a Taskbar to the Desktop in Ubuntu 14.04

    If you’ve switched to Ubuntu from Windows, it may take some time to get used to the new and different interface. However, you can easily incorporate a familiar Windows feature, the Taskbar, into Ubuntu to make the transition easier. A tool called Tint2 provides a bar at the bottom of the Ubuntu Desktop that resembles the Windows Taskbar. We will show you how to install it and make it start every time you log into Ubuntu. NOTE: When we say to type something in this article and there are quotes around the text, DO NOT type the quotes, unless we specify otherwise. Press Ctrl + Alt + T to open a Terminal window. To install Tint2, type the following line at the prompt and press Enter. sudo apt-get install tint2 Type your password at the prompt and press Enter. The progress of the installation displays and then a message displays saying how much disk space will be used. When asked if you want to continue, type a “y” and press Enter. When the installation has finished, close the Terminal window by typing “exit” at the prompt and pressing Enter. Click the Search button at the top of the Unity bar. Start typing “startup applications” in the Search box. Items that match what you type start displaying below the Search box. When the Startup Applications tool displays, click the icon to open it. On the Startup Applications Preferences window, click Add. On the Add Startup Program dialog box, enter a name for the startup application. This name displays in the list on the Startup Applications Preferences window. Type “tint2” in the Command edit box, enter a description in the Comment edit box, if desired, and click Add. Tint2 is added as a startup program and will start every time you log into Ubuntu. Click Close to close the Startup Applications Preferences window. Log out and log back in to make the Taskbar available on the desktop. You do not need to reboot the computer for this change to take effect. Now, when you minimize a program, an icon for it displays on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen, just like the Taskbar in Windows. If you decide that you don’t want the Taskbar to display every time you log into Ubuntu, you can uncheck the Tint2 startup program on the Startup Applications Preferences window. You don’t need to delete it from the list.

  • Unity bar only shown in Desktop - Alt+Tab doesn't show anything

    I've experienced something weird with Unity and that is that sometimes the Alt+Tab switcher stops showing (yes, only showing because I can still to blind switch between applications), and the left unity bar is only shown on the desktop. I might think that it's compiz, but the rest of the effects are ok :S I don't have the exact sequence to repeat this error, it seems to be random :S Do you know what could it be?

  • Enable Configurator for Return Orders

    With release 12.2.4 for non-referenced RMAs, Order Management will allow you to configure the model from Sales Order / Quick Sales Order windows. This is only allowable when profile  OM: Enable Configuration UI for RMA is set to Yes.  All selected options must be returnable, as well as all included items. Order Management explodes included items and creates options and option classes in a way similar to outbound orders. The application creates all selected components with same line number but different option/component number.  Additionally, the application does not allow re-configuration and/or deletion of any line if any line in the same configuration is received, fulfilled, closed, cancelled, or split.   • Alert: It is No Longer 1982, So Why is CRM Still There?

    Hot off the heels of Oracle’s recent LinkedIn integration announcement and Oracle Marketing Cloud Interact 2014, the Oracle Social Cloud is preparing for another big event, the CRM Evolution conference and exhibition in NYC. The role of social channels in customer engagement continues to grow, and social customer engagement will be a significant theme at the conference. According to Paul Greenberg, CRM Evolution Conference Chair, author, and Managing Principal at The 56 Group, social channels have become so pervasive that there is no longer a clear reason to make a distinction between “social CRM” and traditional CRM systems. Why not? Because social is a communication hub every bit as vital and used as the phone or email. What makes social different is that if you think of it as a phone, it’s a party line. That means customer interactions are far from secret, and social connections are listening in by the hundreds, hearing whether their friend is having a positive or negative experience with your brand. According to a Mention.com study, 76% of brand mentions are neutral, neither positive nor negative. These mentions fail to get much notice. So think what that means about the remaining 24% of mentions. They’re standing out, because a verdict, about you, is being rendered in them, usually with emotion. Suddenly, where the R of CRM has been lip service and somewhat expendable in the past, “relationship” takes on new meaning, seriousness, and urgency. Remarkably, legions of brands still approach CRM as if it were 1982. Today, brands must provide customer experiences the customer actually likes (how dare they expect such things). They must intimately know not only their customers, but each customer, because technology now makes personalized experiences possible. That’s why the Oracle Social Cloud has been so mission-oriented about seamlessly integrating social with sales, marketing and customer service interactions so the enterprise can have an actionable 360-degree view of the customer. It’s the key to that customer-centricity we hear so much about these days.   • Cannot remove AWN and desktop messed up

    I recently installed AWN after reading an article on OMGUbuntu. It looked very good in the pictures but I didnt like it at all. I couldent remove it and it replaced the status bar and the Applications menu. I went into the settings and told it to not begin on startup, rebooted, and logged into a destop with no menu bar, applications, and I'm limited to a few folders on my desktop and terminal. PLEASE HELP!!
