  I am using Symfony 1.3.2 on Ubuntu. I have written a little helper function (statsfoo) that prints out summary statistics about an item. • Wordpress: Not able to retrieve css for new plugin in admin mode

  I'm creating a new plugin which will have it's own css file. The css file resides in the root folder of the plugin. In the plugin section of the admin interface, I have added a few text fields fields. But the CSS is not applied. I'm adding the CSS file using this code: // Register styling add_action('admin_init', 'event_styles'); function event_styles() { wp_register_style('event_cal', plugins_url('eventcall.css',__FILE__)); wp_enqueue_style('event_cal'); } The following code gives me the CSS path: echo plugins_url('eventcall.css',__FILE__); and outputs http://mysite.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-eventcal/eventcall.css If I try to enter this URL directly in the browser, it only shows me the front page. And if I look in the source code using Firebug, where the link to the CSS should be, I only find the entire HTML code for the front page. Am I using wrong code to use backend in admin interface? I want to create a query that returns results where any values in the ID fields overlap with any values in the array.   I know it's really a subjective question, but for best-practices (and readability), I can't seem to get a fix on the best way to format long strings of HTML. I typically do it like this: echo ' <div> <p>Content Inside</p> <div class="subbox"> <ul> <li>etc.</li> <li>etc.</li> <li>etc.</li> <li>etc.</li> </ul> </div> </div> '; But I still don't like the outcome, especially if this appears in the middle of a large block of code. It just feels messy.

• Get only new RSS entries with PHP Script ?

  What im trying to do: Fetch X numbers of RSS Feeds from my Blogs and echo only new entries. My Problem is, how to know wich items are already parsed? Solution so far: Fetch the Feed every 5 hours, store all titles inside an Database table or flat file. Next run check if the title is already in database if not print it and save it inside the database. But iam not sure if this is best practise to do this? If someone knows a fast way, it would be great. Sorry for my poor english.

• Unable to open a file for writing

  I am trying to write to a file. I do a file_exists check on it before I do fopen and it returns true (the file does exist). However, the file fails this code and gives me the error every time: $handle = fopen($filename, 'w'); if($handle) { flock($handle, LOCK_EX); fwrite($handle, $contents); } else { echo 'ERROR: Unable to open the file for writing.',PHP_EOL; exit(); } flock($handle, LOCK_UN); fclose($handle); Is there a way I can get more specific error details as to why this file does not let me open it for writing? I know that the filename is legit, but for some reason it just wont let me write to it. I do have write permissions, I was able to write and write over another file.

  I know that playing with php float can give strange results if you try to add "goats + apples", but please take a look to the following case: $val = 1232.81; $p1 = 1217.16; $p2 = 15.65; $sum = $p1 + $p2; $dif = $val - $sum; echo $dif; It will give you -2.2737367544323E-13 ... yeah, ALMOST zero, but then why it doesn't say 0 ? This freaks me out big time. Please, I need some valid explanation.

  So, I have a file called 'dummy' which contains the string: "There is 100% packet loss at node 1". I also have a small script that I want to use to grab the percentage from this file. But for some reason, it just prints out a blank string. Can anyone help me?

  I've been trying to compare the output of a program to known correct output by using a bash script without piping the output of the program to a file and then using diff on the output file and a correct output file. I've tried setting the variables to the output and correct output and I believe it's been successful but I can't get the string comparison to work correctly. I may be wrong about the variable setting so it could be that.   I have created a theme where I already have a custom options page where I let the user set text for footer, twitter user and some other things and that works well. Now i'd like to add the functionality of letting the user select which font that should be used for content on the site. How can i accomplish this? I can probably create a php file that outputs something like: <style type="text/css"> body{ font-family: <?php echo get_option('my-font');?>; } </style> and include that file in header.php, but that means that I have to hit php for every request for this css and I want to avoid that if posssible.

  Hello, I want to pass an environment variable in linux to apache on start up. export MYVAR=5 --I define my environment variable on the command line PassEnv MYVAR --set apache to import the variable in apache config file apachectl restart --when I restart apache I don't get an error message. However I have noticed that if I do not create the environment variable in my first step, I get a warning message, so must be working here echo $_SERVER['MYVAR'] --i try to access the environment variable within PHP but it is not defined I've observed that if I try to PassEnv an environment variable that already exits (one that I havn't created myself) it works fine. The SetEnv directive also works fine. I'd really like to pass an environment variable to apache on the fly without writing it in a file. Help much appreciated. I'm using CentOS, PHP5 and Apache2.   Hi to all. Can anyone help me return the correct value from a bash script function? Here's my function that should return first (and only) line of the file passed as an argument: LOG_FILE_CREATION_TIME() { return_value=`awk 'NR==1' $1` return return_value } And here's my call of that function in the other script: LOG_FILE_CREATION_TIME "logfile" timestamp=$? echo "Timestamp = $timestamp" I always get some random values with this code. If, for example, there's a value of 62772031 in the "logfile", I get Timestamp = 255 as an output. For some other values in the file, I get other random values as a return value, never the correct one. Any ideas?

• Using md5_file(); doesn't return the md5 sometimes?
