  • C, Cygwin, and compiling drand and srand

    Hello, I have a C code which I am trying to compile in Cygwin and which contains both the drand() and srand() functions. I had Windows Vista with Cygwin installed and the code seemed to comile fine, but my computer broke and I had to get a new one. The new computer has Windows 7 64-bit version. I had a few issues downloading Cygwin but finally managed to do it by only selecting a few packages and then have been trying to get the rest that I need. The problem is I don't have the help I had installing it on my other computer so I don't know which packages I actually need, so I have just been guessing (all the gcc ones) but I mustn't have the one I need for srand and drand to work. If anyone could point me in the right direction, and also possibly just let me know which packages I need to compile C so I can check I have them all that would be great.     I need to implement a web app, but instead of using relational database I need to use different SOAP Web Services as a back-end. An important part of application only calls web services and displays the result. Since Web Services are clearly defined in form of Operation: In parameters and Return Type it seems to me that basic GUI could be easily constructed just like in the case of scaffolding based on Domain Entities. For example in case of SearchProducts web service operation I need to enter search parameters as input, so the search page can be constructed. Operation will return a list of products, so I need a page that will display this list in some kind of table. Is there already some library in grails that let you achieve this. If not, how would you go about creating one?

    My university is holding a quiz contest in 2 weeks, and I need some sort of software (desktop or web based) that can be used to manage the quiz. I need functionality like an admin panel for adding teams, creating matches between 2 teams, adding questions and answers. I then need the software to automatically display the questions, accept answers, and display and store results. Is there any software (open source/freeware) that I can use for this task. If a pre-built software is not available, which language+library+platform would you suggest I make the software in. It can be either web based or a desktop app. But I need it by 2 weeks.   • What's a good pure-python, document-based and flat-file database engine?

    Hi, for development i'd love to have a flat file database with the requirements up in the title, but I don't seem to be able to find a database with these requirements. I can't seem to get MetaKit to work. I only need it to work on the development machine, but in the real world my product will have more data and needs more room and will need something better. Does anyone know of a database engine capable of this or do I need to just use python's pickle and load and save a file? Joe

  • Recieving server broadcast on mobile in real time

    I have to write a simple mobile application that is able to recieve broadcast from a server, connected using GPRS, over a secure SSL connection. The amount of data mobile need to recieve is very small (about 100 character string for a single broadcast and maximum 10 broadcast per minute) I need to display it on screen and generate a alert sound (and vibrate the device). Client need not to send anything back to server. (ofcourse at the time of intialization the client app need to send some data for authorization) The target mobile plateform is symbion S60 and Blackberry. How can i do this? What tools, SDK and Third party framework (if needed) i should use? I am familier with java and network programming but not for mobile device.

  • How do I compile Android Browser (or other android-supplied applications)

    I want to add support for Arabic (or other languages which are currently unsupported) to the applications supplied by android platform (e.g. Browser) without having root-access. To add Arabic support (at least displaying only) in a normal application (using developer SDK), I will need to: Add fonts Modify (reshape) the characters to be rendered For illustration, if I have string a aaa, I will need to change a aaa into a bcd because letter a at the beginning, middle, and end of a word need to be changed to b,c and d respectively) But now I want to compile android's Browser (and other apps). I am planning to get the source codes for these applications and their dependencies and bundle them as stand-alone applications which do not require root-access, and thus do not void the warranty. Other solutions which void the warranty can be obtained here. My Questions: Is the application's (e.g. Browser's) source code + 'developer SDK' enough to accomplish this? Do I need to get the source code + the development environment for the android platform? Any tips?

I found DrawText and TextOut functions, but the text they show is flickering and don't know how to set the font and text orientation (I will need vertical text orientation as well as horizontal).     I am importing data from excel(.xls) to SQL Server 2008 using SSIS. I have included IMEX=1 in the connection string of excel connection manager. Hours exceeding allocation billed @ 1.5x hourly rate w/ 8-hr min Engr Dispatch: NBD to dispatch from Ciena's determination of need Per Incident On Site Support ASPP Engr Dispatch 12: Up to 12 dispatch (96 hours) per year. Hours exceeding allocation billed @ 1.5x hourly rate w/ 8-hr min Engr Dispatch: Next day to arrive on-site from Ciena's determination of need Resident Engineer Engr Dispatch: 2-hrs to arrive on-site from Ciena's determination of need Engr Dispatch: 4-hrs to arrive on-site from Ciena's determination of need ASPP Engr Dispatch 2: Up to 2 dispatch (16 hours) per year.     Hi I need to verify in my WPF application if the user log in to his computer via password or via smart-card. Both login options are available in my company clients but my application need to open only in the smart-card login. All the clients are windows 7 OS. If the EKU is empty = then the user was loged via password and not via smartcard. I only need this simple check, I do not care for creating/validations on certificates atc.
