• Navigating cursor rows in SQLite

  Hi there, I am trying to understand how the following builtin functions work when sequentially processing cursor rows. The descriptions come from the Python 3.1 manual (using SQLite3) Cursor.fetchone() Fetches the next row of a query result set, returning a single sequence. Cursor.fetchmany() Fetches the next set of rows of a query result, returning a list. Cursor.fetchall() Fetches all (remaining) rows of a query result, returning a list. So if I have a loop in which I am processing one row at a time using cursor.fetchone(), and some later code requires that I return to the first row, or fetch all rows using fetchall(), how do I do it? The concept is a bit strange to me, especially coming from a Foxpro background which has the concept of a record pointer which can be moved to the 1st or last row in a cursor (go top/bottom), or go to the nth row (go n) Any help would be appreciated. • C#, WindowsForms difference to simple Console App

  Hi there, I currently started to "port" my console projects to WinForms, but it seems I am badly failing doing that. I am simply used to a console structure: I got my classes interacting with each other depending on the input coming from the console. A simple flow: Input -> ProcessInput -> Execute -> Output -> wait for input Now I got this big Form1.cs (etc.) and the "Application.Run(Form1);" But I really got no clue how my classes can interact with the form and create a flow like I described above. I mean, I just have these "...._Click(object sender....)" for each "item" inside the form. Now I do not know where to place / start my flow / loop, and how my classes can interact with the form. thanks and regards daemonfire

• ldapsearch and vcard creation

  I'm using openldap on Mac OS X Server 10.6 and need to generate a vcard for all the users in a given group. By using the ldapsearch I can list all the memberUid's for all users in that group. I found a perl script (Advanced LDAP Search or ALS) that was written by someone that will generate the vcard easily. ALS can be found here http://www.ldapman.org/tools/als.gz So what I need to do is create a wrapper script (in python or perl) that will effectively loop through the memberUid's and run the ALS command to create the vcard and append it to the file. This command provides the memberUid's: ldapsearch -x -b 'dc=ldap,dc=server,dc=com' '(cn=testgroup)' Then running ALS gives the vcard: als -b dc=ldap,dc=server,dc=com -V uid=aaronh > vcardlist.vcf If it's easier to do this using Perl since ALS is already using it that would be fine.   I have 2 lists: one of type A and one of type Aa. type Aa is inherited from type A. So: List<A> listA = new List<A>(); List<Aa> listAa = new List<Aa>(); with class Aa : A I have: public property Lists<A> { get { List<A> newList = new List<A>(); //return concat of both lists foreach(List l in listA) { newList.Add(l); } foreach(List l in listAa) { newList.Add(l); } } Can I somehow use Concat instead of the foreach loop? i.e. get { return listA.Concat(listAa); } // this doesn't work And secondly, how do I do the set part of the property? set { //figure out the type of variable value and put into appropriate list? }

  In .NET C#4.0 with the .NET Chart control I have this code to generate a pie chart: chart.Series[0].ChartType = SeriesChartType.Pie; foreach (Order order in orderCollection) { // If I set point.LegendText = order.UserName, .Group will erase it chart.Series[0].Points.AddXY(order.UserName, order.Total); } chart.DataManipulator.Sort(PointSortOrder.Ascending, "X", "Series1"); chart.DataManipulator.Group("SUM", 1, IntervalType.Months, "Series1"); This works well, it generates a pie chart with the top 10 users showing their total order sum. I would like to set the DataPoints' legendtext to the order.UserName property. The problem is, DataManipulator.Group overwrites the series DataPoints. So if I set the legendtext in the foreach loop, they will be erased after the Group call. And after the Group call, I don't see a way to retrieve the correct UserName for a DataPoint to set the legendtext. What is the best approach for this situation?

• Preload *.wav with SystemSoundID?

  I am playing a wav file to give a little audio feedback when a button in my UI is pressed. My question is when you first press the button there is a delay (about 1.5secs) whilst the sound file "sound.wav" is loaded and cached. Is there a way to pre-cache this file (maybe in my viewDidLoad)? I guess I could do it by just playing it a viewDidLoad, but would really need to disable the audio so it does not "beeb" each time the app starts. many thanks for and help. gary EDIT: Looks like my question is a duplicate of this post unless anyone has any new info? Maybe a way to turn the play volume down temporarily, unless the audio is cleared each time through the run loop.

The number of instances of "(lion)" that should be in the cookie is determined by the "qty" GET parameter's value. So for example if the pages url is: http://site.com/script.php?qty=10 then the value of the cookie should be: (lion)(lion)(lion)(lion)(lion)(lion)(lion)(lion)(lion)(lion) but now it just sets the value once despite the setcookie function being inside the loop, why isn't it working?

  I have several WCF services which use castle windsor to resolve their dependencies. Now I need some of these services to talk to each other. The typical structure is service -- Business Logic -- DAL The calls to the other services need to occur at Business Logic level. What is the best approach for implementing this? Should I simply inject a service proxy into the business logic? Is this wasteful if for example, only one of two method from my service need to use this proxy? What if the services need to talk to each other? - Will castle windsor get stuck in a loop trying to resolve each services dependencies?

  In my python script, I need to call within a for loop an executable, and waiting for that executable to write the result on the "output.xml". How do I manage to use wait() & how do I know when one of my executable is finished generating the result to get the result? • Prototype to JQuery - how to access originator of event

  Hi there I'm coming from a Prototype background and looking into JQuery. I'd like to know the 'right' way to do attach a click event to a bunch of elements, but then know in the event handler which one of my elements was clicked. I've come up with the following: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.attachImgHandlers = function () { $j(".carouselItem").bind("click", this, function(e){ e.data.openCarouselImage(e) }); } I then have the following in my event handler: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.openCarouselImage = function(e) { var img = e.currentTarget; // Do stuff to the image element }; Is this 'right'? It feels wrong to me as I am used to explicitly passing the element to the event handler in Prototype as I loop through an array of elements. Thanks in advance.

• CakePHP 1.3 Plugin Shortcut Route

  Hi, I searched a lot around the web but I couldn't find any specific sollution to this. In CakePHP 1.3, different from 1.2, if you had a controller inside a plugin, and both had the same name, you could access through "<plugin>/<action>", and it would call the 'default' controller. But in 1.3, according to this: http://cakeqs.org/eng/questions/view/setting_up_magic_routes_for_plugins_in_cakephp_1_3 It was removed, and only the 'index' action in the default plugin controller can be accessed this way. I thought about adding extra code in my routes.php file, and loop through all the plugins in my app, making such routes for every action in the controllers named after the plugin, but it doesn't seem like it's the right thing to do... any other suggestions to make this work in 1.3? or at least some very specific code documentation of this particular change? I've already read something in the 1.3.0-RC4 annoucement, but it was not clear enough.. thanks

  I have created an ASP.NET application which creates threads in an infinite loop. I set maxWorkerThreads to 20 in processModel in machine.config. When I checked the Thread count in perfmon there was around 7000 threads created in worker process. • jQuery slide up/down on hover bug

  Hi! I have one large div with one smaller div inside it. The smaller div is at first displayed as hidden. When the user hovers the mouse over the large container-div the smaller div is animated in with the show/hide-functions. So far everything works fine. However. The smaller div is animated in from the bottom - so if I let the cursor hover over the container at the very bottom, it's hovering over the animation of the smaller div while it's sliding in. So now the cursor is hovering over the smaller div instead of the larger div, and thus triggering the hide-function on the smaller div. This creates an infinite loop of show/hide calls as the smaller div slides in and out of where the cursor is pointing. Any ideas how to avoid this and not break the hovering on the container as the smaller div enters?

• Custom field not showing in Custom Content Type

  Hi all: I created a custom column in a custom content type in a Sharepoint Web manually (e.g. /MySite/MyWeb). I now want to programmatically copy this content type across to another web (e.g. /MySite/MyWeb2). However, upon looping through the custom content type in code, I could only find 2 fields: Content Type and Title (expected: Title and custom column). The custom column was missing. I'm very sure that the content type and field are added at the web level. The custom content type is inherited from Item. When I loop through the web's fields, I can see the custom column, and that was copied to the new web. It is only within the content type that the custom column is not showing up. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

  Hi, I am wanting to create a Where statement within my Linq statement, but have hit a bit of a stumbling block. I would like to split a string value, and then search using each array item in the Where clause. In my normal Sql statement I would simply loop through the string array, and build up there Where clause then either pass this to a stored procedure, or just execute the sql string. It should report the number of rows with the same values for (green.h.0, green.v.0, and offset.0) by only looking at the previous rows. The example above uses the expected values, but assume they are incorrect. How can I add a new column (say "count") which will count all previous rows which have the same values of the specified variables? I have gotten help on a similar problem of just selecting all rows with the same values for specified columns, so I supposed I could just write a loop around that, but it seems inefficient to me.

My problem is that when I save the resized image it is of good quality, but if I echo it to the browser it is of poor quality and the animation is removed.   While implementing a FIFO I have used the following structure: struct Node { T info_; Node* link_; Node(T info, Node* link=0): info_(info), link_(link) {} }; I think this a well known trick for lots of STL containers (for example for List). Is this a good practice? What it means for compiler when you say that Node has a member with a type of it's pointer? Is this a kind of infinite loop? And finally, if this is a bad practice, how I could implement a better FIFO. EDIT: People, this is all about implemenation. I am enough familiar with STL library, and know a plenty of containers from several libraries. Just I want to discuss with people who can gave a good implementation or a good advice.

• Delphi VirtualStringTree - Check for Duplicates?

  Hello S.O! Yeah, I know I post a lot of questions, but thats because I either need assurance that I am doing it right, what I am doing wrong, or if I am totally clueless, and cant find anything in the documentation. Anyways, I am trying to check for duplicate nodes. Here is how I would want to do it: Loop thru my nodes, and compare each single node's text (record), but if I got many nodes, wouldnt that be too time and memory consuming?
