  • Why doesn't compiz show the outline when I use the grid?

    When I drag windows, instead of getting an outline like I would on a clean install, I get nothing, so I don't know what function the plugin will use before releasing the mouse, other than what I guess it will do. Is there something known to cause this to happen, and what can I do to get back the outline? (NB: I have the outline enabled in the plugin settings, so please do not ask me to enable it :D (lol)!) EDIT: Now I have reinstalled the compiz plugins cleanly and still noting :(. What can I do?

  • Can't remove Enter_Frame and stop TimerEvent

    I wanted to remove an ENTER_FRAME object and stopping an TimerEvent when I click on a button, and rerun ENTER_FRAME and TimerEvent when I click on another button. I've tried removeAddEventListener and stop() for the time, but I won't work.     If you’ve actually used the internet before, you’ve probably come across a page with an auto-playing YouTube clip, and chances are good it was a rather annoying one. Here’s how to stop them from starting automatically in Chrome. We’ve already told you how to stop them from automatically playing if you’re a Firefox user (best answer: use Flashblock!), but now it’s time for Chrome users to get their turn. Use the Stop Autoplay for YouTube Extension The great thing about this extension is that it stops the video from playing, but it allows it to continue buffering, so when you do feel like playing the video, it’ll already be downloaded—really useful for people with slower internet connections. There’s no UI or anything fancy, just head to the extension page and click the Install button. If you want to get rid of it later, use the Tools –> Extensions menu (or you can type chrome://extensions/ into your address bar), and then click the Uninstall link for that add-on.   Download Stop Autoplay for YouTube [Google Chrome Extensions] Using FlashBlock for Chrome If you really wanted to, you could just disable Flash across the board using FlashBlock for Chrome.   • Will small random dynamic snippets break caching

    I am busy writing a WordPress plugin. Now most users have cache plugins installed, they cache the pages. I know also some webservers as nginx have php caching and whatnot. There are also things like memcached. Now I have to admit I do not know exactly how they work, if anyone have some good links on how they work I would be glad. Some links where it's explained simple, not to technical. Now the question. My plugin displays different statistics on posts, they are always different, will this break the caching of the page. To take is a step further, sometimes the statistics of the post needs updating, and there is a small javascript snippet added to the page. Now will these two action result in the page not caching, or am I ok.

    To proceed with the installation of Wordpress on SQL Server and IIS, first of all, you need to do the following steps Create a database on SQL Server that will be used by Wordpress Create login that can access to the just created database and put the user into ddladmin, db_datareader, db_datawriter roles Download and unpack Wordpress 3.3.2 (latest version as of 27 May 2012) zip file into a directory of your choice Download the wp-db-abstraction 1.1.4 (latest version as of 27 May 2012) plugin from wordpress.org website Now that the basic action has been done, you can start to setup and configure your Wordpress installation. Unpack and follow the instructions in the README.TXT file to install the Database Abstraction Layer. Mainly you have to: Upload wp-db-abstraction.php and the wp-db-abstraction directory to wp-content/mu-plugins.  This should be parallel to your regular plugins directory.  If the mu-plugins directory does not exist, you must create it. Put the db.php file from inside the wp-db-abstraction.php directory to wp-content/db.php Now you can create an application pool in IIS like the following one Create a website, using the above Application Pool, that points to the folder where you unpacked Wordpress files. Be sure to give the “Write” permission to the IIS account, as pointed out in this (old, but still quite valid) installation manual: http://wordpress.visitmix.com/development/installing-wordpress-on-sql-server#iis Now you’re ready to go. Point your browser to the configured website and the Wordpress installation screen will be there for you. When you’re requested to enter information to connect to MySQL database, simply skip that page, leaving the default values. If you have installed the Database Abstraction Layer, another database installation screen will appear after the one used by MySQL, and here you can enter the configuration information needed to connect to SQL Server.   • Why Adobe Air is so underrated for building mobile apps?

    I worked with Adobe Flash related technologies for the last 5 years, although not being a big fan of Adobe. I see some little bugs happening in some apps, but I cannot imagine why a lot of big companies do not even think to use use Adobe Air as a good technology for their mobile apps. I see a lot of mobile developer positions asking for experts in Android or iOS , but very much less positions asking for Adobe Air, even when Adobe Air apps have the advantage of being multi-plataform, with the same app working in Blackberry, iOS and Android. Is so much easier to develop a game using Flash, than using Android SDK, for example. It really have flaws (that I never saw) or it is just some kind of mass prejudgement? I also would like to hear what a project manager or a indie developer takes when choosing a plataform for building apps.

  • Ubuntu server 13 hangs on boot

    I formatted my WD30EFRX 3TB SATA HDD as GPT with the following layout: 200 MB FAT32 (BOOTABLE) 50GB EXT4 (Mount point: /) 4 GB SWAP SPACE ~2.9 TB EXT4 (with no mount point) Then i created a Flash USB using Rufus 1.3.3 and the following ISO-image: ubuntu-13.04-server-amd64.iso. I used following configuration to create the USB: GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer FAT32 (16KB) I successfully booted from this USB on my Intel D510MO motherboard in UEFI mode (there were a black and white boot loader menu instead of a colorful GUI) and installed the OS. During the boot loader installation i saw it was grub-efi-amd64 as it must be. After installation i removed the flash drive and tried to boot the system, but just after a BIOS POST it hangs (there is a white blinking cursor at the left top corner of the black screen) and nothing happens. UEFI Mode is enabled in the BIOS configuration and i've updated the BIOS to the latest firmware. What went wrong, how i can confirm that system was installed properly? How can i boot the OS?

    I am aware of the fact that TFS 2010 ultimate edition can create and validate architecture diagrams. For example, I can create a new modeling project add Layer Diagram Add Layer called View Add BL Layer Add DL layer. Then I can validate this architecture as part of the build process when someone tries to check code into TFS. In other words, if the View references the DL then the compilation process will fail and the checkin will not be allowed. For those without an MSDN ultimate license, can FxCop or some 3rd party utility be used to validate architecture in an automated fashion? I prefer a TFS install-able plugin, but a local VS plugin will do.

But it needs a lot of custom programming (and has a very strange voucher-system). Customer has to add the File into the basket and add the voucher at checkout. I want to skip that ;) Is there a Webshop (Or CMS + Plugin) which provides the things I need?   • Keyboard freezes when xorg crashes.

    Situation is like that. Many times has happened that Xorg freezes and with it also keyboard. Quite some times because of some Compiz effects or Flash (fullscreen switch). Keyboard becomes totaly unresponsive, while mouse still works (I can move cursor, but can't click since desktop freezes) and music still plays and I can connect trough ssh. This is the only way I know I can try to solve problem - either by killing browser&flash or lastly restarting xorg server. This problem appears on more than one Ubuntu computer. My home dekstop with proprietery nvidia driver, on my work where I use noveau driever (opensource driver for geforce) and sometimes (but rarely) also on laptop with ATI graphics (using r300g driver which is really good!). Can someone explains why mouse still works while I can't input from keyboard? (I can't switch to virtual console or do R-E-I-S-U-B command) I have USB keyboard and USB mouse.

I know that it is not a perfect replacement for ram and it is not advisable for longterm use. Is creating swap file in a usb flash drive similar to it? Will it demonstrate performance gains over a swap file in a Hard Disk Drive?

  • How can I play AMR files in Firefox on Ubuntu?

    I use Evernote to keep voice and text notes. Unfortunately, I've just discovered that I can't take full advantage of the cloud storage capabilities of Evernote, because support for Android's native sound file format, AMR, is deficient in Ubuntu. When I view my voice notes in Firefox in Ubuntu, I get a "missing plugin" error. The problem is discussed on the Evernote forums, but the solutions offered there are really lacking. They all involve saving and converting files, which seems like an unreasonable amount of fiddling. Surely an AMR file is just a sound file, and surely Ubuntu could (and should) have a way of playing it? There is some suggestion that Media Player can play AMR format, and I thought there was a Media Player plugin for Firefox. But I can not find any specifics. How can I get Ubuntu to play AMR file directly in Firefox in Ubuntu?

    I am trying to install linux on my laptop, a Toshiba Satellite C6550-S5200. I did it once but something happened so I removed it then I had to destroy all data on hard drive so now I have nothing on it. Well I got a iso file burned to a CD and to a flash drive. With the flash drive I get. SYSLINUX 4.06 EDD 4.06-pre7 Copyright (C) 1994-2012 H. Peter Anvin et al With the CD it will start booting it but somewhere loading it up, the dots turn all orange and stay that way and my CD drive turns quiet. Oh and some more info the images work because I tried loading them up on another pc and it worked just fine.

For example, thanks to its out of the box support, NetBeans IDE doesn't need a Maven plugin and it doesn't need a Java EE plugin, which are two of the most popular plugins for Eclipse. However, what would be great for NetBeans IDE to have is support for Android. It's existed for a while, thanks to the community-driven NBAndroid project, but without much desired GUI functionality.     In NetBeans IDE 7.2, JaCoCo is supported natively, i.e., out of the box, as a code coverage engine for Maven projects, since Cobertura does not work with JDK 7 language constructs. (Although, note that Cobertura is supported as well in NetBeans IDE 7.2.) It isn't part of NetBeans IDE 7.2 Beta, so don't even try there; you need some development build from after that. I downloaded the latest development build today. To enable JaCoCo features in NetBeans IDE, you need do no different to what you'd do when enabling JaCoCo in Maven itself, which is rather wonderful.   • Boot Ubuntu from a bootable USB hangs on purple screen

    I recently bought a laptop (Lenovo Y410P) with Windows 8 pre-installed and I'm trying to dual boot Windows 8 and Ubuntu 13.0. I created a bootable usb using Pendrive. Then I changed the Boot Mode to Legacy Support and the boot order so it boots from the flash storage first. When I restarted the computer, I got the error message "SYSLINUX 4.06 EDD 2012-10-23 Copyright (c) 1994-2012 H. Peter Anvin et al" and it just hung there. Fair enough. After some googling I formatted my flash drive in FAT format instead of FAT32. The "SYSLINUX..." error message is gone but now it hangs on a purple screen http://imgur.com/WbdXpZN Does anyone have a suggestion what to do here? I've looked at various posts but none of them seems to have a solution that the author confirmed it worked.

It will react same for future version as 2012, 2013. Now see your VS react look dark. Everything is dark now. Your Firefox and IE will not run totally in blackish mode but you can use chrome. Chrome have less effect of dark. Now if you benchmark it then you will feel that everything that take a long time in loading now run fast.   Note :- This is experiments.     I'm having trouble with the Unity / OUYA plugin. I'm using Unity 4 with the latest update on a Windows 7 machine. When I open the starter kit and try to compile the plugin I get the following error: Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M And if I try to Build and Run I get this error: Error building Player: ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path. I'm stumped, I've gone through lots of forum posts here and on stackoverflow and I can't seem to resolve it.
