  • Invoices for Printing in MS-Access

    - by Nitrodist
    The application that I'm currently working on has a funky set up for the invoices that they print. The form is the invoice that is printed out. I took a look at the Northwind DB and what it does is and it actually generates a report based on the record's information. What are the limitations of using Forms vs. Reports for printing out reports? One of the limitations that I've run into so far is that the printed page is jam packed with information (all required) to fit on a single page, yet there is lots of wasted space for some stuff since elements on the page don't shrink or grow due to what's inputted into the textboxes. How are invoices designed for your applications? How do you handle space restraints for creating invoices?

  • Memory consumption of resource manager

    - by Quang Anh
    I'm writing a resource manager, which is required to be fast and has small memory foot-print. For example, I have an resource class class Abc { string m_name; string m_path; string handle; void SomeFunctions(); } And so on. Now I create and List and add 5000 items to it. How much memory will it consume? One more question: Can I find items base on handle number only, which is the int part of the Tuple?

  • What is the advantage of using static methods in Python?

    - by Curious2learn
    I ran into unbound method error in python with the code class Sample(object): '''This class defines various methods related to the sample''' def drawSample(samplesize,List): sample=random.sample(List,samplesize) return sample Choices=range(100) print Sample.drawSample(5,Choices) After reading many helpful posts here, I figured how I could add @staticmethod above to get the code working. I am python newbie. Can someone please explain why one would want to define static methods? Or, why are not all methods defined as static methods. Thanks in advance.

  • format specifier for short integer

    - by cateof
    I don't use correctly the format specifiers in C. A few lines of code: int main() { char dest[]="stack"; unsigned short val = 500; char c = 'a'; char* final = (char*) malloc(strlen(dest) + 6); snprintf(final, strlen(dest)+6, "%c%c%hd%c%c%s", c, c, val, c, c, dest); printf("%s\n", final); return 0; } I want my executable to print aa500aastack and not aa500aasta Why I am loosing 2 byte? What is the correct format specifier for an unsighed short integer? thanks.

  • Formula to draw pyramid of circles

    - by terence6
    I'm trying to create a pyramid of circles to my game, looking similar to this : But I can't make it print properly. Constantly I'm getting really strange spirals but nothing close to this. Can anyone give me some tip on proper formula ? My window is 600x600, base of pyramid is 8 . fields = new Field[BASE*(BASE/2)+4]; int line_count = BASE; int line_tmp = line_count; for(int i=0; i< fields.length; i++){ for( int j=line_tmp; j <= line_count; j++){ fields[i] = new Field(0, (150+(line_tmp*5)),(600+line_tmp*5)); } line_count--; line_tmp = line_count; }

  • How to get the answers version and use it in IF loop

    - by sai
    delimiter // DROP PROCEDURE `getData`// CREATE DEFINER=`root`@`localhost` PROCEDURE `getData`(IN templateName VARCHAR(45),IN templateVersion VARCHAR(45),IN userId VARCHAR(45)) BEGIN set @version = CONCAT("SELECT `saveOEMsData_answersVersion` FROM `saveOEMsData` WHERE `saveOEMsData_templateName` = '",templateName,"' AND `saveOEMsData_templateVersion` = ",templateVersion," AND `saveOEMsData_userId`= ",userId); PREPARE s1 from @version; EXECUTE S1; END // delimiter ; I am retreiving saveOEMsData_answersVersion, but I have to use it in an IF loop, as in if the version == 1, then I would use a query, else I would use something else. But I am not able to use the version. Could someone help with this?? I am only able to print but not able to use the version.

  • Referencing Excel Sheets with JET Driver Sheets Are Duplicated with Underscores

    - by MasterMax1313
    I'm referencing an excel document with the JET database driver, which was working just fine until one day the application failed. Upon further investigation I noticed that the tabs were duplicated in some instances (all tabs actually) - i.e. Tab1$ and Tab1$_. I've researched this issue and found that it is caused by the user applying a filter. Now the filters have been removed, no special formatting, frozen panes, or print formats, but still I have these tabs duplicated. Normally I'd code around this, but since we're in a code freeze I need to come up with an Excel based solution. I want to get rid of those crazy underscored tab names / reverences. I could probably run a program to clean up the file if necessary, to send it back to the users, but I want to explore Excel options first. Thoughts? I have Excel 2010, and access to any other version as well.

  • Manipulating binary data in Python

    - by Dominic Bou-Samra
    I am opening up a binary file like so: file = open("test/test.x", 'rb') and reading in lines to a list. Each line looks a little like: '\xbe\x00\xc8d\xf8d\x08\xe4.\x07~\x03\x9e\x07\xbe\x03\xde\x07\xfe\n' I am having a hard time manipulating this data. If I try and print each line, python freezes, and emits beeping noises (I think there's a binary beep code in there somewhere). How do I go about using this data safely? How can I convert each hex number to decimal?

  • View a SYS.XMLTYPE returned from an Oracle function, using PL/SQL

    - by caerphilly
    I have an Oracle function that dynamically creates an XML document, and returns it in a SYS.XMLTYPE value. I want to run a query from SQL Developer that calls that function and prints the document (either via a select, or dbms_output - I don't care). But all the examples/documentation seem to refer to querying XML columns in tables, and I can't seem to get the syntax right for my particular usage. I'd like something like this: declare x SYS.XMLTYPE; begin x := my_package.my_function(); select x.getclobval() from x; -- doesn't work! end; How can I print out the value of the XML type variable 'x' in the above code?

  • How to programatically read native DLL imports in C#?

    - by Eric
    The large hunk of C# code below is intended to print the imports of a native DLL. I copied it from from this link and modified it very slightly, just to use LoadLibraryEx as Mike Woodring does here. I find that when I call the Foo.Test method with the original example's target, MSCOREE.DLL, it prints all the imports fine. But when I use other dlls like GDI32.DLL or WSOCK32.DLL the imports do not get printed. What's missing from this code that would let it print all the imports as, for example, DUMPBIN.EXE does? (Is there a hint I'm not grokking in the original comment that says, "using mscoree.dll as an example as it doesnt export any thing"?) Here's the extract that just shows how it's being invoked: public static void Test() { // WORKS: var path = @"c:\windows\system32\mscoree.dll"; // NO ERRORS, BUT NO IMPORTS PRINTED EITHER: //var path = @"c:\windows\system32\gdi32.dll"; //var path = @"c:\windows\system32\wsock32.dll"; var hLib = LoadLibraryEx(path, 0, DONT_RESOLVE_DLL_REFERENCES | LOAD_IGNORE_CODE_AUTHZ_LEVEL); TestImports(hLib, true); } And here is the whole code example: namespace PETest2 { [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Explicit)] public unsafe struct IMAGE_IMPORT_BY_NAME { [FieldOffset(0)] public ushort Hint; [FieldOffset(2)] public fixed char Name[1]; } [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Explicit)] public struct IMAGE_IMPORT_DESCRIPTOR { #region union /// <summary> /// CSharp doesnt really support unions, but they can be emulated by a field offset 0 /// </summary> [FieldOffset(0)] public uint Characteristics; • Printdialog in multithreaded wpf window thrown TargetInvocationException

    - by Nils
    I have designed a multithreaded app, which is starting most windows in an dedicated thread like this: Thread newWindowThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(ThreadStartingPoint)); newWindowThread.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA); newWindowThread.IsBackground = true; newWindowThread.Start(); However, if in one of those window-in-own-thread I try to print something by simply calling PrintDialog pDialog = new PrintDialog(); bool? doPrint = pDialog.ShowDialog(); I get a TargetInvocationException - it does look like the PrintDialog does not reside in the same thread as my window. Is there any way to create a thread-agnostic (or "thread-save") PrinterDialog ?

  • Insert A Line At The Beginning Of A File

    - by thebourneid
    I'm trying to insert/add a line 'COMMENT DUMMY' at the beginnig of a file as a first row if /PATTERN/ not found. I know how to do this with OPEN CLOSE function. Probably after reading the file it should look something like this: open F, ">", $fn or die "could not open file: $!"; ; print F "COMMENT DUMMY\n", @array; close F; But I have a need to implement this with the use of the Tie::File function and don't know how. use strict; use warnings; use Tie::File; my $fn = 'test.txt'; tie my @lines, 'Tie::File', $fn or die "could not tie file: $!"; untie @lines;

  • Track mass email campaigns

    - by daeliur
    Litmus released an email analytics service last month (may 2010). See here: http://litmusapp.com/email-analytics They boast a very cool "read rate" tracking: they can track normal reads, Skims, and Glanced/Deleted. How can they track skims and glanced/deleted? This to me seems impossible :) They also track forwards and prints. Prints are easy (they include a css @media print query with a bg image). But forwards? I think this might be a combo between subsequent opens and different IPs/reffering URLs. However, this means that if I open my mail and re-read it from another computer, it counts as a forward. Any ideas on this one? To summarize: Litmus Email Analytics says they can track email reads, skims, glanced/deleted, prints and forwards. How do they do it (skims, glanced/deleted and forwards)?

  • Python script shows different pythonpath

    - by Bird Jaguar IV
    Attempting to run runsnake gives ImportError: No module named wx Opening an ipython or python session seems to work fine: >>> import wx >>> import sys >>> print [p for p in sys.path if 'wx' in p] ['/usr/local/lib/wxPython-2.9.4.0/lib/python2.7/site-packages', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-2.9.4.0/lib/python2.7/site-packages/wx-2.9.4-osx_cocoa', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-2.9.4.0/lib/python2.7/site-packages/wx-2.9.1-osx_cocoa/tools'] as does putting that code in a script and calling python script.py. But putting that code at the beginning of runsnake.py prints an empty list (printing the whole sys.path prints a path quite different from my $PYTHONPATH). Why would it be different, and how to I get it to recognize wxPython?

  • Log the method name in objective-C?

    - by vodkhang
    Currently, we are defining ourselves an extended log mechanism to print out the class name and the source line number of the log. #define NCLog(s, ...) NSLog(@"<%@:%d> %@", [[NSString stringWithUTF8String:__FILE__] lastPathComponent], \ __LINE__, [NSString stringWithFormat:(s), ##__VA_ARGS__]) For example, when I call NCLog(@"Hello world"); The output will be: Hello world Now I also want to log out the method name like: Hello world So, this would make our debugging become easier when we can know which method is getting called. I know that we also have XCode debugger but sometimes, I also want to do debugging by logging out.

  • dangling pointer, reason for value change after free()?

    - by Aman Jain
    In the following code segment, after free(x), why does y becomes 0? As per my understanding, the memory in the heap that was being pointed to by x, and is still being pointed by y, hasn't been allocated to someone else, so how can it change to 0? And moreover, I don't think it is free(x) that changed it to 0. Any comments? #include <stdio.h> int main ( int argc, char *argv[] ) { int *y = NULL; int *x = NULL; x = malloc(4); *x = 5; y = x; printf("[%d]\n", *y); //prints 5 free(x); printf("[%d]\n", *y); //why doesn't print 5?, prints 0 instead return 0; }

  • When does ref($variable) return 'IO'?

    - by Zaid
    Here's the relevant excerpt from the documentation of the ref function: The value returned depends on the type of thing the reference is a reference to. Builtin types include: SCALAR ARRAY HASH CODE REF GLOB LVALUE FORMAT IO VSTRING Regexp Based on this, I imagined that calling ref on a filehandle would return 'IO'. Surprisingly, it doesn't: use strict; use warnings; open my $fileHandle, '<', 'aValidFile'; close $fileHandle; print ref $fileHandle; # prints 'GLOB', not 'IO' perlref tries to explain why: It isn't possible to create a true reference to an IO handle (filehandle or dirhandle) using the backslash operator. The most you can get is a reference to a typeglob, which is actually a complete symbol table entry [...] However, you can still use type globs and globrefs as though they were IO handles. In what circumstances would ref return 'IO' then?

  • Python list as *args?

    - by Cap
    I have two Python functions, both of which take variable arguments in their function definitions. To give a simple example: def func1(*args): for arg in args: print arg def func2(*args): return [2 * arg for arg in args] I'd like to compose them -- as in func1(func2(3, 4, 5)) -- but I don't want args in func1 to be ([6, 7, 8],), I want it to be (6, 7, 8), as if it was called as func1(6, 7, 8) rather than func1([6, 7, 8]). Normally, I would just use func1(*func2(3, 4, 5)) or have func1 check to see if args[0] was a list. Unfortunately, I can't use the first solution in this particular instance and to apply the second would require doing such a check in many places (there are a lot of functions in the role of func1). Does anybody have an idea how to do this? I imagine some sort of introspection could be used, but I could be wrong.

  • Qt4.6: QTextDocument <HR> tag prints only very thin, almost invisible hair lines

    When printing a QTextDocument with doc->print() I almost cannot see the horizontal rules inserted by <hr>. When printing to PDF these are clearly visible. But when printed to a printer these lines are very very thin lines, almost invisible on the paper. How do I fix this? I currently helped myself by inserting an <img> with a black pixel but this is very cumbersome as I have to exactly figure out the proper pixel width by trial and error.

  • Use Regular expression with fileinput

    Hello, I am trying to replace a variable stored in another file using regular expression. The code I have tried is: r = re.compile(r"self\.uid\s*=\s*('\w{12})'") for line in fileinput.input(['file.py'], inplace=True): print line.replace(r.match(line), sys.argv[1]), The format of the variable in the file is: self.uid = '027FC8EBC2D1' I am trying to pass in a parameter in this format and use regular expression to verify that the sys.argv[1] is correct format and to find the variable stored in this file and replace it with the new variable. Can anyone help. Thanks for the help.
