  • C++/CLI com-Interop: Exposing a reference type property to VBA

    - by Adam
After long hours of investigation on exposing C# property that accepts a reference type to VBA, I concluded that it was not possible. In brief, a C# property that is of type double[] or even an object cannot be consumed in VBA like this: ' Compile Error: Function or interface marked as restricted, ' or the function uses an Automation type not supported in Visual Basic oComExposedEarlyBinding.ObjectArray = VBArray ' Run-time error 424: Object required oComExposedEarlyBinding.PlainObject = VBArray Or for more details: C# property exposed to VBA (COM) : Run-time error '424': Object required I would like to know if C++/CLI would support such an option? i.e. Allowing a reference-type property to be exposed to VBA so that a syntax like the above is valid. N.B. You can achieve this by using late binding, but losing the intellisense is not an option.

  • App with MVC Virtual application shared AuthCookie.

    - by Razcer
I have a 3.5 ASP.Net WebForm parent application. The parent uses forms authentication. I have a MVC child virtual application, I would like to make it so the user logs in to the parent application, user then navigates to the virtual application by pressing a link on the parent. However every time I do this it goes to the login screen for the virtual application. Is there a web setting I should double check in Parent? Or Child? Is there an IIS setting that I should check? Should I be using a virtual directory instead of virtual application? I want the child to be able to access the Session[] from the parent. I would like the child app to use the same authCookie as the parent app.

  • Why can't I reclaim my dynamically allocated memory using the "delete" keyword?

    - by synaptik
I have the following class: class Patient { public: Patient(int x); ~Patient(); private: int* RP; }; Patient::Patient(int x) { RP = new int [x]; } Patient::~Patient() { delete [] RP; } I create an instance of this class on the stack as follows: void f() { Patient p(10); } Now, when f() returns, I get a "double free or corruption" error, which signals to me that something is attempted to be deleted more than once. But I don't understand why that would be so. The space for the array is created on the heap, and just because the function from inside which the space was allocated returns, I wouldn't expect the space to be reclaimed. I thought that if I allocate space on the heap (using the new keyword), then the only way to reclaim that space is to use the delete keyword. Help! :)

  • Zero division does not throw exception in nunit

    - by Boris
Running the following C# code through NUnit yields Test.ControllerTest.TestSanity: Expected: <System.DivideByZeroException> But was: null So either no DivideByZeroException is thrown, or NUnit does not catch it. Similar to this question, but the answers he got, do not seem to work for me. This is using NUnit 2.5.5.10112, and .NET 4.0.30319. [Test] public void TestSanity() { Assert.Throws<DivideByZeroException>(new TestDelegate(() => DivideByZero())); } private void DivideByZero() { // Parse "0" to make sure to get an error at run time, not compile time. var a = (1 / Double.Parse("0")); } Any ideas?

  • negative precision values in ostream

    - by daz-fuller
This is more of a question of curiosity but does anyone know how negative precision values are handled in C++? For example: double pi = 3.14159265; cout.precision(-10); cout.setf(ios::fixed, ios::floatfield); cout << pi << endl; I've tried this out and using GCC and it seems that the precision value is ignored but I was curious if there is some official line on what happens in this situation.

  • How do you keep yourself and your co-workers from creating huge classes

    - by PieterG
Stackoverflow users, How do you keep yourself from creating large classes with large bodied methods. When deadlines are tight, you end up trying to hack things together and it ends up being a mess which would need to be refactored. For me, the one way was to start with test driven development and that lends itself to good class design as well as the SRP (Single Responsibility Principle). I also see developers just double clicking on controls and typing out line after line in the event method that gets fired. What are your suggestions?

  • Is using GET with a tokenID for security a good idea?

    - by acidzombie24
I was thinking about this and it appears POST only a little less vulnerable and somewhat harder (do to requiring the user to click something). I read about token ids and double submitted cookies and i am not sure what the difference is http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Cross-Site_Request_Forgery_%28CSRF%29_Prevention_Cheat_Sheet#Disclosure_of_Token_in_URL http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Cross-Site_Request_Forgery_%28CSRF%29_Prevention_Cheat_Sheet#Double_Submit_Cookies Right now i have the user id (PK in my table) and a session id so you cant simply change your cookie ID and act like someone else. Now it seems like i put the session id as a token in each of my forms and check them bc attackers cant guess these tokens. However i dislike the idea of putting the session id into the page for ppl to see. But really, is there a problem with that? short of having the user copy/pasting the html is there any attacks that can happen due to the session id being in plain view in html?

  • How do I check the validity of the Canadian Social Insurance Number in C#?

    - by user518307
I've been given the assignment to write an algorithm in C# that checks the validity of a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN). Here are the steps to validate a SIN. Given an example Number: 123 456 782 Remove the check digit (the last digit): 123456782 Extract the even digits (2,4,6,8th digith): 12345678 Double them: 2 4 6 8 | | | | v v v v 4 8 12 16 Add the digits together: 4+8+1+2+1+6 = 22 Add the Odd placed digits: 1+3+5+7 = 16 Total : 38 Validity Algorithm If the total is a multiple of 10, the check digit should be zero. Otherwise, Subtract the Total from the next highest multiple of 10 (40 in this case) The check digit for this SIN must be equal to the difference of the number and the totals from earlier (in this case, 40-38 = 2; check digit is 2, so the number is valid) I'm lost on how to actually implement this in C#, how do I do this?

  • The system cannot find the path specified with FileWriter

    - by Nazgulled
    Hi, I have this code: private static void saveMetricsToCSV(String fileName, double[] metrics) { try { FileWriter fWriter = new FileWriter( System.getProperty("user.dir") + "\\output\\" + fileTimestamp + "_" + fileDBSize + "-" + fileName + ".csv" ); BufferedWriter csvFile = new BufferedWriter(fWriter); for(int i = 0; i < 4; i++) { for(int j = 0; j < 5; j++) { csvFile.write(String.format("%,10f;", metrics[i+j])); } csvFile.write(System.getProperty("line.separator")); } csvFile.close(); } catch(IOException e) { System.out.println(e.getMessage()); } } But I get this error: C:\Users\Nazgulled\Documents\Workspace\Só Amigos\output\1274715228419_5000-List-ImportDatabase.csv (The system cannot find the path specified) Any idea why? I'm using NetBeans on Windows 7 if it matters...

  • ASP.NET control event handler not firing on postback?

    - by Polaris878
I have a control which has an ImageButton which is tied to an OnClick event... Upon clicking this control, a postback is performed and the event handler is not called. AutoEventWireup is set to true, and I've double checked spelling etc.... We haven't touched this control in over a year and it has been working fine until a couple of weeks ago. We have made changes to controls which load this control... so I'm wondering, what kind of changes could we have made to stop this event handler from being called? There is quite a bit of Javascript going on, so this could be the culprit too... Edit: Some clarification... we are dynamically loading the parent control of the ImageButton in the OnLoad event of the page... if that makes sense.

  • .NET Process.Start() on an executable on a remote system - security warning?

    - by BrettRobi
I've created a Windows Service that accepts commands from remote machines via WCF. One of those commands is to run a specified executable (let's ignore the security implications of such functionality). In my Service I am using Process.Start() to run the executable. All works well if the executable is local to the machine, but if it is on a remote file share it is failing with no error (or more accurately just hanging). I suspect the problem is that it is triggering the standard Windows 'Unverified Publisher' warning that one would see if they double click an exe on a remote system. Is there any way I can bypass this from my service so that I can truly run any executable? As I said I understand the security implications of allowing it to run any executable, but this is really what I need. I would have thought this warning was only a user mode concept, but it really does seem to be getting in the way of my Service. Ideas?

  • eclipse gcov plugin

    - by Taani
I am using gcov plugin in Eclipse CDT + cygwin compiler & linker to find code coverage. I installed gcov plugin from http://svn.sourceforge.jp/svnroot/ginkgo/trunk/org.ginko.gcov.update/ location and follow the below link to get coverage of my .c file. I was able to create .gcno and .gcda files. But double clicking on those files, opens the files in eclipse editor. I could not find the gcov editor. Also I couldn't see any code coverage results in my .c file. What is the wrong with my procedure?

  • SQLite doesn't have booleans or date-times...but C# does

    - by DanM
I've been thinking about using SQLite for my next project, but I'm concerned that it seems to lack proper datetime and bit data types. If I use DbLinq (or some other ORM) to generate C# classes, will the data types of the properties be "dumbed down"? Will date-time data be placed in properties of type string or double? Will boolean data be placed in properties of type int? If yes, what are the implications? I'm envisioning a scenario where I need to write a whole second layer of classes with more specific data types and do a bunch of transformations and casts, but maybe it's not so bad. If you have any experience with this or a similar scenario, what are your "lessons learned"?

  • REXML Formatting issues

    - by dagda1
Hi, I am using REXML to edit an xml file but have ran into difficulties with formatting. My original code looked like this: file = File.new( destination) doc = REXML::Document.new file doc.elements.each("configuration/continuity2") do |element| element.attributes["islive"] = "true" element.attributes["pagetitle"] = "#{@client.page_title}" element.attributes["clientname"] = "#{@client.name}" end doc.elements.each("configuration/continuity2/plans") do |element| element.attributes["storebasedir"] = "#{@client.store_dir}" end I first of all had to add the following code as REXML was adding single quotes instead of double quotes. I found the following via google: REXML::Attribute.class_eval( %q^ def to_string %Q[#@expanded_name="#{to_s().gsub(/"/, '&quot;')}"] end ^ ) I also have a problem in that REXML is reformatting the document. are there ways to stop this? Cheers Paul

  • Launching desired version of XCode from Finder

    - by Andy J Buchanan
My google-fu has failed me, and I guess this may be basic OS X/Xcode knowledge but.... When I double click .xcodeproj files, I'm getting the Beta I have installed launching instead of the stable release - which is the one I actually want. I have tried changing the launch program in the finder info window, but it always displays as "Xcode" and doesn't seem to accept that there are different versions - even though it offers them to me in the drop down list. Is there an xcode setting for this? Thanks.

  • How do I set default values on new properties for existing entities after light weight core data migration?

    - by Moritz
I've successfully completed light weight migration on my core data model. My custom entity Vehicle received a new property 'tirePressure' which is an optional property of type double with the default value 0.00. When 'old' Vehicles are fetched from the store (Vehicles that were created before the migration took place) the value for their 'tirePressure' property is nil. (Is that expected behavior?) So I thought: "No problem, I'll just do this in the Vehicle class:" - (void)awakeFromFetch { [super awakeFromFetch]; if (nil == self.tirePressure) { [self willChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; self.tirePressure = [NSNumber numberWithDouble:0.0]; [self didChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; } } Since "change processing is explicitly disabled around" awakeFromFetch I thought the calls to willChangeValueForKey and didChangeValueForKey would mark 'tirePresure' as dirty. But they don't. Every time these Vehicles are fetched from the store 'tirePressure' continues to be nil despite having saved the context.

  • Some unclear PHP syntax

    - by serhio
    I am a PHP beginner and saw on the forum this PHP expression: $regex = <<<'END' / ( [\x00-\x7F] # single-byte sequences 0xxxxxxx | [\xC0-\xDF][\x80-\xBF] # double-byte sequences 110xxxxx 10xxxxxx | [\xE0-\xEF][\x80-\xBF]{2} # triple-byte sequences 1110xxxx 10xxxxxx * 2 | [\xF0-\xF7][\x80-\xBF]{3} # quadruple-byte sequence 11110xxx 10xxxxxx * 3 ) | ( [\x80-\xBF] ) # invalid byte in range 10000000 - 10111111 | ( [\xC0-\xFF] ) # invalid byte in range 11000000 - 11111111 /x END; Is this code correct? What do these strange (for me) constructions like <<<, 'END', /, /x, and END; mean? I recieve: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_SL in /home/vhosts/mysite.com/public_html/mypage.php on line X Thanks

  • How can I easily make a java application invisible to the user?

    - by Pedro Bellora
Hello! I have developed a Java aplication that is currently being run by double-clicking on a ".bat" file that does something like "java -jar proy.jar". This application just listens on a port and writes to a database, so it does not have any user interface (such as a window). I need this application to run as in background mode, or as it where a service, but I don't really anything more than that. It's enough if the application is run in a way that is not noticeable by the user, so that the user is not bothered and so the application can not be mistakenly closed. By the way, this will be run on an specific computer so it's okay if I have to do any manual configuration ir order to make this work. Also, I need this application to run on startup. Any help/tips regarding this? In advance, thank you very much for your help! Regards, Pedro

  • reading unformatted fortran file in matlab - which precision?

    - by Griff
I have just written out a file: real*8 :: vol_cel real*8, dimension(256,256,256) :: dense [... some operations] open(unit=8,file=fname,form="unformatted") write(8)dense(:,:,:)/vol_cell close(8) dense and vol_cell are real*8 variables. My code to read this in in Matlab: fid = fopen(fname,'r'); mesh_raw = fread(fid,256*256*256,'double'); fclose(fid); The min and max values clearly show that it is not reading it in correctly (Min is 0 and max is a largish positive real*8). min = 3.3622e+38 max = -3.3661e+38 What precision do I need to set in Matlab to make it read in the unformatted Fortran file? A somewhat related question: This Matlab code I am using reads binary files OK but not unformatted files. Though I am generating this new data on my Mac OSX using gfortran. It doesn't recognize form="binary" so I can't do it that way. Do I need to add some library?

  • .NET Decimal = what in SQL?

    - by dmose
What's the best data type in SQL to represent Decimal in .NET? We want to store decimal numbers with up to 9 decimal place precision and want to avoid rounding errors etc on the front end. Reading about data types, it appears using Decimal in .NET is the best option because you will not get rounding errors, although it is a bit slower than a Double. We want to carry this through down to the DB and want minimum conversion issues when moving data through the layers. Any suggestions?

  • Random Number on SQL without using NewID()

    - by Angel Escobedo
Hello I want to generate a Unique Random number with out using the follow statement : Convert(int, (CHECKSUM(NEWID()))*100000) AS [ITEM] Cause when I use joins clauses on "from" it generates double registers by using NEWID() Im using SQL Server 2000 *PD : When I use Rand() it probably repeat on probability 1 of 100000000 but this is so criticall so it have to be 0% of probability to repeat a random value generated My Query with NewID() and result on SELECT statement is duplicated (x2) My QUery without NewID() and using Rand() on SELECT statement is single (x1) but the probability of repeat the random value generated is uncertainly but exists! Thanks!

  • Visual Studio 2008. MFC event wizard broken

    - by G Forty
OK, so it's almost a programming question - The VS2008 dialog event wizard has stopped working. Double-clicking on a button in an MFC dialog project does not fire the wizard as usual and a right-click to get to the 'Add Event Handler...' shows a dialog with no message types. Further to this the MFC message mapping and virtual class listing that generally appears in the properties window (Alt + Enter) is now empty. Has anyone elese seen this and if so, how'd they fix it? I have 'repaired' my VS08 installation ... Thx++ Jerry
