• WPF: Best method for printing paginated datagrids

  Boy did I get an education looking into this. I guess I've been spoiled by Powerbuilder, which has fantastic functionality for this out of the box. Does anyone seriously write custom documentpaginator objects to handle reporting needs for their LOB apps? I want to be able to print "for free" and not have to code like crazy just to take whats on the screen and throw it on paper. How are people doing this? Does anyone have a recommended 3rd party for allowing printing of largish datagrids? Thanks

• "input cannot be resolved" when added a try..catch

  I originally tried to get my throw statement to work without a try catch and the userInput = input.nextInt(); line worked fine. But when I tried adding the try..catch it didn't like my input saying it cannot be resolved. I don't think my try..catch is correct yet but I am planning on tackling that after I can get this input to be recognized but I would appreciate any feedback on things you see with that as well.   I need a scalable, automated, method of dumping the contents of "view page source" (DOM) to a file. Programs such as wget or curl will non-interactively retrieve a set of URLs, but do not execute javascript or any of that 'fancy stuff'. My ideal solution looks like any of the following (fantasy solutions): cat urls.txt | google-chrome --quiet --no-gui \ --output-sources-directory=~/urls-source (fantasy command line, no idea if flags like these exist) or cat urls.txt | python -c "import some-library; \ ... use some-library to process urls.txt ; output sources to ~/urls-source" As a secondary concern, I also need: dump all included javascript source to file (a la firebug) dump pdf/image of page to file (print to file)

• Elegant Method of Inserting Code Between Loops

  In web development, I often find I need to format and print various arrays of data, and separate these blocks of data in some manner. In other words, I need to be able to insert code between each loop, without said code being inserted before the first entry or after the last one. The most elegant way I've found to accomplish this is as follows: function echoWithBreaks($array){ for($i=0; $i<count($array); $i++){ //Echo an item if($i<count($array)-1){ //Echo "between code" } } } Unfortunately, there's no way that I can see to implement this solution with foreach instead of for. Does anyone know of a more elegant solution that will work with foreach?

However, when I try to call the method wow(), it returns an error, which is fixed by changing wow() to: def wow(self) Why do I need to include self and if I don't, what does the method mean?2.   I'm using WPF and need to let users set some print related options like printer and printer properties (e.g. papertray, landscape/portrait, duplex, etc). I'm aware of the PrintDialog class to get a PrintQueue and PrintTicket object. However I need to create I custom solution and can not show the PrintDialog. I manage to get the available PrintQueue objects and let users select a printer. I'm struggling with the printer properties. My question is: how can I show the dialog in which a user can set the printer properties for the selected PrintQueue (the dialog that is shown when a user clicks on the Properties button in the WPF PrintDialog).

• PyQt signal between QObjects

It does not work, however. The respond method is not called when I click the button. • Check if NFS share is mounted in python script

  I wrote a python script that depends on a certain NFS share to be available. If the NFS share is not mounted it will happily copy the files to the local path where it should be mounted, but fail later when it tries to copy some files back that were created on the NFS server. I'd like to catch this error specifically so I can print a useful error message that will tell the users of this script what they have to do. My first idea would be to execute mount using subprocess and then check the output for this nfs share. But I'm wondering if there isn't a nicer and more robust method of doing it.

I see that there are already StackOverflow answers tangentially related to this question but they're mired in complicated examples or involve multiple factors. Given this code: #!/usr/bin/python def test_function(): try: a = str(5) raise b = str(6) except: print b test_function() what is the best way to avoid the inevitable "UnboundLocalError: local variable 'b' referenced before assignment" that I'm going to get in the exception handler? Does python have an elegant way to handle this? If not, what about an inelegant way? In a complicated function I'd prefer to avoid testing the existence of every local variable before I, for example, printed debug information about them.

• Java: PriorityQueue returning incorrect ordering from custom comparator??

  I've written a custom comparator to compare my node classes, but the java priority queue is not returning my items in the correct order. Here is my comparator: public int compare(Node n1, Node n2){ if (n1.getF() > n2.getF()){ return +1; } else if (n1.getF() < n2.getF()){ return -1; } else { // equal return 0; } } Where getF returns a double. However after inserting several Nodes into the priority queue, I print them out using: while(open.size() > 0) { Node t = (Node)(open.remove()); System.out.println(t.getF()); } Which results in: 6.830951894845301 6.830951894845301 6.0 6.0 5.242640687119285 7.4031242374328485 7.4031242374328485 8.071067811865476 Any ideas why this is so?
