  • Keep data with specific value on top when sorting a gridview

    - by aspNetAficionado
Hi i have a gridview with information about documents: name, document type (policy, guidelines, forms, etc), category, etc. I want to sort the gridview alphabetically (name) and by document type, but always having the 'policy' above the other document types when document name is the same. How do I do that? eg If I do sort by DocumentName, DocumentType ('policy' maybe not be the first one in the list) but if I do sort by DocumentType , DocumentName (I would get for example all guidelines first in alphabetical order, then procedures, then policies, etc)

  • What is the best way to manage Time in a Java application?

    - by DanielHonig
So I'm using hibernate and working with an application that manages time. What is the best way to deal with times in a 24 hour clock? I do not need to worry about TimeZone issues at the beginning of this application but it would be best to ensure that this functionality is built in at the beginning. I'm using hibernate as well, just as an fyi

  • Which user account to assign as owner when attaching an SQL Server database?

    - by FreshCode
This is a simple database security & performance question, but I've always used either a special user (eg. mydbuser), or Windows' built-in NETWORK SECURITY account as the owner when attaching databases to my SQL Server instances. When deploying my database to a production server, is there a specific user I should stick to or avoid? I would think that using an account with a set password could open the database up to a potential security issue.

  • Eclipse auto-complete of filenames

    - by Martin Tilsted
Does anyone know if there exists a plugin to Eclipse which can auto complete filenames for files in the project. So if I type images/s [Alt+tab] it should present a list of all files located in images starting with s. Like the auto-complete for types but using filenames. It would be really cool if it worked with all kinds of editors.

If someone has a better idea on how to go about doing this let me know =)

  • Anyone heard about Sharpkit?

    - by Shimmy
Has anyone heard about SharpKit? I am about to start a new web project, and I am doubting whether to use sharpkit. From my browsing around the site and the documentation there, it looks really so seducing, does anyone have experience with it? I even played with it a little bit on their amazing online-IDE website (there are built-in templates that reference it), and I found it awsome. I would want to hear any of yours long-range experience.

  • can I have an abstract base class with the key attribute being generic

    - by Greg
Hi, I want to create a re-usable library. I was going to use extension methods however I run into some issues in some cases for the client to have to specify in the calling method the types. QUESTION - If I use an abstract base class as the basis, can I specify an attribute/property in the class to be generic (e.g. the key property might be an 'int' in one case, or a 'string' in another)?

  • Perl, time efficient hash

    - by Mike
Is it possible to use a Perl hash in a manner that has O(log(n)) lookup and insertion? By default, I assume the lookup is O(n) since it's represented by an unsorted list. I know I could create a data structure to satisfy this (ie, a tree, etc) however, it would be nicer if it was built in and could be used as a normal hash (ie, with %)

  • Why does my Sharepoint page's custom content type change to "Page" when editing?

    - by Mobius
I have a custom Sharepoint 2007 site definition with custom content types for the different page layouts. When editing a page using a custom layout from the main "View all contents" tree view, the page content type is fine, but if I view the page directly and edit it from there, the content type gets stripped and replaced with "Page." I can change it back by viewing and editing it from the main list, but not from its subsite home location.
