  • Use matching value of a RegExp to name the output file.

    - by fx42
I have this file "file.txt" which I want to split into many smaller ones. Each line of the file has an id field which looks like "id:1" for a line belonging to id 1. For each id in the file, I like to create a file named idid.txt and put all lines that belong to this id in that file. My brute force bash script solution reads as follows. count=1 while [ $count -lt 19945 ] do cat file.txt | grep "id:$count " >> ./sets/id$count.txt count='expr $count + 1' done Now this is very inefficient as I have do read through the file about 20.000 times. Is there a way to do the same operation with only one pass through the file? - What I'm probably asking for is a way to use the value that matches for a regular expression to name the associated output file.

  • Can you suggest some DIY PC specs for 1) Value, and 2) Future 'upgradability'?

    - by user17381
Hi, I'm considering building a new desktop PC from components. For the last 7/8 or so years I have almost exlusively used laptops, and so have fallen behind a bit with knowledge of various hardware technologies. Anyway, now I'm considering building a new desktop machine. Mainly for development work, but also would be nice to do a bit of gaming. The two main criteria are: I would like the first build to be relatively low cost. I would like to select components that will allow me to upgrade in the future without throwing too much away. Can anyone recommend a setup? Thanks

  • Oracle/c#: How do i use bind variables with select statements to return multiple records?

    - by twiga
I have a question regarding Oracle bind variables and select statements. What I would like to achieve is do a select on a number different values for the primary key. I would like to pass these values via an array using bind values. select * from tb_customers where cust_id = :1 int[] cust_id = { 11, 23, 31, 44 , 51 }; I then bind a DataReader to get the values into a table. The problem is that the resulting table only contains a single record (for cust_id=51). Thus it seems that each statement is executed independently (as it should), but I would like the results to be available as a collective (single table). A workaround is to create a temporary table, insert all the values of cust_id and then do a join against tb_customers. The problem with this approach is that I would require temporary tables for every different type of primary key, as I would like to use this against a number of tables (some even have combined primary keys). Is there anything I am missing?

  • How to return table name from stored procedure in dataset.

    - by Shantanu Gupta
I used a dataset to store 15 tables that I need at the time of loading. When i filled all the tables using stored procedure it returns me all the table but name of the table doesn't comes as that of actual table name in a database. It takes all the table with table name as Table1, Table2, Table3... I want them to be with the name as they actually are in table. SELECT PK_GUEST_TYPE, [DESCRIPTION] FROM L_GUEST_TYPE SELECT PK_AGE_GROUP_ID, AGE_GROUP FROM L_AGE_GROUP SELECT PK_COMPANY_ID, COMPANY_NAME FROM M_COMPANY SELECT PK_COUNTRY_ID, COUNTRY FROM L_COUNTRY SELECT PK_EYE_COLOR_ID, [DESCRIPTION] FROM L_EYE_COLOR SELECT PK_GENDER_ID, [DESCRIPTION] FROM L_GENDER SELECT PK_HAIR_COLOR_ID, [DESCRIPTION] FROM L_HAIR_COLOR SELECT PK_STATE_PROVONCE_ID, [DESCRIPTION] FROM L_STATE_PROVINCE SELECT PK_STATUS_ID, [DESCRIPTION] FROM L_STATUS SELECT PK_TITLE_ID, [DESCRIPTION] FROM L_TITLE SELECT PK_TOWER_ID, [DESCRIPTION] FROM M_TOWER SELECT PK_CITY_ID, [DESCRIPTION] FROM L_CITY SELECT PK_REGISTER_TYPE_ID, [DESCRIPTION] FROM L_REGISTER_TYPE Here is my frontend coding to fill dataset. • Is there a way to query if array field contains a certain value in Doctrine2?

    - by dpimka
Starting out with Symfony2 + Doctrine. I have a table with User objects (fos_user), for which my schema contains a roles column of an 'array' type. Doctrine saves fields of this type by serializing them from php 'array' to 'longtext' (in mysql's case). So let's say I have the following users saved into DB: **User1**: array(ROLE_ADMIN, ROLE_CUSTOM1) **User2**: array(ROLE_ADMIN, ROLE_CUSTOM2) **User3**: array(ROLE_CUSTOM2) Now in my controller I want to select all users with ROLE_ADMIN set. Is there a way to write a DQL query which would directly return me User1 and User2? Or do I need to fetch all users to have Doctrine to unserialize roles column and then for each of them do in_array('ROLE_ADMIN', $user-getRoles())? I have searched the DQL part of the manual, but so far did not find anything similar to my needs...

  • How to write this in a simpler less ridiculous way

    - by Richard Knop
    This just seems absurd to me. Should I use array instead or is there some other better solution? $('.hoursRange').change(function() { if ('0' == $(this).val()) { $(this).val('00'); return false; } if ('1' == $(this).val()) { $(this).val('01'); return false; } if ('2' == $(this).val()) { $(this).val('02'); return false; } if ('3' == $(this).val()) { $(this).val('03'); return false; } if ('4' == $(this).val()) { $(this).val('04'); return false; } if ('5' == $(this).val()) { $(this).val('05'); return false; } if ('6' == $(this).val()) { $(this).val('06'); return false; } if ('7' == $(this).val()) { $(this).val('07'); return false; } });

  • How do I Convert ARGB value from string to color?

    - by James
I am trying to use the MakeColor method in the GDIAPI unit but the conversion from int to byte is not returning me the correct value. • Can I use foreach to return only a certain type from a collection?

    - by RoboShop
If I enter the code below, I get an error. Basically, the foreach will break when it comes across a Control that isn't a label. foreach (Label currControl in this.Controls()) { ... } I have to do something like this. foreach (Control currControl in this.Controls()) { if(typeof(Label).Equals(currControl.GetType())){ ... } } can anyone think of a better way of doing it without me needing to check the type? Can I somehow get foreach to skip the objects that aren't Labels?

  • JQuery $.ajax doesn't return anything, but only in Google Chrome!?

    - by Shawson
Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me with this as I'm at a loss. I'm trying to simply load a plain text file into a page at runtime using jquery- everything works fine in IE8 (8.0.7600.16385), Firefox 3.6.3, however in Google Chrome 5.0.375.55 the "data" comes back as nothing- i get an empty alert box. • Change style display for cells with Javascript

    - by Ronny
    Hi, I want to do something like this: user selects one radio button (lock,delete or compare). I want to show to him only the relevant column from the table. (each option has different column). The table is ajax. I guess i need to change the display style for every cell but i don't know how. Here is example: Here i want to change the display of the cells function ButtonForTbl(value) { var x=document.getElementById("audithead").rows[0].cells; if (value == "lock"){ document.getElementById('lock').checked = true; //something like for(...)lockCell.style.display='' //something like for(...)deleteCell.style.display='none' //something like for(...)compareCell.style.display='none' } else if(value == "delete"){ document.getElementById('delete').checked = true; //something like for(...)lockCell.style.display='none' //something like for(...)deleteCell.style.display='' //something like for(...)compareCell.style.display='none' } else{ document.getElementById('compare').checked = true; } } I guess i need something like that: for (i = 0; i < deleteCell.length; i++) deleteCell[i].style.display='' = true ; The table: oCell = oRow.insertCell(-1); oCell.setAttribute('id','comCell' ); oCell.setAttribute('align', 'center'); oCell.innerHTML = "<input type='checkbox' id='com' value='"+ ind + "'name='com[]'>"; oCell = oRow.insertCell(-1); oCell.setAttribute('id','lockCell' ); oCell.setAttribute('align', 'center'); oCell.innerHTML = "<input type='checkbox' id='lock' value='"+ ind + "'name='lock[]'>"; Radio buttons: <input type="radio" value="compare" id="compare" name="choose" onclick="ButtonForTbl(this.value)"/> Compare&nbsp; <input type="radio" value="delete" id="delete" name="choose" onclick="ButtonForTbl(this.value)"/> Delete&nbsp; <input type="radio" value="lock" id="lock" name="choose" onclick="ButtonForTbl(this.value)"/> Lock<br/> The table html: <table class="auditable"> <thead id="audithead"> <tr><td></td></tr> </thead> <tbody id="auditTblBody"> </tbody> </table> EDIT: Full row is like that: <tr> <td align="center" id="lockCell" style="display: none;"> <input type="checkbox" onclick="" name="lock[]" value="1500" id="lock"></td> <td align="center" id="delCell" style="display: none;"> <input type="checkbox" name="del[]" value="1500"></td> <td align="center" id="comCell"> <input type="checkbox" onclick="setChecks(this)" name="com[]" value="1500" id="com"></td> <td width="65px">100% 1/1</td><td width="105px">2011-01-10 17:47:37</td> </tr> Thank you so much!

  • What would cause objectForKey: to return null with a valid string in place?

    - by theMikeSwan
I am having an issue with NSDictionary returning null for an NSString even though the string in in the dictionary. Here is the code: - (void)sourceDidChange:(NSNotification *)aNote { NSDictionary *aDict = [aNote userInfo]; DLog(@"%@", aDict); NSString *newSourceString = [aDict objectForKey:@"newSource"]; DLog(@"%@", newSourceString); newSourceString = [newSourceString stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@" " withString:@""]; DLog(@"%@", newSourceString); NSString *inspectorString = [newSourceString stringByAppendingString:@"InspectorController"]; DLog(@"%@", inspectorString); newSourceString = [newSourceString stringByAppendingString:@"ViewController"]; DLog(@"%@", newSourceString); } And I get the following log statements: 2010-04-17 23:50:13.913 CoreDataUISandbox[13417:a0f] -[RightViewController sourceDidChange:] newSource = "Second View"; 2010-04-17 23:50:13.914 CoreDataUISandbox[13417:a0f] -[RightViewController sourceDidChange:] (null) 2010-04-17 23:50:13.916 CoreDataUISandbox[13417:a0f] -[RightViewController sourceDidChange:] (null) 2010-04-17 23:50:13.917 CoreDataUISandbox[13417:a0f] -[RightViewController sourceDidChange:] (null) 2010-04-17 23:50:13.917 CoreDataUISandbox[13417:a0f] -[RightViewController sourceDidChange:] (null) As you can see the string is in the dictionary under the key newSource, yet when I call objectForKey: I get null. I have even tried the fallback option of cleaning the project. Has anyone ever run into this, or have I just forgotten something really basic?

  • Search dir using wildcard string, return filename, and loop.

    - by Charlie Murphy
Hello all, I'm having some problems, and looking for some help. I'm trying to create a photo gallery in javascript, that will be able to 'update' it's self automatically. I need to be able to search a directory, and grab a file with a specific prefix. I need to output the followng HTML code: <li><a href="images/resize_FILENAME.ext"><img src="images/thumb_FILENAME.ext"></a></li> The 'resize_' and 'thumb_' use a timestamp to identify, so they have the same ending, just a different prefix. So, for example, if I search the directory for an image with a prefix of 'resize_', I need to insert that into the a tag, and then remove the '_resize' prefix, and add the '_thumb' prefix for the img tag. I then need to be able to do that for each image in the directory. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I should add: I'm assuming php would be easiest for this, but if an alternative exists that would work too. I'm also using jQuery if javascript would be better.

  • What is the value/cost of enabling "spread spectrum clocking" on my hard drives?

    - by Stu Thompson
I'm building up a biggish NAS box (10x WD RE4 2TB SATA RAID10) and ran into some problems. During the course of my research, debugging, investigations, etc, I discovered a jumper on the physical drives labeled "spread spectrum clocking". After some googling about this on teh internets, it seems to be a feature that some suggest (without reference or explanation) enabling in 'a storage configuration' that makes the drive less sussesptable to EMI. But why? I've got three core questions: Why is this feature not enabled by default? What are the actual benefits? Are there any costs?

  • How to generalize a method call in Java (to avoid code duplication)

    - by dln385
I have a process that needs to call a method and return its value. However, there are several different methods that this process may need to call, depending on the situation. If I could pass the method and its arguments to the process (like in Python), then this would be no problem. However, I don't know of any way to do this in Java. Here's a concrete example. (This example uses Apache ZooKeeper, but you don't need to know anything about ZooKeeper to understand the example.) The ZooKeeper object has several methods that will fail if the network goes down. In this case, I always want to retry the method. To make this easy, I made a "BetterZooKeeper" class that inherits the ZooKeeper class, and all of its methods automatically retry on failure. This is what the code looked like: public class BetterZooKeeper extends ZooKeeper { private void waitForReconnect() { // logic } @Override public Stat exists(String path, Watcher watcher) { while (true) { try { return super.exists(path, watcher); } catch (KeeperException e) { // We will retry. } waitForReconnect(); } } @Override public byte[] getData(String path, boolean watch, Stat stat) { while (true) { try { return super.getData(path, watch, stat); } catch (KeeperException e) { // We will retry. } waitForReconnect(); } } @Override public void delete(String path, int version) { while (true) { try { super.delete(path, version); return; } catch (KeeperException e) { // We will retry. } waitForReconnect(); } } } (In the actual program there is much more logic and many more methods that I took out of the example for simplicity.) We can see that I'm using the same retry logic, but the arguments, method call, and return type are all different for each of the methods. Here's what I did to eliminate the duplication of code: public class BetterZooKeeper extends ZooKeeper { private void waitForReconnect() { // logic } @Override public Stat exists(final String path, final Watcher watcher) { return new RetryableZooKeeperAction<Stat>() { @Override public Stat action() { return BetterZooKeeper.super.exists(path, watcher); } }.run(); } @Override public byte[] getData(final String path, final boolean watch, final Stat stat) { return new RetryableZooKeeperAction<byte[]>() { @Override public byte[] action() { return BetterZooKeeper.super.getData(path, watch, stat); } }.run(); } @Override public void delete(final String path, final int version) { new RetryableZooKeeperAction<Object>() { @Override public Object action() { BetterZooKeeper.super.delete(path, version); return null; } }.run(); return; } private abstract class RetryableZooKeeperAction<T> { public abstract T action(); public final T run() { while (true) { try { return action(); } catch (KeeperException e) { // We will retry. } waitForReconnect(); } } } } The RetryableZooKeeperAction is parameterized with the return type of the function. The run() method holds the retry logic, and the action() method is a placeholder for whichever ZooKeeper method needs to be run. Each of the public methods of BetterZooKeeper instantiates an anonymous inner class that is a subclass of the RetryableZooKeeperAction inner class, and it overrides the action() method. The local variables are (strangely enough) implicitly passed to the action() method, which is possible because they are final. In the end, this approach does work and it does eliminate the duplication of the retry logic. However, it has two major drawbacks: (1) it creates a new object every time a method is called, and (2) it's ugly and hardly readable. Also I had to workaround the 'delete' method which has a void return value. So, here is my question: is there a better way to do this in Java? This can't be a totally uncommon task, and other languages (like Python) make it easier by allowing methods to be passed. I suspect there might be a way to do this through reflection, but I haven't been able to wrap my head around it.

  • How can I access the value of a checkbox without a postback?

    - by Starwfanatic
I have a radgrid controlling access to an application for users. There are two columns, a 'name' column and a checkbox 'access' column representing their current access permission. the checkboxes are populated from a database. I would like the to change the checkboxes to grant or deny access to the users I specify. Since there are alot of users I would like to make multiple changes and use a submit button to write the changes to the database. I do not want to postback with each checkbox change and wait for the page to "blink". My problem is that with the checkbox postback disabled, when I click submit, the value of the checkboxes are not registering the changes I make. I need a way to access the current client-side state of the checkbox or some workaround to accomplish this. Thanks in advance!

  • boost::spirit::karma using the alternatives operator (|) with conditions

    - by Ingemar
I'm trying to generate a string from my own class called Value using boost::spirit::karma, but i got stuck with this. I've tried to extract my problem into a simple example. I want to generate a String with karma from instances of the following class: class Value { public: enum ValueType { BoolType, NumericType }; Value(bool b) : type_(BoolType), value_(b) {} Value(const double d) : type_(NumericType), value_(d) {}; ValueType type() { return type_; } operator bool() { return boost::get<bool>(value_); } operator double() { return boost::get<double>(value_); } private: ValueType type_; boost::variant<bool, double> value_; }; Here you can see what I'm tying to do: int main() { using karma::bool_; using karma::double_; using karma::rule; using karma::eps; std::string generated; std::back_insert_iterator<std::string> sink(generated); rule<std::back_insert_iterator<std::string>, Value()> value_rule = bool_ | double_; Value bool_value = Value(true); Value double_value = Value(5.0); karma::generate(sink, value_rule, bool_value); std::cout << generated << "\n"; generated.clear(); karma::generate(sink, value_rule, double_value); std::cout << generated << "\n"; return 0; } The first call to karma::generate() works fine because the value is a bool and the first generator in my rule also "consumes" a bool. But the second karma::generate() fails with boost::bad_get because karma tries to eat a bool and calls therefore Value::operator bool(). My next thought was to modify my generator rule and use the eps() generator together with a condition but here i got stuck: value_rule = (eps( ... ) << bool_) | (eps( ... ) << double_); I'm unable to fill the brackets of the eps generator with sth. like this (of course not working): eps(value.type() == BoolType) I've tried to get into boost::phoenix, but my brain seems not to be ready for things like this. Please help me! here is my full example (compiling but not working): main.cpp

  • SQL Structure of DB table with different types of columns

    - by Dmitry Dvornikov
I have a problem with the optimization of the structure of the database. I'll try to explain it exactly. I create a project, where we can add different values??, but this values must have different types of the columns in the database (eg, int, double , varchar). What is the best way to store the different types of values ??in the database. In the project I'm using Propel 1.6. The point is availability to add value with 'int', 'varchar' and other columns types, to search the table was efficient. In total, I have two ideas. The first is to create a table of "value", which will have columns: "id ", "value_int", "value_double", "value_varchar", etc - with the corresponding column types. Depending on the type of values??, records will be saved with the value in the appropriate column (the rest will be NULL). The second solution is to create separate tables such as "value_int", "value_varchar" etc. There would be columns: "id", "value", which correspond to the relevant types of "value" (ie, such as int, varchar, etc). I must admit that I do not believe any of the above solutions, originally I was thinking about one table "value", where the column would be a "text" type - but this solution would probably be even worse. I would like to know your opinion on this topic, maybe something else would be better. Thanks in advance. EDIT: For example : We have three tables: USER: [table of users] * id * name FIELD: [table of profile fields - where the column 'type' is the type of field, eg int or varchar) * id * type * name VALUE : * id * User_id - ( FK user.id ) * Field_id - ( FK field.id ) * value So we have in each row an user in USER table, and the profile is stored in the VALUE table. Bit each profile field may have a different type (column 'type' in the FIELD table), and based on that I would want this value to add to the appropriate column of the appropriate type.

  • What's the best way of using a pair (triple, etc) of values as one value in C#?

    - by Yacoder
That is, I'd like to have a tuple of values. The use case on my mind: Dictionary<Pair<string, int>, object> or Dictionary<Triple<string, int, int>, object> Are there built-in types like Pair or Triple? Or what's the best way of implementing it? Update There are some general-purpose tuples implementations described in the answers, but for tuples used as keys in dictionaries you should additionaly verify correct calculation of the hash code. Some more info on that in another question. Update 2 I guess it is also worth reminding, that when you use some value as a key in dictionary, it should be immutable.

  • How to return the full file path in a C# / ASP.NET web application?

    - by salvationishere
This should be really simple, but I have tried many solutions posted on the internet so I thought I'd give this a try here. I have a VS 2008 web application that I need to capture the full file path (directories and file name) from the selected file. So user selects a file and then clicks on one of the buttons which transfers control to my code for processing. So how do I get the file path? I can get the file name, but not the path. Thanks!

  • Best practice to pass a value from pop up control on iPad.

    - by Tattat
It is an iPad app based on SDK 3.2. I have a MainUIView, that is subclass from UIView, it have a UIButton and a UILabel. When user press the UIButton, the pop up control will be appeared with a table view. When the user select a cell from the table view, the UILabel changes content base on the user click, and the pop up table view will disappear. The question is, how can I pass the "selected cell" to the UILabel. I am thinking making a "middle man" object. When the user click the UIButton, and the "middle man" will pass to the table. When the cell is selected, the "middle man" will store the idx, and call the UILabel change content from the value of "middle man". But I think it is pretty complex to implement, is there any easier way to implement it? thz u.
