  • PHP - Nested Looping Trouble

    - by Jeremy A
    I have an HTML table that I need to populate with the values grabbed from a select statement. The table cols are populated by an array (0,1,2,3). Each of the results from the query will contain a row 'GATE' with a value of (0-3), but there will not be any predictability to those results. One query could pull 4 rows with 'GATE' values of 0,1,2,3, the next query could pull two rows with values of 1 & 2, or 1 & 3. I need to be able to populate this HTML table with values that correspond. So HTML COL 0 would have the TTL_NET_SALES of the db row which also has the GATE value of 0. <?php $gate = array(0,1,2,3); $gate_n = count($gate); /* Database = my_table.ID my_table.TT_NET_SALES my_table.GATE my_table.LOCKED */ $locked = "SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE locked = true"; $locked_n = count($locked); /* EXAMPLE RETURN Row 1: my_table['ID'] = 1 my_table['TTL_NET_SALES'] = 1000 my_table['GATE'] = 1; Row 2: my_table['ID'] = 2 my_table['TTL_NET_SALES'] = 1500 my_table['GATE'] = 3; */ print "<table border='1'>"; print "<tr><td>0</td><td>1</td><td>2</td><td>3</td>"; print "<tr>"; for ($i=0; $i<$locked_n; $i++) { for ($g=0; $g<$gate_n; $g++) { if (!is_null($locked['TTL_NET_SALES'][$i]) && $locked['GATE'][$i] == $gate[$g]) { print "<td>$".$locked['TTL_NET_SALES'][$i]."</td>"; } else { print "<td>-</td>"; } } } print "</tr>"; print "</table>"; /* What I want to see: <table border='1'> <tr> <td>0</td> <td>1</td> <td>2</td> <td>3</td> </tr> <tr> <td>-</td> <td>1000</td> <td>-</td> <td>1500</td> </tr> </table> */ ?>

  • PHP HTML table is too wide

    - by typoknig
    I have a table that I cannot get to size correctly. The table populates with information from a database via a loop. Sometimes if the data is too long the table extends past where it should. When the data is that long I want the data to wrap in the cells so the table stays where it should. I have tried the normal table data but it isn't working. Any ideas? <?php echo "<table> <tr> <th>id</th> <th>700-number</th> <th>First name</th> <th>Last name</th> <th>Email</th> <th>Response</th> <th>Created On</th> </tr>"; $num = mysql_num_rows($result); for ($i = 0; $i < $num; $i++) { $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $id = $row['id']; $school_id = $row['school_id']; $fname = $row['first_name']; $lname = $row['last_name']; $email = $row['email']; $attending = ($row['attending'] == 0) ? 'No' : 'Yes'; $date = $row['created_on']; $class = (($i % 2) == 0) ? "td2" : "td1"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$id</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$school_id</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$fname</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$lname</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$email</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$attending</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$date</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } ?> </table>

  • Having a problem inserting a foreign key data into a table using a PHP form

    - by Gideon
    I am newbee with PHP and MySQL and need help... I have two tables (Staff and Position) in the database. The Staff table (StaffId, Name, PositionID (fk)). The Position table is populated with different positions (Manager, Supervisor, and so on). The two tables are linked with a PositionID foreign key in the Staff table. I have a staff registration form with textfields asking for the relevant attributes and a dynamically populated drop down list to choose the position. I need to insert the user's entry into the staff table along with the selected position. However, when inserting the data, I get the following error (Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails). How do I insert the position selected by the user into the staff table? Here is some of my code... ... echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>"; echo "*Position:"; echo "</td>"; echo "<td>"; //dynamically populate the staff position drop down list from the position table $position="SELECT PositionId, PositionName FROM Position ORDER BY PositionId"; $exeposition = mysql_query ($position) or die (mysql_error()); echo "<select name=position value=''>Select Position</option>"; while($positionarray=mysql_fetch_array($exeposition)) { echo "<option value=$positionarray[PositionId]>$positionarray[PositionName]</option>"; } echo "</select>"; echo "</td>"; echo "</tr>" //the form is processed with the code below $FirstName = $_POST['firstname']; $LastName = $_POST['lastname']; $Address = $_POST['address']; $City = $_POST['city']; $PostCode = $_POST['postcode']; $Country = $_POST['country']; $Email = $_POST['email']; $Password = $_POST['password']; $ConfirmPass = $_POST['confirmpass']; $Mobile = $_POST['mobile']; $NI = $_POST['nationalinsurance']; $PositionId = $_POST[$positionarray['PositionId']]; //format the dob for the database $dobpart = explode("/", $_POST['dob']); $formatdob = $dobpart[2]."-".$dobpart[1]."-".$dobpart[0]; $DOB = date("Y-m-d", strtotime($formatdob)); $newReg = "INSERT INTO Staff (FirstName, LastName, Address, City, PostCode, Country, Email, Password, Mobile, DOB, NI, PositionId) VALUES ('".$FirstName."', '".$LastName."', '".$Address."', '".$City."', '".$PostCode."', '".$Country."', '".$Email."', '".$Password."', ".$Mobile.", '".$DOB."', '".$NI."', '".$PostionId."')"; Your time and help is surely appreciated.

  • Need to write at beginning of file with PHP

    - by Timothy
    I'm making this program and I'm trying to find out how to write data to the beginning of a file rather than the end. "a"/append only writes to the end, how can I make it write to the beginning? Because "r+" does it but overwrites the previous data. $datab = fopen('database.txt', "r+"); Here is my whole file: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>Facebook v0.1</title> <style type="text/css"> #bod{ margin:0 auto; width:800px; border:solid 2px black; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="bod"> <?php $fname = $_REQUEST['fname']; $lname = $_REQUEST['lname']; $comment = $_REQUEST['comment']; $datab = $_REQUEST['datab']; $gfile = $_REQUEST['gfile']; print <<<form <table border="2" style="margin:0 auto;"> <td> <form method="post" action=""> First Name : <input type ="text" name="fname" value=""> <br> Last Name : <input type ="text" name="lname" value=""> <br> Comment : <input type ="text" name="comment" value=""> <br> <input type ="submit" value="Submit"> </form> </td> </table> form; if((!empty($fname)) && (!empty($lname)) && (!empty($comment))){ $form = <<<come <table border='2' width='300px' style="margin:0 auto;"> <tr> <td> <span style="color:blue; font-weight:bold;"> $fname $lname : </span> $comment </td> </tr> </table> come; $datab = fopen('database.txt', "r+"); fputs($datab, $form); fclose($datab); }else if((empty($fname)) && (empty($lname)) && (empty($comment))){ print" please input data"; } // end table $datab = fopen('database.txt', "r"); while (!feof($datab)){ $gfile = fgets($datab); print "$gfile"; }// end of while ?> </div> </body> </html>

  • Create dropdown from multi array + PHP class

    - by chris
    Hi there, Well, I am writing class that creates a DOB selection dropdown. I am having figure out the dropdown(), it seems working but not exactly. Code just creates one drop down, and under this dropdown all day, month and year data are in one selection. like: <label> <sup>*</sup>DOB</label> <select name="form_bod_year"> <option value=""/> <option selected="" value="0">1</option> <option value="1">2</option> <option value="2">3</option> <option value="3">4</option> <option value="4">5</option> <option value="5">6</option> .. <option value="29">30</option> <option value="30">31</option> <option value="1">January</option> <option value="2">February</option> .. <option value="11">November</option> <option value="12">December</option> <option selected="" value="0">1910</option> <option value="1">1911</option> .. <option value="98">2008</option> <option value="99">2009</option> <option value="100">2010</option> </select> Here is my code, I wonder that why all datas are in one selection. It has to be tree selction - Day:Month:Year. //dropdown connector class DropDownConnector { var $dropDownsDatas; var $field_label; var $field_name; var $locale; function __construct($dropDownsDatas, $field_label, $field_name, $locale) { $this-dropDownsDatas = $dropDownsDatas; $this-field_label = $field_label; $this-field_name = $field_name; $this-locale = $locale; } function getValue(){ return $_POST[$this-field_name]; } function dropdown(){ $selectedVal = $this-getValue($this-field_name); foreach($this-dropDownsDatas as $keys=$values){ foreach ($values as $key=$value){ $selected = ($key == $selectedVal ? "selected" : "" ); $options .= sprintf('%s',$key,$value); }; }; return $select_start = "$this-field_desc".$options.""; } function getLabel(){ $non_req = $this-getNotRequiredData(); $req = in_array($this-field_name, $non_req) ? '' : '*'; return $this-field_label ? $req . $this-field_label : ''; } function __toString() { $id = $this-field_name; $label = $this-getLabel(); $field = $this-dropdown(); return 'field_name.'"'.$label.''.$field.''; } } function generateForm ($lang,$country_list,$states_list,$days_of_month,$month_list,$years){ $xx = array( 'form_bod_day' = $days_of_month, 'form_bod_month' = $month_list, 'form_bod_year' = $years); echo $dropDownConnector = new DropDownConnector($xx,'DOB','bod','en-US'); } // Call php class to use class on external functionss. $avInq = new formGenerator; $lang='en-US'; echo generateForm ($lang,$country_list,$states_list,$days_of_month,$month_list,$years);

  • Output a php multi-dimensional array to a html table

    - by Fireflight
    I have been banging my head against the wall with this one for nearly a week now, and am no closer than I was the first day. I have a form that has 8 columns and a variable number of rows which I need to email to the client in a nicely formatted email. The form submits the needed fields as a multidimensional array. Rough example is below: <input name="order[0][topdiameter]" type="text" id="topdiameter0" value="1" size="5" /> <input name="order[0][bottomdiameter]" type="text" id="bottomdiameter0" value="1" size="5" /> <input name="order[0][slantheight]" type="text" id="slantheight0" value="1" size="5" /> <select name="order[0][fittertype]" id="fittertype0"> <option value="harp">Harp</option> <option value="euro">Euro</option> <option value="bulbclip">Regular</option> </select> <input name="order[0][washerdrop]" type="text" id="washerdrop0" value="1" size="5" /> <select name="order[0][fabrictype]" id="fabrictype"> <option value="linen">Linen</option> <option value="pleated">Pleated</option> </select> <select name="order[0][colours]" id="colours0"> <option value="beige">Beige</option> <option value="white">White</option> <option value="eggshell">Eggshell</option> <option value="parchment">Parchment</option> </select> <input name="order[0][quantity]" type="text" id="quantity0" value="1" size="5" /> This form is formatted in a table, and rows can be added to it dynamically. What I've been unable to do is get a properly formatted table out of the array. This is what I'm using now (grabbed from the net). <?php if (isset($_POST["submit"])) { $arr= $_POST['order'] echo '<table>'; foreach($arr as $arrs) { echo '<tr>'; foreach($arrs as $item) { echo "<td>$item</td>"; } echo '</tr>'; } echo '</table>; }; ?> This works perfectly for a single row of data. If I try submitting 2 or more rows from the form then one of the columns disappears. I'd like the table to be formatted as: | top | Bottom | Slant | Fitter | Washer | Fabric | Colours | Quantity | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |value| value | value | value | value | value | value | value | with additional rows as needed. But, I can't find any examples that will generate that type of table! It seems like this should be something fairly straightforward, but I just can't locate an example that works the way I need it too.

  • merge 2 php arrays which aren't of the same length by value

    - by Iain Urquhart
    Excuse me if this has indeed been asked before, I couldn't see anything that fitted my needs out of the dozens of similar titled posts out there ;) I'm trying to merge 2 php arrays which aren't of the same length, and merge them on a value that exists from identical key = values within both arrays. My first query produces an array from a nested set: array ( 1 => array ( 'node_id' => 1, 'lft' => 1, 'rgt' => 4, 'moved' => 0, 'label' => 'Home', 'entry_id' => 1, 'template_path' => '', 'custom_url' => '/', 'extra' => '', 'childs' => 1, 'level' => 0, 'lower' => 0, 'upper' => 0 ), 2 => array ( 'node_id' => 2, 'lft' => 2, 'rgt' => 3, 'moved' => 0, 'label' => 'Home', 'entry_id' => NULL, 'template_path' => '', 'custom_url' => 'http://google.com/', 'extra' => '', 'childs' => 0, 'level' => 1, 'lower' => 0, 'upper' => 0 ) ); My second array returns some additional key/values I'd like to insert to the above array: array ( 'entry_id' => 1, 'entry_title' => 'This is my title', ); I want to merge both of the arrays inserting the additional information into those that match on the key 'entry_id', as well as keeping the sub arrays which don't match. So, by combining the two arrays, I'd end up with array ( 1 => array ( 'node_id' => 1, 'lft' => 1, 'rgt' => 4, 'moved' => 0, 'label' => 'Home', 'entry_id' => 1, 'template_path' => '', 'custom_url' => '/', 'extra' => '', 'childs' => 1, 'level' => 0, 'lower' => 0, 'upper' => 0, 'entry_title' => 'This is my title' ), 2 => array ( 'node_id' => 2, 'lft' => 2, 'rgt' => 3, 'moved' => 0, 'label' => 'Home', 'entry_id' => NULL, 'template_path' => '', 'custom_url' => 'http://google.com/', 'extra' => '', 'childs' => 0, 'level' => 1, 'lower' => 0, 'upper' => 0, 'entry_title' => NULL ) ); Actually, writing this out makes me think I should do it via sql... Any help/advice greatly appreciated...

  • How Can I Set Up a "Where" Statement with a PHP Array

    - by Ryan
    Am I able to apply "where" statements to PHP arrays, similar to how I would be able to apply a "where" statement to a MySQL query? For example, suppose I have the following array: $recordset = array( array('host' => 1, 'country' => 'fr', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 1, 'clicks' => 123, 'users' => 4), array('host' => 1, 'country' => 'fr', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 2, 'clicks' => 134, 'users' => 5), array('host' => 1, 'country' => 'fr', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 3, 'clicks' => 341, 'users' => 2), array('host' => 1, 'country' => 'es', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 1, 'clicks' => 113, 'users' => 4), array('host' => 1, 'country' => 'es', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 2, 'clicks' => 234, 'users' => 5), array('host' => 1, 'country' => 'es', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 3, 'clicks' => 421, 'users' => 2), array('host' => 1, 'country' => 'es', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 4, 'clicks' => 22, 'users' => 3), array('host' => 2, 'country' => 'es', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 1, 'clicks' => 111, 'users' => 2), array('host' => 2, 'country' => 'es', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 2, 'clicks' => 2, 'users' => 4), array('host' => 3, 'country' => 'es', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 3, 'clicks' => 34, 'users' => 2), array('host' => 3, 'country' => 'es', 'year' => 2010, 'month' => 4, 'clicks' => 1, 'users' => 1),); How can I limit the output to only show the keys and values related to 'host' 1 and 'country' fr? Any help would be great.

  • Replacing innertext of XML node using PHP DOMDocument

    - by Rohan Kumar
    I want to replace innertext of a XML node my XML file named test.xml is <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ads> <loop>no</loop> <item> <description>Description 1</description> </item> <item> <description>Text in item2</description> </item> <item> <description>Let play with this XML</description> </item> </ads> I want to change the value of loop and description tag both, and it should be saved in test.xml like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ads> <loop>yes</loop> <item> <description>Description Changing Here</description> </item> <item> <description>Changing text in item2</description> </item> <item> <description>We will play later</description> </item> </ads> I tried code in PHP: <? $file = "test.xml"; $fp = fopen($file, "rb") or die("cannot open file"); $str = fread($fp, filesize($file)); $dom=new DOMDocument(); $dom->formatOutput = true; $dom->preserveWhiteSpace = false; $dom->loadXML($str) or die("Error"); //$dom->load("items.xml"); $root=$dom->documentElement; // This can differ (I am not sure, it can be only documentElement or documentElement->firstChild or only firstChild) $loop=$root->getElementsByTagName('loop')->item(0);//->textContent; //echo $loop; if(trim($loop->textContent)=='no') { echo 'ok'; $root->getElementsByTagName('loop')->item(0)->nodeValue ='yes'; } echo "<xmp>NEW:\n". $dom->saveXML() ."</xmp>"; ?> I tried only for loop tag.I don't know how to replace nodevalue in description tag.     $jan5 = 0; $feb5 = 0; $mar5 = 0; $apr5 = 0; $may5 = 0; $jun5 = 0; $jul5 = 0; $aug5 = 0; $sep5 = 0; $oct5 = 0; $nov5 = 0; $dec5 = 0; $jan4 = 0; $feb4 = 0; $mar4 = 0; $apr4 = 0; $may4 = 0; $jun4 = 0; $jul4 = 0; $aug4 = 0; $sep4 = 0; $oct4 = 0; $nov4 = 0; $dec4 = 0; $jan3 = 0; $feb3 = 0; $mar3 = 0; $apr3 = 0; $may3 = 0; $jun3 = 0; $jul3 = 0; $aug3 = 0; $sep3 = 0; $oct3 = 0; $nov3 = 0; $dec3 = 0; this is the most time consuming code when i try to make for example i want the default value of $jan5 is equal to zero.. can some one teach me how to make this short? thank you so much for reading $date = 'smi_initialdate'; $level = 'smi_level'; $year = '2012'; $result1 = mysql_query("SELECT *, DATE_FORMAT( $date, '%m' ) As monthz FROM eis_mngt_sales_iti WHERE year($date) = '$year' ORDER BY $date"); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result1)) { $count++; if($row['smi_level']=='5star') { if($row['monthz']==1) { $jan++; }elseif($row['monthz']==2) { $feb++; }elseif($row['monthz']==3) { $mar++; }elseif($row['monthz']==4) { $apr++; }elseif($row['monthz']==5) { $may++; }elseif($row['monthz']==6) { $jun++; }elseif($row['monthz']==7) { $jul++; }elseif($row['monthz']==8) { $aug++; }elseif($row['monthz']==9) { $sep++; }elseif($row['monthz']==10) { $oct++; }elseif($row['monthz']==11) { $nov++; }elseif($row['monthz']==12) { $dec++; } } } i decide to put this $jan5 = 0;$feb5 = 0;$mar5 = 0;$apr5 = 0;$may5 = 0;$jun5 = 0;$jul5 = 0; so that if the data did not pass to this condition if($row['smi_level']=='5star') they have the return value of zero(0). so that my output can adapt in this code [<?php echo$jan5.",".$feb5.",".$mar5.",".$apr5.",".$may5.",".$jun5.",".$jul5.",".$aug5.",".$sep5.",".$oct5.",".$nov5.",".$dec5; ?] if a dont use the above code the $jan5 = 0;$feb5 = 0;$mar5 = 0;$apr5 = 0;$may5 = 0;$jun5 = 0;$jul5 = 0;................ when i echo or print it i look like this 1,2,5,11,12 but with the use of that(the first sample code above) the output will be 1,0,0,0,0,0,0,1,2,5,11,12. thank, sorry if this became confusing, sorry about my grammar

  • Welcome to the Oracle Retail International Blog

    - by sarah.taylor(at)oracle.com
    Welcome to the first post of the new Oracle Retail International Blog. Retail is an international business and today's successful retailers view themselves in the context of a global market. A niche fashion business in Tokyo will learn marketing strategies from the luxury brands of Milan, an independent grocer in Oslo will source the same global brands as a supermarket in Oklahoma, and every retailer in the world will measure their multi-channel operation against the international e-commerce giant Amazon.  Why? Because today's customer is a global customer with unparalleled expectations on choice, price and service. Today's consumers have access to more information on retail than ever before. Technology allows people to shop from their home, their office or from the phone in their pocket, wherever they are and at whatever time suits them. Customers are using the web to search for products and promotions. They are also using the web to develop their voice in commenting on products and services that have delighted or disappointed. In an information rich industry, this customer element creates a new world of data. The best retailers are developing eagle eyes for reading customer activity and turning it into profitable decisions. Ultimately, whether you choose to compete or shop on price, service, product innovation, excellent operations or all of the above - the international world of retail has become an inspiration for all - retailer and consumer alike.  Retail as an industry is growing and diversifying at a faster rate than ever before. Yet it is still the customer who picks the winners and the losers on the retail field. Economic circumstances transform the rules, but it is still the customer who dictates the game, the pace, the price, and the perception of the brand. Wise retailers never rest on their laurels. They are always shopping for ideas on how to improve and differentiate the offer at every touch point to meet the customer's needs better than anyone else and to gain each customer's loyalty at a time when loyalty can be cheap. With this blog, I hope that we might provide a hub for discussion around what unifies retail and how technology supports both the retailer and customer experience. Despite the competitive nature of this market, we hope that this will provide an opportunity to share experiences and lessons learnt with a view that knowledge can only help this industry to grow and develop. At Oracle we've been supporting retailers for many years. Many of us have worked within retail organisations all over the world, myself included. With this in mind, I don't feel it is too bold a statement to say that Oracle understands retail. We wouldn't be so heavily integrated in some of the biggest and most well-known names in retail if we didn't. With this blog, we intend to create a community of international retailers that can exchange ideas and experiences, debate collective challenges and drive a better understanding of this continually evolving industry. Events such as the World Retail Congress and NRF's Big Show bring enormous value to the retail industry providing platforms for discussion and learning but they happen once a year. We wanted to create a platform for discussion on a different level and that like retail, is always on. We hope not only to bring commitment to being not only the infrastructure that brings all of their systems together within a retail business, but an infrastructure that supports the industry internationally to grow and flourish through creating a platform for networking, discussion, creativity, vision and strategy. • Enabling Google Webmaster Tools With Your GWB Blog

    - by ToStringTheory
    I’ll be honest and save you some time, if you don’t have your own domain for your GWB blog, this won’t help, you may just want to move on…  I don’t want to waste your time……… Still here?  Good.  How great are Google’s website tools?  I don’t just mean Analytics which rocks, but also their Webmaster Tools (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/) which gives you a glimpse into the queries that provide you your website traffic, search engine behavior on your site, and important keywords, just to name a few.   Pictured Above: Cool statistics. Problem Thanks to svickn over at wtfnext.com (another GeeksWithBlogs blog), we already have the knowledge on how to setup Google Analytics (wtfnext.com - How to: Set up Google Analytics on your GeeksWithBlogs blog).  However, one of the questions raised in the post, and even semi-answered in the questions, was how to setup Google Webmaster Tools with your blog as well. At first glance, it seems like it can’t be done.  Google graciously gives you several different options on how to authorize that you own a site.  The authentication options are: 1. (Recommended) – Upload an HTML file to your server 2. Add a meta tag to your site’s home page 3. Use your Google Analytics account 4. Add a DNS record to your domain’s configuration Since you don’t have access to the base path, you can’t do #1.  Same goes for #2 since you can’t edit the master/index page.  As for #3, they REQUIRE the Analytics code to be in the <head> section of your page, so even though we can use the workaround of hosting it in the news section, it won’t allow it since it isn’t in the correct place. Solution Last I checked, I didn’t see the DNS record option for Webmaster Tools.  Maybe this was recently added, or maybe I don’t remember it since I was always able to use some other method to authorize it.  In this case though, this is the option that we need.  My registrar wasn’t in their list, but they provide detailed enough instructions for the ‘Other’ option: Simply create a TXT record with your domain hoster (mine is DynDns), fill in the tag information, and then click verify.  My entry was able to be resolved immediately, but since you are working with DNS, it may take longer.  If after 24 hours you still aren’t able to verify, you can use a site such as mxtoolbox.com, and in the searchbox type “txt: {domain-name-here}”, to see if your TXT record was entered successfully. It is pretty simple to setup the TXT entry in DynDns, but if you have questions/comments, feel free to post them. Conclusion With this simple workaround (not really a workaround, but feature since they offer it..), you are now able to see loads of information regarding your standings in the world of the Google Search Engine.  No critical issues?  Did I do something wrong?! As an aside, you can do the same thing with the Bing Webmaster Tools by adding a CNAME record to bing.verify.com…  Instructions can be found on the ‘Add Site’ popup when adding your site. If you don’t have your own domain, but continued, to read to this point – thank you!

  • PHP SimpleXML recursive function to list children and attibutes

    - by Phill Pafford
    I need some help on the SimpleXML calls for a recursive function that lists the elements name and attributes. Making a XML config file system but each script will have it's own config file as well as a new naming convention. So what I need is an easy way to map out all the elements that have attributes, so like in example 1 I need a simple way to call all the processes but I don't know how to do this without hard coding the elements name is the function call. Is there a way to recursively call a function to match a child element name? I did see the xpath functionality but I don't see how to use this for attributes. Any ideas? Also does the XML in the examples look correct? can I structure my XML like this? Example 1: <application> <processes> <process id="123" name="run batch A" /> <process id="122" name="run batch B" /> <process id="129" name="run batch C" /> </processes> <connections> <databases> <database usr="test" pss="test" hst="test" dbn="test" /> </databases> <shells> <ssh usr="test" pss="test" hst="test-2" /> <ssh usr="test" pss="test" hst="test-1" /> </shells> </connections> </application> Example 2: <config> <queues> <queue id="1" name="test" /> <queue id="2" name="production" /> <queue id="3" name="error" /> </queues> </config> Pseudo code: // Would return matching process id getProcess($process_id) { return the process attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching DBN (database name) getDatabase($database_name) { return the database attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching SSH Host getSSHHost($ssh_host) { return the ssh attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching SSH User getSSHUser($ssh_user) { return the ssh attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching Queue getQueue($queue_id) { return the queue attributes as array that are in the XML } EDIT: Can I pass two parms? on the first method you have suggested @Gordon public function findProcessById($id, $name) { $attr = false; $el = $this->xml->xpath("//process[@id='$id']"); // How do I also filter by the name? if($el && count($el) === 1) { $attr = (array) $el[0]->attributes(); $attr = $attr['@attributes']; } return $attr; }

  • Convert Bitmap Files into JPEG using the GD library in PHP

    - by Daniel P
    I have been trying to figure out a way to convert bitmap files into a JPEG using the GD library in PHP. I have tried numerous implementations but nothing seems to work. I have tried to tell my client that they should not use Bitmap files but he insists and quite frankly does not comprehend enough about computers to convert them to JPG on his own. I can not use ImageMagick on this server and I need a pure GD solution. Thank you in advance for any and all help. EDIT: The bitmap images that are being used are 16-bit and that is where the problem is occurring. I have this function that I have working .... kinda: function ImageCreateFromBMP($filename) { if (! $f1 = fopen($filename,"rb")) return FALSE; $FILE = unpack("vfile_type/Vfile_size/Vreserved/Vbitmap_offset", fread($f1,14)); if ($FILE['file_type'] != 19778) return FALSE; $BMP = unpack('Vheader_size/Vwidth/Vheight/vplanes/vbits_per_pixel'. '/Vcompression/Vsize_bitmap/Vhoriz_resolution'. '/Vvert_resolution/Vcolors_used/Vcolors_important', fread($f1,40)); $BMP['colors'] = pow(2,$BMP['bits_per_pixel']); if ($BMP['size_bitmap'] == 0) $BMP['size_bitmap'] = $FILE['file_size'] - $FILE['bitmap_offset']; $BMP['bytes_per_pixel'] = $BMP['bits_per_pixel']/8; $BMP['bytes_per_pixel2'] = ceil($BMP['bytes_per_pixel']); $BMP['decal'] = ($BMP['width']*$BMP['bytes_per_pixel']/4); $BMP['decal'] -= floor($BMP['width']*$BMP['bytes_per_pixel']/4); $BMP['decal'] = 4-(4*$BMP['decal']); if ($BMP['decal'] == 4) $BMP['decal'] = 0; $PALETTE = array(); if ($BMP['colors'] < 16777216 && $BMP['colors'] != 65536) { $PALETTE = unpack('V'.$BMP['colors'], fread($f1,$BMP['colors']*4)); } $IMG = fread($f1,$BMP['size_bitmap']); $VIDE = chr(0); $res = imagecreatetruecolor($BMP['width'],$BMP['height']); $P = 0; $Y = $BMP['height']-1; while ($Y >= 0) { $X=0; while ($X < $BMP['width']) { if ($BMP['bits_per_pixel'] == 24) $COLOR = unpack("V",substr($IMG,$P,3).$VIDE); elseif ($BMP['bits_per_pixel'] == 16) { $COLOR = unpack("v",substr($IMG,$P,2)); $blue = ($COLOR[1] & 0x001f) << 3; $green = ($COLOR[1] & 0x07e0) >> 3; $red = ($COLOR[1] & 0xf800) >> 8; $COLOR[1] = $red * 65536 + $green * 256 + $blue; } elseif ($BMP['bits_per_pixel'] == 8) { $COLOR = unpack("n",$VIDE.substr($IMG,$P,1)); $COLOR[1] = $PALETTE[$COLOR[1]+1]; } elseif ($BMP['bits_per_pixel'] == 4) { $COLOR = unpack("n",$VIDE.substr($IMG,floor($P),1)); if (($P*2)%2 == 0) $COLOR[1] = ($COLOR[1] >> 4) ; else $COLOR[1] = ($COLOR[1] & 0x0F); $COLOR[1] = $PALETTE[$COLOR[1]+1]; } elseif ($BMP['bits_per_pixel'] == 1) { $COLOR = unpack("n",$VIDE.substr($IMG,floor($P),1)); if (($P*8)%8 == 0) $COLOR[1] = $COLOR[1] >>7; elseif (($P*8)%8 == 1) $COLOR[1] = ($COLOR[1] & 0x40)>>6; elseif (($P*8)%8 == 2) $COLOR[1] = ($COLOR[1] & 0x20)>>5; elseif (($P*8)%8 == 3) $COLOR[1] = ($COLOR[1] & 0x10)>>4; elseif (($P*8)%8 == 4) $COLOR[1] = ($COLOR[1] & 0x8)>>3; elseif (($P*8)%8 == 5) $COLOR[1] = ($COLOR[1] & 0x4)>>2; elseif (($P*8)%8 == 6) $COLOR[1] = ($COLOR[1] & 0x2)>>1; elseif (($P*8)%8 == 7) $COLOR[1] = ($COLOR[1] & 0x1); $COLOR[1] = $PALETTE[$COLOR[1]+1]; } else return FALSE; imagesetpixel($res,$X,$Y,$COLOR[1]); $X++; $P += $BMP['bytes_per_pixel']; } $Y--; $P+=$BMP['decal']; } fclose($f1); return $res; } The resulting image is this: If you look at the image on the left hand side you can see that the resulting image is not correctly lined up. The little sliver belongs on the right hand side. Where is the code going wrong? The problem is occurring in the 16-bit else-if. Thank you again for all the help.

  • PHP MVC Principles

    - by George
    I'm not using an off-the-shelf framework and don't particularly want to (nor d I want to go into the reasons why...). Anyway, onto my question(s), I hope it make sense.... I'm trying to get my head around what should go in the model and what should go in the controller. Originally I had the impression that a model class should represent an actual object (eg - a car from the cars table of a database) and model properties should mirror the database fields. However I'm now getting the feeling that I've got the wrong idea - should an instance of a model class represent an actual item, or should it contain a number of methods for doing stuff - sometimes to one car or sometimes to multiple cars based on my example earlier. For example I want to get all the cars from a the database and show them in the view. Am I right in think it should be along the lines of this? Controller File function list() { $cars = $this->model->get_all(); $this->view->add($cars); $this->view->render('cars-list'); } Model File function get_all() { // Use a database interaction class that I've written $cars = Database::select(); return $cars; } Now, if the car had a "status" field that was stored as an integer in the database and I wanted to change that to a string, where should that be done? By looping the SQL results array in the get_all() method in the model? Also, where should form validation live? I have written a validation class that works a little like this: $validator = new Validator(); $validator->check('field_name', 'required'); If the check fails, it adds an error message to the array in the Validator. This array of error messages would then get passed to the view. Should the use of my validator class go in model or the controller? Thanks in advance for for any help anyone can offer. If you know of any links to a simple MVC example / open source application that deals with basic CRUD, they would be much appreciated.

  • php , SimpleXML, while loop

    - by Michael
    I'm trying to get some information from ebay api and store it in database . I used simple xml to extract the information but I have a small issue as the information is not displayed for some items . if I make a print to the simple_xml I can see very well that the information is provided by ebay api . I have $items = "220617293997,250645537939,230485306218,110537213815,180519294810"; $number_of_items = count(explode(",", $items)); $xml = $baseClass->getContent("http://open.api.ebay.com/shopping?callname=GetMultipleItems&responseencoding=XML&appid=Morcovar-c74b-47c0-954f-463afb69a4b3&siteid=0&version=525&IncludeSelector=ItemSpecifics&ItemID=$items"); writeDoc($xml, "api.xml"); //echo $xml; $getvalues = simplexml_load_file('api.xml'); // print_r($getvalue); $number = "0"; while($number < 6) { $item_number = $getvalues->Item[$number]->ItemID; $location = $getvalues->Item[$number]->Location; $title = $getvalues->Item[$number]->Title; $price = $getvalues->Item[$number]->ConvertedCurrentPrice; $manufacturer = $getvalues->Item[$number]->ItemSpecifics->NameValueList[3]->Value; $model = $getvalues->Item[$number]->ItemSpecifics->NameValueList[4]->Value; $mileage = $getvalues->Item[$number]->ItemSpecifics->NameValueList[5]->Value; echo "item number = $item_number <br>localtion = $location<br>". "title = $title<br>price = $price<br>manufacturer = $manufacturer". "<br>model = $model<br>mileage = $mileage<br>"; $number++; } the above code returns item number = localtion = title = price = manufacturer = model = mileage = item number = 230485306218 localtion = Coventry, Warwickshire title = 2001 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER VOGUE AUTO GREEN price = 3635.07 manufacturer = Land Rover model = Range Rover mileage = 76000 item number = 220617293997 localtion = Crawley, West Sussex title = 2004 CITROEN C5 HDI LX RED price = 3115.77 manufacturer = Citroen model = C5 mileage = 76000 item number = 180519294810 localtion = London, London title = 2000 VOLKSWAGEN POLO 1.4 SILVER 16V NEED GEAR BOX price = 905.06 manufacturer = Right-hand drive model = mileage = Standard Car item number = localtion = title = price = manufacturer = model = mileage = As you can see the information is not retrieved for a few items ... If I replace the $number manually like " $item_number = $getvalues-Item[4]-ItemID;" works well for any number .

  • PHP: Condense array of similar strings into one merged array

    - by Matt Andrews
    Hi everyone. Working with an array of dates (opening times for a business). I want to condense them to their briefest possible form. So far, I started out with this structure Array ( [Mon] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Tue] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Wed] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Thu] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Sat] => 12noon-11pm [Sun] => 12noon-9:30pm ) What I want to achieve is this: Array ( [Mon-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Sat] => 12noon-11pm [Sun] => 12noon-9:30pm ) I've tried writing a recursive function and have managed to output this so far: Array ( [Mon-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Tue-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Wed-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Thu-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Sat] => 12noon-11pm [Sun] => 12noon-9:30pm ) Can anybody see a simple way of comparing the values and combining the keys where they're similar? My recursive function is basically two nested foreach() loops - not very elegant. Thanks, Matt EDIT: Here's my code so far, which produces the 3rd array above (from the first one as input): $last_time = array('t' => '', 'd' => ''); // blank array for looping $i = 0; foreach($final_times as $day=>$time) { if($last_time['t'] != $time ) { // it's a new time if($i != 0) { $print_times[] = $day . ' ' . $time; } // only print if it's not the first, otherwise we get two mondays } else { // this day has the same time as last time $end_day = $day; foreach($final_times as $day2=>$time2) { if($time == $time2) { $end_day = $day2; } } $print_times[] = $last_time['d'] . '-' . $end_day . ' ' . $time; } $last_time = array('t' => $time, 'd' => $day); $i++; }
