• SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise won't install on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise

  I've been trying to install SQL Server on a new Windows Server 2008. I have tried everything but I haven't been able to narrow down the problem. When the installation fails I get " Exit code (Decimal): -2068643839". The problem with this is that according to Microsoft this is a generic error code. I follow their guide to look into the detail.txt inside C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\ But I can't find something that specifies the exact error. Any suggestions ? • How do I create a Linked Server in SQL Server 2005 to a password protected Access 95 database?

  I need to create a linked server with SQL Server Management Studio 2005 to an Access 95 database, which happens to be password protected at the database level. User level security has not been implemented. I cannot convert the Access database to a newer version. It is being used by a 3rd party application; so modifying it, in any way, is not allowed. I've tried using the Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider and the ODBC OLE DB Provider. The 3rd party application creates a System DSN (with the proper database password), but I've not had any luck in using either method. If I were using a standard connection string, I think it would look something like this: Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source='C:\Test.mdb';Jet OLEDB:Database Password=####; I'm fairly certain I need to somehow incorporate Jet OLEDB:Database Password into the linked server setup, but haven't figured out how. I've posted the scripts I'm using along with the associated error messages below. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'll provide more details if needed, just ask. Thanks! • Upgrading log shipping from 2005 to 2008 or 2008R2

  If you're using log shipping you need to be aware of some small print. The general idea is to upgrade the secondary server first and then the primary server because you can continue to log ship from 2005 to 2008R2. But this won't work if you're keeping your secondary databases in STANDBY mode rather than IN RECOVERY. If you're using native log shipping you'll have some work to do. If you've rolled your own log shipping (ahem) you can convert a STANDBY database to IN RECOVERY like this:   restore database [dw]   with norecovery; and then change your restore code to use WITH NORECOVERY instead of WITH STANDBY. (Finally all that aggravation pays off!) You can either upgrade the secondary server in place or rebuild it. A secondary database doesn't actually get upgraded until you recover it so the log sequence chain is not broken and you can continue shipping from the primary. Just remember that it can take quite some time to upgrade a database so you need to factor that into the expectations you give people about how long it will take to fail over. • Using JPA 2.0 with WebLogic Server 10.3.4 and Eclipse

  Beginning in Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) 11.1.1.6.1, we introduced a new feature for WebLogic Server configuration called Server Extensions. Similar in concept to project facets, Server Extensions allow us to install additional technologies, libraries, configurations, etc into an existing server runtime. WebLogic Server 10.3.4 introduces new support for Java Persistence 2.0, the new JEE 6 standard entity access. In order to start developing JPA 2.0 applications with WebLogic Server 10.3.4, a SmartUpdate patch must be applied to add and configure the EclipseLink libraries. More information on the manual EclipseLink installation and configuration can be found here. OEPE provides a Server Extension for JPA 2.0, making the addition and configuration of JPA 2.0 and EclipseLink much easier. When defining a new WebLogic Server 10.3.4 configuration, simply click the Install link for Java Persistence 2.0 and OEPE will take care of the WebLogic Server enablement for JPA 2.0.

• Webmin and/or port 10000 not working

  I've recently installed Webmin on a Ubuntu server but I can't get it to work. I asked a recent question about saving iptables but it turns out you don't need to "save" iptables changes. Anyway, I still can't get Webmin working after opening the port up: iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 10000 -j ACCEPT It seems that either the command is not opening up port 10000, or there is a separate problem with Webmin. If I run iptables -L I see lines like the following, but no port 10000: ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:5555 state NEW ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:8002 state NEW ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:9001 state NEW However, there is a line: ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:webmin Any ideas why Webmin is not working? The IP address works fine and we can view web sites on the server, but https://[ip]:10000/ (or http) doesn't work.

• Open Port on Windows Server 2008

  I have an external server and I installed a new Service on it. The service is running and I can access it locally. When I tried to get access to it locally, all worked just fine. but when I try to reach it from my laptop over the internet, I get the message, that the port is blocked. I added a rule to the windows firewall that all connections to that port are allowed but it still doesnt work. there is so many things in google that didnt help me, thats why I am asking specifically. I do acutally not know how to google for that right because i am not that into server configs and so on. Can anybody help me, what I have to do, to be able to access that port? From outside.

What am I missing? (This is a CentOS-based VM.)

• Sharepoint site settings add on ssl port number?

  WSS 3.0 IIS6/WinSever2003 CAG We have several WSS sites on a SharePoint WSS box that talk to the outside, all of which are SSL enabled. So you get a CAG(Citrix Access Gateway) to translate the 443 port to the local ssl port on the server. Everything is set up and works fine until you get into the Site Settings and start rooting around, it seems like a very unstable link library. Links will try to use the local ssl port number instead of the 443 standard; it will try to skip the step. Is that the site? Any ideas on how to fix it?

  I use Avaya Reporting Services and OpenLink ODBC Drivers for db connection. I know that it uses port 5000 for handshaking but after that I believe it uses an random port for communication. I want to deploy my application and it will communicate with the client's system in their datacenter. They are asking what ports should they open on their firewalls. I can't obviously give them a range above 50,000 that I know OpenLink ODBC Drivers use. Can someone tell me what port should I tell my client to open?

• RabbitMQ message broker unable to open unused port 61613

  On a Windows Vista system, RabbitMQ fails to open port 61613 which is not used (as netstat and TCPView show). The server log indicates that it is possible to bind port 5672, but the next lines show the problem with port 61613. I have cleared all firewall settings and rebooted. Several times in the past this helped to solve the problem. • How to browse to a webserver which is reachable through the SSH port only

  I have a server at work which is behind a firewall (the company's firewall) so it is reachable only thrugh port 22 (SSH). I'm able to connect to the server with putty without problems. Also, that server has Apache running and listening on port 80 as usual. But I cant connect to the website using my browser since port 80 (and everyone else) is blocked by the company's firewall. Is there a way I can make my browser to connect to Apache in that server so I can browse the site I'm working on? Thanks.

  I'm trying to connect to a PostgreSQL database hosted on a Win7 guest from a Win7 host. I've configured security in pg_hba.conf host all all 127.0.0.1/32 md5 host all all 10.0.2.15/32 md5 host all all 192.168.1.6/32 md5 and set the listen_addresses setting in postgresql.conf to '*'. I think I've set up port forwarding correctly as I see: Key: VBoxInternal/Devices/e1000/0/LUN#0/Config/win7_vm1/GuestPort, Value: 5432 Key: VBoxInternal/Devices/e1000/0/LUN#0/Config/win7_vm1/HostPort, Value: 5432 Key: VBoxInternal/Devices/e1000/0/LUN#0/Config/win7_vm1/Protocol, Value: TCP when I call getextradata. This is similar to http://serverfault.com/questions/106168/cant-connect-to-postgresql-on-virtualbox-guest but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. In the vbox.log file I see: 00:00:01.019 NAT: set redirect TCP host port 5432 = guest port 5432 @ 10.0.2.15 00:00:01.033 NAT: failed to redirect TCP 5432 = 5432 but I'm not sure how to fix that. Any ideas? Thanks.

  Hii all i am trying to change the port no of my tomcat server installed in ubuntu. for this i have changed the file server.xml and made a change there as: <Connector port="8081" protocol="HTTP/1.1" connectionTimeout="20000" URIEncoding="UTF-8" redirectPort="8443" /> But the problem is that whenever i try to open the localhost:8081 it is working fine but when i tried to open localhost:8080 then it is still accessible. So please explain this why this is happening. Secondly when i made the default port to 80 then localhost:80 or localhost then it was not accessible. So please explain this why this is happening.   I have a IIS 7 server with Plesk setup on a Windows 2008 R2 server and I have created a subdomain sub1.domain.com, which by default leads to my webserver on port 80, but I don't want that. I want the subdomain to lead to my port 25566 instead (for a Minecraft server), how can I accomplish this? I tried this with host headers / bindings but that resulted in a port already in use warning. How can I do this? How can I make my sub1.domain.com lead to IP.IP.IP.IP:25566? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any idea what I have done wrong?
