  • Dojo slider: update value dynamically

    I am building an application where the user browses certain objects by scrolling and zooming. To change the zoom level I have successfully implemented a "dijit.form.HorizontalSlider" object. Every time the user changes the position of the silder, I can catch the "onChange" call and do something with that. However, the user can also zoom-in by double clicking inside the view zone, at which point the slider should change position automatically to reflect the new zoom level. My question is the following: what function or method should I call in my javascript to update the position of a dojo silder ?   • Slow form submission.

    When I submit a form, I can see my browser's progress bar slowly increased, it takes 4-6s to submit a form. It was a generic form like : <form id="someid" name="someName" action="someAction.do"> ... </form> I test it in IE8 and Firefox 3,both are very slow. My network condition is fine, my server works great. What could be the problem?

  • url rewriting + Asp.Net Login Form = Death

    Hi, on our site we do url rewriting to generate massive amounts of database generated pages. on every page, there is a Login control for users. like this: Internal aspx page: /DB.aspx?id=123 User visible url: /ABC/123.aspx, /ABC/456.aspx ... (url rewritten) unfortunately, the tag on each page has an action attribute of "DB.aspx?id=123". when the user clicks the button the browser is posting to /ABC/DB.aspx?id=123 which of course does not exist. solutions i tried: 1. change the action attribute by subclassing HtmlForm. this destroys the all other forms on the site. 2. remove the action attribute (so that the browser is always posting to the same url). this works on the rewritten pages but on "/" (the default.aspx in the root dir) i get a message that the verb post is not allowed on "/" (iis 6 and i have no control over mappings) anybody?

  • Drop shadow on a div container?

    I have a searchbox with auto-suggest that pops a div up underneath it with multiple search string suggestions (like google). Is it possible to have drop shadow on the auto-suggest box with CSS or will I need a script of some sort? I tried a background image but the number of suggests can vary from 1 to 10 or 15. I'd prefer something that works in IE6+ and FF2+ if possible. Thanks!

    I've got 2 dropdownboxes. Dropdownbox 1 shows all the tables from a database. When dropdownbox 1 is selected; dropdownbox 2 will be populated with tablefields from the selected table. dropdownbox 1: This dropdown is populated with the following mysql query: "show tables from testdb" dropdownbox 2: This dropdown will auto populate when dropdownbox 1 is selected. Dropdownbox 2 will be populate with the following query: "describe tablename" //tablename selected from dropdownbox 1 I want to make this using jquery. Can anyone point me into the right direction?

  • IE7 ignoring margin in a div following an absolute positioned div

    I have two divs inside a container, the first one has absolute positioning. In ie7, the second div apparently ignores the top margin. Padding seems to work fine, but for visual reasons I have to use margin. I know the culprit is the absolute positioned div because if i remove it the following div works fine. This is only happening in ie7 (not even in ie6). Help! Edit: I just found a solution which consists of giving the parent div padding-top just for ie7. So I would just like to know why does this happen, and if there is one, a cleaner solution, but I dont need more dirty hacks..

  • Is a "Confirm Email" input good practice when user changes email address?

    My organization has a form to allow users to update their email address with us. It's suggested that we have two input boxes for email: the second as an email confirmation. I always copy/paste my email address when faced with the confirmation. I'm assuming most of our users are not so savvy. Regardless, is this considered a good practice? I can't stand it personally, but I also realize it probably isn't meant for me. If someone screws up their email, they can't login, and they must call to sort things out.

    I have form below which contains a text field and a button. when i start typing it shows hints from my database and on clicking button or hiting enter key it displys search results. ajax technology is used for both hints and search results and it is working well but THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT WORKS ONLY THE FIRST TIME PAGE LOADS OR ONLY AFTER REFRESHING THE PAGE.     I am looking for a place where I can download a bunch of CSS stylesheets to change the appearance of my titles, links, paragraphs, etc. I am not an artist, so I am hoping to leverage other people's skills in choosing the right fonts, colors, sizes, etc. I do not want to include layout because then it won't be as generic. Does anyone know where I can get something like this?
