Problem with comparing value with array values

Facebook fbAsyncInit firing twice

I'm using Facebook's Javascript SDK to allow login/logout, and my problem is that when I use their window.fbAsyncInit call to initiate the FB session, it always fires twice. I've included a simplified code sample. Scheduling a Delay Job on Heroku with a Worker Dyno

I'm currently using Heroku's scheduler to run a script. However, the time that the script takes to run is going to increase from a few milliseconds to a few minutes. I'm looking at using the delayed_job gem to push this process off to a Worker Dyno. I want to continue to run this script once-a-day, just offload it to the worker. My current rake task is: desc "This task updates some stuff for you." task :update_some_stuff => :environment do puts "Updating some stuff ..." SomeClass.new.process puts "... done." end Once the gem is installed, migration run, and worker dyno started, will the script just need to change to: desc "This task updates some stuff for you." task :update_some_stuff => :environment do puts "Updating some stuff ..." SomeClass.new.delay.process puts "... done." end With this task still being a rake task scheduled by Heroku's Scheduler, is the only thing that needs to happen here the introduction of the delay method to put this in the Worker's queue? Are there any scripts or IDE wizards which can assist a programmer to create php forms quickly and also give the programmer flexibility to customize the form easily? I found some webservices which provide such services but they are mostly oriented towards non-programmers and the forms they generate are not easily customizable and do not support all kinds of functionalities. Javascript function with PHP throwing a "Illegally Formed XML Syntax" error

I'm trying to learn some javascript and i'm having trouble figuring out why my code is incorrect (i'm sure i'm doing something wrong lol), but anyways I am trying to create a login page so that when the form is submitted javascript will call a function that checks if the login is in a mysql database and then checks the validity of the password for the user if they exist. however I am getting an error (Illegally Formed XML Syntax) i cannot resolve. KO3: How to deal with stylesheets and scriptfiles

I'm using Kohana 3 and it's template controller. The problem is that it requires the style- and script files to be added in the controller, which shouldn't really have to care about those. It also makes it a hassle if the views are done by someone else than me since they would have to fool around with the controller just to add a new stylesheet or a new script file. How can this be done in a better way? Just to clearify, what I am wondering is how to deal with page specific stylesheets and scripts. The default and site-wide ones I have no problem with fetching from a config file or just put directly in the template view. My issue is how to add custom ones for specific pages in a good way.

How to feed an xml database with tags obtained thru html forms ?

Hello! Not a programmer, I begin with xml, html forms and xslt on Mac. I plan to use a form to post short texts in a xhtml page and invite end users to add some annotations to the said text. The users would select a specific part of the text posted and each annotation would stand for one specific chain of characters. My goal is to consolidate the tags obtained from various user's annotations to one xml "knowledge base" containing the original text with all the revision indicators. Then I plan to use xslt sheets to product various reports based on the tags obtained. my two questions are : 1- am I dreaming ? Is it really possible to do that with xml, xforms, xslt without using java, php, ajax or other seasoned programmer's tools ? 2- What should be my focus for further explorations aiming in that direction ? Is using advanced constructs (function, new, function calls) in JSON safe?

JSON is a nice way to pass complex data from my server side code to client side JavaScript. But according to JSON.org such syntax is invalid. On the other hand, I've seen this syntax being used in very many places, including some popular JavaScript frameworks. So... Run Jmol applet using apache server

I am a newbie in using apache and jmol. I am trying to run a jmol applet in python using apache server. Because of strict folder arrangement restrictions in jmol (html and model files should be present inside jmol folder), I had to move the default htdocs and cgi-bin folder inside jmol folder by editing the "httd.conf" file. Now the new location of htdocs folder is "Apache2.2/jmol/htdocs" and of cgi-bin folder is "Apache2.2/jmol/cgi-bin". Now I've put my "start.html" file in the htdocs folder which has the jmol applet tag. It takes "CA150.XYZ" file which is also placed in the same folder. On running this "start.html" file through apache server, nothing happens. It even doesn't give any error, it just shows a blank page. But if I try to run "start.html" without apache server, jmol applet do get executed and runs successfully. What am I doing wrong? Any idea? Primary language - QtC++, C#, Java?

I'm looking for some input, but let me start with a bit of background (for tl;dr skip to end). I'm an IT major with a concentration in networking. While I'm not a CS major nor do I want to program as a vocation, I do consider myself a programmer and do pretty well with the concepts involved. I've been programming since about 6th grade, started out with a proprietary game creation language that made my transition into C++ at college pretty easy. I like to make programs for myself and friends, and have been paid to program for local businesses. A bit about that- I wrote some programs for a couple local businesses in my senior year in high school. I wrote management systems for local shops (inventory, phone/pos orders, timeclock, customer info, and more stuff I can't remember). It definitely turned out to be over my head, as I had never had any formal programming education. It was a great learning experience, but damn was it crappy code. Oh yeah, by the way, it was all vb6. So, I've used vb6 pretty extensively, I've used c++ in my classes (intro to programming up to algorithms), used Java a little bit in another class (had to write a ping client program, pretty easy) and used Java for some simple Project Euler problems to help learn syntax and such when writing the program for the class. I've also used C# a bit for my own simple personal projects (simple programs, one which would just generate an HTTP request on a list of websites and notify if one responded unexpectedly or not at all, and another which just held a list of things to do and periodically reminded me to do them), things I would've written in vb6 a year or two ago. I've just started using Qt C++ for some undergrad research I'm working on. Now I've had some formal education, I [think I] understand organization in programming a lot better (I didn't even use classes in my vb6 programs where I really should have), how it's important to structure code, split into functions where appropriate, document properly, efficiency both in memory and speed, dynamic and modular programming etc. I was looking for some input on which language to pick up as my "primary". As I'm not a "real programmer", it will be mostly hobby projects, but will include some 'real' projects I'm sure. From my perspective: QtC++ and Java are cross platform, which is cool. Java and C# run in a virtual machine, but I'm not sure if that's a big deal (something extra to distribute, possibly a bit slower? I think Qt would require additional distributables too, right?). I don't really know too much more than this, so I appreciate any help, thanks! TL;DR Am an avocational programmer looking for a language, want quick and straight forward development, liked vb6, will be working with database driven GUI apps- should I go with QtC++, Java, C#, or perhaps something else?

[php] Firefox refreshes page 1, even after redirection to page 2

Hi! This is a quite weird and annoying problem, which is reproduced with the script below. Say we have two pages: script.php and script.php?second. Page 1 creates some database entries and redirects to page 2. On page 2, the user is presented with an editor for said entries. If page 1 for some reason crashes on the first try, and prints some error message, a strange thing will happend. If we refresh page 1 (and this time it redirects fine), every consecutive refresh (of page 2) will actually refresh page 1 and again redirect to page 2. Is there a way to reload the page after <fb:like> is clicked?

Hi, I'm wondering about this: I have a simple facebook-connect app that will only show certain content after you login and liked a certain page. It works (huzzah!) but I want to make it more user friendly by making it refresh automatically after you pressed the like button.
