  • What's an acceptable "Avg. Page Load Time"?

    - by hawbsl
Is there any industry rule of thumb for what's considered an unacceptable load time v. an OK one v. a blistering fast one? We're just reviewing some Google Analytics data and getting 0.74 Avg. Page Load Time reported. I guess that's OK. However it would be good if some meatier comparison data were available, or a blog post, or somewhere where there's some analysis of what speeds are generally being achieved by various kinds of sites. Any useful links to help someone interpret these speeds? If you Google it you just get a lot of results dealing with how to improve your speed. We're not at that stage yet.

  • Average of Average in one row

    - by asrijaal
Hi there, I'm not sure if this is possible what I'm trying to achieve. I want to get the avg of averaged columns. SELECT avg(col1), avg(col2), avg(col3) FROM tbl My Result should be the avg of all three avg columns, is this possible? Something like this SELECT avg( col1, col2, col3) FROM tbl doesn't work at MySQL 5.1

  • Mysql performance problem & Failed DIMM

    - by murdoch
Hi I have a dedicated mysql database server which has been having some performance problems recently, under normal load the server will be running fine, then suddenly out of the blue the performance will fall off a cliff. The server isn't using the swap file and there is 12GB of RAM in the server, more than enough for its needs. After contacting my hosting comapnies support they have discovered that there is a failed 2GB DIMM in the server and have scheduled to replace it tomorow morning. My question is could a failed DIMM result in the performance problems I am seeing or is this just coincidence? My worry is that they will replace the ram tomorrow but the problems will persist and I will still be lost of explanations so I am just trying to think ahead. The reason I ask is that there is plenty of RAM in the server, more than required and simply missing 2GB should be a problem, so if this failed DIMM is causing these performance problems then the OS must be trying to access the failed DIMM and slowing down as a result. Does that sound like a credible explanation? This is what DELLs omreport program says about the RAM, notice one dimm is "Critical" Memory Information Health : Critical Memory Operating Mode Fail Over State : Inactive Memory Operating Mode • NFS performance troubleshooting

    - by aix
I am troubleshooting NFS performance issues on Linux, and I'm looking at the following nfsiostat output: host:/path mounted on /path: op/s rpc bklog 96.75 0.01 read: ops/s kB/s kB/op retrans avg RTT (ms) avg exe (ms) 86.561 1408.294 16.269 0 (0.0%) 34.595 89.688 write: ops/s kB/s kB/op retrans avg RTT (ms) avg exe (ms) 10.113 326.282 32.265 0 (0.0%) 19.688 72446.246 What exactly is the meaning of avg RTT (ms) and avg exe (ms)? avg exe for writes is 72 seconds(!) -- would you say this is abnormal and, if so, how do I go about troubleshooting this further? I'm using NFS over TCP. Both the client and the server are on the same GigE LAN.

  • Why "Estimated Avg. CPC" changes when using multiple phrases in Google's Traffic Estimator?

    - by Misha Moroshko
I use Google's Traffic Estimator to calculate the Estimated Average Cost Per Click. I use the following filters: Locations: Australia Languages: English Max CPC = $10000 (just for this example) When I enter the following phrases: air conditioner melbourne air conditioning melbourne the result is: air conditioning melbourne: AU$6.53 air conditioner melbourne: AU$5.97 But, when I use a single phrase: air conditioner melbourne the result is: air conditioner melbourne: AU$6.22 Why is this difference?

  • Extracting numeric value from output of a uder defined aggregate in netezza using bash script

    - by Ankit
I am executing a shell script to execute my user defined aggregate which is taking inputs yavg=nzsql -c 'select avg(x) from Input1' which is giving output like this AVG ---------- 2.000000 (1 row) I want to pass only the numeric(double) value which is 2.0000(where xavg is expected) from this to S4(x,y,$xavg,$yavg) where x and y are the whole column from table Input1, xavg=nzsql -c 'select avg(y) from Input1' Below is my InputTable.txt which is a text file from which I am popluating my "Input1" table in the shell script. 1 2 3 2 1 2 3 2 1 nzsql -c 'create table Input1(x integer, y integer, v integer)' nzload -t Input1 -df InputTable.txt nzsql -c 'select * from Input1 yavg=`nzsql -c 'select avg(x) from Input1'` xavg=`nzsql -c 'select avg(y) from Input1' nzsql -c 'select S4(x,y,$xavg,$yavg) from test' Below is the output : xavg := AVG ---------- 2.000000 (1 row) yavg := AVG ---------- 1.666667 (1 row) and i am passing this value to S4(x,y,$xavg,$yavg) which is a User defined aggregate

  • MySQL: Is it possible to compute MAX( AVG (field) )?

    - by Brad
My current query reads: SELECT entry_id, user_id, cat_id, AVG( rating ) as avg_rate FROM entry_rate WHERE 1 GROUP BY entry_id cat_id relates to different categories: 1, 2, 3 or 4 Is there a way I can find the maximum average for each user in each category without setting up an additional table? The return could potentially be 4 maximum avg_rate for each user_id Visit the link below for example: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_rvDQuhTddnc/S8Os_77qR9I/AAAAAAAAA2M/IPmzNeYjfCA/s800/table1.jpg

  • SQL with codition on calculated value

    - by user619893
I have a table with products, their amount and their price. I need to select all entries where the average price per article is between a range. My query so far: SELECT productid,AVG(SUM(price)/SUM(amount)) AS avg FROM stock WHERE avg=$from AND avg<=$to GROUP BY productid If do this, it tells me avg doesnt exist. Also i obviously need to group by because the sum and average need to be per wine

  • Does the JPQL avg aggregate function work with Integers?

    - by Kyle Renfro
I have a JPA 2 Entity named Surgery. It has a member named transfusionUnits that is an Integer. There are two entries in the database. Executing this JPQL statement: Select s.transfusionUnits from Surgery s produces the expected result: 2 3 The following statement produces the expected answer of 5: Select sum(s.transfusionUnits) from Surgery s I expect the answer of the following statement to be 2.5, but it returns 2.0 instead. Select avg(s.transfusionUnits) from Surgery s If I execute the statement on a different (Float) member, the result is correct. Any ideas on why this is happening? Do I need to do some sort of cast in JPQL? Is this even possible? Surely I am missing something trivial here.

  • My program is getting a false positive from AVG.

    - by JimDel
My program is getting a false positive from AVG. Its just our companies branded version of Ultra VNC. Its only this one company that's identifying it as a virus and we've been using the same copy of that program for almost a year. I know its possible to tell this Anti Virus program the VNC client is safe, but I can't do that for all of our clients. I've tried to find a way to contact this company to see if they can do something to prevent this from happening, but I'm not getting anywhere. Has anyone who's experienced this issue with their software, found a solution? Thanks

  • How to create a simple adf dashboard application with EJB 3.0

    - by Rodrigues, Raphael
In this month's Oracle Magazine, Frank Nimphius wrote a very good article about an Oracle ADF Faces dashboard application to support persistent user personalization. You can read this entire article clicking here. The idea in this article is to extend the dashboard application. My idea here is to create a similar dashboard application, but instead ADF BC model layer, I'm intending to use EJB3.0. There are just a one small trick here and I'll show you. I'm using the HR usual oracle schema. The steps are: 1. Create a ADF Fusion Application with EJB as a layer model 2. Generate the entities from table (I'm using Department and Employees only) 3. Create a new Session Bean. I called it: HRSessionEJB 4. Create a new method like that: public List getAllDepartmentsHavingEmployees(){ JpaEntityManager jpaEntityManager = (JpaEntityManager)em.getDelegate(); Query query = jpaEntityManager.createNamedQuery("Departments.allDepartmentsHavingEmployees"); JavaBeanResult.setQueryResultClass(query, AggregatedDepartment.class); return query.getResultList(); } 5. In the Departments entity, create a new native query annotation: @Entity @NamedQueries( { @NamedQuery(name = "Departments.findAll", query = "select o from Departments o") }) @NamedNativeQueries({ @NamedNativeQuery(name="Departments.allDepartmentsHavingEmployees", query = "select e.department_id, d.department_name , sum(e.salary), avg(e.salary) , max(e.salary), min(e.salary) from departments d , employees e where d.department_id = e.department_id group by e.department_id, d.department_name")}) public class Departments implements Serializable {...} 6. Create a new POJO called AggregatedDepartment: package oramag.sample.dashboard.model; import java.io.Serializable; import java.math.BigDecimal; public class AggregatedDepartment implements Serializable{ @SuppressWarnings("compatibility:5167698678781240729") private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; private BigDecimal departmentId; private String departmentName; private BigDecimal sum; private BigDecimal avg; private BigDecimal max; private BigDecimal min; public AggregatedDepartment() { super(); } public AggregatedDepartment(BigDecimal departmentId, String departmentName, BigDecimal sum, BigDecimal avg, BigDecimal max, BigDecimal min) { super(); this.departmentId = departmentId; this.departmentName = departmentName; this.sum = sum; this.avg = avg; this.max = max; this.min = min; } public void setDepartmentId(BigDecimal departmentId) { this.departmentId = departmentId; } public BigDecimal getDepartmentId() { return departmentId; } public void setDepartmentName(String departmentName) { this.departmentName = departmentName; } public String getDepartmentName() { return departmentName; } public void setSum(BigDecimal sum) { this.sum = sum; } public BigDecimal getSum() { return sum; } public void setAvg(BigDecimal avg) { this.avg = avg; } public BigDecimal getAvg() { return avg; } public void setMax(BigDecimal max) { this.max = max; } public BigDecimal getMax() { return max; } public void setMin(BigDecimal min) { this.min = min; } public BigDecimal getMin() { return min; } } 7. Create the util java class called JavaBeanResult. The function of this class is to configure a native SQL query to return POJOs in a single line of code using the utility class. • AMD 24 core server memory bandwidth

    - by ntherning
I need some help to determine whether the memory bandwidth I'm seeing under Linux on my server is normal or not. Here's the server spec: HP ProLiant DL165 G7 2x AMD Opteron 6164 HE 12-Core 40 GB RAM (10 x 4GB DDR1333) Debian 6.0 Using mbw on this server I get the following numbers: foo1:~# mbw -n 3 1024 Long uses 8 bytes. • In SQL, what does Group By mean without Count(*), or Sum(), Max(), avg(), ..., and what are some use

    In SQL, if we use Group By without Count(*) or Sum(), etc, then the result is as follows: mysql> select * from sentGifts; +--------+------------+--------+------+---------------------+--------+ | sentID | whenSent | fromID | toID | trytryWhen | giftID | +--------+------------+--------+------+---------------------+--------+ | 1 | 2010-04-24 | 123 | 456 | 2010-04-24 01:52:20 | 100 | | 2 | 2010-04-24 | 123 | 4568 | 2010-04-24 01:56:04 | 100 | | 3 | 2010-04-24 | 123 | NULL | NULL | 1 | | 4 | 2010-04-24 | NULL | 111 | 2010-04-24 03:10:42 | 2 | | 5 | 2010-03-03 | 11 | 22 | 2010-03-03 00:00:00 | 6 | | 6 | 2010-04-24 | 11 | 222 | 2010-04-24 03:54:49 | 6 | | 7 | 2010-04-24 | 1 | 2 | 2010-04-24 03:58:45 | 6 | +--------+------------+--------+------+---------------------+--------+ 7 rows in set (0.00 sec) mysql> select *, count(*) from sentGifts group by whenSent; +--------+------------+--------+------+---------------------+--------+----------+ | sentID | whenSent | fromID | toID | trytryWhen | giftID | count(*) | +--------+------------+--------+------+---------------------+--------+----------+ | 5 | 2010-03-03 | 11 | 22 | 2010-03-03 00:00:00 | 6 | 1 | | 1 | 2010-04-24 | 123 | 456 | 2010-04-24 01:52:20 | 100 | 6 | +--------+------------+--------+------+---------------------+--------+----------+ 2 rows in set (0.00 sec) mysql> select * from sentGifts group by whenSent; +--------+------------+--------+------+---------------------+--------+ | sentID | whenSent | fromID | toID | trytryWhen | giftID | +--------+------------+--------+------+---------------------+--------+ | 5 | 2010-03-03 | 11 | 22 | 2010-03-03 00:00:00 | 6 | | 1 | 2010-04-24 | 123 | 456 | 2010-04-24 01:52:20 | 100 | +--------+------------+--------+------+---------------------+--------+ 2 rows in set (0.00 sec) Only 1 row is returned per "group". What does it mean when there is no "Count(*)", etc when using "Group By", and what are it uses? thanks.

  • Is it a good Idea to switch to a SSD to use less battery?

    - by Walter Maier-Murdnelch
I am thinking of buying a SSD for my laptop, mainly for the purpose of extended operating time when running on battery. At the moment I use a Hitachi HTS545032B9A300 (320GB) (Datasheet) as main drive and a Seagate Momentus 5400.3 120GB as secondary drive. I dualboot Windows and Linux but I don't need the windows partition any longer, a 120GB SDD would be more than sufficient space-wise. Speed is not an issue for me, I make heavy use of tmpfs (ramdrive) within Linux and transfers of bigger files are mainly through some network filesystem anyways, thus a cheaper SSD should do. For the purpose of comparison I chose the OCZ Vertex Plus 120GB. Power consumption always is a big promotional thing the industry uses to make me want to buy their SSDs, some sheet on the OCZ page provides an astonishing comparison of desktop HDDS and SSDs. The numbers I got comparing my laptop HDD and their SSD were not really astonishing any longer. Hitachi 320GB HDD: Startup (W, peak, max.) 4.5 Seek (W, avg.) 1.7 Read / Write (W, avg.) 1.4 Performance idle (W, avg.) 1.3 Active idle (W, avg.) 0.8 Low power idle (W, avg.) 0.5 Standby (W, avg.) 0.2 Sleep 0.1 OCZ 120GB SSD: 1.5W active 0.3W standby I see that there are differences, but actually they don't seem that high as I though they were. And compared to the power consuption of the rest of my system I wonder if it makes a difference at all. Have I just taken the wrong look at the whole thing or may I be better off to buy another battery for my laptop?

  • ORA-00937 error during select subquery

    - by RedRaven
I am attempting to write a query that returns the the number of employees, the average salary, and the number of employees paid below the average. The query I have so far is: select trunc(avg(salary)) "Average Pay", count(salary) "Total Employees", ( select count(salary) from employees where salary < (select avg(salary) from employees) ) UnderPaid from employees; But when I run this I get the ora-00937 error in the subquery. I had thought that maybe the "count" function is what is causing the issue, but even running a simpler sub query such as: select trunc(avg(salary)) "Average Pay", count(salary) "Total Employees", ( select avg(salary) from employees ) UnderPaid from employees; still returns the same error. As both AVG and COUNT seem to be aggregate functions, I'm not sure why I'm getting the error? Thanks

  • Regex to find the text without a special character

    - by Hunter
I have a paragraph, in that, some of the texts are surrounded with a specific html tag. I need to to find the text which are not surrounded by that specific html tag. For example AVG Antivirus for Smartphones and Tablets detects harmful apps and SMS. <font color='black'>AVG</font> Mobilation™ AntiVirus Pro for Android™ is a mobile security solution that helps protect your mobile device from viruses, malware, spyware and online exploitation in real-time. avg blah blah... I want to find the word AVG (case insensitive) which is not surrounded by <font color='black'> </font>. It can be part the word or single whole word. In the case of part of the text, the whole word containing the word AVG should not surrounded by that html tag How can I do it with Java?

  • Expanding on requestaudit - Tracing who is doing what...and for how long

    - by Kyle Hatlestad
One of the most helpful tracing sections in WebCenter Content (and one that is on by default) is the requestaudit tracing.  This tracing section summarizes the top service requests happening in the server along with how they are performing.  By default, it has 2 different rotations.  One happens every 2 minutes (listing up to 5 services) and another happens every 60 minutes (listing up to 20 services).  These traces provide the total time for all the requests against that service along with the number of requests and its average request time.  This information can provide a good start in possibly troubleshooting performance issues or tracking a particular issue.   >requestaudit/6 12.10 16:48:00.493 Audit Request Monitor !csMonitorTotalRequests,47,1,0.39009329676628113,0.21034042537212372,1>requestaudit/6 12.10 16:48:00.509 Audit Request Monitor Request Audit Report over the last 120 Seconds for server wcc-base_4444****requestaudit/6 12.10 16:48:00.509 Audit Request Monitor -Num Requests 47 Errors 1 Reqs/sec. 0.39009329676628113 Avg. I also recently ran into the case where services were being called from a client through RIDC.  All of the services were being executed as the same user, but they wanted to correlate the requests coming from the client to the ones being executed on the server.  So what we did was add a new field to the request audit list: RequestAuditAdditionalVerboseFieldsList=ClientToken And then in the RIDC client, ClientToken was added to the binder along with a unique value that could be traced for that request.  Now they had a way of tracing on both ends and identifying exactly which client request resulted in which request on the server.

  • Parameterized StreamInsight Queries

    - by Roman Schindlauer
The changes in our APIs enable a set of scenarios that were either not possible before or could only be achieved through workarounds. One such use case that people ask about frequently is the ability to parameterize a query and instantiate it with different values instead of re-deploying the entire statement. I’ll demonstrate how to do this in StreamInsight 2.1 and combine it with a method of using subjects for dynamic query composition in a mini-series of (at least) two blog articles. Let’s start with something really simple: I want to deploy a windowed aggregate to a StreamInsight server, and later use it with different window sizes. The LINQ statement for such an aggregate is very straightforward and familiar: var result = from win in stream.TumblingWindow(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(5))               select win.Avg(e => e.Value); Obviously, we had to use an existing input stream object as well as a concrete TimeSpan value. If we want to be able to re-use this construct, we can define it as a IQStreamable: var avg = myApp     .DefineStreamable((IQStreamable<SourcePayload> s, TimeSpan w) =>         from win in s.TumblingWindow(w)         select win.Avg(e => e.Value)); The DefineStreamable API lets us define a function, in our case from a IQStreamable (the input stream) and a TimeSpan (the window length) to an IQStreamable (the result). We can then use it like a function, with the input stream and the window length as parameters: var result = avg(stream, TimeSpan.FromSeconds(5)); Nice, but you might ask: what does this save me, except from writing my own extension method? Well, in addition to defining the IQStreamable function, you can actually deploy it to the server, to make it re-usable by another process! When we deploy an artifact in V2.1, we give it a name: var avg = myApp     .DefineStreamable((IQStreamable<SourcePayload> s, TimeSpan w) =>         from win in s.TumblingWindow(w)         select win.Avg(e => e.Value))     .Deploy("AverageQuery"); When connected to the same server, we can now use that name to retrieve the IQStreamable and use it with our own parameters: var averageQuery = myApp     .GetStreamable<IQStreamable<SourcePayload>, TimeSpan, double>("AverageQuery"); var result = averageQuery(stream, TimeSpan.FromSeconds(5)); Convenient, isn’t it? Keep in mind that, even though the function “AverageQuery” is deployed to the server, its logic will still be instantiated into each process when the process is created. The advantage here is being able to deploy that function, so another client who wants to use it doesn’t need to ask the author for the code or assembly, but just needs to know the name of deployed entity. A few words on the function signature of GetStreamable: the last type parameter (here: double) is the payload type of the result, not the actual result stream’s type itself. The returned object is a function from IQStreamable<SourcePayload> and TimeSpan to IQStreamable<double>. In the next article we will integrate this usage of IQStreamables with Subjects in StreamInsight, so stay tuned! Regards, The StreamInsight Team

  • Calculating moving average/stdev in SAS?

    - by John
Hye guys, I included a screenshot to help clarify my problem: http://i40.tinypic.com/mcrnmv.jpg. I'm trying to calculate some kind of moving average and moving standard deviation. The thing is I want to calculate the coefficients of variation (stdev/avg) for the actual value. Normally this is done by calculating the stdev and avg for the past 5 years. However sometimes there will be observations in my database for which I do not have the information of the past 5 years (maybe only 3, 2 etc). That's why i want a code that will calculate the avg and stdev even if there is no information for the whole 5 years. Also, as you see in the observations, sometimes I have information over more than 5 years, when this is the case I need some kind of moving average which allows me to calculate the avg and stdev for the past 5 year. So if a company has information for 7 years I need some kind of code that will calculate the avg and stdev for, lets say, 1997 (by 1991-1996), 1998 (by 1992-1997) and 1999 (1993-1998). As i'm not very familiar with sas commands it should look (very very roughly) like: set var if year = i then stdev=stdev(year(i-6) untill year(i-1)) and average = avg(year(i-6) untill year(i-1)) Or something like this, I really have no clue, I'm gonna try and figure it out but it's worth posting it if I won't find it myself. Thanks!
