• How do I stop track changes from turning on automatically in Word 2007

  Whenever I open an existing document in Word 2007 (on Windows XP), word turns on track changes, and changes the display mode to "Final" (that is, not "Final Showing Markup" -- so I often don't even notice track changes is on if I don't remember to pay attention. This happens for ALL existing documents, and doesn't happen for new documents. I can't find any option in the configuration that would control this behavior. I would like to restore the original/default behavior where documents are opening with Track Changes off, and in "Final showing markup" display. Steps to Reproduce Open Word 2007. Create a new document. Verify that track changes is off. Save the document and close Word. Open the document (either directly or through Word). Track changes is now on. Any ideas?

• Word 2007 "Out of Memory or Disk Space" Error on launch

  Word 2007 is installed on a Vista Home Premium machine and whenever it starts up it opens what appears to be a dynamic installer to do something and then throws up the "Out of Memory or Disk Space" error. Word 2007 never completes starting up. Reinstalling Word hasn't helped and if I can avoid reinstalling Windows until Windows 7 is released and get Word working in the mean time, that would be ideal. I've been looking around for a solution, once of which seemed to point to a problem with the user account. I created a second user on the machine and Word still had the same problem. The other solution that seems possible is a corrupted normal.dot/normal.dotm file. However, even in the location it should be, I can't seem to find it. Am I going in the right direction with this? Is there another solution I haven't come across that will fix this? If it is possible that renaming normal.dot/normal.dotm how can I find it?

  If I have set styles in a Word 2003 document, how can I get the set styles to appear when the document is opened in Word 2010? When I open the document that was created using 2003 (that has set custom styles), in 2010 it converts everything to the 2010 styles. When I try selecting Change Styles?Style Set?Word 2003, it doesn’t pick up my custom styles; it only picks up the default 2003 styles. I want to be able to keep my custom styles that were created in the template using 2003.

• Why is Outlook 2007 resizing images in outgoing and incoming HTML email? How can I fix this?

  In my Outlook 2007 client, embedded images in incoming emails appear resized when the message is viewed. The incoming images are resized to 198px wide, despite the original size. If it was larger, it will be shrunk; if it was smaller, it will be enlarged; the aspect ratio remains the same (the image is not stretched). This is local to my client only (i.e. another Outlook 2007 client reading the same IMAP inbox will see the image in the correct size. Similarly, viewing the email message in a browser will display the correct size). This happens regardless of whether width/height attributes are set on the image tag in the HTML. Zoom is set to 100% in my message window; text and other elements are not distorted from the original. In addition to this, outgoing HTML messages with images embedded in the same way are resized as they are sent. The outgoing images are all scaled to have a width of 247px. The source HTML of the outgoing message is changed after pressing Send so that the tag's width attribute is 247 pixels and the image file itself is also resized. These problems only occur with HTML messages; Rich Text messages do not have the same problem. I have already tried reinstalling Outlook and have it fully patched up to date. Why is this happening and how can I stop this?

  Hi! I have Access DB with One StudentTable. I have created multiple queries from that table then Exported to SharePoint Different Sites. Student table is exported to Site Collection. I added multiple records to Student Table that is uploded in site collection. Now My problem is - those new records don't get reflected to other list (created queries and exported to SP sites) that are in different sites Is there any way to work around above problem. • Export Outlook Express XP into Outlook 2007 Windows 7

  I've searched the forum and it seems my need is a little different than the posts which have already been made. I have an old XP laptop which I was using Outlook Express for one of my mail accounts (a work account). I also ran regular Outlook for another (personal). I want to have both of these accounts on my new PC. My new PC is running Windows 7 wiht Office 2007. I used the Windows transfer cable and things worked failry well. My regular Outlook files all came over well, but nothing for Outlook Express. I really would like to take this time to somehow export my OE files into my Outlook 2007. I would really like to keep the account which imported in on Outlook seperate. Question 1: Is there a way to import my OE files into Outlook 2007? Question 2: Is there a way to have two seperate email accounts in Outlook without combining them? Basically I want to have a work email and a personal and keep them seperate. If I can't have two seperate emails with Outlook, can anyone suggest something which would allow me to export my old Outlook (the old personal emails) into another program so that I can at least use my work email on Outlook 2007? Hopefully this isn't too confusing.

• Share OneNote 2010 Notebooks with OneNote 2007

  OneNote is the new star of the Office Suite, and is included in every edition of Office 2010.  OneNote’s file format has been changed in the 2010 version, so here’s how you can still share your notebooks with those using OneNote 2007. Convert your OneNote Notebooks to 2007 Format If you open a notebook from OneNote 2010 in OneNote 2007, you may see this warning informing you that the notebook was created in a newer version of OneNote and cannot be opened. To make your 2010 notebooks compatible with OneNote 2007, you need to convert them inside OneNote 2010.  In OneNote 2010, open the File menu; this should open to the Info tab by default.  Select the Settings button beside the notebook you want to use in OneNote 2007, and select Properties. In the properties dialog, click “Convert to 2007”. You may see a warning that some formatting, content, and history that is incompatible with OneNote 2007 will be removed.  Click Ok to continue. OneNote will automatically convert everything in this notebook to 2007 format.  If your notebook is very large, this may take a few minutes. Once the conversion is completed, you can re-open the properties dialog to see the change.  The format is listed as OneNote 2007 format, and you have the option to convert to 2010.  Your 2007 formatted notebook is still fully usable in OneNote 2010, but you may not be able to use some of the newer features in it. Now that your notebook is in 2007 format, you can share it with OneNote 2007 users.  Here’s our notebook, the OneNote 2010 guide, open in OneNote 2007 after the conversion. Conclusion OneNote can be a great collaboration tool, and with this simple trick you can collaborate with those using older versions of OneNote.  Additionally, if you are currently running Office 2010 beta but plan to switch back to Office 2007 when the beta expires, then make sure to do this to any new notebooks you’ve created so you can still use them. • Excel 2007: Using a time to set XY chart axis scaling like in 2003

  In Excel 2003, when you created a XY chart using time as an axis, you could set the scaling of these axes by typing in the date. In Excel 2007, you have to use the decimal version of the time (eg. How many days since some arbitrary earlier date). I was wondering if there was a way to avoid having to make such a calculation? A developer posted on a blog that this issue would be fixed in a future release, but all versions of Excel 2007 I have tried have not resolved this issue. The relevant quote: Those of you familiar with this technique of converting time to a decimal may recall that Excel 2003 allowed you to enter a date and time like “1/1/07 11:00 AM” directly in the axis option min/max fields and Excel would calculate the appropriate decimal representation. This currently does not work in Excel 2007 but will be fixed in a subsequent release.

  I have qmail server and authetication on Active Directory. All clients use Microsoft Outlook 2007 as default mail client. A have one central location and several remote location wich are connected with slow link speed connection. I have attachment limit on qmail, but i have problem when client attach file localy and send mail, attachment is been uploaded to qmail server and rejected because exceeded limit. Is it possible to limit attachment localy on MS Outlook 2007? I know that Office 2010 have attachment limitation but i think that is not working on Office 2007.

• How can I make Excel documents open in different windows?

  Office 2007, Windows Server 2008 x64. How can I make Excel so that when I double-click a document, it opens in a new Excel instance, so that I can easily view them side-by-side as separate windows and not using the View-Arrange All functionality? Now I have to go to the task bar, click on one document to see it and then click on the other document in the task bar to switch to that one. As the alternative, I close one document, open a new Excel window, then drag the document in there. Thank you.

  When I have multiple selections in a Word 2007 document, such as after selecting all instances of a style, how can I move from one selection to the next? When you issue the select all instances command, the view snaps to the next instance of the style, but how can I find the other instances? Any cursor key will unselect everything. Using the mouse to scroll through the document is not feasible for large documents, plus the selection could be a single character -- very easy to miss!

  My Word 2007 spell-check seems to work fine, except that when I paste in text from somewhere else, it won't detect any misspellings in that pasted text...no matter what I try. If it makes any difference, when I paste in text, the formatting is preserved (size color etc). Any ideas on what to try?

• Non-functioning AutoFilter on Locked Cells in Office 2008 - works in Office 2007

  I'm looking into a problem for someone, who works in a mixed OS environment. She has created an Excel spreadsheet in Office 2007 to act as a directory, with AutoFilter turned on for names, email addresses, departments etc. To make sure no one accidentally edits email addresses (for example), she has protected the work sheet. Accessing this worksheet on a PC running Excel 2007, everything runs as you'd expect. You can filter the sheet by any of the auto-filtered columns, and because the sheet is protected, the data integrity is guaranteed. However, if you access the sheet on a Mac running Excel 2008, you can't filter the columns. What's strange here is that the AutoFilter dropdown arrows do appear in each of the column headers as you would expect. It's just that nothing happens if you click on them. If you select one of the column header cells (say, 'First Name') and check the menu: Data-Filter, you can see that AutoFilter is ticked. As another datapoint, you also seem to be able to apply an Advanced filter to these rows on the protected sheets. Does anyone know why this might be? It seems to be a compatibility issue between Excel 2007/2008 (I know the codebase isn't the same), but I can't find any references to it in documentation or forums anywhere, and it would be good to know if there's a way around this.   I pardon as its not a programming question at all. But if anybody can answer this it will be usefull for me. In MS word 2007 I drew a textbox and entered some text. Then I right clicked on textbox and went to format shape Then went to TextBox tab and reduced the top internal margin to 0.1 cm. But still it seems there is too much space at the top inside the textbox. I am not able to position the text exactly at the vertical middle of textbox. If I choose the auto-rezide option in format Shape, the textBox size is increases automatically but the text remains exactly at vertical and horizontal middle of textbox. but anyhow I need the textbox to be small. This is very minor but annoying problem. Can anybody help?

• Can't edit a specific document in Word 2007

  I have a document in Word 2007 that seems to be read only. There are forms in the document that I can type in, but I can't edit or reformat the rest of the document. There is probably a setting somewhere I can flip to make it editable again but I can't find it for the life of me. FOLLOW UP: The "Protect Document" button only had "Unrestricted Access" checked, this was one of the first things I checked. However, when I tried checking "Restrict Formatting and Editing" it brought up the Restrict Formatting and Editing sidebar, which stated: This document is protected from unintentional editing. You may only fill in forms in this region. With a stop protection button on the bottom, which of course solved the problem. I think that menu item just has a bad name, it should be "Restrict Formatting and Editing Options or Settings"

  Got a user that everyone once in awhile (maybe once every 2 weeks or so) will do a "save as" in their Word 2007 and the created, saved document will be blank. But most of the time, "save as" works fine. Already re-installed the whole Office Suite. It's fine when he does email attachments. This is not related to email. Sequence of events (from client): I create a new document and select SAVE AS I select a file to SAVE AS I create a name ie. ExampleFileA I select SAVE A blank document is what is saved I can sometimes recover the content of the document by selecting RECENT DOCUMENTS Yesterday, the file for ExampleFileA in RECENT DOCUMENTS was blank The situation has occurred with both pre-existing and newly created documents Any thoughts?

  I am updating a user manual that was initially written by somebody else. I know that most manuals are not written in Word, but our office only uses Microsoft Office applications. I am doing fairly well, creating and applying "styles". A lot of the directions in this manual require updated screenshots of the program it documents. … It's a big mess. </rant> One thing I am attempting to do is add “call outs” or Note text boxes like those seen in modern software manuals. I am attempting to do this with the Text box feature. However, I am having a hard time making them uniform in size and positioning. Does Word offer a way to manage the size and other properties of textboxes, similar to the way it allows you to manage text in styles? I feel that this could (or should) be possible. Is it possible to manage Text Boxes the same way you can manage styles?

• Getting Correct Edition of Office 2007 from Serial Key

  I have been asked by a Client to refresh one of their Machines. To do this i managed to get Windows XP Setup to run in Repair mode, and while in setup i ran a serial key grabber, which grabbed the key for Office 2007 The only thing is that the key grabber didnt tell me what edition of Office 2007 was installed. I have aqquired a number of ISO's for the different editions (Home & Student, Standard, Professional, Ultimate) but the key doesnt work in any of them. Is there a way to get the edition from the Serial Key, or is there a generic ISO that will install any edition depending on the Serial Key?
