  • VS2010 + Resharper 5 performance issues

    I have been using VS2010 with Resharper 5 for several weeks and am having a performance issue. Sometimes when typing, the cursor will lag and the keystrokes won't show instantaneously. Also, scrolling will lag at times. There is a forum thread started and JetBrains has been responding. Several people (including myself) have added their voice and uploaded some performance profiles. If anyone here has has this issue, I would encourage you to visit the thread and let JetBrains know about it. Has anyone had this problem and have a suggestion to restore performance?

  • how to display a dialog if user can't download file

    hi. dealing with php/html/javascript. i'm trying to figure out a good/best approach to allowing a user to download a file. i can have the traditional href link, that interfaces with the back end php app to download the file. however, i want to have the app display some sort of dialog/alert if the user isn't able (basedon acl/permissions) to download the file... does this have to ba an ajax thing, as i don't want to do a page refresh... thoughts/comments/pointers to code samples are appreciated. thanks. -tom

    Maybe I don't understand how clone works with sortable, but here is what I would like to do. When sorting an item I would like a clone of the item I am dragging remain until I stop drop the item in its new position.   • asp.net Membership : Extending Role membership?

    Hi there, I am been taking a look at asp.net membership and it seems to provide everything that i need but i need some kind of custom Role functionality. Currently i can add user to a role, great. But i also need to be able to add Permissions to Roles.. i.e. Role: Editor Permissions: Can View Editor Menu, Can Write to Editors Table, Can Delete Entries in Editors Table. Currently it doesn't support this, The idea behind this is to create a admin option in my program to create a role and then assign permissions to a role to say "allow the user to view a certain part of the application", "allow the user to open a menu item" Any ideas how i would implement soemthing like this? I presume a custom ROLE provider but i was wondering if some kind of framework extension existed already without rolling my own? Or anybody knows a good tutorial of how to tackle this issue? I am quite happy with what asp.net SQL provider has created in terms of tables etc... but i think i need to extend this by adding another table called RolesPermissions and then I presume :-) adding some kind of enumeration into the table for each valid permission??   • mysql - select pagination chunk that includes a given id

    ...before the pagination chunks have been determined. I know you can do this in multiple statements, but there must be a better way. my results are returned ordered by date and I want to return the pagination chunk that contains a given id. So I could, for example, select the date of the given id and then select a chunk of results where date is less than or greater than the date. That would work. But is there some native mysql method of doing this sort of thing in one statement? It just seems reasonable to expect that we could ask for X results in which a given id exists if results are ordered by date.

Essentially, I am using it only as a storage mechanism. I understand XML is better suited for this but I read that JSON is faster and preferred. Is it a good practice to use JSON if the intention is not to use the string on the client side?

    Hi there, I have been taking a look at mvvm light toolkit, i must admit i haven't got a lot of experience with it but i live what i see.. I did use the mvvm toolkit (microsoft) but currently use vs 2010 and no templates are available as yet. I was looking for some insight into mvvm light toolkit... Is it always maintained ? i..e its not going to be gone tomorrow... Or shoudl i be looking elsewhere?? I would really appreciate any feedback... I also saw some info on how it is blendable which the mvvm toolkit (microsoft) didn't seem to have.. Prism also seems to be also a likely candidate but from what i understand its not a MVVM framework / toolkit i would be using it with wpf Any help really appreciated Thank you

  • Extending ASP.NET role providers

    Because the RoleProvider interface seems to treat roles as nothing more than simple strings, I'm wondering if there is any non-hacky way to apply an optional value for a role on a per-user basis. Our current login management system implements roles as key-value pairs, where the value part is optional and usually used to clarify or limit the permissions granted by a role. For example, a role 'editor' might contain a user 'barry', but for 'barry' it will have an optional value 'raptors', which the system would interpret to mean that Barry can only edit articles filed under the 'raptors' category. I have seen elsewhere a suggestion to simply create additional delimited roles, such as 'editor.raptors' or somesuch. That's not really going to be ideal because it would bloat the number of roles greatly, and I can tell it's going to be a very hard sell to replace our current implementation (which is also very less than ideal, but has the advantage of being custom made to work with our user database). I can tell already that the concatenation method mentioned above is going to involve a lot of tedious string-splitting and partial matching. Is there a better way?

  • mvvm-light: Should we merge Cleanup methods in locator?

    Hi there, when creating a new ViewModel within the locator class using the snippet it creates a Cleanup Method but there is already one available from the Main so hence an error.... Should we merge them all?? Or should we be renaming the method to Cleanup[Name of viewmodel] for example. I am a little confused here Another question i would like to ask is regards to the naming conventions. I tried to follow the naming convention used with "MAIN"... hence i have CreateLogin, ClearLogin, Login (non static property for binding) etc etc.. Would it not be better to use CreateLoginViewModel, ClearLoginViewModel etc?? Just curious Thanks

    Yesterday I created a simple image servlet and attempted to deploy it. I am getting an error on JBoss startup, and then further errors on trying to invoke the servlet. I spent about 8 hours yesterday searching the web for answers and trying different scenarios. I ended up making my JBoss problems worse and then fixing them, but I never did get the servlet to work. As a matter of fact, I even added some code to one of my JSPs to attempt to instantiate the Servlet and call the doGet method. This actually works and outputs the correct debug sequences to the log indicating that the Servlet constructor and doGet methods were called. I also tried following some instructions for creating/deploying a very simple HelloWorld servlet, and that has exactly the same problem. Note that web.xml already contained a servlet put there by JBoss: org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.StatusServlet -- that Servlet does not give any errors in the log. As an experiment, I removed ".web" from that path and ended up getting exactly the same error as I'm getting on my Servlet. So it would appear that JBoss is not able to locate my Servlet given the specified path. Just for kicks, I've tried all sorts of other paths, like just plain MyImageServlet, controller.MyImageServlet, and more. Also, the servlet was originally named ImageServlet, but I attempted the name change thinking maybe there was some conflict with an existing ImageServlet. In all cases, the behavior is the same. After all of my research yesterday, I would say that this appears to be a problem with the JBoss servlet container, and I also learned that JBoss 5.1.0.GA should come bundled with a tomcat servlet container. I installed JBoss on my PC (Windows XP) myself less than 2 months ago (from jboss.org) and used it pretty much as is. Note that I am running on JDK 1.6, so I did use the jboss-jdk6 installation version. I am running on Windows, but I also deploy to a Linux virtual dedicated server. I deployed the current version of my program, including the servlet to the Linux box, but I get the exact same errors. I'm reluctant to just try reinstalling JBoss, since it's hard to place the blame on the JBoss installation when I get the same errors on two completely different installations. I am a bit suspicious of the bundled tomcat servlet container, because using eclipse, I haven't been able to locate any indication that there is a tomcat bundled into JBoss. I did locate servlet-api.jar in the JBoss common/lib directory. This is on the eclipse build path. One possibly useful note: I had previously used a standalone tomcat server for other projects using the same eclipse, so maybe it's some sort of eclipse issue? But, as I said, I do get the same errors when I deploy to the Linux server, and that deployment process just involves ftping files to the server and then putting them into the deployed war package and restarting JBoss.   • How to retrieve an array from Multidimensional Array.

    So I have a multi-dimensional array looks like this. $config = array( "First Name" => array( "user" => $_POST['firstname'], "limit" => 35, ), "Last Name" => array( "user" => $_POST['lastname'], "limit" => 40, ), ); I want use the array that's within the config array, so my approach is to use a foreach loop. foreach($config as $field => $data) { } Now I know that $data will be my array, but it seems I can't use it outside of the foreach statement because I only get half of whats already there. Using print_r you can see what it shows outside the loop: Array ( [user] => lastname [limit] => 40 ) But when inside the loop and I use print_r here is my result: Array ( [user] => firstname [limit] => 35 ) Array ( [user] => lastname [limit] => 40 ) I imagine it has to do something with it being with the foreach loop. I've tried to run a foreach on the $data array to populate another array, but that didn't work as well. Is there a way to use this outside of a foreach loop? Sorry if this a dumb question, I'm sure there is a quite a simple answer to this, but I'm just stumped, and can't think of a way to do this. Thanks.

I'd like this functionality for other languages as well, apart from the basics that Doxygen supports (C++, C, Java, Objective-C, Python, VHDL, PHP, C#). I'm currently interested in JavaScript, ActionScript 2 and ActionScript 3/Flex but am looking for ways or tools that have a wider language support than Doxygen.     I am trying to use an update trigger in sql 2000 so that when an update occurs, I insert a row into a history table, so I retain all history on a table: CREATE Trigger trUpdate_MyTable ON MyTable FOR UPDATE AS INSERT INTO [MyTableHistory] ( [AuditType] ,[MyTable_ID] ,[Inserted] ,[LastUpdated] ,[LastUpdatedBy] ,[Vendor_ID] ,[FromLocation] ,[FromUnit] ,[FromAddress] ,[FromCity] ,[FromProvince] ,[FromContactNumber] ,[Comment]) SELECT [AuditType] = 'U', D.* FROM deleted D JOIN inserted I ON I.[ID] = D.[ID] GO Of course, I get an error "Cannot use text, ntext, or image columns in the 'inserted' and 'deleted' tables." I tried joining to MyTable instead of deleted, but because the insert triger fires after the insert, it ends up inserting the new record into the history table, when I want the original record. How can I do this and still use text columns?

  • How do I persist form data across an "access denied" page in Drupal?

    We're building a small sub-site that, on the front page, has a one input box form that users can submit. From there, they're taken to a page with a few more associated form fields (add more details, tag it, etc.) with the first main form field already filled in. This works splendidly, thus far. The problem comes for users that are not logged in. When they submit that first form, they're taken to a (LoginToboggan based) login page that allows them to login. After they login, they redirect to the second form page, but the first main form field isn't filled in -- in other words, the form data didn't persist. How can we store that data and have it persist across the access denied page?
