  • Relative links in CSS, after moving Wordpress

    I created a blog with Wordpress on a temporary test domain. I put it in the main directory, not a folder. Now I want to move it to the correct website, in a folder. I can update all of the MySQL values for the site URL, and the relative path links work just fine. The problem is that I can't seem to make my CSS path links work. I realize that my problem is that they are relative to the CSS file, in the WordPress theme, and not the page. But how can I fix this? Here is an example: #topNav {background:#3a93c3 url(wp-content/uploads/2011/07/blueNav.jpg) repeat-x;} I have tried adding './', '../', and '../../' to the beginning, but it doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?

  • Should I choose <button> element or css buttons?

    Ok, here's the thing. I've done a webpage which contains forms and so I added buttons as elements and this works great. I created their own css classes and use graphics as background images for each of them. All working great (these are submit buttons btw) Anyway, I've also got a jQuery script from before that takes all a href hyperlinks and add content from a set div from an external file and adds to a div in my current page, all in one animation. But this would probably not work with form buttons? In any case I need to be able to have these buttons work as traditional hyperlinks anyway. So what do I do? I thought about using css-buttons alltogether, but I'm not able to have them stack vertically. Using float left or right just put the buttons outside of their parent containers (probably a different fix for that). But in any case, using css buttons, that wouldn't work as a submit button for the forms anyway would it? Should I perhaps use both form buttons and css buttons? What do you do?

    It's possible to create href-attibutes that makes the iPhone quit Safari and launch another app. For the official Twitter-app this would look like: <a href="twitter:///post?message=my+important+message">Click to deliver message to Twitter-apps status updater</a> For the Facebook-app the protocoll is: fb:/// But i can't figure out, or find any information about, how to get my message (a url to share) directly into the the status updater. Is there a url-scheme, or am I going about this the wrong way?

  • How do browsers/PHP handle characters outside the set characterset?

    I'm looking into how characters are handled that are outside of the set characterset for a page. In this case the page is set to iso-8859-1, and the previous programmer decided to escape input using htmlentities($string,ENT_COMPAT). This is then stored into Latin1 tables in Mysql. As the table is set to the same character set as the page, I am wondering if that htmlentities step is needed. I did some experiments on http://floris.workingweb.nl/experiments/characters.php and it seems that for stuff inside Latin1 some characters are escaped, but for example with a Czech name they are not. Is this because those characters are outside of Latin1? If so, then the htmlentities can be removed, as it doesn't help for stuff outside of Latin1 anyway, and for within Latin1 it is not needed as far as I can see now...

  • xPath Groupings how?

    OK So, I'm learning/using xpath for a basic application thats effectively ripping data off another website. I need to gain the knowledge of each persons Countryy/Suburb/area. In some instances you can get Australia/Victoria/melborne for instance. Others may just be Australia/Melbourne. Or even just Melbourne OR just AUSTRALIA. who knows. So I'm current able to view the below code and rip all of the information with the string xpath search:@" //table/tr/td/tabke/tr/td/font/a, this returns every entry, but what I really want is to group each lot separately. I hope someone out there on planet earth knows what I just tried to explain... and can help... Everything works fine but what I want to add to it is the ability for the user to choose something on a form and have it update the value in a different form box.     Yo. I'm trying to make a simple login system in PHP and my problem is this: I don't really understand sessions. Now, when I log a user in, I run session_register("user"); but I don't really understand what I'm up to. Does that session variable contain any identifiable information, so that I for example can get it out via $_SESSION["user"] or will I have to store the username in a separate variable? Thanks.

    This is as simple as I can get. I will have several spans randomly positioned on the screen through something like: $(".hidden:first").css('-webkit-transform','rotate('+((0.5-Math.random())*40)+'deg)'); $(".hidden:first").animate({ left: '+=' + (((screen.width-800-224)/2) + Math.random()*800), top: '+=' + (50+Math.random()*600) } [...] and later on I would like to iterate through every char of every of those elements (that are randomly position and have random rotation), and I would need to discover the (x,y) position of every character on the screen so I can colorize it, forming certain draws according to certain functions. Is this easily achievable? I am really inexperienced at javascript. Thanks. Fernando.

  • Are there any thead limitations that make it not print on each page in Firefox?

    I have a table that has a <thead>, a <tfoot> and a <tbody>. It is supposed to print the thead and tfoot on each page in theory, but for some reason the thead does not if it contains certain elements together.   • Selectively allow unsafe html tags in Plone

    I'm searching for a way to put widgets from several services (PicasaWeb, Yahoo Pipes, Delicious bookmarks, etc.) on the community site I host on Plone (currently 3.2.1). I'm looking for a way to allow a group of users to use dangerous html tags. There are some ways I see, but I don't know how to implement those. One would be changing safe_html for the pages editors own (1). Another would be to allow those tags on some subtree (2). And yet another finding an equivalent of "static text portlet" that would display in the middle panel (3). We could then use some of the composite products (I stumbled upon Collage and CMFContentPanels), to include the unsafe content on other sites. My site has been ridden by advert bots, so I don't want to remove the filtering all together. I don't have an easy (no false positives) way of checking which users are bots, so deploying captcha now wouldn't help either. The question is: How to implement any of those solutions? (I already asked that on plone mailing list without an answer, so I thought I would give it another try here.)

  • How can I force input to uppercase in an asp.net textbox?

    I'm writing an asp.net application. I have a textbox on a webform and I want to force whatever the user types to upper case. I'd like to do this on the front end. You should also note that there is a validation control on this textbox, so I want to make sure the solution doesn't interfere with the asp.net validation. Clarification: It appears that the CSS text-tranform makes the user input appear in uppercase, however under the hood, it's still lower case as the validation control fails. You see, my validation control checks to see if a valid state code is entered, however the regex expression I"m using only works with uppercase characters.

  • Filter large amounts of data from a HTML table w/ jQuery

    I work for a transit agency and I have large amounts of data (mostly times), and I need a way to filter the data using two textboxes (To and From). I found jQuery quick search, but it seems to only work with one textbox. If anyone has any ideas via jQuery or some other client side library, that would be fantastic.   • Center aligned form with equal width labels

    I have a very simple web form which consists of labels and input fields, however I can not seem to find a way of aligning the form in the center of the page and for the labels to have an equal width so that they appear neatly next to each other, one under the other. Also I am not able to set the width of the page (or any containing divs) as the page will be displayed on mobile devices with different screen sizes. Any suggestions as to how best style the form?   • possible to auto zoom out if user's resolution < x ?

    my site is aimed purely at the laptop market (dont ask why or argue!), all my users (or 95%+) we on a screen width of 1200+, netbooks are now taking off, with a resolution of 1024 wide. my site still looks great on a netbook if you zoom out once (ctrl-minus), but i don't want to rely on users knowing about ctrl-minus. what are my options besides redesign? I'm keen not to have zoom buttons on my page. is there a javascript zoomer outer?!!!

  • Using JS to POST a form in an iframe.

    I would like to POST a form in an iframe, generated like so: My JS loads an iframe inside the page, adds a form to the iframe and submits the form. What I would like to happen is the iframe to load the result of that request. So, I would effectively like to post a form and render the result inside the iframe, without touching the parent (apart from putting the iframe up for display in the first place). I am using the code from this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/133925/javascript-post-request-like-a-form-submit/134003#134003 but I can't get it to not reload the parent. I post the form, and instead of the iframe refreshing, the entire parent refreshes. I don't know why that is, since the url it's posting to is different and would at least redirect there. Can anyone help me with this problem? I just want a post inside an iframe and only within the iframe, basically.
